Ed knows his stuff. He treats guitars like theyre his own. The store is an amazing walk back in time with everything from tube radios, to Commodore 64s, to unopened Windows 95 boxes! His in-store schedule is appointment-only, so its best to either call or email M-F and set one up. Hes worth your time!

Ed is amazing. I am hard on my gear. Break stuff and am always in need of repair. Guitars and amplifiers.. he does it all. I’ve had terrible experience with other amp repair guys in Seattle. Ed is the only guy I bring my gear to.... too many hacks out there. Ed is an expert in the field of amplification and a guitar wizard.

Found Ed when my old Line 6 amp quit working. Although we were unable to bring it back from the dead, he did all he could to try. It was free so no huge loss. Fast forward 3 months and I was back. This time it was for power tubes in a Blackstar HT20 combo. Neither brands are a favorite, but with amount of time Ed has been doing this, I feel like he is allowed an opinion. Regardless, he has always made an honest and friendly attempt. He is local and will be my go to as long as he is around. Thanks Ed!!!

We took our Korg keyboard out of storage to use it to play Christmas Carols at a local Brewery for our Carols and Cheer events. When we set it up we found that a random assortment of keys werent working. The piano player made it work for the first week, but we knew we needed to get it fixed by the next Wednesday.I called a number of places that werent even willing to take a look at it. Ed was not only willing, but when I got there, even without my asking, he dropped everything, put it on the counter, took it apart, and started working on it. I enjoyed the conversation and chatter that went along with the work and he even accepted a suggestion or two of mine as to how to do the repair. In about an hour he had all of the keys working again, for a very fair price, especially considering I didnt have to wait at all and was able to take a working keyboard home. I had noticed an OLD portable computer (not even a laptop) on one of his shelves, so he got that down just for fun and we got it to boot up!Great guy, fast work, good prices. What more could you ask for!

This place is amazing. About 2 minutes after you walk through the door youll realize that Ed is a wealth of knowledge about all things gear related. I thought I knew exactly what 6l6 tubes to put in my jsx head but he persuaded me to use Groove tubes instead of tung-sol. I am very glad I listened to him. Ive had those babies in there for 2 and a half years and they still sound as sweet as the day he installed them. I even came back because I was hearing a weird buzzing noise in my amp. I brought it in to his shop, plugged it in, and it didnt make a peep. He told me that it could be the ground prong in the 3-prong outlet that was causing the issue. Sometimes homes have shotty electrical wiring and you can pick up unwanted frequencies. He recommended that I get an attachment to make it a 2-prong power cable. He was exactly right, that was the ticket! Ed even gave my amp head a thorough inside deep clean at no charge, so it made the trip absolutely worth while! I cant say enough good things about him and the pride he puts into his work! Definitely my go-to gear guy!

I took my precious, vintage (35 year old) Roland TB-303 Bass-Line to Ed at Efex Electronics for installation of 24 new, sealed tactile switches. Ed also worked on the Din Sync-in Connector. Long story short, my old 303 is now working like new. I am a very happy customer. Ed is also a very kind and patient person and very pleasant to work with, and his prices are reasonable, especially when you consider the quality of technician that he is. Ill never go anywhere else for service of my gear in the future. Thank you, Ed.

Brought a super noisy guitar amp in. Too noisy to record or use in any small venue. Ed just threw in one tube, plugged in a guitar, cranked the amp ridiculously loud, and while we covered our ears in pain, he laughed at us and said the amp was better. It was just as noisy as before, nothing had changed. Then he charged us for the tube and said it was better.Would never go again.

Ed is Awesome!!! He really knows his stuff! I watched him take my Marshall Combo amp apart right in front of me and explain everything he was doing and why he was doing it. The amp was fully restored and working like new within an hour and it ended up costing my Only 73 dollars!! What a deal!! I was quoted another price of 85 dollars up front for the tear down from another repair shop . they told me that it would take 2-4 weeks to get my amp back...Ed had my amp completely tore down in about 20-30 minutes nobs and all!! I would definitely call Efex Electronics for your music repair! And dont waiste your time with other places that will rip you off!

Ive had Ed work on two Yamaha S80 keyboards. Both had several broken keys and he had replacement keys in stock that he installed for a fair price, I was very happy. The second keyboard, which I purchased on eBay, had bad rotary encoders which are out of stock and he could not find used ones, but he discussed this with the Yamaha techs and figured out how to re-build the encoders by hand, again for a fair price. Ed is my go-to man for keyboard repairs, and Im still buying old Yamaha S80s knowing Ed is there for my repairs.

I recently took a chance and bought a midi keyboard on craigslist that the seller listed as partially broken. I figured I could just get it fixed, but I wasnt sure who to go to. After much googling, I sure did luck out finding out about Efex Electronics. Ed is extremely knowledgeable about all things having to do with electronic music equipment. He can fix digital pianos, electric guitars, amps & preamps, audio interfaces, drum pads, midi controllers, sound boards, synths, and more. I brought my midi keyboard in to get a diagnostic. Ed was very friendly and plugged it into his midi tester and checked it out right in front of me. Everything ended up working perfectly even though the seller told me it was broken. It was worth bringing it in to get it checked out quickly by an expert. Plus, the keyboard was missing an A/C adapter so Ed provided one. He charged me a very reasonable price for the diagnostic and A/C adapter, and he threw in a cover for the keyboard as well, since he had a couple extras.Ive read some bad reviews where people felt ripped off or over-charged. I think that might be from a lack of communication or unfortunate timing. Ed was very easy to talk to and I was easily able to get a quote from him over the phone even before I arrived. He let me know what the general price would be for a diagnostic, and what his hourly rate is. Then, when I was at the store and we found that nothing was wrong, he charged me a much lower fee since he didnt have to take anything apart. I also told him I was interested in buying a used keyboard case from him if he had any in stock, and he mentioned that he had one but would be using it for music gigs for a week or two. Thats the timing thing I was talking about. I dont mind waiting for a couple weeks if I can get a good price from a good service technician like Ed, but maybe some other people had more pressing time deadlines that they got mad about because they didnt work the timing out beforehand. (who knows? Im just guessing). But regardless of anyone elses weirdness, I know I have found my permanent electronic instrument guy. Ill be a customer of Eds until he decides he no longer wants customers anymore. Its such a limited field of expertise, I am so happy to have found someone whos been a master of these sorts of repairs for decades! Thanks Ed!!!
