The ice cream here is amazing and the staff are so friendly. I got the coffee/cookies + cream and its such a good flavor. The staff gave us such big scoops too so we were very happy about that. It is a little pricey (we spent about $20 for two cones that had two scoops each).

Got a medium cone with a scoop of cookies n’ cake batter and peach ice cream. The latter was familiar and wonderful, the latter was so refreshing and creamy, and overall it was a lot of good ice cream!

As someone who has been in a deeply committed relationship with ice cream my whole life, I can confidently say that JP Licks has excellent ice cream (and other, non-dairy options) that are sure to satiate. The staff is always very efficient, hard working, and mindful at this location. They also offer some seating and pints to go.

My favorite ice cream spot, way better than all the other chain ice cream shops. They are allergy conscious and have many different flavors.

I love to meet my friends here in the evening to hang out. The sundaes are absolutely amazing and the variety of toppings to choose makes it so much fun. Also try the affogato! And since my sister and I both work overnight sjifts every now and then, we especially appreciate that this is one of the only places that still serves coffee late in the evening

You might enjoy an art exhibit or live music while you wait in line. We did (see photos).

Very good ice-cream with an amazing verity of flavors. Service is amazing and outdoor seating available. Coffee is also good and a large verity of toppings. Take out pints and quarts are also an option. Frappes are extremely good, I recommend getting them extra thick.

Service was quick, friendly. Pretty empty on Saturday afternoon. Dairy free cappuccino ice cream was tasty.

I waited with my 2 kids in line for almost 15 minutes with only two people in front of me. The service was not good. Not enough staff. Nothing wrong with the servers. As soon as the guy came to serve me someone came out of the back. Very frustrating.

Good icecream of course..but you cant go here often..you gotta go here every blue moon for a treat..because a cone with two scoops of ice cream is $8.00 and change..too much..but go once a month to treat yourself, but definitely NOT often.

This place is such a Boston classic so youd think it would be good! Ive gone here many times and every time I come away with this terrible coating in my mouth. The ice cream feels whipped, not smooth. It must have stabilizers because it melts weirdly and becomes a think glob of mucus in your cup/cone/mouth. The flavors sound good but theyre executed horribly and everything is way overpriced, even for Boston. I have no clue why this place is popular... Do yourself a favor and just go to Emack & Bolios

Had we done our research, we would have made a special trip for this ice cream but instead, we stumbled upon JP Licks, thus cementing our memory of this place as one of those happy traveler discoveries. For some reason, I am really annoyed by the name -- JP Licks sounds like a strip club or just plain corny. The blood red dripping glass lights are also out of place and cheesy. Once I got beyond this, I was enamored with this neighborhood ice cream shop with a good menu, interesting flavors and creamy, delicious ice cream. I had the Cherry Garciaparra, a nice play on words for this small Boston chain. With a sidecar of hot fudge, it was perfect. I also tried the butter pecan and the peanut butter chocolate chip, all with hot fudge on the side. The hot fudge was thick and rich. For those who care, this location (i dont know about the others) is kosher certified. On Saturday night, there were leftover challahs on the counter! Change the name, lose the corny lights and keep making great ice cream!

This is an iconic local ice cream shop. I like the fact they are open until midnight. Their ice cream is good, although it could improove a little by increasing fat content and adding some more inventive flavors, although their selection is wide. Their hard yogurt is superb and tastes as good as their ice cream, I highly recommend the peanut butter chip.

While I wish there were a vegan ice cream shop in this corner of town, it sure is nice that J.P. Licks always stocks a few unique vegan ice cream flavours. We love visiting Brookline Booksmith then coming here for a treat on a hot day. I prefer their creamy flavours, often nut, hemp, or coconut based. When they have something chocolate its almost impossible to resist. They can also make dairy-free shakes if thats your thing.The biggest downside here is the crowds. Its hard to find parking, and the shop can get very loud with a long line. If youre getting toppings on your ice cream, make sure to check the bins during busy times to make sure bits of something else havent fallen into the topping youve chosen, especially if you have allergies.The serving sizes here are huge. A kiddie cup is more than sufficient, and often we just share one. My ideal would be a stevia-sweetened vegan flavour, but thats a rare find anywhere.There arent many tables here, so be prepared to wait or take your ice cream to go. There arent really any good parks or shady benches close by.

Yum great fudge

This is a great location in the Brookline area. You can find a lot of options here and the location is large enough to easily find places to sit down and enjoy your ice cream with friends or family. Parking is difficult at night, but you can usually find spots just around the corner past the store. We were able to do so after hours without much difficulty.

Ice creams are good but they should know some people take time to decide and when we placed the order, they gave half a scoop in a small size cup.When I asked if this was the usual quantity for a small, the lady at the billing was kind enough to charge kiddie price as she knew it was not right.

Always been a great place for ice cream. The vanilla based ice creams are top notch. The chocolate is thick and flavorful. The coffee ice cream is strong as hell! They have quite a number of non Ice cream options. Frozen yogurt, vegan ice cream, sherbet, and sorbet. Grapefruit sorbet is fantastic. Its a bit pricey, but the portion size is good. When you get a large sundae, ask them to put it in a banana split dish. Otherwise they put it in a large soda cup. Its annoying and messy to eat in those. They also make ice cream cakes which are expensive but delicious. Expect a line on any hot summer evening, and sometimes in the winter, but it gives quickly and the wait is worth it. JP licks is one of the few places that expanded to a chain without starting to suck. Enjoy!

All the treats are delicious, whether you choose dairy, soy, hemp, or other base. They always stock a number of classic favorites, plus several unique flavors of the month. This chain is local to Greater Boston and they give back generously to the community, which makes it the last splurge I will cut from my budget. Enjoy!

Came here multiple times! Love this place. They have awesome flavors that I couldnt find elsewhere. I got the cookies n cream, and bourbon flavored one (sooooo good!). Their portions are great! Usually small fills me up. They have lots of room to sit and eat there but it is usually packed. They have lots of toppings to choose from. Would definitely come back!

The ice cream is the point so thats what Ill stick to. Not my favorite in the city but its pretty darn good. Soft serve if you swing that way. Join their free loyalty program, and theyll give you a free sundae on your birthday too. Just stick to the ice cream!

Not my favorite location, probably because the staff was a little surly. I did, however, try the peanut butter ice cream for the first time, and it was delicious. Also, the store itself was really clean and tidy. I do kind of miss the green AstroTurf on the walls, which I always thought was funny.

Fantastic ice cream made locally...and the frozen yogurt is even better! They also roast their own coffee beans. Great food and fun atmosphere...and the early/late hours are perfect for satisfying cravings any time of the day.

JP Licks is the best ice cream in Boston. Their mint chocolate chip rivals all other mint chips that Ive tried (and thats a lot!) I would highly recommend coming here!

A very popular local ice cream parlor that also caters to those who need non-dairy alternatives. Theres almost always a line of eager customers especially on a hot day. Its worth the wait though.

It looks like a good place but we didnt stay for coffees because they only had disposable cups except for two gigantic mugs. If they cant simply have some real coffee mugs, I have to move on.

This is a good JP Licks. The line moves quickly and there is plenty of seating. I think that some of the ice cream is too sweet, but thats my personal preference. I do like that they always have rotating flavors that change. The portions are huge, I always get a kids size scoop!

Pros: Convenient location for getting dessert after a dinner in Coolidge Corner. Lots of original, delicious flavors of ice cream. Never had to wait very long in line. Staff is polite. Two bathrooms on the back wall.Cons: Pricey. Despite the large store footprint, there never seems to be enough seating, certainly not for a big group. As expected from an ice cream store, everything is a little bit sticky.

The best ice cream around! I prefer it to Ben and Jerrys, however some of my friends would argue with me about that. The servers are very friendly and the environment is fantastic. I strongly recommend trying their flavors of the month.

Always great ice cream flavors. The coffee is excellent too. Have been at a couple of the stores and all are great. Always visit JP licks when we visit boston. The hard ice cream is actually a little soft....not as soft as gelato...but not hard like some places where its hard to get the plastic spoon into the scoop. Did I say the flavors are awesome. Highly recommend.

Good peanut butter Sundae, but they were out of whipped cream and didnt inform us until it was too late. We did, however, get a bonus peanut topping to make up for the lack of cream. Overall, a delicious sundae!

The flavors were awesome, they would give you huge scoops of ice cream! The only thing was is that it was sooooo crowded sometimes you cant even find a spot to sit and sometimes even getting cramped in there waiting in a line just for your ice cream.

Legitimately my favorite place to get ice cream in the area of Brookline. Coming from Boston Allston Brighton or Newton I cant think of a place I rather get my ice cream from.Flavors are great, options are plenty, and the staff is friendly. Not much more than I could ask for

Utterly Delicious... On a hot summer day there is nothing better then coming to J.P. licks and trying one of their many unique flavors. My tastebuds were in euphoria over the maple walnut ice-cream and I couldnt have been more disappointed when I looked down at my bowl to see I had finished it all. My friend was in the hospital so I bought him a chocolate shake from here. It made his taste buds happy and improved his spirits for a short spell.

Love this location. Im picky and need my ice cream a specific way to be happy. The staff here always accommodate my weirdo request with willingness and a smile. Always packed but they move the line along really quickly. Best location of JP Licks Ive been too, and definitely my favourite. The seating area does get a but messy, but I feel like thats more on the clientele being primarily spoilt, self-involved Brooklineites and not on the staff. Definitely visit here for such good ice cream and top of the line service.

Traditional Ice Cream Shoppe with untraditional flavors. JP Licks scoops huge servings of Ice Cream even in their smaller cups. They have a wide variety of flavors and even have some that gluten/sugar free options. Its a great place to get a tasty treat.

Plenty of options, it’s a must go to if you are in the area. frozen yogurt is also really good here. My favorite flavor is the tart yogurt.
