All I can say is wow! These guys at Action sports rock!! I’m here at powder ridge for my first ever race and I’m having bike issues. These guys helped me out big time. If it wasn’t for the “Dave and Danny show” I wouldn’t be racing today. There’s a another bike shop here with a stand and they wouldn’t help me. Thank you for everything Action Sports I owe my day to you.
I recently purchased a Liv road bike from Action Sports...and am SO excited. David is an informative cyclist and stand-up guy who not only sold me the bike, but delivered it himself and gave me riding tips! I am new to road biking and can’t wait to hit the pavement. Honestly cant say enough good things about Action Sports, ESPECIALLY Dave! He was kind, courteous, helpful, and most of all honest! Never tried to push high dollar extras on me, just what I needed as he understood Im a budget conscious rider. The shop was fully stocked of anything you could possibly need and thats a HUGE plus in the biking world we live in post COVID! Everyone in the shop is kind and helpful and Id recommend going to see Dave for ANYTHING YOU NEED!
One of the best bike shop experiences I’ve ever had. Broke my chain while far away from my usual bike shop. Turned out the manager of this place was friends with my favorite guy from my local bike shop. The cost came out to less than originally quoted. He did exactly what I asked, no more no less, in 10 minutes flat. God bless this shop!
I’d give ten stars if it were possible. The new manager of the bike shop has a real understanding of what great customer service means. His knowledge of bikes speaks volumes to his dedication and passion for the sport and the progress of the business. Although I didn’t buy anything that day, when I’m ready to buy bicycles for the family I will go no where else. I truly appreciate the attention I was given. Thank you David.
I would recommend buying bikes from Action Sports because the customer service and help provided by Dave, the bike shop manager, is the unbeatable. However, to be honest, I wouldn’t shop again at Action Sports if Dave left because my main concern is with the quality of the products does not match the pricing but Dave takes care of any issues. I purchased a Cannondale Quick 5 for 750$ (which seems a little high as well) and had multiple major issues which should not be the case for a new expensive bike. First, the barrings in wheel hub were dislodged and within 10 miles of riding, the wheel literally fell apart. Luckily, I noticed this while I was stopped otherwise it could have been a major health risk. Second, the pedals were not adjusted properly so when you pushed hard up a hill, they would give a bit. This is not acceptable for a such an expensive brand-new bike. Fortunately, Dave agreed, and immediately took action to solve these issues in a high quality and timely manner. He replaced the wheel, pedals, and offered to deliver the bike to my house, all free of cost. Working with Dave is great because he is a knowledge, dependable, hardworking, and has a fantastic positive-minded attitude. Like I said earlier, given the major issues with this bike, I wouldn’t shop here again unless I knew Dave was working here to fix any problems I could have.
This store is great. I wanted to try mountain biking, but know nothing about the sport, so I figured I’d get a couple of things to prepare and take a lesson at Powder Ridge. I went here and they spent a ton of time helping me understand the bare essentials of what I’d need, plus what I’d want in the future if I continued to ride. On top of that, the guy told me he goes riding at Powder Ridge and would give me pointers for free, which he did. They have a customer for life. The store itself has a big selection, but as a beginner, it’s the help I got that will keep me coming back.
I would definitely recommend buying from this store. William Dill was professional, knowledgeable and helpful with my purchase. He took the time to make sure I received the right product. Hands down best bike shop on the shoreline. The store manager Dave is a stand up guy and has plentiful knowledge in the mountain biking sport. I’d recommend this shop a million times over. Top notch service, friendly staff

Bought a bran new bike and it had front folks issues from the start . No service techs hired at the time had to wait til they hired someone . Brought bike back to check it and 2 service techs went thru entire bike and gave it back to me with same issues and they said bike was in perfect shape . Had to bring it back again, now the bike was unsafe to take back so they could try finding new folks for my bran bike but it’s unlikely he said . So they just kept the bike and returned money . I never go back again, very very poor service .
I met Dan and Dave from action sports Branford at an even this weekend and they couldn’t have been more helpful, if it wasn’t for them and their expertise i dont know what I would’ve done. I had a handful of people that had tried to help me with an issue on my bike and no one managed to find a solution apart from them. Most of my local shop brush questions I have off without care. 99% of the time a shop will only care about what they sell and that’s it. Dave answered all my questions and went out of his way to help me find the right fit for me. Definitely recommend this shop! I’ll be back for sooner then later!

I had visited Action Sports in Branford with my daughter to purchase some ski equipment and met a salesman by the name of Bill. He was quite knowledgeable in all categories of the sport. From expert boot fitting, goggle fitting and apparel recommendations he was top notch! I will make sure to ask for Bill any time that I go to Action Sports and won’t settle for anyone else. He had a great demeanor and answered every question that my daughter and I had. I will certainly bring my younger daughter next year ANL look for Bill!
This is the best bike shop ever. Plus l see they sell more than bikes. Cant waite to go back.I bought an e bike and employee Danny customized this bike for me. I immediately fell in love with this bike. Danny knows his stuff and is very skilled. He has built bikes all his life and is a very experienced rider himself. He can teach you something new about bikes even if you have experience with them. Its his passion and you can tell. Action Sports should feel very proud to have such a passionate employee about their bikes. I am so glad l bought my bike at Action Sports because the personal touch they give you and the education about them speaks for itself. While l was there they sold 4 bikes. Wooo Wooo. Thanks to a bad experience at the bike shop closer to my house I brought my Mountain Bike to Dave at action sports! Parts being scarce made it hard to find the bottom bracket I needed to replace. Dave worked tirelessly to find the part and even called other shops in the New Haven area to find the part I needed. Dave and the team at action sports are the best! Never going to another bike shop. Now I am ready to hit the trails again! Thanks Dave!
I went to action sports the other day and the manager Dave was very helpful in pointing me in the right direction for a bike cause of Covid I decided to start riding again and definitely top notch experience and would recommend this place, thanks again for all the help

Bought ski boots which were comfortable and increased performance at a reasonable price. I also had a bicycle tuneup there, which was the best I have ever gotten. Gears changed fluently and everything rides smoother. Highly recommended.
In depth review.I was looking to get into a new ski setup. The whole set up, skis, boots, bindings, and poles. We ended up visiting both the Old Saybrook location and the Branford location.Old Saybrook Location: 1/5 starsWe went to the Old Saybrook location and I was pretty disappointed with the service there. The young man nonchalantly greeted me and did not seem to be very knowledgeable about ski boots and was on his cell phone most of the time. He measured the length of my feet and then showed me a few ski boots and the experience just didnt feel that great. I was looking for a professional boot fitting and I was quite disappointed with his laissez faire attitude. He said the Branford shop had a few more boots that might work for me. So we took the trip to Branford.Branford Location: 5/5 starsWhat a night and day experience. When we walked into the store I was immediately greeted and asked what I was looking for. What an amazing experience. I went to the ski section and was greeted by Kenny who asked what I was looking for. I said I am looking for a boot fitting and he went to work. He spent 45 minutes to 1 hour working with me on getting the perfect fit for my feet. He taught me quite a few things that I didnt know about ski boots and went through all of the features of the boots with me as well as helped me with custom molded inserts. Kenny was attentive, kind, funny, and a wealth of knowledge about skiing. I cannot speak highly enough of Kenny. If you want a personalized boot fitting and ski fitting experience Kenny at the Branford location is person to see.Kenny asked me several questions about my skiing abilities and was able to recommend a couple different skis and was extremely knowledgeable about the differences and benefits of each set. I ended up getting my entire ski package from Kenny at Action sports in Branford and I cannot speak highly enough of him. That was one of the best experiences in a ski shop I have ever had.Tl;Dr I would recommend going to the Branford location to see Kenny if you are looking for a full ski set up or a professional boot fitting.
Terrible customer service. I called at least 5 times trying to get a new fork for my bike that was in the shop and they would always tell me to call back later. I ended up picking up the bike without even getting it fixed after 2 months. Zanes has much better customer service.
Called looking for info on bike racks and fits because of limited availability. Could hear the sales rep complaining to a colleague about the length of the phone call. If you sell the products, you should have some base level of knowledge about them, however, I was told to do my own research and come back. While I was trying to gather more information because there is only one model left and I wanted to purchase it over the phone if possible, I called the employee out for his unprofessional behavior. The individual then hung up the phone on me. All in all terrible experience especially when I was in the process of trying to buy hundreds of dollars of equipment from them
Myself and my two boys went here to rent equipment for the first time we went skiing. The staff is very helpful and they have a good price on rentals. Overall staff had a great attitude and equipment was in great shade. Going to go there Friday and rent again.
My wife and I just purchased two E-bikes from Action Sports. We have been retail business owners for 37 years and we were so impressed with our experience. The complete team at Action Sports, Paul, Rich, Mike, Chelby and Bob were super informative and made us feel like family.Every business should take a lesson from the team at Action Sports.They have won us over for life; keep up the great work!

I went to the Old Saybrook store last Saturday. Chris and Nick were awesome! I left with a board and bindings... After doing a little more research, I realized that I bought the wrong deck!!! Total buyers remorse! Called Bob at the Branford store, and Ta Da! Let me exchange it for the one I wanted even though I had removed the plastic and stickers... That’s what I call awesome customer service!!! I highly recommend either locations!!!! You guys rule!!!!

Bob has social skills of a sloth. The east coast stoke is not anywhere even comparable to somewhere out west. Quite dissapointing to what was expected I suppose. Best of luck to future endevaors, Action Sports.
Had called around to get prices for bicycle tune ups and most places came in around the same at about $75-$80 per bike. Chose Action Sports due to convenience of Branford location. Dropped two hybrid mountain bikes off on a Saturday and was told they will be ready by Wednesday but got a call Wednesday saying they recommend getting tires replaced for additional $100 and they would be ready next day - Thursday instead. All said and done, bikes were not ready until following Wednesday. Went to pick up bikes and one of the bike seats was broken, dangling off the bike. I asked about this and person behind counter said bike came in like that. First, let me understand this, I own the bikes and dropped them off with both seats intact and working and now pick up bikes with one broken? Second, your freaking job is to tune up the bikes and LET CUSTOMER KNOW IF ANYTHING NEEDS TO BE FIXED. So a dangling bike seat is not something you recall seeing and then claim it came in like that? So that basically says you are either completely inept at your job and did not notice it or your company broke the seat and refused to take responsibility. Either way, I paid you $265 for incompetence. I was in a rush unfortunately and did not have the time to call out your negligence/incompetence, and a busy life lived has a way of throwing us or guiding us in many directions so we push episodes to the side, back burner... until we can revisit them. This review is my revisit. Will not return to Action Sports in Branford or any of their other locations. Disappointing experience which goes in the “do not recommend this company” file.
After many years of renting boots and skis, and many years of agonizing pain, that came along with tears, and people telling me “ Ski boots hurt, it’s just part of it”, I always questioned why anyone would ever ski? I was in so much pain every time I went on a ski trip. I finally admitted to my friends that this would be my last year skiing it just wasn’t fun with the pain, I came across an amazing woman that recommended buying my own boots and getting them fitted! Why didn’t anyone tell me this before?!? I hadn’t a clue I just thought “boots hurt” So...I had my boots fitted, Bob took his time and went above and beyond to make sure my boots fit perfectly! I was there for over two hours! Amazing job! I would recommend going to get your boots fitted at action sports!

Weve bought bikes and snowboarding/ski equipment at Action Sports in Branford. Shelby is knowledgeable and helpful. Unfortunately I cannot say that about the rest of the staff. Recently, I was looking for a new bike and some snowboarding equipment. The sales associate that I dealt with for the bikes told me he wasnt the bike salesman and said his manager would be out to help me get sized for the proper road bike. He came back a little while later and said his manager didnt want to come out to help me so hed have to guess what size bike I would need. I asked if I could test some bikes and he said ok. I had to get the bikes off the rack myself because he was talking to another associate. Needless to say, I decided not to buy a bike that wasnt the right size. I drove to Zanes and spent $1300 on a bike because they cared enough to help me.I thought Id give Action Sports another try and went in to look for snowboarding equipment. The sales associate was on a personal call, never even acknowledged that I was there, so after 10 minutes, I left. Youve lost my business once again.
