The customer service was very nice and helpful. The price was excellent. The only issue I have was the long line. There should be more people to help out at the signings. I waited over an hour for just my name to be called.
Sold my car here. It was a fair deal. They only issue a bank draft check which cannot be cashed and we waited like 8 hours from the time we got there to the time we left with a check. On the plus side they waived the DMV fees I owed which was way cool. I would sell a car here again in the future.
I had an approved quote for the purchase of my car. I was told when you have an approved quote its an quick approval and completion when you arrive with your appointment time. It took 51/2 hours to complete the purchase. Thats alot of time to make a customer wait around. I will never go back to CarMax!

I loved that I was able to have a vehicle transferred from a further location to the one closest to me at no cost at all. I received emails every step of the way letting me know the progress of the transfer and when my vehicle was ready for me took at.The condition of the vehicle checked out and was exactly as described. The price was great. And the purchase experience was hassle free. I absolutely love my new to me vehicle. I would definitely recommend Carmax and will use them for any future used vehicle purchases.
My wife and I have recently come to realize that our family is in need of a second car. We came in to CarMax, in Buena Park, California, hopeful that they could help. I sat with one of their sales people, and they made me feel relaxed, and listened to. They really worked with me to find a car that not only matched my needs, but, more importantly, that we could afford. The entire experience was amazing, and I would recommend them to anyone that is looking.

I set an appointment for Friday 5PM to get my car appraised. I received a text message to my phone confirming the appointment. I check in at 5:01 and the person at the front desk says someone will call my cell phone. I waited about 2 hours just thinking it was very busy but noticed people that came after me have already been helped. I go back inside and ask about how long it will be, but apparently they tried calling me and my number was wrong? How could that be if I received the text message confirmation? The front desk person put me back on the appointment schedule, I wait about 30 minutes and nobody has helped me yet so I go straight to one of the appraisers, David and he was kind enough to help me out. So now I end up waiting about another hour for the appraisal process to be finished. David explains to me to come early Sunday morning and people start forming a line on the SIDE OF THE BUILDING. I arrive at 10:30 AM, nobody else there and a small line was formed. At 10:55 I noticed an associate poke out and look at the line. At 11:00, we head inside and theres already a line inside. Nobody bothered to let us know we were waiting outside for no reason. I spent a total of 8 hours at Carmax over the weekend for no reason. The only reason why Im giving 2 stars is because they were still able to offer more for my vehicle than anyone else. The experience definitely could have been a lot better though.

I recently sold my car here and was pleasantly surprised by the level of service I received. I had an appointment for the appraisal at 10am and was checked in right away. The appraisal process from start to finish took about 30 minutes. I was eligible to receive the full appraisal amount that I had gotten online which was great. I decided to move forward with selling my vehicle so I went to the business center and brought my documents etc.. this took about an hour and a half and I was called back in to sign the paperwork and get my check. Everything seemed very organized and I was called right when it was my turn so it was a very seamless process overall. Everyone I interacted with from the greeters at the door to the business associate at the end were all very friendly and knowledgable. I would definitely recommend to make an appointment in the morning if possible and expect to spend a few hours there. By the time I left, at around noon, it was VERY busy.
I came in looking for a new (to me) vehicle as I was downsizing from a van to a car. From the first person who greeted me to the associate who helped me find the car to the helpful people in the finance office, I never had a moment of uncomfortableness. Everyone was pleasant, and helpful. The whole process was rather quick. I would recommend CarMax to anyone looking to buy a new vehicle in the future.
The guys that looked at my car were wonderful, efficient, and very nice.The woman that handled the paperwork was chatting with her coworker, forgot to scan my ID, and was rather rude.The wait for my check was 4 hours. This was extremely inconvenient, as I could see this on every persons face that she continued to tell. We had to speak with the manager in order to efficiently end this process and move out of state on time. Wasnt very pleased. No one warns you that it takes 4 hours. The front desk man told me the whole process should take 45-60 minutes. This is no where near true.

Lowballed my car, took forever to get done they say it will be easy but trust me it takes hours and hours of waiting, sitting and waiting. Things that should be smooth and easy are so tenuous and horribly long wait times. People are nice but other then that horrible experience.

The employees were very friendly. When I got my car appraised I did not have an appointment but it took less than a half hour.When I returned a week later to sell the car, I brought all necessary paper work. I waited in line at the business office for quite some time. When I arrived, they told me I had to move my car. I wasnt appreciative of that.They told me I could return in two hours, or after I received a return call from them. I did receive the call in about two hours exactly, however, I could not come down at that time. I ended coming another few hours later, and waited in the same line earlier. It wasnt until a gentleman came up and cut in front of the line and asked if he had to wait in line if he was returning. To which the employees told him no. That was flustering since I had just waited at least a half hour. Then I got to the desk and was told to wait until my name was called. I waited another half hour, until my name was called. The employee helping me was nice enough. However, she spelled my name wrong in multiple areas of the paper work. I explained to her this, and she explained she had to revise and let me know when it was ready. So again, I had to wait another 20 mins or so.Finally the paper was ready and I was able to sign.All in all the experience was just fine. In my opinion it took much too long.I strong suggest having two separate lines for your customers. One for customers who are selling a car/buying a car, and one for customers returning to finish their selling paperwork.
This is the second time I’ve purchased a car from CarMax and I’m satisfied with the friendliness of the sales people and speed and ease of the paperwork process. Great selection of cars
The on line estimate was exactly what they offered me. The review of the car to get the official offer was very efficient. The signing of documents was not near as efficient. But at least they let me go home to wait for them to get to my vehicle.
For a place that insists they dont work on commission their sales staff is a little pushy. Happened at 2 different locations.
I came in to trade a car in with an appointment. The appraisal worked out fine. Fair offer, completed within an hour of my arrival.The supervisor did warn me however, the store was extremely busy therefore the paperwork could take over an hour wait. I chose to wait. Patiently.3 hours later, I approached the business office to request a status. They advised it may take another hour longer. I left and approximately 2 hours later, I received a call my documents were ready. I decided to return the next day.I actually have absolutely no issue with the wait but I would suggest informing your clients early on of a potential 4-5 hour wait. This way, we could plan accordingly.This is my 7th interaction with CarMax so we are definitely fans, but this last experience really disappointed us.

Loved the experience of setting my down payment and how much I could afford a month and they found a lender willing to work with my situation. The car I purchased had some problems with the A/C unit and they fixed it free of charge. I was even given a loaner when they had to keep my car over the weekend. The sales rep who helped me was Scott and I will def be coming back when it’s time for my boyfriend to buy himself a car.
Everything was good until I received my vehicle. They were having trouble with the wash machine so it took longer than expected but that wasn’t the issue. The outside of the vehicle was fine but the inside was filthy. Almost as if it wasn’t cleaned at all. There was dried up coffee or soda or something in and around the cup holders. The cubby area next to the driver seat was full of old dried up food and God knows what else. It took me a considerable amount of time to get everything all cleaned out.
I went to Carmax to sell my car. I came in at night, all people were friendly, and all was good until the business office said they stopped buying cars hours ago. I was frustrated. However I spoke to Michael the manager who listened to my challenge and facilitated the entire sale. Thank you to Michael for helping us resolve the problem - true customer service.

They asked me to come when ever they give me a phone call they said if it’s longest it will be 2 hour to 2hour 30minute and they didn’t give me a phone call so after 4hour I came to the business office and they were saying they lived a voice mail and it was not even here and they asked me to wait for 10minute and the paper work will be ready and I am here waiting for an hour now. Terrible
With the current state of affairs in the country the selling process here is a long one. Thats no fault of CarMax. The day I sold my car here they had purchased 70 cars that day. Everyone is trying to sell because the market is right for it. CarMax can only do so much. The process was straightforward and easy but it takes a long time so be prepared to wait your turn. Total time for me was 7 hours start to finish.
The customer service at this location is absolutely amazing. Tristan Acosta was the sales representative helping me and he was a huge help. He helped me find exactly what I was looking for in my budget. He was so patient and took me out to look at multiple cars so I could find something that best suited my needs. He answered all my questions and the whole process overall was amazing and fast! A manger, Daniel Santistevan, was also a huge help. 5 stars all around.

The first two salesmen that I dealt with were very efficient and informative. After I decided to get the car and was led to the waiting area to do the paper work, everything stopped!!! I had to wait for over an hour just to do the paperwork. I looked in on the people working in that area, there were at least three women not with customers just sitting talking to each other. I think that is so rude, to let a customer who is essentially paying your salary sit for over an hour while they catch up on each others lives. I will not buy there again unless I can be assured of a more efficient closing.
Carmax in Buena Park is “The place” to purchase a car. Unfortunately I had a not great experience in a different location, and Chiqui P. Sales associate assisted me OVER THE PHONE in an amazing way. I let her know what I was looking for( budget, car…) and she was able to fulfill my dream of a new car. She was very profesional, and and fast in the car purchasing process. Excellent job!!! Great Service with Alex at Business office. Is not often that they get Teslas buy options and Alex was a pro. Tesla is very picky as to who they sell cars to they require alot of paper work from the dealer. Alex was extremely knowledgeable and provided all to Tesla. The transaction was smooth. Love the fact that they tell you how long is going to take and you can either go home or wait. I went home and came back to sign paperwork and get my check. It was easy and fast!

Came here a few weeks ago looking to sell my car, didnt really know what to expect. I went inside and explained Im looking to sell my car, then someone else came out and appraised my car, after that a different employee came and gave me an offer. Very straight forward and easy. The whole process took a while, they seemed pretty busy the day I went but I got everything done the day I went.
The sale of my 15 year old Camry was very straight-forward and easy. I received the full amount that I found in the online offer and CarMax took care of all the paperwork quickly and thoroughly. A very satisfactory experience.
Dealer was a no show..Had a appointment with him didnt text or call to let me know not to drive over..Could of rescheduled... I ended up buying a car at another dealership...they had great service...
This was my 4th car that I have purchased and/or assisted a family member with the purchase at CarMax. Unfortunately this time the paperwork phase of the process took well over 4 hours! The test drive, our sales person (Jerry) was outstanding and just terrific!! It completely bogged down and we kept getting bumped back again and again each time it was our turn to move to the paperwork phase. I was approved immediately with a credit score of 731 so it was not about my credit but rather the process failing itself. When we did get into the office to sign paperwork the employees were not friendly but rather seemed tired and annoyed. Sadly, that one experience kind of left myself and my family member who was with me with a poor impression of the entire process. Plan to spend a lot of time WAITING to doing paperwork!!

I spent days going from dealership to dealership trying to get a good deal on a car. At the end of the day, I went to CarMax and found a car for about the same price as other dealerships but without the dreadful experience. CarMax is totally worth it.
In and out very quickly in selling the vehicle and everyone was very friendly and helpful. they offered the same after vehicle inspection they had offered on the internet.
Waited 1.5 hours for someone to look at my vehicle and give me an offer letter. The office department told me there was a four hour wait and sent me to a different Carmax. Drove another 30 minutes and waited another hour for that Carmax to tell me that they couldn’t buy my car today.

Very big lot. We were shopping for a used car.. Many cars to choose from. But I didnt like that you cant look around at the different vehicles. They sit you down in front of a computer. Show you a few pictures of cars. You choose which ones you might be interested in, and look at a couple of cars in the huge lot. They need a better system.

I traded in my daughters vehicle as she purchased a new car from a dealership. The original auto dealer offered $1250.00 as a trade in. I had done my research and expected a low ball offer. I went to Car Max and their offer was $5500.00 which was exceedingly fair and reasonable given the condition of her car. The process was seamless. The employees all were courteous and helpful. I would recommend without reservation.
I was pretty happy with the overall experience. I test drove the car... and wanted it immediately. Everything was pretty simple and set. The only thing that was annoying was how long it took to set up the financing and sign. There were so many people waiting. And only like 3 people servicing them. But overal was cool. I had an appointment at 11am for an appraisal on my vehicle. I arrived at 11:06am. I waited until about 11:45am to get the first part. Then I waited for them to talk to me about it at 12:10pm. Then I waited in the business office line to tell them I wanted to move forward. Then I waited until 1:47pm for a phone call about the offer and vehicle. Then I waited until about 5:30pm to be called in to sign the final paperwork.So my car buying experience took about six and a half hours. Pretty horrible. Especially since there was like a ton of salesmen on one side waiting for people while there was a constant line of six people on the business office side.
I was able to get the car that I wanted at a good price after 5 hours. The process was way too long and it was never explained why it took so long. I was sitting in the waiting room for over 2.5 hours, with no updates as to when Id be helped. I was also not warned that the process would take this long.
I drove the car I bought over the weekend, and took it to CarMax to fix squeaky brakes. When I picked up the car I drove about 2 blocks before the shifter got stuck in 5th, and the shift knob was loose. I returned the car within 15 minutes of picking it up. I am waiting for my refund so I can purchase a different car. Please expedite if possible. Its been 1 week.**Edit: approaching 4 weeks now and still no refund. Changing to 1 star. Company is quick to take your money, not so much to give it back if it doesnt work out. My intention was to get another car from them. Not anymore. I call for an update and no one can give me an answer. Lame!

Had a great experience getting an estimate for my car. Mario was great, I blocked out his cell phone number. Wish I hadn’t put it off for so long coming by here. Got a $500 better evaluation than I thought I would. Mario took time to show me cars they had that I wanted. No pressure, he understood that I wanted to bring my wife in and that I wanted to get the evaluation out of the way first. Still looking at their inventory and hope to find one soon.
I am very happy with the customer service from Carmax. My onblyt complaint is when your vehicle is in service for a week they would j=have it washed before picking itup.
The online offer process was easy and accurate. We scheduled an appointment to bring our car in for an inspection to confirm the online appraisal. Even with an appointment, we had to wait over an hour. It was a weekend and they told us that there were several people ahead of us to sell our car so we came back on a weekday. I scheduled an appointment, brought the car in at our scheduled appointment time and still had to wait over three hours to meet with a rep to process our paperwork. The one upside is that everyone there was very kind and pleasant to work with.

If I could give 1/2 a star I would. I booked my appointment on-line to sell my car to Carmax. I took the 12pm time slot and proceeded to drive there with my husband and 3 kids in his truck and I in my vehicle which we were interested in selling. We were greeted shortly after a brief wait in the open lobby area. I was told it would be 10 minutes to be assisted. We said fine, it looked busy, but we understood we had an appointment and it shouldnt take long. Or so we thought. 15 minutes passed, and I asked a gentleman who was at the computer, if he could see how much longer for my appointment. He then proceeded to say, it would be another 15-20 minutes. I told him wait, I had made a 12 pm appointment, and they told me 10 minutes, 15 minutes ago. Help me understand whats going on? He then went to his monitor, looked briefly and said I didnt even show I had an appointment. I told him, thats funny, the guy who checked me in for my 12 pm didnt have a problem finding my appointment. He then became flustered, and proceeded to talk to another person, and then turned to me rushed, and said, ok, I will help you. He then proceeded to walk way ahead of me, didnt introduce himself, didnt greet us, was completely bothered by the fact that I insisted on knowing why it would take longer than what was told to me intially, and made no attempt to hide the fact that it was an inconvenience. He walked out to the parking lot, grunting or mumbling words to me as he walked ahead of me. I was in shock at the lack of customer service this person had, and he had no problem expressing it. I showed him where my car was parked, he put the little yellow hat thing on it and walked back to the store. I assummed I was to follow him, because again, no conversation between him and I. He pointed to a desk in front, and I sat with my husband by my side. By that time, we were both very upset with how he was treating us. My husband is the calmer of the two, so he talked me into not walking out that instant and keeping my car. You see, we had went with the intent of selling our car, and purchasing a new one. But the experience we had, so vastly different than the last time we purchased a vehicle there, was a complete 180 and the customer service was just not existent. After we sat at his desk, he then went over numbers, and we agreed, and then proceeded to tell us that it would be 4-6 hours before we would be able to sign papers. This was already waiting 2 hours for the paperwork (we left to have lunch and came back), and by the time the paperwork would have been completed, it would have been 9 pm. We opted to come back the next day. While we were at home, preparing for sleep, at 10:30, my husband gets a call from the office, saying that the paperwork was ready, and it would take 10 minutes to complete. Absolutely no consideration for the fact that it was 10:30 pm on a Saturday night. Absurd experience and I would never tell any one to do business with this franchise.

From the time at least two trusted friends recommended I go to Carmax to sell my car (my Farmers Insurance agent & my pastor), I had nothing but great service experiences with them!From Carmax website I was able to get an offer on my car after filling out data requested about my car, a 2007 Honda Pilot in good working condition with about 185,000 miles. When I called Carmax to check my pending DMV transfer status, the customer service & business service department personnel were always kind & helpful. I made my appt online at the Buena Park Carmax, and when I arrived, the folks there were all so courteous & helpful! The gentleman assigned to help me through the process was as nice & helpful as can be, and the business office staff were also very kind & helpful. In my rush to get there, I forgot my mask, but the business office staff provided me one. Finally, when I returned to the business office to sign & receive my paperwork (and check), the lady who helped me was super nice & helpful, as were her nearby colleagues, who were happy and kind with me.Thank you very much for being such a professional, helpful company, with courteous and kind folks working there, from customer service by phone, to all the helpful staff who work there! I will definitely use Carmax in the future, and refer them to anyone & everyone I know who needs to buy or sell a car !!! :)Dwayne

Walked in the store at 6:30pm to test drive a Dodge Charger, was told to wait 20-30 minutes to meet with a sales rep. Okay cool, thats a reasonable time, no worries. Checked in with reception again after the 30 minutes and was then told wait times are actually over an hour. Waited just shy of an hour and a half and by 7:50pm still had not been approached by any sales rep, and since the store closes in an hour, theres absolutely no time to close a purchase. At this point, the same receptionist was somehow under the impression we were waiting for an appraisal and wait for it, WAIT SOME MORE for a sales rep, when theres obviously not enough time left to go through the whole buying process.Come here if you enjoy long waits and rude service, but if you value your time like most would, Id advise against car shopping here. Ive been to many car dealers before and its actually hard to imagine a dealer that neglects sales opportunities/ customers looking to purchase. I would highly suggest going to other car dealers, where they will actually greet you in a friendly, professional attitude, unlike this one, where not a single employee showed any form of professionalism let alone friendliness.I never write reviews, but this experience has been too frustratingly terrible to not give customer feedback.
