A rich selection of indigenous made artisanal goods at fair prices; clothing, jewelry, instruments, crafts and more. Owned and operated by the LACA non-profit, who also provide a variety of Spanish-language services for the community including but not limited to translation services and teaching lessons.

The shop owner - Santiago - was so friendly and helpful! The store is full of beautiful and unique products from many countries: Perú, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Haiti, México & more. Beautiful carved and painted ceramics including some very impressive vases. Alpaca wool sweaters for kids, fashionable ponchos, kids items and so much art including religious artworks, if thats your thing. Theres also some lovely jewelry. The prices are more than fair. Cant wait to go back :)

I started taking Spanish lessons with Daryl in March. When I paid to take lessons, I was told that I could come when I could until my 9 lessons were finished as long as I gave notice. Before I paid for my lessons, I had made sure that this was the case as I have a busy schedule due to my personal and professional life. I had to miss a couple of weeks due to work and personal commitments and gave notice in person or over email. Last week I talked to Daryl in class and I emailed saying that I would have to miss the next two classes but was able to finish my sequence of 9 after that without any interruptions. I then received a response from Daryl stating that I had missed four of my three absences and had to come this Friday or not continue. Never was I told that I had a certain amount of absences or did I sign anything that said this. Daryl didnt even mention it in the private lesson that we had last week when I told him I would not be able to make it. I was sent this and replied on a Thursday and I never received a response to my email about never signing a contract or being told. He works on Saturdays and he never responded. I am disappointed in the unprofessionalism that occurred here and do not recommend these lessons to anyone. I am confused as to why my lessons were dropped without being told in person, especially when it was made clear that there wasnt a number of unexcused and as to why this happened as there was not a waiting list for the class.

Ive been taking Spanish classes here for about 6 months. Ignacio does a good job of providing interesting conversation activities and support for students who are beginners. I think in-person lessons are helpful in understanding the nuances of the language. There are groups for all skill levels.

El Buen Amigo is great! They offer wonderful handmade crafts and clothing from Latin America, and its fair trade so you know its for a good cause. Plus theres always something going on in the gallery like an art show or salsa class. Awesome place to shop or do an internship if you have the chance.

I have taken Spanish at El Buen Amigo for about a year. The class I attend is taught by a native of Uruguay, and is a nice mix of conversation and grammar, made palatable with a variety of games and guided discussion.El Buen Amigo is very involved with issues in Buffalo and South American communities and is a special organization to have in the our community.

Special, above all his respect for the population of any ethnic group, there is everything that we long for in our Latin American countries and Mr. Santiago helps to open doors for artisans and adventurers in this type of art. I recommend it because they always receive you with a smile.
