I am a local and have been coming here for about 10 years. My favorites are the espresso drinks and scones. Even if you don’t think you’re a scone person I bet you’ll love these. The mocha latte has a great flavor. Great people watching at the patio. If you’re wanting a specific pastry go early because they can sell out by lunchtime of certain ones. They have made-to-order Italian soda (with cream option) for the kiddos. The non-pastry food is great too: quiche, soup, salads.

The baked goods at Spruce are fantastic, but the customer service is unusually slow. Friendly, but incredibly slow. I think they have a huge area of opportunity here as they usually have a line of 10 people out the door! For now, Ill pick up my Spruce baked goods elsewhere and skip the line.

The products are good, but the customer service is not so good, and I had to walk away the last few times I tried to go there. Really frustrating (like more than just being grumpy in the morning). They only let 4 people in at a time, so that adds to the wait, but then people will lolligag in there. Keep the line moving!

Our veggie quiche was sub-par, the atmosphere was fun for a quick bite, but going in for a well executed breakfast, we left disappointed. The egg was fairly dense, not light and fluffy, and the crust was gummy, not flaky. Not on par to a bakery staple. We also tried a blueberry crumble, which was exactly as it should be, rich and sweet. But, overall, we wont be returning

Everything here is made with a lot of love and wholesome ingredients. The pastries, soups and breakfast sandwiches are all excellent but its kinda hard to make up your mind with so many great options. They always seem busy, but the staff keeps pace and always provides great service with a smile. I love the tranquil courtyard and being away from the frenzied central part of Pearl.

This is my absolute favorite coffee shop to meet people or sit and read in Boulder. There is limited space inside, so you might have to wait for a spot if its real cold outside, but when its warm theres a wonderful outdoor patio courtyard with trees. Their coffee is the BEST and all their bakery goods and soups, sandwiches etc. are to die for. They have gluten free/vegan options for food and have a few alternative milk options for lattes. A lot of pople stop in to grab coffee and leave to walk pearl st. or wherever it is they go. Theres always a line, but it moves fast. You can buy bulk bread, cookies, or whatever they have on the menu that day.

These guys and gals know how to bake & pull shots of espresso! The chocolate chip cookie they were sampling was just divine. Oaty, richly chocolate flavored without overload and balanced sweetness. Fantastic. The ugly muffin if gooey, fun (and messy) to eat, has a great variety of silky soft, chewy crust, sugar-crunchy nut, and decadently sweet jam center. Lots of variety in different bites, and clearly joyfully creative in its making :)The espresso was mellow in a good way, and lacked the overt acid that I feel is so common in American espresso. Great complement to both the chocolate chip cookie and the ugly muffin. Will *definitely* be back.

It is located at tail end of busy Perl St, which is really nice especially when sitting at their out side tables. People seems to enjoy being out there. Pastry employee never acknowledged my presence even though It was my turn to be served and it was busy (turn down the music if you cant hear the customers), and when I ordered a coffee from the cashier he didnt hear me either. So I went outside to eat my croissant and drink my coffee I couldve sworn I was at Burger King. Croissant was sodden and chewy and coffee was acrid and over-roasted. I walked back inside, placed my purchased items next to the register without asking for a refund and left. Spruce, Home Of The Crisco Croissant

What a complete horrible experience. The wife and I got a sandwich across the street. There was a crazy lady barking and going on near the store so we decided to go across the street and eat at the confections place and planned on trying a dessert afterward. It was not crowded at all so we started to eat. 5 minutes into our meal a pompous guy come out and says hello! Then says this is reserved for paying customers only and we can’t eat there. The wife says we will leave then. And I said and we will never come back. We got into our car 5 feet away and fonahes our meal. There were 11 free tables besides ours but he went around and made sure the other two people had purchased something. Then the idiot gets into his car and takes off. He didn’t even pay to park in the parking area like we did. While we finished we looked around and saw a couple small prints saying for spruce customers only. They were not very big which is why we didn’t notice them. And even if we had, we would have sat down because we intended on having dessert there. But I don’t want to give my business to someone that treats people that way. At all. And if I was a customer looking into wether to shop here or not I would like to know information like this which is why I took the time to write a review. I will NEVER even think about trying this place again. And when it comes up in conversation you can guess what I’ll have to say about the “service” here.
