Save yourself, go elsewhere. The owner is insane..one video of this over would go viral…and left me feeling crazy to even have bothered her, I love to have a reliable seamstress to alter my clothes as I buy them but I would go ANYWHERE ELSE BUT HERE. A simple hem from here was unprofessional (crooked and uneven) and overpriced. I was polite when I brought it up, expecting nothing but acknowledgement but instead was accosted and told “it was my fault” they don’t fit….WTFFF I’d go to Off the Cuff for half the price and 100% more customer service. Never settle for a business that is “too busy” EVER. I’d pay and wait if it was worth it but to wait months to get work back I could have done myself and paid full price was crazy…..was quoted one month…TOOOK 3…

I have taken several pairs of pants to Persnickety. Every time they come back more ill fitting than before. I wouldnt recommend trusting them with nice pieces of clothing. The owner is unprofessional and rude. Personally the only reason they are so booked up is the lack of tailors in Bozeman.

I brought my wedding dress here for minor alterations including adding a bustle and removing added on flowers. The flower removal was perfect, however the bustle broke halfway through the reception (buttons popped off, must not have been reinforced). Also, when I picked up my dress, two buttons were missing from the top of the back of the dress that were there when it was dropped off. When I called, Jaelyn did provide me extra buttons but Anne blamed me for not once overing the dress before I left the shop and was very unapologetic. I had expected the dress would be in the same condition or better when picking up, but I know better now. All in all, It wasnt the worst experience in the world but it was NOT stress free, and i had to sew buttons back onto my dress.

Anne and Cookie specifically worked incredibly hard to provide suits for myself and my 8 groomsmen for our wedding this summer (2020). Despite the pandemic and all but one of my eight groomsmen being from out of state, Anne found a way gather measurements in advance and then do alterations the day before and even day of the wedding. Anne’s commitment and persistence with everything partnered with the pure quality of her work did nothing but affirm me in our decision to go with Persnickety Formalwear. We rented all nine suits. The price was reasonable and fair, and returning the suits was seamless for myself and each of my groomsmen. I appreciated that. I’m so thankful for Anne and her team. She’s the best in Bozeman.

The older lady was assertive, loud, body, and very presumptuous. Instead of honoring the request made comments about how “I’m sure you couldn’t afford it.” “I hate how thin you are. It’s just disgusting.” She was very loud about the fact they didn’t have the time for this. It was a dress needed for a wedding. Never was there an argument with her on the value of her time, however she presumed this wasn’t worth it. Next time, another means will be found and no recommendations will ever be made in their direction. She made for a very uncomfortable experience.

I called to see about fitting and renting and wasn’t given much time to talk before they basically hung up on before I could get any more questions out. I haven’t even shopped here and so far their customer service isn’t the best. Coming from someone who’s never worn a tux it would’ve been nice to have a more easing experience.

They do it all! The best seamstresses and the most knowledgeable men’s dressers.

I had a few items of clothing altered at Persnickety, and they did beautiful work! They altered the waistband of some vintage Wranglers and the new seam is barely visible. The seamstress I worked with was extremely professional and knowledgeable. She helped me make decisions about fit and rushed an item I wanted to have finished sooner than the others. And then they delivered the items to my house when they were done. Great service.

I have taken my sons here for their formals and their proms since 2016. The owner, Ann, and her staff are beyond accommodating! They listen to your wants (take it in here, take it out there) and make sure you feel like the Belle or Beau of the ball!! I have at least 6 more years of high school and wouldnt think to go anywhere else!

I loved coming in here! I brought my kids with me, one of the gals jumped at the opportunity to read them stories and occupy them, while i got a little peace of shopping for my wedding needs. Definately should of stopped in here first to dress shop!

I needed a budget wedding dress for my dauter earlier this year because I dont have a lot of money. The girls here were so understanding and helped me find the perfect dress for her! She looked so beautiful in it!

We will continue ordering tux rentals from them. They are knowledgeable and easy to work with.

Dropped clothes of and requested 2 day service because I was leaving town. I was told at drop off no problem come after 4 and it will be ready guess what... it wasn’t very unreliable service and will not be using them again. Now I have to go without suits what a crappy place with terrible customer service!!

I love Persnickety Formalwear! Anne, who has been a Bozeman resident since the early 80s and her staff treat every customer like family. Her attention to detail and genuine desire to ensure every customer looks their best is commendable!

I needed a jumpsuit hemmed and taken in within two weeks for an event. Even though it was made of very difficult, stretchy fabric that had to be sewn by hand, they had it done right on time and it looks perfect! I wouldnt go anywhere else for alterations.

The owner is incredibly unprofessional. If you want to go somewhere where they make you feel awful about yourself and youre always wrong this is the place. Go anywhere else but here!

I was in Bozeman for a wedding, but another place in town had confused my measurements (I wont mention them, due to not knowing where the communication breakdown happened). They had nothing else in my size, which happens to be big and tall. They recommended I go check Macys. Macys (nor other retailers) had anything similar to the shirt I needed. A man at JCPenney recommended I call this lady, as she has always come through for them before. My fiance talked to her on the phone and said she was a hoot. We stopped over, she took my correct measurements, and had the exact shirt, even the same designer as the other place. Being in a bind, she still charged me less than the first place! She asked about the hardware that came with the rented tie from the first place, and made sure I wasnt missing anything else. She even got me a matching tie clip since it was windy that day. She was training in a new girl, so that could possibly resolve what others had said about the service. I can see how some may think shes a bit brash, but I really dont think us Midwesterners understand how an actual rental shop would be run if it was anywhere else. She was an East coast transplant, in the middle of Montana, and treated us North Dakota nice. I really couldnt have asked for anything better.

Disappointed with the unprofessional atmosphere and difficult staff. At the final fitting, the bride I was with wanted to try on the dress one last time to make sure the hem had been done correctly. She had to insist on this was treated as if this was a rediculous request. It was a very unpleasant experience. I would not come back here.

Terrible experience. I went in to look at prom dresses and wasnt helped at all. When I found a few dresses I liked (by myself), I asked for a dressing room and was greeting by a rude woman who then grabbed the dresses out of my hand I told me I couldnt try them on. It was some of THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!!! I wouldnt recommed this store to anyone.

I was in Persnickety Formal wear, 2622 W Main St, Bozeman, MT 59718 in April looking for a dress for my wedding coming up in the fall. The shop was bustling with young girls and their moms excited about prom. My fiance and I came in with our little guy and wanted to take a look around. I went to the front desk and waited for the woman to be free to speak with. When she finally gave us a moment of attention, she put her hand on the counter and squawked what do you need?! I was taken aback and gave her the benefit of the doubt since she was so busy. I answered with a smile that we are looking for my wedding dress. She asked are you the bride? I said yes (I already told her this). She asked do you have an appointment? I said no were here-- and she then interrupted me at that point, and ask me another question. So where are you coming from? I said we are here from Helena, in town for just the day and you were open so we wanted to stop in.She said, and looked around with the huff, well as you can see, Im very busy with prom girls. They all had appointments and were here first, so i really dont have time for walk ins. I said oh I see. Well I guess - she interrupted me again. She asked me have you been other places? i said yes and then began again, but she interrupted again to ask well, where else have you been? I said we had been to a couple of other shops and her shop was open today so she was on our list to come and see what she had. She tried again and asked me again where else we had been I said we had an appointment in the morning with a place that was closed and she tried again and again to find out where that was. I told her the name of the other shop and they were closed that day but had made an exception and an appointment for me since we were coming from out of town. She sarcastically said that was very nice of them. And I told her yes of course it was.Before I could tell her we were just going to take our leave she asked again where else we have been and I told her begrudgingly the other shops we had visited. She asked if we had been to one last shot by name, and I said they were next on our list. They were very kind to get me in having call to find out their business hours just moments earlier. She looked at the clock and said well theres just no way at all that I can help you in the next 20 minutes. She was talking down to me as though I were stupid and just didnt understand that she didnt have time, even though she just spent the last 10 minutes telling me how she didnt have time, and grilling me about my personal business. In contrast, all she would have needed to do was be kind and let us know we can browse, but her full attention was not readily available.When I told her okay thats fine never mind I will just take off, she finally leaned over the counter and said well wait you can take a look at all of these gowns there Alfred Angelo. If you find something you like maybe we can pull it down and you can try it on Im sorry I just dont have time for you. I said okay thank you, and me and my family turned around and walked out of the store. I know it doesnt maybe seem like much in writing, but everything is in the body language and we were treated poorly as though we didnt have money to spend in her store and as though we werent important enough to give any kind of respect to.I have been in customer service and sales since I was 14 years old and I have never ever been treated so poorly by a customer service agent of any kind. I will never shop there again and I will never recommend Persnickety formal wear it to anyone I know. In contrast, we had a wonderful experience at After 5 and Weddings, Eskay Bridal, Lindas Bridal Images, and finally ended up at another Alfred Angelo store in Great Falls named Brides Shop, where I was treated like a customer and where I finally spent $1,800 for all my wedding needs. Thank you to all you others who were so kind and helpful in our searches.

I called to inquire about this shop. The lady on the phone was short and a little rude. I was told they might be out of my size (4) by next week. Then, when I asked if something could be order in, was told no... NOT impressed.
