The desserts are great but beware some are very bitter. I ordered a chocolate mousse cup and asked the employees if the dessert was sweet. The two I asked said it was sweet however when I got home it was so bitter that I couldn’t even eat any. Great store, but the employees need to know what the desserts taste like before giving recommendations. The only reason I bought a $6 chocolate mousse cup was because of the employees input. Very very disappointed.
Lived in Portland Oregon for 6 years and went here to get the Portland based Moonstruck Chocolate truffles. Anyways fell in love with their local desserts and keep going back. Below are my favorites:1) Tiramisu.... you have got to have it! Its the best I have ever had. Its that generous quantity of espresso drenched lady fingers that is so satisfying. Unfortunately their espresso machine broke (and they seem to be in no rush to fix it) that its currently not available...??2) Black Forest Cake... like the tiramisu they add a twist to it and its not your typical Black Forest cake. The liquor soaked cherries and the crunchy chocolate bits surrounding the dessert add so much more dimension to it!3) Flourless Chocolate cake.... ooohh how this delicious ooey gooey perfection melts in your mouth... I can taste it as I write this review. So guys do yourself a favor, stop by this place and get any of the desserts I mentioned. You wont regret it :)
We got our wedding cake October 9th and it was amazing!! The cake was so well decorated and every flavored tier tasted outstanding, our guests commented it was the best wedding cake they have ever had! Would highly recommend, thank you Macrissa for meeting our high expectations for baked goods ❤️ -Paige and Mike
Went to a party last night and ate the most spectacular cake I have ever had the pleasure of eating. It not only looked beautiful...it tasted even better. The layering of flavors is to die for. Whoever made this crystal cake for Bob must be awarded something.
Plenty of chocolate items to drool over, though I did find the service to be a bit slow and organized. I ordered a dark and spicy sipping chocolate, plus a chocolate cookie to go. The staff was friendly enough, yet they didnt ask what temperature I wanted my drink at; I ended up having to wait 30 minutes before I could drink it without getting a burned tongue. When I finally did drink it, it wasnt spicy in the least, and it was more bitter than I expected (I dont know how dark the chocolate was, maybe 70%+?). Plus, the cookie had a little bit of a plasticky aftertaste, unfortunately.
Class act through and through. We were greeted by Nick, one of the artisans who cooks and prepares some of the treats. He was friendly and very helpful.I tried one of the milk chocolate truffle bites. Then I tried 2 more. Then the Cherry Pie.Then Stranahans. ..All delicious.Greg, the owner was very excited to share his experiences of traveling through Europe and how his time living abroad helped shape his passion for decadent desserts.Thank you for ruining my diet!
So it’s a really beautiful fun store with great atmosphere and lots of good options. The chocolate was tasty but it is extremely expensive for what little you might buy, if you’re buying the counter items. Also the lady that was working behind the counter at the time was seemed agitated and wanted to rush us to pick and pay. The store wasn’t terribly busy and no one else seemed to have this attitude. It wasn’t the kind of vibe that made me want to buy anything or come back again especially with another confectionary store less than a block away. A lot of people love this place, this was just my experience but I’d recommend other shops first.
Paid $8 for some nice looking marshmallows that were crunchy with chunks of undissolved sugar.
Wonderful selection of creative confections and cakes. Their variety of chocolate truffles is vast, so much that its hard to choose for your custom box. Stop-in on a cold day for some incredible hot chocolate.
My daughter and I took the macaroon class and it was amazing! Not to mention everything was incredibly delicious!
Bought a giant caramel pecan dark chocolate turtle today. So good
I really like this place. Sometimes it does get a little crowded, but each chocolate is its own burst of flavor.
What an amazing experience! Greg made us feel right at home, touring us through the collection of treats, all made fresh right in shop! Their sipping chocolate is pure liquid cocoa heaven and we cant wait to come back for more! They have great vegan selection, so big plus there too 👍
Dare I say....the best Creme Brulee in CO?!?!?! WOW! So glad you guys are here to feed my addiction. The Truffles were epic, the staff is friendly. Ill be back!!
I make it a point to stop by here every time I visit Denver. Never disappointed.
The chocolate here is amazing. If you go, make sure to get the sipping chocolate, its the best I have ever had.
Their salted caramel chocolate cake is amazing!!! My family and friends can’t sit raving about it. It’s a truly beautiful piece of art that tastes incredible. The staff is always super helpful and patient while I try and pick out just a few things and trust me it’s really hard to not buy the entire store Everything in the shop is delicious.
The sipping chocolate is the PERFECT cold weather beverage if you dont love coffee. Its rich a decadent :)
Everything you can imagine that this place is- it’s more. Fantastic chocolates, cakes, fudge and more! Staff does a great job with suggestions- lots to choose from!
What happened to this place? Once it was excellent gourmet chocolate. Now it’s tastes of cheap quality and cutting corners for an exorbitant price. Truly sad that something once so special has become so cheapened. I’ll never buy their waxy, tasteless chocolate again. I’ll drive out of my way to go to Robin’s Chocolates for their reasonable price and high quality.
Such good pastries! I love the aesthetic and people. I would love more vegan choices though ;)
Ate two large chocolate chip cookies. great!
This place is just a charm, I wish some of the chocolates were more reasonably priced, but can only be impressed and in love with the theme the ambiance and the spirit of the place.. Also TY for great customer support
Alfred really knows his stuff- I ended up getting twice what I meant to and didnt regret it. Try the tiramisu.
This was a pretty nice spot in Boulder to get some chocolate and pastries. The food overall was alright, nothing mind blowing to make note of although the cookies were very good. Its also one of those places with inflated prices that dont really match the quality of what they serve but its worth a check if youre in the area.
Definitely the best chocolate in town. Skip Rocky Mountain chocolate factory and go for the real deal at this local business. Their seasonal pastries are amazing too. Cutest lil chocolate shop. Sort of enchanted.
Good chocolates. Friendly service. A little pricey, but it is a boutique chocolate shop with a large selection. If you are looking for a gift, or a fun journey for you and your palate after smoking some sweet Colorado recreational, check it out.
Tasty bites sending out in packages for the holidays
Every time someone new comes into town, we make CERTAIN to bring them here.Heres the deal:1. The store is super cute. Decorations are great, selection of chocolate is awesome, really cool vibe.2. Everyone (literally EVERYONE) we take here says that theyve never had a chocolate chip cookie as good as this place.3. There cakes are incredible. Even the gluten free cakes. In fact, I cant even tell that the gluten free cakes arent made with gluten.Seriously, one of the best places on Pearl
I love this place! It’s my favorite place for chocolate, coffee, and chocolate torts.
The chocolates, truffles, and sipping chocolate are all delicious of course. The real treats though are the cakes and pastries. These are actually among the best in Boulder and Denver. Very, very, good!
One of my favorite Boulder stores! Theres a treat for all, including GF/V/DF. Ive sent several gift orders from them and they are always loved by the recipient. Be sure to get a slice of cake to go! Or get a cake for your next party; you will not be disappointed!
Absolutely amazing all hand made treats. The staff are so friendly and they have classes!Update about a year later and it is just as great today as my last visit. I would venture to say even better!
I was too hungry to eat when we passed by but I did try a sample of the peanut butter bouche and it was fantastic. An intense and elevated peanut butter cup. Definitely on my list for a future visit
What a great variety of treats! All looked great. We purchased a German Chocolate cake, salted Caramel cake and an Amoreo. All were delicious.
Excellent unique chocolates. I love visiting this place every time I’m in Boulder. Theyre a bit pricey but for storefront businesses to stay open on Pearl Street, I’m sure they need to be. Really quality stuff. And free water too. 😉
Amazing truffles and sipping chocolate. The classes are also fun. Love this place ❤️
Too much chocolate, too little time to eat it all! 😆The chocolate is amazing, but I think their cakes really take the cake! 🍰 Yum! And their white chocolate chai is simply amazing!
Small shop with wonderful treats. The truffles are pricey, but delicious. I love their cookies. I think theyre all winners. Their cakes are also fantastic. The chocolates on the walls make great gifts.
I cant say enough wonderful things about PL&C. They make so many delicious treats, all by hand. The truffle selection is overwhelming (in the BEST way!). They have impressive gluten-free options, like salted caramel chocolate cake and the MOST amazing chocolate raspberry torte called the Raspbeverly. I also love the sipping chocolate. One of my favorite places in all of Boulder!
INCREDIBLE chocolates that are just to die for. An excellent selection of truffles, and little cakes. Its also just a cool shop to go in to and look around, with friendly staff. The chocolate covered bacon is fantastic. So is the rose fancy-Twix-bar. Yum!
The chocolate was decent but nothing to write home about and the staff was very unwelcoming. We had never been in before and I mentioned that. The woman seemed to be bothered by our presence and when we asked for a bag to put our purchases in she questioned us before giving us one. Won’t be back.
If you are a Chocoholic, you need to visit this quaint shop on Pearl. Try the sipping hot chocolate. I would recommend the dark one with a hint of chile...it is spicy, but delicious! You can also try the milk chocolate for a more sweeter sipping drink. I just love this place!
This place is great, their chocolate is top notch of course, but they also go out of their way to help you. Not only are they open long hours, and *near* free parking, a big deal of Pearl street, but when I had forgotten until the last minuet to pick up a hostess gift, they let me swing by even after they were closed to pick it up. Well with the price, and the drive down to Pearl Street.
People are still talking about how much they loved the cake (especially the salted caramel one) from my wedding 8 months ago. I feel that writing now definitely passes the wedding high positive review, that they really made a wonderful cake. We had one small cake we cut that they nicely put together and 2 types of sheet cake. It was a big hit. And Genny McGregor was very helpful and wonderfully nice and personal. Our wedding was in Estes Park in the winter, but she made it was all there and taken care and worked with the florist to put flowers in it.
I love being able to buy these specialty chocolates by the piece. Fantastic selection. Note that some of the varieties are not produced by the Boulder company - Ive never bothered to ask which, but thought Id mention it so you know. Prices are high but I make the chocolates last by taking teeny little bites. :-)
Wow. Just wow. Delicious creative handmade chocolate. Also they have drinking chocolate and something called a molten jolt, which is a double shot of espresso mixed with chocolate, and I mean straight up chocolate. And it costs less than a latte. Is this real life? Yes. Yes it is.
Id love to comment on the chocolate. Alas, but the war are too expensive for me to venture an opinion. Everything LOOKS nice, and clearly made with skill and imagination. Cant say so about the staff who seemed eager for me to buy or GTFO.Dirty pool guys...
Simply the best sweets shop in town. Hands down. An inviting atmosphere and an array of intoxicating smells. My most favorite and most frequently visited shop. These bakers know what theyre doing. From pristine French macarons to the exquisite tiramisu. You wont be disappointed in whatever you decide to enjoy. They also offer monthly classes so you, yourself, can make these decadents at home.
Pros: amazing service. The girl working the counter was really niceCons: everything else. The clientele was pretty crumby as were the macarons. The cookie was mushy and the filling to cookie ratio was pretty bad. I had really high hopes....but just no.
The hot chocolate isnt rich or flavorful. The selection of truffles is vast, but beyond that theres not much variety. The macarons are priced well but theyre too crunchy. Music I didnt care for was a little too loud. Theres no restrooms. The staff was nice though and its a cute cozy shop.
Probably the most famous and sought after Chocolate shop in Boulder. One of the must go places in Boulder. Try the sipping chocolate. It is just amazing.
Piece Love and Chocolate is amazing. They have dozens of small truffles that you can mix and match, truly amazing/rich hot chocolate, and very friendly staff. They also do classes if youre interested in learning more about making chocolate. I go here whenever I need chocolate for a special occasion.
So many chocolates, many exotic flavors, liqueur chocolate (plus wine and beer ones). Plus cakes and sumptuous desserts of all sorts. Cute decor to show visitors. Whats not to like?
Eclairs and truffles are both top drawer. Cookies are solid (in a good way of course). Definitely worth the trip. I will return for sure.
Even though they specialize in chocolate, PLC may be one of the 2 best places for a slice of cake in Boulder. Friendly knowledgeable staff as well as owners. If you are walking around west Pearl this is worth a look. They also create some of the best truffles around. World class.
Great selection of desserts and gourmet chocolates. It was yum! Definitely try it once if you are in the area!
Quaint little chocolate shop. Nice service. And Ozo coffee.
This shop has an amazing selection of chocolates, cakes, cupcakes, and a million other treats and drinks! The decorations and overall vibe of the shop is fantastic as well. The staff is super friendly and gave us free truffles for being first time customers! We bought some truffles and thought they were great. 12/10 adorable af
Delicious and decadent!! Great for a piece of special chocolate!! I recommend the seasonal special themed chocolates best!!!
A chocolate lovers paradise. If it can be made from or made to taste/smell like chocolate, you can buy it here. They even make their own chocolate marshmallows. I highly recommend the cake, the Left Hand Milk Stout Chocolate Cake or the Seven Layer are both excellent choices.
I love PL&C! Sarah, Genny, Bev and Nathan (and probably others, these are just the makers I have met in the store!) are dedicated, highly-skilled artisans serving up the BEST chocolates and cakes in Boulder. Their truffles and pralines are very well made with lots of unique flavors and creative decorations. The cakes and pastries are also divine: get a slice of the salted caramel chocolate cake, its a serious dose of chocolate for your money.Disclaimer (sort of): I have taken one class at their establishment (Cake Building) and it was simply splendid. Their willingness to engage chocolate enthusiasts and spread knowledge to the wider community just makes them good people, in my eyes. Theyve supplied me with tips and even some inspiration free of charge, perhaps influencing this review! ;) Yep, Im biased, that is all.
We love Piece Love and Chocolate! Everyone who works there is wonderful, and theres a great selection ranging from small truffles (affordable and diet-conscious) to decadent cakes, including some vegan and gluten-free items. My family always likes to stop by the shop when visiting, and our legendary wedding cake from is still discussed by friends and family (although PL&C has discontinued making wedding cakes). A few months ago, I took Sarah (the owners) mousse class, and learned a ton. The classes are amazing opportunity to learn special techniques in a small intimate setting with lots of hands-on instruction. I made so much mousse in the class that I ended up freezing some of it -- the price of the class more than paid for itself with all of the chocolate that I took home, and the store also offers a discount on all purchases on the day that you attend a class.
Piece Love and Chocolate made my wedding cake and desert bar May of 2015!!! They did an incredible job, even making a few vegan cup cakes for my vegan guests. Genny went above and beyond making a fantasy themed cake that matched our adventure themed wedding. We might get divorced and remarried just to have more of that cake...
Love the cookies, but this is the 2nd time the cake we ordered was dried out and old tasting. Disappointing.
Its pure decadence, what else can I say. My wife really loved the place and the selection of chocolate truffles was awesome! Make sure you try the lemon pepper, if they still have it. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Make sure you stop by if you are strolling down Pearl Street.
Got there near seven, it wasnt very crowded. Nothing but great experiences here. Feels like a place in Los Angeles I loved.
Seems like new ownership. Lived on pearl st for years and it was always a warm, welcoming environment. I came in today and felt rushed and like I was bothering the person helping me. I asked about if they still had the chocoholics rewards program and the response I got was : we got rid of the things that were hurting the business. Very strange and terrible customer interaction.
Ive visited several times. Staff is always welcoming and helpful, and the chocolate is delicious! If youre in the Boulder area, Id definitely suggest a visit.
Expensive but also amaizing. I like to go here as a special treat. My favorites are the whiskey chocolates and the salted caramel. The cakes Ive tried are also really good.
Most excellent chocolate in every conceivable creation one might dream of. Remarkable! 👍😎🌰
This is a no-nonsense-get-your-chocolate-treat-on kind of place. Drinking chocolate and chocolate desert options available. They have an unsweetened sipping chocolate (French style they call it) if you are avoiding sugar but still want a dark treat.
Amazing store and delicious chocolates and pastries. Highly recommend this place over any of the other chocolate stores on Pearl!
If I could give it more than five stars I would. Handmade truffles, cakes, macrons and everything chocolate.
My boyfriend suprised me with a triple chocolate cake from here and I LOVED it! High quality chocolate and very artisan ❤️❤️ You can’t get better chocolate anywhere else! Would highly recommend!!
Very cute place with very nice employees. Great place to take a date after a meal on pearl street.
Wonderful staff who are always available to assist you in choosing from their variety of goodies. Their bonbons and macarons are beautifully displayed, its hard not to get them all. We ended up getting a small variety box to share; the one I ate had black sea salt (would definitely buy more of that again). Make sure you check out the wall towards the back displaying imported chocolate bars with unique flavors.
This place is amazing. They have an unbelievable variety of chocolates and chocolate products. Everything Ive ever tried here is delightful as well.
This is a must do when visiting Boulder! Exquisite chocolates and delicious desserts, coffees and more. Great staff and atmosphere. Dont miss this!
