The gift shop is so unique and the wine selection great. Easy to spend a fortune without blinking an eye. Try the orange blossom body lotion. Definitely aromatherapy with relax.
The Mixon store is all about oranges and citrus. Fresh oranges, fresh grapefruits, orange juice, orange ice cream, orange wine and much more. The great thing is, you can taste everything before you decide to buy. Souvenir hunters also get their moneys worth. In the small cafeteria there is of course, how could it be otherwise, orange juice, orange muffins and other snacks. Everything sparkling clean and friendly staff everywhere. Thank you very much. 👍😎 Lets get to the “Orange Blossom Tram Tours” !!! VERY HONEST: WE ARE DISAPPOINTED AND HAVE PROMISED MORE OF THIS !!! 👎 A ride through measly citrus plants, NONE AND WIDE OF THE BEAUTIFUL ORANGE PLANTATIONS that we actually expected !!! 🧐 The only positive thing was the stop at the animals, where a ranger reports a lot of interesting facts about the local animals. It was really nice to get to know the baby alligator lady AMI. And to feel such an animal and hold it in your hands. This was a great experience for young and old children. 👍 Otherwise, for $ 10.00 per person, this ride was an absolute botanical letdown. We recommend investing this money in fine oranges! The shop therefore gets 5 stars, the tram only 1 star, TOTAL ERGO 3 stars for everything !!!
A few months after moving to Florida, we found a Groupon and ventured to Mixon Fruit Farms just for something to do. We had no idea how much they offered. We were expecting a tour of Apple trees and pumpkins but received a mini wildlife experience. My husband and I were just as entertained and amazed as our [then] three-year-old daughter. We are more than excited to return when out of town family come to visit. Definitely a great family experience.
My family and I visited to do something different and we got just that. Small old town southern farm. Loved it ! Everyone was nice, everything was delicious and the tram ride was super fun! Will definitely recommend.
One of the best places to visit in Florida! They have a amazing tour and an amazing wildlife sanctuary! There food is amazing and there orange juice is the best. The ice cream is the best and I recommend anyone to go here from the area and from out of town!
Interesting one hour tour. Fudge is very good. Food in the deli reasonably priced. Only downside was speaker had a short so we could hear what the driver was saying. Animal portion also interesting, the grandkids loved that part.
Such a great mom and pop type Fruit Farm and tour. Was a wonderful hour or 2 excursion. Wildlife and a little bit of knowledge about the farm really make it a great day trip for kids! They get to pet and hold some reptiles and animals, while also getting some history about how Oranges originated in Florida.Ice cream after the tour was a nice end to the tour, while the gift shop has a little bit of something for everyone at great prices. Nabbed myself a perfect hat! If you are within driving distance, it is definitely worth a visit!
It is a very country feel. I loved the tour of the grove and got to hold a live alligator, the staff are very polite and are in great spirits. The deli is to die for! I loved the pressed Cuban sandwich!!! We also tasted a variety of local wines. The icecream is a orange and vanilla swirl which was wonderfuI, reminds me of a push-up pop. I met a staff member Cookie who makes the fudge and have to say, l loved the key lime fudge. Its a great spot if you have kids and are looking for something different to do. I chose the koi food, glass of wine, and ice cream selection online. Loved the experience and the people. Will be back for another Cuban!!!!!!
My true respect for the Mixon Family. They have a little hidden gem on their hands. The staff are very polite, helpful, friendly and very organized. The tour is very nice, relaxing and informative. The store and its cafe are very well kept full of high quality products. When you come to this place, you just want to stay and admire all of the nice things around you.Nixon Family: I pray that this landmark continues on through further generations. I give you all 10 STARS for your superb accomplishments.
Maybe the best citrus farm to visit in west-central Florida! A large and diverse shop area, they have fresh citrus depending on what’s in season, tasty orange ice cream, wine tasting area, free samples of citrus drinks, and other market type food options. You can do a self-guided tour of their citrus packaging operations also. The other part is their wildlife tour, which is on the back of the property and you ride on the tram. It’s kind of a long tour, slightly boring, you get to see a few regional animals and hear lots of info about them. Kids get to touch a small gator. Maybe fun to do once, but the shop itself is nice enough to explore, sample, and shop if your need to save a little money.
We had a great time at Mixon Fruit Farms! We enjoyed the tour - the kids loved all the animals, and we had a wonderful lunch in the gift shop. The owner was there and made us feel very welcome. The staff were all really friendly and knowledgeable. We will be back!
Pretty good little diversion when visiting the Sarasota area. A cheap little spot to grab some lunch. Absolutely some of the best Florida orange juice around! A great Cuban sandwich too!!!Make sure to check out the gardens a pretty much hidden gem of a place. There is also a Grove tram tour which I did not do but its $10.00 per person
Mixons is a fun experience with tram tours, butterfly garden, koi pond, rescued animals and a lovely gift shop. They have a place to have lunch and they also have a place to arrange a private luncheon. One highlight is the vanilla ice cream and orange sherbet twist - homemade by Mixons.
The tram ride was terrific!! Daren, who gave the wildlife your was great. A great short day trip from Sarasota. We wanted to have lunch there, but the timing wasnt right. We did have some swirl ice cream. It was excellent!
Have not been there since the early 90s. Love this place and so happy I can visit more often again.
My visit to the farm Saturday was so much fun! Everyone there was welcoming and kind. Kayla gave a delightful tour, showing us different citrus fruits all growing, and then we got to pet rescued animals, and learn about their histories. My favorites were Speedy, who munched lettuce while we petted her, a white skunk, and a small, very soft alligator that we got to hold! My favorite parts of the craft fair were the local honey and Norma, who sells individually hand painted ceramics. I enjoyed my ice cream while visiting the coy pond and beautiful grounds. Thank you so much for a beautiful morning!
This is a great place! They have a self guided factory tour where you can see the oranges being reviewed and sorted. The gift shop is large with wonderful samples and their ice cream is delicious! The tram tour is a must - it takes you through the groves and they tell you the various tree types but the best part is the rescue animal area where you see and can touch turtles, snakes and baby alligators. Our whole family enjoyed it (ages 3 to 65).I rarely give anyone 4 stars rather than 5 and the only reason I did is because when we visited to see if we wanted to take our whole family there the tram had problems starting. We assumed it was a fluke but sure enough when we took our family the tram wouldnt start... it took an entire hour to fix but we then had our tram tour. They need to replace the engine! Besides that, everything was wonderful.
This was our 4th trip to Mixons and definitely wont be our last!We enjoy the tour around the grove. The tram driver is very informative and friendly.Included in the tour is a stop to see alligators, a blonde raccoon, tortoises, several birds of prey and a huge snake to name a few. All animals are rescued and could not survive in the wild on their own.Inside the is a lovely giftshoppe, lemonade stand, chocolate confection counter, ice cream shoppe, small lunch counter and public washrooms.
Stopped to grab some lunch before golfing at the course right down the street, food was GREAT, service was better. The orange and vanilla swirl ice cream was delicious. They sell bottles of wine and other trinkets. Must stop in.
This was a great way to spend a little time today since the weather was perfect for the hour-long tram ride which was very educational. The gift shop is very large lots of nice things to buy and we hope to go back in the fall or winter when the fruit is in season
I am amazed! This is our new favorite store! My 12 year old asks to go everyday. Lol. They have everything. Amazing food and everything you could imagine! James, honey, sandwiches and everything in between! We bought a house across the street and we will be there often! Definitely check it out!
You know it’s a great run place when the owner causally walks up to your family to ask you about your tour, to offer menu suggestions, and then runs off to help check out customers at the front because it got busy. That’s awesome service!! The tram tour was insightful and enjoyable. The wildlife reserve tour was awesome!!! Damen both rescues animals for the reserve and educates visitors about the animals taken in. All ages enjoyed the time spent there. Highly recommend!!
The actual tour of the fruit farm at Mixon Farm is quite minimal and we were rather disappointed at the limited tour of the farm itself. It basically consists of a short ride along one side of a short orchard, then down along the side of another and then the tour stops at the wildlife refuge. The Wildlife Refuge was really the highlight of the tour for us, as Damen, the wildlife expert, was extremely knowledgeable and engaging regarding all the animals that have been rescued and reside there. He is fantastic at imparting all of his knowledge about each species and is focused on important ecological and environmental issues as well, which was very informative. People also get to hold a small alligator if they choose to and pet one of the tortoises, which the children and adults both enjoyed! After the wildlife presentation was over we got back on the tram and went back behind the buildings and the tour was over. We thought we would go see more of the orchards, but we didn’t.The gift shop that is located at the farm is a very nice gift shop and contains a wide variety of items that were fairly reasonably priced. They also have orange ice cream, which was very good. We preferred the twist, which was vanillla and orange combined. The lady that was serving the ice cream was quite rude and unfriendly, which was unpleasant to deal with. She was an elderly woman and didn’t appear to appreciate having to deal with the public in general. We had purchased a Groupon before going to the farm, which saved us over half off, which made the tour much more reasonably priced. I would recommend others to do the same if they are considering going, as it includes free ice cream also.Overall, I would not recommend the tour to others, even though the wildlife presentation was excellent. I would probably just go to the store itself and purchase some of the local items that they sell there.
I purchased the tickets to the tram tour before going because this was my first time with my son whos 3. As soon as I walked in the door we were treated so well and welcomed. The tour is 10$ and you get to see a crocodile and baby alligator, birds & emus, a python, and a cute raccoon. You can pet/hold the baby alligator. What I REALLY liked during the tour was the guy who was giving our the tour, he was so nice & informative and attentive. The other man that was the one who explained everything about the animals is another perk to the farm because they are rescue animals, that cant be placed back into the wild. Its obvious he actually cares and loves these animals and they dont do It for the $ but for the best interest of these animals. The customer service here is great & any age could enjoy it here.Activities includeFREE wine and juice samples, great ice creams and sandwiches, a really cool play area for kids, koi fish you can feed and waterfall, cool shop inside, story time for kids, the tour, a maze with tons of butterflies.10/10 and 100recomeended. Ive been pretty much everywhere with my son in the area and this is by far the best and well kept/clean and cared for farm with amazing people.go
Clean open fun area for birthday party. Had a great time with my family
Very Nice! We came for the tram tour but did so much more equaling 3 hours of fun. And the kids didnt want to leave. A nice shop with Wine tasting. A sweet shop. Damon with Wildlife Inc. did a great presentation of the Animals hes rescued. Also a nice playground with inflatables for the kids and a Koi Pond that my kids just loved.Very nice place to visit.
Nice little variety shop. The orange sherbet is so good and refreshing!
Wow,So much to offer. It has been 35yrs since my last visit, when I was 10yrs old. So much has changed, but you still have all the goodies I remember. I love the Orange/Vanilla twist ice cream. Customer service was excellent. All of the staff so friendly and helpful. Our lunch was super also. I had the Cuban and my wife the chicken Philly. Keep up the great work. I hope to be back before another 35yrs pass...but Michigan is a good haul.
Great ice cream! I had the orange vanilla swim and it reminded me of the cream-cicles I used to eat when I was a kid. Fun store. Would definitely go by back.
I remember when they had the wooden floors. I do miss that old Florida charm.I love their orange juice, their orange cones, the fun to find cool stuff gift shop, their restaurant... but most of all, the smiling faces at the counters and registers. Its a feel good place when you walk in.I surely hope they stick around for a while, especially with all the development around them. Its getting rid of the tourist feel, creating an overpriced corner store vibe.
Whenever we are in the area, Mixons is a must. Always love the store and the tram ride. But today we ate lunch there also......delightful !!
Fun tour. More about the wildlife than the farming. Store has yummy jars of salsa and jam you can buy.
I love the fresh fruit. I was disappointed there was no fresh juice to have a couple drinks of. I got a bag of pink grapefruit. Sure this years crop will be as last years sweet and delicious! Oh! The Orange swirl ice cream is to die for! Never go there without an ice cream😀
I actually liked the tour enough to go back a second time to take different family members, but I gave it 4 stars because the fruit farm portion of the tour is pretty lame. I was expecting to drive through big orange trees but it was mostly small trees in a small area. The animal part of the tour however, is pretty cool. You can hold/take pictures with a small gator and a snake, and the guide does a really good job. The ice cream was pretty good too.
Great family of employees. Wonderful things to do for the family. Love the ice cream and orange groves. A must to see in Bradenton Florida.
The food from the deli was very fresh and a good value. HOWEVER, their website stated they had white grapefruit. They don’t even grow them there. So, I drove 24 miles for a take out lunch.
Good selection of local stuff but I was hoping for more fresh citrus options. Still very happy we stopped in.
Great place to go to visit some of Floridas roots, both for tourists and locals
Pretty neat, come here for fresh oranges and their homemade orange ice cream, best Ive ever had!
Been coming to this place for 37 years. What memories. Thx to Kent and the team for helping us last minute visitors today. So kind! Time to introduce the next generation to this local gem. The juice is so fresh and the ice cream so good. Thx mixons!
Having been here many times as a child while accompanying my grandparents delivering furniture from their store in PA, I was excited to visit again 22 years later. We visited on July 2nd, so it was obviously the off season for citrus fruit, however we still got to spend an hour there and enjoy some of the orange soft serve ice cream that I had been thinking about for the last 22 years. It was delicious! The staff there is fantastic and were very good at interacting with our 3 little girls, all under 5 years old. They are good people! Highly recommend stopping by, and we cant wait to visit again!
Mixon Fruit Farm is family owned and operated farm. It was a fantastic visit. My daughter was full of joy after holding baby gator, feeding tortoise. Ice cream was so fresh and tasty. There is small play ground for the kids. Would definitely recommend the ice cream :) Groupon usually run the offer for Mixon Fruit Farm tickets so give a try to save some bucks.
Had a great time, it was very entertaining, loved the orange swirl 🍦
Nice place to visit to see a working orange grove and get some REAL freshly made Florida orange juice. They make their own orange ice cream and local honey.
Great experience! I took my daughter and 3 of her friends. They were not very busy when we where there which was great because they were the only kids on the playground and no wait for the train ride. The gift shop is huge! The animals are awesome and the animal staff is very informative. Check out the turtle picture...that is a very happy turtle! What a great find, a happy face formed in a turtles shell.
I love this place. They always have the best freshest citrus in town. Today we just stopped in for one of their awesome orange ice cream cones and ended up having lunch at the little cafe. It was excellent alot better than alot of places around town. Stop in, tour the garden, have a little lunch, dont forget the ice cream and maybe even send a nice basket of fruit back home to your loved ones.
We love the Cuban sandwich and the orange vanilla ice cream is great. Pleasant environment. The Deli staff ( Shelby,Anita& Judy) are great. Kent always checks to see if we need anything. The store is filled with fun things to buy. This is a regular lunch stop. M&R
Sweet, kitchy little store, deli, and ice cream shop with plenty of local flavor. Very family friendly. Dont miss the orange ice cream made with Mixon juice! The tour was well worth the price of admission just for the exotic animal rescues. The kids all got to hold a young gator and pet a Burmese python as well as a tortoise. Great guide and animal handler.Oh, and take time to feed the koi. Dollar for dollar probably the best entertainment value weve had this vacation!
We used to love Mixons, until I placed an order for a gift basket of oranges from them. Awful service. Slow mailing. Ordered on the 16th of March and it is just now, hopefully, being delivered today (March 26) . I warn everyone to NOT ORDER from them.
Great place to buy FRESH citrus! They have a cute gift shop and deli also. They offer tours daily of the orchard and their operation.
What a wonderful experience! We stopped by after reading reviews “just for a few minutes” and ended up staying for two hours! The people working were so welcoming, kind, and helpful. We took the tram ride and really enjoyed seeing and learning about the animals. Finally, we returned and had the best ice cream! Definitely a place to stop and see!!!
What a beautiful place for a wedding
Really cool place! Giant indoor area with several different sections of the location - restaurant, retail, smoothie/juice bar, etc. check it out
Excellent !...Purchased a birthday gift for a friend in Florida from this place and she absolutely loved everything. She said the jelly and marmalade were so very fresh. she can’t wait to dig into her fruit box and was delighted over the alligator candy. She stated these were the first alligator she saw up close since being in Florida. She was unaware of the farm. They have the wildlife rehabilitation there on the property along with a cafe and gift shop. I also saw a very fun play area set up for the kids.Check out their website and videos.Highly recommend.
First time at Mixon Fruit Farm this past Saturday but I can assure it won’t be our last!! This place is awesome!! The staff went way out of their way to be friendly and generous and accommodating.. Haven’t experienced that kind of hospitality in I don’t know how long! Treated us like we were family!! Great place for little ones and old alike.. something for everyone!! We were a group of 11 people 4 of which were children.. two senior seniors, three barely seniors and a two in their 20s and 30s And all of us enjoyed our time at mixon fruit farm!! Thank you Mixon fruit farm for a great afternoon!!
We would like to go back again during the picking season.
This place is fabulous!
Everything is reasonable priced and it was a fun and informative experience for the whole family
We love this place. Cant wait to go back and see the animals next time. Such warm and inviting atmosphere! Delicious ice cream and a wonderful staff!!!
Went late in day. Will be back for full experience. It was a blast
They were absolutely awesome, the lady that wrote my order was so helpful and kind, I will always use them in the future and send anyone that needs fruit to Mixon 🚜
This place is wonderful!! So much good stuff to see and eat!! Friendliest staff around. I can not say enough good things about Mixon Fruit Farms!!
Fun stuff to look at. The orange ice cream is great. They carry local wines. I got a few azs gifts for as raffle
Havent been there since I was a kid, it was so great to see all my favorites still there. The orange ice cream is the best and the selection of orange products and souvenirs are great. Worth the trip for tourists and locals alike
Every time I come home for a visit I make at least one stop at Mixons for an orange-vanilla twist ice cream cone and a gallon of fresh orange juice.
One of my favorite places in Bradenton. The best ice cream in town. The owners and family are amazing down to earth people. Awesome homemade donuts, wine, ice cream, honey, fruit and so many more things to choose from. Definetely a family place and even have a digital pin it screen to pin your location.
Family fun! Surprisingly even more fun than wed expected! An informative tram through the groves, and an educational stop at the wildlife refuge. Great market and OMG the orange ice cream!!! Surprisingly delicious!
Great oranges and grapefruits. Friendly staff.
Very friendly staff and good tour too. Nice animal rescue guide as well with some interesting animals to show off. Juice and ice cream is great.
Friendly staff and wonderful orange and vanilla swirl icecream cone
We had a great time on a chilly misty day. We came as a group of 7 adults and 2 two year olds. The free orange juice samples were delicious and we took the tram tour which is primarily a wildlife animal tour. The kids (and adults) LOVED it. Damon is an amazing guide/educator, he taught us a ton and made it fun for everyone. He is a wildlife first responder meaning he finds and takes in discarded exotic animals from the wild, wow. He knows the animals well and they are well taken care of. We got to hold a small alligator (Amy) and pet a python and tortoise as well as meet and greet a blond raccoon and other cool birds. We rated for the ice cream (super delicious) and had a sandwich at the cafe, similar to subway (known for their Cubans)
Great tour with Kayla! Thank you. Informative!
So much fun!
Cute family owned business. We enjoy all their juices and everytime I stop in I grab one of their orange and vanilla swirl ice cream cones in the back of the store. Cool place to visit, they also have orange grove tours that are family friendly. Check for times on the tours. Cant wait to visit again soon. 😀
I have been going to Mixons since I was a little! Such a great place to visit every time I am in the area! Friendly staff, great products and just an overall great atmosphere 🤩
Stop in weekly for OJ and ice cream! It’s the best orange twist I’ve ever eaten! Finally took a Tram ride with Kayhla and Damon what an awesome experience. Loved Amy and the entire crew!! Such an informative hour it was, totally loved it and hope and pray your Orchard recovers.
We cant say enough good things about place. Excellent customer service as soon as we walked in. Kent was personable and so friendly. Tram tour guide was knowledgeable and the wildlife director, Damen, was incredible. Our group of adults and children learned so much information. And free ice cream with the tram purchase. Definitely recommend and will come again!
Went here specifically for the water slide, but the sprayer that makes the slide wet was not spraying on the slide and needed adjusted. The rude man working in the play area said Im not climbing up there to fix it and walked away. So he left the water spraying on the stairs instead of the slide, wasting water. The badminton rackets are all bent. Otherwise, it is ok, but I could go to a free park and get the same without paying the $3 per kid. Totally disappointed.
Good time at the farm. Wildlife addition was nice being able to hold gator.
