Ordered a pair of the versatility chaps in Honey color and they arrived within two weeks time. They look great and the medium size fits me perfectly (I am 510 175 lbs.) Very happy with the quality of the leather. Zippers are heavy duty and the laced fringe looks awesome. Love the fit and would highly recommend.

Called up STT because they had two similar saddles I liked with a big price gap. The main saddle man was very forthcoming about the reasons for the gap and answered all of my questions well. I ordered the better saddle that day. It arrived within 3 days. It fits my good horse perfectly, makes my butt smile and the craftsmanship is of much higher quality than I expected for such a reasonably priced wood. I couldn’t be happier! I’ll definitely be bringing my business here again and recommend South Texas Tack to every horse person I know!

Great place to get tack for your horses, boots for yourself and hats. Now let’s talk about hats, they will help you pick the perfect western hat, shape it and fit it to your head. Very friendly staff- you can even drink an adult beverage while you shop.

I like South Texas Tack because they have a huge selection of horse tack & cowboy boots. I had occasion to do a return on a piece of tack yesterday, and it was a smooth, pleasant process. That was greatly appreciated. I will be a repeat customer. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because their clothes are WAY overpriced and only for skinny people.

Couldnt have asked for a better experience! I originally called this store to see if they did saddle fittings. Steve the owner helped me out and we scheduled a date for me to come in. Throughout the whole process he was so helpful. Going back and fourth and teaching me everything I needed to know with no guarantee I would buy something from him. I ended up leaving there that day with a few purchases (They had a ton of cute tack/clothes). Went home to think about it all and ended up going back to purchase a STT saddle. It was the best decision I couldve made. The saddle is so beautiful and well made. It fits my horse perfectly and shes getting around the barrels better than ever! I would recommend this shop for anything you need especially saddles. If you ever have a problem just ask for Steve!

We made a decision to stop by on our return from Austin and were not disappointed. We were greeted by multiple people as we shopped. It was nice to buy for our horses in a local shop and not on line! We then went to get a hat and Brandon treated us like family. Measured my husbands head and fitted him perfectly. He took his time and styled his hat. What a great shopping experience.

Great place for horse needs
We are so lucky to have South Texas Tack in Washington county. Quality leather tack with reasonable prices. Specifically, I love their headstalls and reins. Plus, STT satisfies my fancy clothes shopping need/additiction that I picked up during the time I lived in Houston. The staff is always friendly and theyve started bringing in food trucks occasionally during lunch which is a lot of fun.

Ive been here many times. If I can I try to buy my jeans and boots strictly from them. They have very friendly and helpful staff. Matter of fact I need to go here get a new hat. They have even customized a saddle I bought from them for me. It was and still is beautiful.

They have a lot of tack and supplies that you will need for your horse, goat, or farm animal need. And they have apparel. I did not get to venture to that side of the store but you should go there too.

Never heard of them before and came upon them through Google. I have nothing but great things to say! They had the Tom Balding bit I was looking for and I got it so quickly! I will definitely be ordering again.
We always liked to shop here because the last two trips that we have made here in the past month we have walked out without what we came for. The fly spray that I have bought here for years has suddenly increased in price by over three dollars; a feed store down the road sells many of the same products I use several dollars cheaper. On the last visit I asked for assistance with several things I was informed that they were to busy with the job fair to help me. I have never had these issues before, waited for over thirty minutes trying to get help with boots never received any customer service so we finally gave up and left. They do have a wide selection of goods but they have become extremely over priced.
First time attempting to do business with this company. I ordered stirrups three weeks ago. There was no indication that they were out of stock or on backorder. I was billed the day they were ordered.Yesterday, they said the stirrups had been received at South Texas Tack, were packaged, would ship yesterday, and they would send me shipping confirmation. Seems it didnt happen as there still is no shipping confirmation.Cant say I recommend them. Especially since they billed me three weeks ago and still havent shipped. Also, wouldve been nice if the website had indicated the item I wanted was out of stock. Poor experience.
Really expensive. Seems overpriced for the area that its located in. Ive seen the same items more reasonably priced around Houston. Id stop again tho if Im in the area. Happy with the purchases I did make.

Every time I have gone to this awesome store I have been able to find exactly what I need and sometimes more! It has a great variety of everything you need to keep you and your horse happy! It is one of my favorite stores in the area!
Great selection of tack and western wear. Helpful and friendly staff, who really know their stuff. Ive never seen a better selection of bits & bridles, ropes, and leather. The only reason that its 4 stars instead of 5 is that theyre kind of pricey - their prices on some items were roughly double what some other places or online charge; while others were pretty much in line with everyone else if not just a bit more. But, if you need to get the right tack in a hurry and youre not sure where to go... chances are that STT has it!! We stop by every time we can when traveling between Austin and Houston to buy some necessities and drool over the niceties.
Best place in Brenham to get tack, supplies, clothes, boots or anything you need for that matter. They offer free hat shaping and have a bar as well so you can drink while you shop!

Very disappointed. 4 months ago, I ordered a 7 7/8 hat. South Texas verified available. My wife bought clothes. A week later, I was asked to come back to get measured because it was a requirement of hat manufacturer. My wife bought more clothes.I was called last week and was told my hat was in. I was given a 7 3/4 hat that squeezed my oversized head. By the head of the hat department, I was told it would stretch out. Then he said it would shrink when it got hot... which it will in Texas. I asked what happened to the 7 7/8 or 8 hat and was told they werent made... which is not true. There are size 8 straw hats and South Texas Tack just didnt want to help. Which I understand, just not sure why I had to go there 3 times before telling me this.No more shopping at South Texas Tack. If I wanted this type of service, there are several Houston western wear stores.

This place has everithing! We went there to look for a hat for me on the recommendation of a friend. They have an enormous variety and a large selection of clothes for reasonable prices. Excellent sale deals, as well. This in addition to the huge tack inventory.
I purchased a pair of Ariat boots from South Texas Tack back in October 2019. Fast forward to January 2020; After 3.5 months of normal everyday wear, no extreme wear in muddy/wet conditions, the leather on the boot separated from the sole. After reading through Ariat’s warranty policy, which states that the Authorized Retailer should honor Ariat’s 1 year warranty that covers manufacturers defects in workmanship, I contacted South Texas Tack. South Texas Tack informed me the issue should be covered and to bring the boot into the store for approval/inspection. I drive 40 miles to the Brenham location, only to be told that they will charge me $20 and ship them to Ariat for inspection and should take 4-6 weeks (this message was relayed from a manager in the back that I can only assume was too busy to meet with a customer face to face). Unsatisfied with this outcome I contacted Ariat personally for a better explanation. Ariat informed me the Authorized Retailer (South Texas Tack) should have honored the warranty and offered an in store replacement. Within 3 minutes of emailing pictures to Ariat I was sent a pre-paid shipping label to return my boots and Ariat (not charged $20). Ariat informed me that my replacement will arrive within 2 weeks of receiving the return tracking number (not possibly 4-6 weeks as informed by South Texas Tack). Will I buy Ariat boots again? Absolutely! Will I shop at South Texas Tack again? Absolutely not!

Had to wait at cash register several minutes. Cashier not in site. Then when I asked a question about product, she didnt know answer, and seemed not to care. They also didnt have my size in stock. Didnt seem to care about that either. So....I left without purchasing and WILL NOT darken their door step again. Went home and ordered from Amazon. Be here tomorrow.

When it is time to stock up on supplies my friends and I take the day and we carpool down to South Texas Tack ( from the greater Austin area ) to go shopping! South Texas Tack has everything you can think of there and at great prices. They also have online shopping but that isnt as fun as our road trips! Almost time to go again!
My wife bought a pair of boots here as a Christmas gift for me. They didnt fit, so I tried to return them for an exchange a few days after Christmas. I was surprised to see this place is shut down from Christmas through New Years – so much for customer service. I returned again when they finally reopened with the boots still in the box, tags still attached, unworn, with the receipt. The clerk and manager explained that they offer NO REFUNDS ON ANYTHING. They said it was in fine print on the receipt – given to you after they have your money.I asked my wife, and she said that no one said there was such a restrictive policy. In fact, she said she noticed a separate clearance room offering discounted items with a “no returns or refunds” sign, but did not shop in that section, since she knew there was a good chance that I would have to return the style/size. She said there were no conspicuous notices anywhere in the main store where she bought my boots at full price – not on sale/clearance, etc. The salesperson helping her also did not disclose this harsh no refunds policy.Ive shopped here before, but will never again. We try to buy locally, and often pay much higher prices to do so. At the very minimum, we expect to have the most basic of customer service standards when buying locally. South Texas Tack’s prices are already sky high. I can only imagine how they take advantage of the unsuspecting folks from Houston passing through. This is the kind of company that rips off tourists, and relies on weekend cowboys to stay in business. Don’t shop here! I never will again!
