We have been using Kaufman Fuel Oil to supply us with heating oil & to service our home heating system. They expertly serviced our furnace at our last house from 1988 until 2019 when we moved to another house. They continue to service our oil fired boiler at this house.The technicians are all knowledgeable & very friendly. They respond to any service issue we have had & quickly. The office staff is friendly & helpful. We highly recommend them to anyone who uses oil in their home!
I have been a Kaufman Fuel customer for over 40 years. Before Kaufman Fuel became part of HOP energy, it was like dealing with a family. Today, the staff is still like a big family. I am still a customer and the main reason is because of the staff. I spoke to Pam the other day and as always she was very accommodating and helpful. But not only Pam, but all of the women I speak with are very polite patient and professional even when I drive them crazy. I always prefer one service man (Carlos)because he knows my system heating and air conditioning and makes suggestions as if it were his own. In times when Carlos is not available, any of the other service persons were also very capable. We had our boiler serviced on A Friday and had no heat on Sunday when the outside temperature dropped. Kaufman came out and discovered the valves were still closed. He quickly solved the issue and heat was restored. Great prompt customer service. Thank you Kaufman.

I recently had my in-ground oil tank removed and a new tank installed in the basement. The team that arrived to accomplish this work were employees from Kaufman that installed the new tank, and employees from a Kaufman contractor that did the outside work. I had my annual burner servicing today, and Barry is the most efficient,courteous and knowledgeable burner tech at Kaufman. Rarely make reviews but had to comment on the great service we received yesterday. We returned from trip to find that boiler was no longer working. Sam, our technician,showed up quickly and then provided a brief tutorial on the workings of a boiler since this is the first time we have had this type of system. He then expertly diagnosed and corrected the problem. Yay-hot water again!! We had several other questions which he thoroughly answered. We are happy customers of Kaufman Oil.

Once again, this year, I am delighted with the service that Kaufman has provided. Their service technician, Ed Bender is OUTSTANDING! This is the second year he has serviced the furnace/hot water unit that Kaufman did such an excellent job installing over five years ago. The unit is like new and Kaufman service has kept it that way. Perhaps it seems strange for a satisfied Kaufman customer to say this, but I can buy oil from a lot of providers. What keeps me coming back to Kaufman year after year is excellent service personnel like Ed Bender. He works thoroughly, answers all my questions patiently and clearly (I’m a retired engineer - go figure), and demonstrates a competency born of years of experience. He has a great work ethic as well. He does work for others as he would have work done for him. I look forward to requesting his help next year.
The service call was completed, but the job was not. Our service technician was friendly, competent, willing and resourceful. He could have done it if the parts that were ordered were complete, but they were not. This is also a job that had been requested months ago, and they are only now getting around to it. No sense of urgency at Kaufman if there is even a trickle of heat.

Let me start by saying that this company has the worst customer service I have ever experienced!! I’ve been having an ongoing issue with my furnace that has not been resolved. Every time a tech comes out its a guessing game. Fist time they came out I was told that there was air in the system and it would have to be drained and it would be covered under my contract. After the tech left the noise was still there. Obviously it wasn’t that! So I called the office to let them know and they sent another tech. The second tech told me that it needed 2 air vents and 1 would be covered under my contract but not the 2 one. So hey, I agreed to pay for the part because I was told and I just wanted it fixed. Once again, after the tech left the problem was not fixed. Called the office asked to speak to the service manager to express my frustration and never got a call from him. So I called again and spoke to a rep about it and I was told that he gave me credit for the part. Ok, that was nice but Soon after I received a bill for $140. Once again had to call the office and spoke to Shantell asking why am I getting billed when I was clearly told that it was covered under my contract?! with an attitude she told me that it’s a part that is not covered and I’m responsible for the charges. I don’t have a problem paying if I’m told their is a charge! Don’t tell your customers that it’s covered under your service contract and then stick them with a bill!! She then told me that she would send another tech to check the work.. I told her in the meantime please have your service manager call me since I left him 3 messages and he didn’t have the curtesy to return any of my messages. Not even this Jessica women that’s the customer service manager returned my call! So it doesn’t end here! Last tech comes out and tells me that it needs some other part but don’t I worry it will be covered under my service contract and i shouldn’t have a problem now. Well I just got another bill for a part that I was reassured that would be covered under my plan. Not sure what they are trying to do but this is not how you run a business!! All I’m asking is for the service manager or the owner to give me a call. This has been such a horrible experience!

Their service representative Pam was very knowledgeable and accommodating regarding my multiple request regarding upcoming service and contract. If there is ever an issue, its resolved with a phone call- good customer service is a dying art. Keep up the great service.

I wish I remembered the name of the service tech who came to look at our central AC. He deserves a raise. When he realized that he didn’t have the right size filter in his van, he apologized a million times. Then when he was leaving, he told me he’d make a note to have someone drop off a filter because that’s part of our contract. I told him not to worry about it because I could easily go get one at Home Depot. Anyway... about 5 hours later, his van pulled back into my driveway... he brought the filter himself. Talk about going out of your way to finish the job. Unreal. Thank you!

January 14, 2020 serviceThe work was done quickly and the service technician was very nice. However he was given the wrong measurement and had to leave and return with new part. Also, I would have preferred if he called me to look at the job and explain what he did before leaving. Also, there was an external piece to the pipe that was the original and rusted inside. Not sure why it was not also replaced. Good to have a recap at end of service call and who to call if this or that should occur.
The technician showed up on time, did the necessary maintenance and left. Perfect.

I am a 25 year + customer of Kaufman Fuel. Annually sign an automatic contract. This years contract concluded 7/29/20. Surprised the oil truck hasnt come by yet this season. Today, November 29, no heat in the house, no oil truck and NO ONE responding on the emergency service line to help (if even connected). Cold and VERY disappointed.

I had a bad experience. My mistake was going through a nationwide company that referred me here and insisted I pay them in advance. To be fair I expect Ill get a refund of the amount I paid, which was $700 more than what was delivered. I will give it a few days, to be refunded, and have the paperwork ready to put a dispute my credit card. I strongly recommend going directly to the company you are getting the deliveries from. I was given four different stories from four different people where I ordered the oil, and here was someone else doing the delivery with a completely different idea of what I expected. Dont use a middle man--ever.

Stay away this Fuel company. They will increase your Fuel price w/o any notification. I was charged $4.99 when the market price was $2.11. I already called them to cancel my account, but they still charged me $541.32 as the service invoice even they dont provide any service.

If you order a set amount of gallons from this company you should measure your tank if you can before and after the delivery. I was short 5.25 gallons after my delivery. I wonder how many times they shorted me in the last four years. The delivery manager couldnt care less her statement was our meters were just certified.

John was just here to do the yearly cleaning on our furnace. Excellent, clean work. He also purged the air from the system when I told him about pipe gurgling. As usual, Kaufman gets it done.

Kaufman fuel is a terrible company. They continued to fill my tank even though I never resigned a contract. They charged me $3.79 a gallon! When I called for 24 hour service my call was never returned, and their customer service is rude and money driven. Specifically Jessica Nieves. Do not use this company! Support small independent companies.
Stay far away from this company. They replaced an air conditioning condenser for a family member. In the four years since replacing it, they have been out numerous times for service calls. Now they want to charge over $1,000 to diagnose the problem. When confronted about the cost and the fact the unit is only four years old the response is, pay the money or find someone else. Clearly a company that does not stand by their work. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THEM!!!!!

Had a serious problem with my furnace today, serviceman John came out, fixed it quickly, and also discovered that there was a large buildup of soot in my chimney that he promptly broke up and cleaned out, my furnace is like brand new since John came out, I cannot say anything better, very professional, knowledgeable and friendly, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! please dont ever leave John, and TYVM!
Awful customer service! I called to inquire about my interest in setting up service. I made it clear I did not want to commit to anything right this instant.The woman with a piss-poor attitude hung on me when I would not provide my name. I was weighing my options in the area and I was honestly considering Kaufman but this makes my decision easy. Why would I give my money to a company that hangs up on me in my first interaction with them? Are you serious? I was a legitimate potential customer and this is how you treat me? I can only imagine how they treat you once they have you locked into a service plan! I honestly feel like her hanging up on me was a blessing in disguise. Thank god their customer service was so horrific or else I may have chosen them and been stuck. Avoid at all costs!

Impossible to end Automatic deliveries even once contract is over. Tried calling, emailing… And still the trucks keep coming filling oil tank to the top even at end of spring after emails to stop filling tank because im looking to make switch to nat gas. In retrospect, its worth the few extra cents per gallon for a company that’s contactable.

It’s always a pleasure talking to Carolyn,she answeres all my questions immediately,explaining my contract in a language that’s understandable,they never left me cold,when furnace problems occur “generally the coldest day on a weekend” they’ve always called with an eta and stuck to it,even after my furnace went under water after Sandy,the came the day after my electricity came back,replacing electrical components to get me up and running,no shenanigans saying I needed a whole new system when most beach residents were completely devastated,old school business with a heart👍

Im glad I chose Kaufman Fuel. We switched from Sippin to Kaufman because of Sippins poor customer service--they actually pitted me and my husband against each other to try to get access to our garage security code for easier delivery rather than patiently arrange it when we were home. Kaufman has been good with scheduling, patient with payment, and easy to get a hold of in an emergency. Im glad were using them now.
Signed contract @ $2.749, charged at $3.799 after 800 gallons delivery. It is a big trap. Customer service is terrible!

Make sure you read the contract before signing ! A week before expiration of my contract they delivered 270 gallons at $1.25 more than my price protection plan ! Glad to be done with this company !!

My parents converted over from gas to oil and they decided to go with Kaufman Fuel. They were really pleased with the work Kaufman Fuel provided for them.
Just awful, cancelled service and they still delivered over my contracted amount for a lot more money, after telling me a month before that they couldnt deliver because my tanks were full. Delivered 250 gallons a month later with my heat having been off the whole time. See my BBB complaint, and Dept. of Weights and Measures says its their word against mine, and its on me to prove it. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
