We’ve purchased wood a few times here and they are always super nice and helpful. All kinds of unique boards and slabs for a fair price. Always a good selection and wide variety of wood. By far the best around!
Definitely one of my favorite places to go. They offer a variety of beautiful live edge pine, beetle kill, and all sizes of rough cut lumber. Ive completed two whole home remodels using their product almost exclusively and couldnt be happier. If youre looking to remodel your home with a more rustic, all natural look, and at a fraction of the price of what you would pay at Home Depot, then look no further. Super laid-back and accommodating staff. Cash only FYI.
One of the strangest attempted business transactions of my life. Brought my truck, offered him cash for 1/2 cord of firewood. He said no, suggesting that he’d have to divert his employees to help me. I said “no, I just want to hand you cash and I’ll load my own truck.” He said fine, $200 for a half cord. I asked him how much a full cord costs, he said $190.As I walked out, he said “I hate selling firewood.” Which is odd, because he has a giant mountain of firewood for sale....Either his business is going so well that he doesn’t need money, or he’s losing his mind.
Love stacking wood when its 99°f - especially when humidity is 16%.
It’s not worth the effort to buy firewood. One time this winter they didn’t want to stack it so they tried to sell me scraps. Today, they just wouldn’t sell me firewood. Said they were busy, I offered to stack it myself, then they said they didn’t have any (they have enormous piles of wood), then they said come back next week(after the storm). I told them I would never come back for anything. What’s the point of offering items for sale if you’re too lazy to actually sell it. I advise you to get your firewood elsewhere. Oh, and the old guy was a complete jerk. The young guy was nice but he couldn’t do anything.
It says their open but they arent until march 2nd. I drove our here because on google it says they are open. Dont waste your time til March.
Rude. Minimally helpful both in person and on the phone. Unwilling to provide information necessary so I could have timber from my property processed into lumber at their sawmill. Lost a multi-thousand dollar job in the matter of 5 minutes of rude conversation.
John somehow lost the check I wrote him, wrote him another one, but the first one got into his account. he called me right back, apologized profusely and made it right! great integrity, and a nice product at a fair price to boot!
Never go past 4pm they are ready to be done and moral is low afterwards (it is a hot place also) so dont blame them... He is just that way so deal with it or get out of the kitchen I guess.Yet the mold on the boards put me in an asthmatic attack (and still trying to breath normal) early the next morning. Wish they spaced the boards so they can breath some and not mold which stays and stains the wood but isnt anything we can be around or risk getting airborne when working with it. Kinda a sad waste with a simple solution... Hope the best.
Olde Tyme Lumber is a working saw mill, not just a lumber yard. I could not find an office but a forklift driving by stopped to help me. I told the operator I wanted boards with a Iive edge and the size. He said when he could have my custom order, and he did have them when promised. Rough sawn with a live edge, — just as I wanted!
They have a good scam going on. They claim that you buy a full cord. They dump the wood into bin un-stacked, and then put a little extra on top. They assured me that it would be a full cord. The extra is suppose to make up for them not stacking the wood. When you load from the bin, you see the quality of the wood. The wood on top, looks like normal split wood, then as you go down through the bin you get a lot of shavings, and end cut pieces off the tree, this is filler in the box. The wood itself is not split wood from a complete tree, they cut trees into planks with their saws, leaving sections with one round side, and the other a normal cut from the plank. So the full tree is never split, and you do not get wood that is close to the center rings, which will burn better. Fair enough because their price is cheaper....BUT, the cord I received was 23 cu ft short (they do not expect you to stack, and measure the wood when you get home). I returned told a worker that it was short (you could tell he know it) and he said go help yourself to even it out. Fair enough again... So while I was stacking the wood the owner came by, and asked me what I was doing. I explained that the worker told me to take what was mission. The owner then replied, that is how we sell it, get out of here, and dont come back. He was incredibly rude, and did not care that I did not receive a full cord. Stay away the small difference in price is not worth it, especially since you have to pick all the wood out of a bin, and the wood is made up of scraps.
I would say if you want to find the charter for your idea this would be a great place to visit.
Love this place!
Friendly, great prices! Easy to find
Its great to see a mill like this still up and running. It looks like something out of mad max but apparently all the equipment runs. Dont expect much in the way of customer service as far as I can tell theres only two guys running the operation, but its the only place a round that supplies full dimension rough cut. Theyre usually backed up so best to put in an order ahead of time. The older guy that runs the place is a cranky old bastard so its best to deal with his son if you can find him. They are running the mill monday throuh friday so if you need small amounts or custom cuts its best to come on saturdays because they wont even cut boards down to length during the week (found out the hard way, broken windshield) Regardless still a good place to check out if you need something circle sawed or a dimension unavailable at home depot
Owner said he was too busy to help me and was extremely annoyed that I was only looking to purchase eight 6 ft boards. Asked if he would cut the boards down to eight feet to fit my vehicle and he said no. He wouldnt cut the wood. At a lumber mill...
This is the place to go for quality rough-cut pine boards and beams.
Had everything we needed
