Delicious coffee and baked goods. Good selection of single origin coffees. Very pleasant and relaxed environment. The staff is extraordinarily nice and helpful.
The staff there went above and beyond on my first visit. Coffee was really good and the little pastries were out of this world!
Lovely coffee shop. The staff were helpful and polite. He recommended a Miele (cinnamon and honey latte) and it was absolutely wonderful. Their baked goods are delicious. Cannot recommend this place enough for anyone.
Ive had better lattes (I prefer mine with lots of whipped cream!); but I have to say that their key lime scones are wonderful!
Flatlands is a modern, laid back, welcoming coffee shop in downtown Bowling Green, Ohio. Staff are very friendly and helpful, the environment is quiet yet just enough noise, and the coffee is delicious. Their menu is basic in the sense that you get quality coffee with a few options to enhance it. This however, gives them the opportunity to perfect their signature drinks. Overall, this is just the right vibe and options that one could ask for. The only complaint would be the bare seating without cushions as your bottom starts to hurt after sitting in it for a while.
Nay and Rose were really nice and even gave me samples! Also a really pretty place and was very clean.
The house coffee was good as was the service. The shop offers a range of coffee and espresso beverages on a very simplistic menu. This shop offers 10-15 or so tables to enjoy your coffee. There were a few people with laptops open. The esthetics are modern with clean lines for a very open feel. The music playing today was a modern contemporary and was just noticable - not overly loud.
Great coffee and vibe. Hardworking staff!
I got invited after an interview with BGSU by some grad comp students. Really cool place; I dont think Ive ever met friendlier people than in Ohio. The raspberry scone was delicious and I hope they continue selling cupcakes. The chai latte was huge! If I end up at CMA for my grad studies this will certainly become a regular stop.
One of my absolute favorites!! This place transports you to somewhere so much more chic than this little country town. Amazing coffee. Even better customer service. Also Ben, the owner, is the sweetest and super knowledgeable. Please talk to him if you have a minute. Great crowd. Great ambiance. Great everything!!
I believe that Flatlands deserves all 5 stars because of their excellent staff, quality of food and drinks, and also the atmosphere. I bought my first equipment for pour over coffee here and they offered to demonstrate how to use and and gave me helpful suggestions for great at home coffee. Would highly recommend this place. Even if you dont like coffee, go there to meet the staff. The owner is also very sweet!
Obviously their coffee is fantastic, but I have been looking everywhere for gluten free donuts that are actually good for years now, and I cannot hype these up enough. And the staff is so so nice
This was a great coffee shop find in a small town. The staff was friendly. They had oat milk as a milk substitution. There were also gf and vegan pastry options. I cant comment if this is a green/ clean energy establishment. #ditchthestraw
As a Cincinnati native - I wish we had a Flatlands Coffee down here in Cincinnati, Ohio. Their food, coffee, ambiance and service were outstanding! I ordered their Ice Lavender Latte with OAT milk and it was by far THE best latte I ever had. I also ordered a Matcha Latte and that also was 👌👌👌. Oh! And not to forget - I also tried their lemon filled donuts/beignets and it was fantastic! I highly recommend them!
Flatlands is the best coffee shop I have ever been to! I live in Bowling Green and I go there at least a few times a week. All of the staff are incredibly sweet and Ben, the owner, is the nicest guy I have ever met. It is so obvious how passionate they are about coffee and people! They have the best matcha latte (and tea lattes) I have ever had and their scones and other pastries are delicious! It is a perfect environment for me to get work done and the natural light throughout the place creates a great atmosphere. I love this place.
Very tasty baked goods and I really liked their coffee. I live in rossford and it was definitely worth the 20 min drive.
Flatlands is my first visit for local coffee in BG and it was delicious!
Possibly the best coffee Ive had in my life. A regular coffee had blueberry and chocolate undertones... yum.... cute interior. And, the staff are ABSOLUTELY the nicest and friendliest baristas Ive ever met! Please stop in; this place is excellent. The bathrooms are even really nice...
Great atmosphere and drinks!
Amazing coffee and staff! They have incredible original roasts for great prices. The owner and all the staff are super friendly, inviting and very knowledgeable. One of my favorite coffee shops of all time! Would highly recommend to anyone and everyone.
LOVE the interior design of this place. So cute!Definitely one of the cutest coffee shops ever though. Great atmosphere and always packed to the brim.
No exaggeration, this place has the best coffee I’ve ever had. Not to mention, their baked goods are so good too. Flatlands is definitely an 11/10!
Friendly and helpful service. Coffee is top notch. I always stop by for their mocha when Im passing through!
Flatlands Coffee is a wonderful place to get your coffee. They have a great selection and take the time to make sure everything served is of the highest quality. The staff is always super friendly and ready to welcome you with a warm smile. They have done a wonderful job of making the appropriate changes necessary to keep people safe and healthy during this time of the Covid-19 crisis. I would highly recommend Flatlands to anyone who is looking to drink an excellent coffee!
Great pour-overs
Excellent drinks, friendly staff, and wonderful atmosphere.
Great coffee and great atmosphere! Pastries are homemade and great also (had a scone and savory roll). We visited flatlands when they originally opened and we werent as impressed. This place has come a long way since then! IMO - this is the best coffee shop in BG and one of the tops in the Toledo area. Atmosphere is nice. Music level is good. Baristas are awesome! Nice downtown location. Nice seating options. We will definitely be coming back! Glad we decided to give them another try this holiday! Miel latte and Carmel Dulce were the Lattes my wife and I had. We loved each of them! If you are looking for a coffee shop in BG with great coffee and a knowledgeable and friendly staff this is the place I would visit!
Employees who care about coffee and take the time to do it right. Great atmosphere and havent had to deal with any kind of long wait.
Flatlands is one of my favorite places in Bowling Green. The atmosphere is always warm and inviting with the modern decor and records playing. The coffees and teas are ethically sourced which is a plus and the pastries are delicious. The staff if super friendly. It’s a great place to study, read, or meet up with friends.
As a townie, I was apprehensive of a new coffee shop in downtown Bowling Green. Regardless, I have been coming to Flatlands since the day they opened. It was a bit of a rocky start; however, the coffee and experience has steadily improved since those early days. Today, Flatlands has flourished into what seems like a thriving business (at least when the students are in town.) My compliments to Ben on his tireless efforts of continuous improvement and attention to detail! I have been to coffeehouses all over the world, and Bens product is comparable to some of the better ones. The staff are helpful and hospitable, although the overall atmosphere is just a bit hollow and pretentious feeling. (Guys, please dont take offense!) I do appreciate the minimalist approach, though! This is the perfect place to take your customers for a coffee meeting or to meet out of town friends.
Great place to relax and get creative! Very friendly and joyful vibe in this place! The coffee was great too! If I lived on campus I would definitely have this as a go to spot to study and focus on the task at hand or to take someone on a date!
Visiting from out of town and I have been to every coffee shop in the area and this one is my favorite. Rose was so sweet and made some great coffee :) Ill be back for sure before I leave.
Amazing place for coffee. Great atmosphere, great staff, great tasting coffee. Would highly recommend. I love 30 minutes away from them but I will definitely be going back whenever I want to go to a coffee shop. Worth the drive.
Each time Im at Flatlands I have had a wonderful experience and a just as magical cup of coffee. Really good pastries too! Its a great atmosphere to meet, work, or anything in between. Every barista Ive met has been incredibly kind and is happy to talk about coffee. Theyre very hospitable and knowledgable. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Ben, on my last visit. He was so kind with each customer, answering questions about orders, giving tips on home brewing, and excitedly talking about coffee. Definitely check Flatlands out!
Always a great cup of coffee. Unique blends and a fun casual experience. And always greeted by staff who are excited to help you with a selection or get your brew. Great!
I haven’t even tasted the coffee yet (sitting waiting for it) and I know it’s gonna be good. I was greeted with enthusiasm and “our goal is too spoil you”. My kinda place. Local and European vibe with sparkling water served with espresso and tall glass bottles of water. (Update) I’ve drunk the coffee and it’s just as I expected.
They staff is always friendly and welcoming. Whenever I bring someone new there they always make them feel as though theyve been coming for years. The owner is there often even when he might not have to be to make sure everything is going well or to even help when it gets busy. Never had a bad experience (or cup of coffee) here. They are very dedicated to quality work.
Great third wave coffee in a place where its hard to find it. Excellent service at the shop, and they sold good and interesting beans. Im a fan of their pour over, and the chai was well spiced. The baked offerings were also good, but I think the coffee is the true focus of the establishment.
Best coffee
Just passing through and found this gem. Great atmosphere. Amazing coffee! Delicious scones. The owner was extremely personable and helpful. I wish this coffee house was in my town. Will always take time out of my travels through Bowling Green Ohio to visit this shop! Congratulations on a job well done with every detail in your business.
Very helpful service. Not sure what I wanted so I told him sweet, a little milk and strong. He whipped me up just what I needed . Super cute place and laid back. Will be back... Starbucks who lmao
Very cute& chic coffee shop! The employee that helped me today was very friendly& let me try a sample pour over that was fantastic! A great place to sit down & work or have a quick cup of joe with a friend. Great coffee!
Great coffees and GLUTEN-FREE selections of pastries! People are so friendly! Well worth the money.
I am never disappointed when I come into this warm welcoming environment. I have tried close to all the drinks on the menu and I enjoyed each and every one of them. The fresh pastries are amazing - big fan of the scones. All of the staff are very kind and helpful. Always a great place to go work on the laptop or just catch up with friends. I recommend this place to anyone. Best coffee shop in BG.
This place is truly amazing! The staff are knowledgeable and enthusiastic about every part of the coffee and tea-making process. They are eager to educate and answer questions, to share their experiences and passion. One doesnt find passion in every service position or every coffee shop anymore. This place, and the people who make it, falls under the category of a true experience. Such a positive one, at that! How kind, how unique, how passionate. The interior is stripped down to basics, so the customer can focus on their beverage creation and enjoyment. Though I did not partake of the baked goods, they were beautiful, intriguing, and large. I was informed the baked goods were made from scratch at the owners home and brought into the store. Even the coffee is ground in front of the customer before it is brewed fresh, in small batches, and served in a personal carafe on a wonderful carved wooden tray.I reiterate: what a wonderful experience!
Living in Chicago, we are spoiled to have lots of great coffee shops. Our visits to Flatlands Coffee ranked with the best for wonderful coffee, great, friendly, personal, and warm service and a lovely space. The coffee is carefully selected for flavor and smoothness and prepared to order. Pastries and sandwiches rounded out our lunch deliciously.
A really superior pour over, great advice as to the best of the choices available. Pastry fresh, a real cut above. Free parking out back, sweet patio. Worth navigating current road construction!
Very relaxed atmosphere and quiet place to go if you have homework to do or need to get work assignments done. The staff was very welcoming and friendly and each had a knowledgeable background about what is served there. The latte I ordered was amazing and would highly recommend.
Literally the most hospitable place you will ever walk in to! They are so kind and extremely willing to explain any of their flavors and processes to anyone. The environment is lovely and just so welcoming I want to spend all of my money just trying everything. This place by far deserves every single good review possible.
My first time here...got a great recommendation for a coffee from the girl working. It was delicious I will definitely be back
Hands down the best customer service experience around. The exceptional attention to detail and quality of all of their products is outstanding! One of my favorite places to visit in town. Fantastic work team!
You will not find a better cup of coffee for miles and miles. Extreme multi-roaster approach to supply means you will get to constantly bless yourself with new exciting coffees that you cannot get bored of. Their espresso beverages are top notch, consequential of the competition-level baristas youll find beyond the bar. I can say that if you prefer ultra-sweet beverages you will not find them here, but that is not what this shop is about. Given an open mindset, anyone can be converted from a white chocolate mocha junkie into a lover of the exquisite, simple cup.If they were to provide more vegan/gluten-free options in their home made pastries (another delicacy), as well as adding a few more substantial food options, it would eliminate the need for any other joints downtown.Grounds for Thought is great and a townie classic, sure, but the coffee and service just do not compare.Update: This isnt fast food coffee, and if youre in a HUGE hurry maybe just wait to try Flatlands another day. I can say, though, that its worth the wait. Also, they have a less multi-roaster-centric philosophy since the team has began roasting their own coffee, and the options available have diversified quite a bit. Flatlands is an experience in service and product.
I stopped in for the first time on Friday. Being a barista myself I am quite picky with my lattes. Flatlands was a great spot to experience. Delicious, velvety, smooth latte.
Roasts their own coffee. Has pour over. Very unique. Treats and pastries are amazing too
Simply one of the best coffeeshops Ive had the pleasure of visiting. Drop Flatlands in Brooklyn, Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco, London, Mexico City, etc - it would shine. Its been my pleasure to work with Flatlands to create world class customer experiences for last few years, and still Im amazed every time I enter the shop at how Ben and his staff work to create an incredible coffee experience for each and every guest!
Had a wonderful encounter with a business associate and friend when we met at Flatlands. The atmosphere is big city and the service down home friendly. Thank you for the experience. Much more than a coffee shop!
Delicious gluten free option!
Super nice staff, good coffee, nice atmosphere. The different seating options for groups up to 8 is excellent - couches, small tables, and a nice big table in the back. I think it’s a bit overpriced ($5.50 for a chai latte) but you are paying for the whole experience and not just a drink.
To expand the palate or the mind; step into this shop to fulfill both. The coffee is not the only thing on point. Excellent service and kind conversations make this place the perfect treat.
This place has such a good vibe. Its nice and open and good for working or just talking with someone. They have a great selection of beverages if black coffee isnt your thing. My favorite item on the menu is the Earl Grey latte. Any of their tea lattes are incredible and their staff is knowledgeable and super friendly! Highly recommend visiting. You wont want to go anywhere else.
Always impressed with this place! The staff know their coffee and are quick to make recommendations. Great atmosphere for a meeting or doing work. Best coffee in BG...hands down.
Great coffee and awesome place to study or work. They have outlets for laptops and couches and tables and high top tables. In the summer there is outdoor seating which is really nice. They also have little pastries, too.
The best latte Ive ever had. Amazing pour over coffee that rotates with new roasts from new roasters weekly. Carefully selected and crafted coffee. The donuts are so good, too!
Great staff. Amazing quality.
Friendly barista and a good spot to get a bit of work down. I was in town visiting and the la union pour over was really tasty.
I tried earl gray tea. The order was ready in about 8 minutes if not 10. Tea was kinda cold and tasted ok. It’s overpriced for the quality of tea and taste. Plus, the tea pot thing came with a small bowl to use as a tea cup which was funny and not a good idea. However, I appreciate the creativity 😅. Not recommended for tea.
Love the atmosphere! Ordered an iced chai latte which was delicious. Appears to be a great place for meetings with some larger tables in the back.
Ive been coming here for coffee ever since I was brought here by a friend. Since then, Ive been hooked. The atmosphere is awesome and very relaxed. The staff is super friendly and always remembers me, so it feels super welcoming. And, of course, the coffee is awesome! Its some of the best coffee Ive ever had. If youre looking for a good place to read a book, study, or just relax and enjoy good coffee, you have to come try this place out.
Very knowledgeable, great coffee (especially for someone like me who knows next to nothing about coffee). Cozy, bright environment. Im just passing through, but Id make this a regular stop if I lived here.
My wife and I supported this business in its early stages, but left Bowling Green before they opened. We finally had an opportunity to visit, and were amazed by the space! In a very small town feel town, Flatlands has a big city vibe to the decor. The service is exactly what youd expect from a small town though - happy to help and happy we were there. We received a free bakery item for being a first time customer, and both of our drinks were awesome. Well definitely be stopping back when were back in BG!
One of the best cafes in the country! Were always honored to have the opportunity to roast for this great gang of professionals. Cant wait for the day we get to enjoy a cup with the team.
Staff is very knowledgeable, best tasting coffee in town hands down. Great atmosphere for work or a friendly meet up.
Just amazing all around
Everyone was really nice and friendly, was able to explain the different drinks available and what makes each one special. Great environment for doing homework, meeting with friends or just a coffee. Great place, great people.
My husband and I have been visiting since they first opened. Their coffee is fantastic, the service is warm and pleasant, and the atmosphere is comfortable and inviting. They take great care and pride in their craft and that care is reflected in the operation as a whole
If you like great coffee, then Flatlands is the place for you. I would strongly suggest the pour over. I have been drinking coffee at Flatlands for 3 years. Always great coffee and great service.
Stopped in while in town with family. We visited Grounds for some whole beans and came across Flatlands on our walk. I was welcomed as soon as I came in, got to try a regular blend and even a new creation one of the baristas (Ben) is working on with cardamon. My only suggestion is better signage either on the storefront or a sandwich board. Nice clean look.
Great little coffee shop with a cool, relaxed vibe. baristas were friendly!
Okay, so Im definitely no coffee expert, but I will say this:I spent 3 weeks in Seattle over the summer. While there, I explored various local coffee shops on a hunt for the best cup of coffee I would ever have.None of the places I went to gave me an experience like Flatlands did here in BG.Ive never seen such passion for coffee before. You could see and hear how much Ben cared about not only the coffee he was making, but also where that coffee came from and his personal experiences with the people from whom it originated.Furthermore, they were so kind in explaining what their business was all about to me, an ignorant first-time visitor. I was immediately greeted and had a wonderful conversation! Even other visitors were kind to me. The shop itself seems to have its own community.Overall, I dont think Ill ever have an experience similar to what I experienced at Flatlands.
Wonderful brews, tasty flavors, and personable staffers. Prolly my new favorite hole in the wall ♡
