An amazing, local business that also stands for the community its rooted in. There is a great selection of materials that even if you are going for a specific title or interested in a certain topic you will undoubtedly find more than you bargained for, effectively expanding your mind. What is important (to me at least) is the emphasis placed on not just adult readers, but youth, and carrying a range of works that literally encompass ALL ages.

I rarely comment on non-food place but I really wanna recommend here. They have a lot of book for kids/ young adult about sensitive issues that approach these conversations in a gentle way. The staff here was also friendly.

First off I walked in to 3 little kids giggling, READING books! I love it immediately. The space is warm and welcoming, its rustic feeling, DIY-ish, support the community style, and thats what youre doing when you shop at Burning Books. Theyre fully stocked with how to educate yourself on race, politics, life, childrens books and more! I found a how to make your own sour dough with tips for yogurt.. pandemic needs ya know? They have bandannas, shemaghs, journals, local stickers and buttons.. I spent a good amount of time in there and kept finding more stuff. You have to go check it out!

Im a political moderate but I like (and think its important) to read perspectives from across the political spectrum. We had some time to kill on the last day of our long weekend in Buffalo/Niagara Falls and a Google search for used bookstores led us to Burning Books. Its a gem of a little place. The selection, while slanted to the far left, I found to be fascinating. I picked up a book of essays on resistance movements in the age of Trump. Not that I plan on resisting - I still have hope the guy will tire of Twitter and decide to be a president - but the book gave me some things to think about on the plane right home. If youre a bookphile and find yourself in Buffalo, I highly recommend checking this place out, even if you arent liberal. Also, theres a gorgeous park a few blocks away next to DYouville College thats a perfect spot to relax and read.
