The manager Jason is great. And has always been good at explaining issues with our vehicles. But some of the staff….. still stand by the old mechanic tricks I know tuffy is not known for. I took my mother in laws car in for a simple oil change. I explained that on my vehicles we like full synthetic oil and understand the price. So as a man I got a everything looks great… and on my mother in laws car( who happened to have new tires within a couple months. They put a oil blend in instead of full synthetic when the prior change was synthetic. Tried to get her to do a few services and recommended she get new tires that day. The one time I was not the one who walked in at pickup. Because she is a woman.

Jason the manager runs an honest business. Ive dealt with him on multiple occasions and hes easy to get a hold with, communicates promptly, and from my experience, takes the right approach to diagnose and repair issues without adding unnecessary costly steps.

I often call Tuffy spur the moment and they are always so helpful. I knew I had a nail in my tire and even though I had just been at Honda I called them to repair my tire knowing I would get personal service. Sure enough they gave me an appointment one hour later They took my car in immediately and no must no fuss my tire was fixed while I waited. I had called them the day before with a mechanical issue and they offered to take my car right in but I decided that was a Honda issue. They are usually much cheaper than the dealership and always stand behind their work. They are always kind and treat each customer like you are their only customer. A special thanks to Jason who has always been so helpful to me. Give them a try….you wont be disappointed.

Thanks for taking the time to squeeze my car in for repair service on my radiator and thermostat that was done incorrectly at another business. The other place didnt mind sending me down the road to just overheat on the side of the road, you took the time to find the problem and fix it correctly. Our car broke down on the way to the interstate to leave town to return home after a few weeks in Florida. A full car with a child a dog 2 parents and 3 bikes on the back during a pandemic felt too much to bear. AAA towed our car to the nearest place however they refused to let us even leave the car there since it was 4:30 on Friday and they would t reopen until Monday.Called a couple of local friends for advice and they both independently recommended Tuffy with much praise. They were open on Saturday too. We made arrangements for the night and I had AAA get the car there before they opened. Upon opening they were professional and courteous but did wan me they had a full day of appointments but they would try to make sure they could at least diagnose it. I appreciated their candor and really did not have high hopes. Within 2 hours they called with a solid diagnosis with an estimate. I felt it was reasonable for the job and they confirmed they could do it the same day. Upon starting the work, they realized one of the parts was not needed and called to confirm a decent price reduction. The car was ready by 3pm allowing us to get on the road only 24 hours after our breakdown.I cannot recommend them highly enough

I had an oil change performed at a competitors on Monday, and yesterday while driving to work, my car broke down. AAA towed the car to Tuffy, and I received a call shortly after it arrived that my vehicle was fixed, and the problem had to do with something not be reattached at the competing location. I interacted with a few different individuals at Tuffy, and they all were extremely pleasant, friendly, and trustworthy. I had never been to Tuffy prior to yesterday, but due to their courteous staff and honest workers, they have just earned them a new customer once I need auto service again. I truly appreciate your kindness after a stressful morning yesterday!

Had a 12:30 appointment to have just my rear pads replaced. The guy working the front desk calls me while I’m in the waiting room to try and convince me my rotors need to be replaced at around 2pm. When I declined he then said okay, we’ll get to work on it now. Are you kidding me? I had a 12:30 appointment and here I am 2.5 hrs later, still waiting for a pair of rear pads to be replaced. What’s the point of them offering appointments? I’ve seen multiple people come and leave since I’ve been here. Granted, most were for tires. However, I know for a fact it doesn’t take that long to change the pads on that car. I do them myself normally. It just so happens I couldn’t this time, and this is what I get for choosing someone other than myself to work on the brakes.I’m not writing this review to deter anyone. This is just based solely on my experience.

We had a 2nd opinion diagnosis done on our Shocks & Struts, after being told at another national chain we have frequented for nearly 10 years stated it had to be done, or our new tire warranty would not be validated. Jason Warren, Service Manager @Tuffy took us through the evaluation process, & stated our shocks & struts were not in need of replacement after testing & driving to determine condition. We were treated with respect, & given full, easy-to-understand explanations.

Great family owned and operated auto service center. Always have excellent service. All of the employees are very knowledgeable, professional, courteous, efficient and honest. They always offer solutions to repair a problem, answer any questions in detail and let the customer make the repair decision. Never do they try to oversell you on their products or services. Their vehicle inspections are very thorough. Prices are very reasonable and there are monthly promotions and coupons. The facility is always very neat and clean. Ive been going to Tuffy for almost 25 years and have seen many of the same auto techs throughout those years. I wouldnt go anywhere else for repair issues or routine maintenance.

I drove in to Tuffy’s without an appointment, with a flat tire, and riding on my donut. Tony was able to fix my tire and have it back on my car in less than 30 minutes. Amazing service!

I was towed in after breaking down on I-75 and being referred by another shop that was too busy.The owner got me right in, and the technician quickly diagnosed the issue. Part was ordered, and vehicle was repaired and back on the road in about an hour and a half from arrival.Total time off-road was about 3 hours. I was treated fairly and charged reasonably. When I arrived for my appointment at 9am the vehicle was immediately taken in for service while I waited for the vehicle. Work performed was tire rotate and balance and coolant system flush and fill. Total time 1.5 hours. The mechanic test drove the vehicle after working on it. This business also follows Covid protocols. These guys are great! Thanks again!

I had my daughters car in for brake service and used their coupon which saved about $75.00. The brakes are now performing well, and the car is safe to drive. When we picked up the car at closing time, my daughter started to drive the 11-year old car & the engine started to misfire. So the mechanic fixed the problem, even though they were closed after 6:00 PM, and did not charge us!! Tuffys went above and beyond to help us out in a time of need! I appreciate what they did so my daughter was able to drive back to Tampa safely. They are honest and I trust them with all three of my cars. I have had excellent service for many years and I highly recommend them to my family and friends.

I cannot more highly recommend this auto center for your mechanical needs! I have had consistently positive experiences these past two years where I, a woman in her 60s, am treated courteously and with honesty and high quality service. Todays experience was no exception.I had Tuffy check my vehicle (a 2012 model) 3 1/2 months ago for a poorly running a/c. They checked the system and advised that there were no leaks and that I just needed a coolant charge. The a/c ran beautifully the past several months. Suddenly, my vehicle again started not adequately cooling. I called Tuffy and spoke with Derrick, its owner. He was kind and respectful. We arranged for my service in a couple of days.I left my vehicle on the service date and later on that day I was told that the mechanic had found a small leak in a valve in the a/c system. I was told they were in the process of recharging the system and that my vehicle would be ready within the hour. I then later called back and requested that the oil be changed as well, since I knew it was due to be changed in 2 months and just thought that it would make it easier to have it done while my vehicle already was there. Minutes later the mechanic called me to advise that I still had 4k miles left before the next oil change was recommended and that he thought I should wait at least until the August recommended date to have the change done. REALLY? WHO DOES THAT IN TODAYS WORLD? I decided against the oil change at this time and, when I picked up my car there was NO CHARGE for the a/c service!! Thank you, thank you, thank you! Such a gift to know you have an honest and fair service station.

My husband and I have gone to this Tuffy auto repair long before they moved to this new location! Darren the manager is honest and hard working! They get a few slacker employees but the solid staff has built a good team of people. They are not the cheapest around but their return time is same/next day and they warranty their work & parts; just check your receipt. They have never went against a warranty if something goes bad or put on wrong in both our vehicles! It is hard to find a reliable and trustworthy shop to fix anything and stand behind it for so many years! Our son has just introduced a third vehicle into the family network of vehicle maintenance at Tuffy!

I was recommended to Tuffy from a friend who had a better experience. I spoke to GM, Darrin when I first arrived. I was looking for an oil change, tires, and wanted them to investigate a faint clunk on the drivers front area of my 2014 Nissan Sentra with 46k miles. I let Darrin know that I was looking for a good value tire, that would provide a quiet ride. Darrin reviewed his inventory, and recommended the General Tire G-Max AS-05, for 125 a piece. Hes the expert, and I was recommended by a friend, so I agreed to this work.I received a call a couple days later from Service Advisor Jason advising that the vehicle was ready for pick-up.I picked up my vehicle, and paid them. I stopped at Publix on the way home and noticed that the tires were not changed. I called and spoke to a Service Advisor ( I didnt get her name ), and she confirmed the mix up. They couldnt offer to pick up my vehicle from my home, but said I could bring it back in at my convenience.I was able to drop it off the following weekend, and they swapped out the tires.I picked up the vehicle yesterday evening. The good value, quiet tires that Darrin the General Manager recommended, are less than ideal. The tires are noisy, and harsh on the road. These are nowhere near what I wanted, or requested. Also remember that I asked for value, and I was charged 125 per tire plus fees. Ive since looked online and these tires can be found for 100.99 at WalMart and Tire Rack, for the exact same spec.Regarding the noise up on the drivers side front that I had them investigate: Service Advisor Jason said that the front driver strut was faulty. This would cost an additional thousand or more since they had to replace the struts on both the front driver and passenger due to ride height differences, etc. I declined this service for now. Ill note that after further research of this, Im not sure that there would have been ride height differences, or any other issue that Jason noted. If only the strut is replaced, the upper mount and spring, which control ride height, would be the same. Based on the rest of my experience, its reasonable to think that they were only saying this to illicit more work for themselves, and more money out of my pocket.The entire experience has been very disappointing, and I cant help feeling that I was taken advantage of, on top of the poor service I received.Skip this shop. Even if you cant find a more honest shop, you can at least get better service.Edit: Although they commented that theyd reach out shortly, they never did. Seems that many people have had good luck with this shop, but unfortunately, I didnt. Given that my review received 100+ likes, Id guess others are in the same boat as me

I got Tuffys recommendation from Nextdoor and tried this auto service. I went in for general maintenance, but was recommended several other services. I was skeptical, but I knew my car was not running good (2003 Mercury Sable). So I gave permission to do the work. WELL! That was a good decision. My car is running great. It old girl has got her groove back and was able to get up with Volvos, BMWs, Lincolns, etc., on the drive to and from the east coast of Florida this past weekend. I also noticed an increase in mileage to the tune of about 5 more miles per gallon, and for a 12 gallon tank that is an additional 60 miles - another WOHOO! So yes I give this auto service 5 stars and they are my new go to auto repair. Also the staff is extremely nice - drove me home so I would not have to sit there for several hours while my car was being worked on, and then picked my up. Customer service is hard to find these days - but this Tuffys has it right.

My job involves traveling in city and from county to county. i was so heartbroken when i discovered a nail and one of my tires in another tire low on air. This place was recommended by some colleagues and I came here to get it taken care of. The people were friendly and courteous. I even heard one of the guys tell a customer that he didnt want her to pay unnecessarily for something she didnt need. That is integrity. I definitely recommend this place. Oh! I was able to get two new tires and get back on the road on the same day.

I got gas at the race track next door and when I went to start up my car it wouldn’t. I walked over to tuffy to see if I could get a new battery, and unfortunately they were locking up their shop, but they came over and got my car going for me anyways. I really appreciated it, especially since it was on a holiday.I know I’ll be going there next time I need something for my car :)

Well new I needed brakes on the front of my car so they also said I needed back brakes too well if the front ones are bad then a 50% that the back ones could be bad oh well kinda need them.I will return to this business again.

Andy impressed me with his extreme knowledge of cars, my Mercedes E550 its A+B services, and could discuss even synthetic motor oils with me. Our all (3) cars will be in their care forever.Highly recommended for their honesty, prompt service, and exceptionally clean rest room!! Reasonable prices, and NO *shop-supplies* skimming. Quickly diagnosed and repaired a problem with my AC after a four month ordeal in which two trusted mechanics in my home states of MD and GA could only add freon. AC runs like new. Very grateful. Recommend this shop wholeheartedly.

Honest people run this shop! They did a brake check on our car after another business claimed we needed new rear brakes. The Tuffy technician measured the brake wear and drove the car, telling us that the measurement indicated the brakes were good for up to 2 years! They did not charge us and kept our car inside the facility overnight for us to pick up the next day. The office and waiting area looked clean and I truly got the impression that they were in this for the long haul. Tuffy on SR70 will be my go to shop for service as long as they act in this manner.

We took my sons car in to have the brakes done as they were squealing a bit.Rather than just put brakes on the car, they took it for a drive and then did an inspection and told us we did NOT need new brakes yet!This saved us significant money and appreciate the honesty!

Brought my KIA Sorento in for an oil change and to get my brakes checked out, as they were making a squeaking sound. They were super friendly, professional, and HONEST. I figured I was going to be spending a ton for new brakes, but they assured me, my brakes were fine. They Let me know my drivers side (which is where I heard the squeaking sound) had a bit more wear than the others but overall, they were fine. They could’ve very easily said, “yep you need new brakes!” And I would’ve never known the difference, I know plenty of other places that WOULD have said I needed new brakes. I feel like Tuffy’s is a Bradenton staple, as it should be. Honest, hardworking people that are doing residents of the area a GREAT service!

There are not enough words to recommend Tuffys highly enough.I have been a customer there since 2012 and whether I go there for an oil change/ tire rotate....or a large repair job...I am always taken very promptly...and never leave this establishment...with anything but the feeling that I’ve been treated very fairly and honestly..Whether...I make an appt. ahead of time..., the day before, or an emergency...I’m always taken very promptly. Darren and his staff are very honest in their appraisal and analysis of the problem...they present you with all options...and give you an exact price immediately.The waiting area is very very clean...with coffee, tea ....bottled water...and other amenities...such as WiFi...so the wait time is very comfortable...The access and exit from State Rd. 70 is very easy also...Give them a try...you won’t be sorry...

I stopped by yesterday to inquire about an oil change and a tire rotation. The tag from my last one was set for me to get one after 3000 miles, plus my service light was already coming on. It didnt totally make since I typically get synthetic oil for my car. Jason, the service manager, assured me that my car could go much longer than that. He had one of his service techs also check my tires (which turns out didnt need to be rotated) and reset my service light switch free of charge! So refreshing to deal with people who arent trying to sell you something you really dont need. It may be a few months before I actually need the service, but I will definitely be back to this location to get it! In the meantime, I plan to send my friends there as well. Honesty above profit...a rare find!

I went in for an oil change and also requested a basic inspection... essentially giving the go-ahead to do whatever needed to be done, were they to find anything, without needing to consult me. Despite effectively having a blank check written out to them, they performed *only* the work that was absolutely necessary. That speaks volumes about the integrity of the folks at Tuffy, and the work they did was excellent. Highly recommended.

Squeezed me in to check on nail in tire and to fix engine guard under vehicle. They all are so nice and after a short stay, Dave came to me and said I was ready to go no charge. I asked about tire patch and guard fix and said nail was stuck but did not puncture and guard just needed some screws to hold in place. Made me realize why I go there and tell my friends the same. One of the few places I trust. Thank you Tuffy and Dave!

I finally found my go to mechanic service center! Saw their ad in the Hometown News community magazine, so thought Id give them a try, because I was tired of being ripped off by the Honda dealer in Venice.I called early Saturday morning for a brake job, and they were able to take the car in same day! By noon, all four rotors and pads were done at a very reasonable price, probably half what the dealer would have charged me.Its not easy to find a trust worthy, fair-priced auto service center here in Bradenton, but I will be bringing my car here in the future....next thing to work on is my cars A/C....ugh!!

Tuffy on SR 70 the best in town. They are super friendly, honest and always explain exactly what is going on with my car in lemans terms so I understand completely. I have never once felt ripped off or taken advantage of and that is saying a lot as a female. They always do great work and provide exceptional service. I go there for routine maintenance (like oil changes) as well as some major problems I have had driving an older vehicle with a lot of miles. Everything is reasonably priced (since I always do my research). The place itself is very inviting, super clean and comfortable so if I have to wait I feel like I am in a luxury dealership. Even clean bathrooms!! I have only great things to say about Tuffy and recommend it to all my friends, family & coworkers.
