Amazing! We had the BEST time. The sweetest guys helped me make a pendant and earrings right in the store! It meant so much to me. I can’t wait to go back.
Thanks to this place I was able to find the perfect hand shaped bead to glue to my new lighter case! I cut off the ring part and then glued a tiny piece of Magnesite to the hand for the finishing touches! My only complaint about this place is how I realllyy wish they had more copper beads in stock, as each time I’m there I can only find maybe one or two different copper beads. But other then that this place rocks!
I always get so excited walking in here! Every time I go, they always have something new. The staff is welcoming and helpful. The first time I bought beads to make a bracelet, an employee even gave me some elastic string to try out before I bought a whole package. Love this place and the inspiration I get from them!
Nomads is a Boulder staple and has been a local business for 20+ years. my first time in was with a family friend who used to live in Boulder. She loves Nomad Bead Shop and for good reason. If you like making your own jewelry its a pretty great little resource. It does not end at a craft shop. Nomads also has a jeweler attached and offers services for repair and commission pieces. Both spaces feel very different but are tied together by the ownership harmoniously. There is a local vibe here, were people are welcomed and regulars are greeted with warm enthusiasm. While I am not a jewelry person myself, I was welcomed here and the store is a macro photographers dream. There are countless small trinkets, cascading waves of colors, and ordered chaos culminating in a aesthetic safari bounding with creative potential. Also there is sometimes a really cool motorcycle parked outside.
I called Jake to have him repair an existing Mala I had been using for years. He did an excellent job with that, and also made me a new Lapis-beaded Mala as well as a small 21-bead bracelet. Working with Jake was a pleasure. His work is amazing and I am very pleased. I would highly recommend his products and services.
One of the most beautiful shops around. Filled with everything you could want to build your next project or have one made for you. Also some of the kindest most amazing humans you will ever meet in this lifetime make visiting this little shop one of lifes musts
This place is amazing. The work they do is unreal. I brought a rare piece to them for a repair and they outdid themselves to ensure it wouldn’t break ever again. Love love love is all they dish! 10/10 would recommend.
The place has an energy that you feel You are welcome without anybody say that to you. Very knowledge, treat client nice and even though my foregn accent is not the perfect English they were able to talk to me and attend me very nice. I saw so many beautiful beads there and I will come back soon. I wish all the success to this store
The gentleman that owns the company did a great job on creating a Lock on my bead bracelet. He’s very creative
Do not miss this shop when you are on a pearl st. I went in to make an amethyst bead mala and someone helped me recently. I love Nomad because I love crystals and they have so many great ones. I add crystal necklaces that I build here to my outfits, it’s affordable and fun and they’ll help you put something together right there if you want. Tihere are always multiple people working in there to help you with your project and the attached jewelery store is also amazing! Nomad is a must go to for me if I’m building an outfit for a festival or a show.
Participated in. Channel Bracelet making class with my friend yesterday! Margot is a great teacher and fun too! We were able to leave with a finished bracelet! Love it! The rest of the staff are very helpful and just onery enough to make your time in the store fun. Very knowledgeable, friendly, great selection packed into a great space. Thank you Margot!
Grate group of people here. Hope this place sticks around Boulder. Its one of the few local places left.
Helpful staff who arent afraid of children being in the store!
This is one of the best stores in Boulder, hands down. Would give 10 stars if I could. I have always felt welcome here, they have thousands of amazing unusual beads, and they are more than happy to help with any question you might have. How stores used to be... tons of customer service and amazing product. Thank goodness they are in Boulder.
Better than Disneyland! This place is a treasure trove of everything you might need to create, collect or gift. A rainbow of precious stones and metals, beads, glass, crystals and anything you might need to put them together. The owner and staff are warm and engaging and the positive energy is palpable. There are even work tables to settle in and make something fabulous with the help of experts. This is the mecca of beads! Dont miss it if in Boulder
This bead store has everything to inspire you, and a great helpful staff usually in there beading. So awesome! Best bead store I have ever visited, it’s so fun to shop there!
This place is really the best. They have great prices on all sorts of gems and beads. I havent taken a class yet, but have been told I need to! Everyone is very nice and helpful. Great energy here.
Staff is so helpful and knowledgeable. Good selection of beads and some uncommon stones can be found here. My go to bead store.
This is a lovely business! Its so much more than just beads. The warm and welcoming owner/manager herself was a delight. Such stunning beads and artwork, plus refreshments! I felt as if I was being welcomed into someones home. And almost best of all, Nomad Beads is located in gorgeous Boulder, Co. Flowers everywhere, smiling people, friendly dogs and the unique vibe that is Boulder. Thank you for being part of it all, Nomad Beads!
I have loved my experience with Nomad, Jake and all of the other incredibly kind people that work there have been so helpful in making sure I purchase the correct things for my beading. They have an amazing selection, fair prices, and provide a wealth of knowledge! I will continue to get excited every time I get the pleasure of visiting—definitely check out Nomad while looking for any of your beading necessities or if you are interested in having custom jewelry made. Five stars!
They have just about anything you need & more. Great selection, prices are reasonable. Staff are all wonderful. Margo is the master at drilling. Classes are wonderful. Love Catherine. Always feel welcome & they don’t mind if you browse for a long time. Jake is always upbeat & cheerful. It’s a treat going to Nomad.
I went for the first time having read reviews saying that they had everything for jewelry makers. Selection for serious jewelry makers is not very big, although they do have beautiful beads. Waited at the counter for a few minutes without being acknowledged, I think its because I didnt seem like someone with a lot of money because it was obvious they were bending over backwards for other clients. I was very interested in looking at all the locally made jewelry so after paying I went to the jewelry room. The entire time I was there I was followed by a worker, she didnt ask if I needed anything she was just watching me, it made me so uncomfortable that i had to leave. I didnt see the workers doing that with anyone else so my impression was that it was because I was the only person of color there. The most pleasant experience I had was when a very kind homeless man opened the door for me. Unfortunately I will not be going back. My advice to staff is to work on customer service and making their diverse customers feel welcomed.
To be fair, I am not an experienced user of beads, so i simply do not know if my review would a different tone if I were. That being said, my experience visiting the shop was amazing! I was looking for an idea for a mother/daughter date and walked in to join a beginners class. The instructor, Margo, was very knowledgeable and patient, especially with my 8 year old daughter. In the end, she helped my daughter design a necklace and made her feel very special for having such a magical possession. I plan to return again with my other daughter sometime.
Helpful and friendly staff. I go here whenever I have a project to work on. Great selection and good prices.
Wonderful store and so colorful! Great location and such a friendly staff. I highly recommend this place if your a bead lover.
I come all the way from Longmont to shop at this location, it it my favorite. There is a wide selection of gorgeous glass/stone beads, tassels, & string. Prices are very reasonable, quality is amazing, staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, classy environment. There isnt a place Id rather shop to get supplies for my projects. If you have an eye for quality & uniqueness Nomad Beads is your place!
Love theses guys!!! So open hearted, welcoming, knowledgeable and kind. I feel so lucky to have them here in Boulder!
Beautiful bead store, lots of inventory that you can’t find anywhere else and displayed in a manner that is easy to find and welcome to exploration. I sat with Margot for a while learning techniques and she was patient and thorough. Jake, the owner, was helpful in pointing me in the right direction for an artisan needed for a family project. I will definitely be back. 5 Stars!
Jake is one of the most welcoming, warm hearted store owners I have met since living in Boulder. He has helped me numerous times, with anything from a quick fix, to adding a magnetic closure for a necklace belonging to my 92 year old mother who can no longer close a clasp, to creating a matching pearl necklace of the one I wear for my granddaughter. We have had some heart to heart talks about life, death and everything in between. I always leave there with a smile. I am so grateful to him and his beautiful store.
I had the opportunity to take a class from Catherine while I was in Boulder this last July. It was so helpful and she has so much knowledge that it was such a blast to learn how to string pearls. The time flew by and now I will sign up for other classes whenever Im back in town. Thanks guys what a great way to spend a morning.P.S. Beth I hope your surgery goes well and youre back on your feet in no time.Love my pearl necklace that i bought! I get tons of compliments.
Hit or miss with the nice staff. Nice way of putting it, owner is prejudice. Great selection of beads.
Very welcoming shop with good quality products with good prices to match. This store is very queer friendly, one of the employees misgendered me on accident, then came up to me and asked my pronouns and apologized a few minutes later. Best bead/rock shop in Boulder
Great for arts and crafts supplies! I also get beads to put in my hair here, staff is super friendly! Thanks!
My whole family loves Jake and his amazing store. His selection is jaw-dropping. He’s more than happy to help you make a necklace or bracelet. Please, do yourself a favor and go say hi. You’ll be glad you did.
I love this store. Besides having a wonderful selection of all kinds of supplies for jewelry making and a very helpful staff, they also offer great classes on many different techniques. Ive taken 4 classes now from three different instructors and all have been very informative and helpful.
Today was a heart breaker. I would never recommend this place to any friend or family member. After shopping for two special huichol bracelets on Pearl St. in Boulder, I went into Nomad Bead Merchants to have slip knots tied where there were 4 loose long strings to work with on each bracelet. A man by the name of Jake assisted me and acted as if my request was simple. He tied slip knots into my bracelets, however they were so tight that no one could have tightened or loosened them without assistance. I asked Jake politely how I was suppose to take my bracelets off with one hand. His reply was “That’s a good question.. I can fix this.” He then cut out the slip knots, which completely destroyed the length of the original band of each bracelet. He grabbed 2 ugly copper button type beads and tied a basic knot to create a “clasp” around the copper. Jake never asked me if I would like to put a clasp on the bracelets let alone if I would like to pick beads or “clasps” out from the bead store that I liked. I was charged more than $25 although he ruined the bracelets that I had just purchased and the copper couldn’t have been more than .25 cents each. Knowing of my saddened heart of my now ruined bracelets, Jake did not care to resolve the situation when I communicated my disappointment. This was the worst experience I’ve had since moving to Colorado over 6 months ago. It was heart breaking after coming into Boulder specifically for these bracelets that I spent around $100 on. I highly suggest going elsewhere for work needed on bracelets, necklaces, etc unless your jewelry is not important to you. I will never step foot in this store again. All I wanted was a simple slip knot tied into each bracelet. My experience was a nightmare.
Absolutely love this place. Everyone’s always so willing to help or answer questions and they always have the best quality materials!
Selection is beautiful, perfect. Customer service; with the exception of 32 employees sucks. They may have gotten better, but Ive experienced and having to wait along time, without even being acknowledged possibly because I looked like I didnt have as much money as the bimbo in front of me. Not a good experience. I was furious and boycotted Monad Beads for along time.
We had a great time there today! This lovely lady helped the boys make really cool bracelets while I made awesome earrings. I can’t wait to go again!
This is a cute little bead store in downtown Boulder. I wouldnt say that its the best place for serious jewelry makers, but the quality is good and the prices are surprisingly affordable. Nobody hassled me while looking through bead strings, a regrettable habit by other store owners who tend to hover.
A large variety of stone beads, pearls, glass beads etc. a little random on the seed beads ... high level of service, great classes. A really great place to shop. Its possible to hang out and use the tools and make things on the spot, as well.
I love this place. Its quirky, the staff is extremely knowledgeable and goes above and beyond to help both with design and implementation of any project. I purchase beads there to make malas for meditation. The bead quality and availability is outstanding. The nylon threads come in an array of colors and are totally durable. Thanks for having this store in Boulder.
The folks who work there are very helpful and kind. And they have alot of great beads and beading supplies!
I love beads. So automatically they get points. Its a bit unorganized in areas and I dont think they know that they have things that they do, twice I was told they dont have something or another item then I came across them. The staff is awesome and super nice!
Fun bead shop. Took my nieces there and they love it. They ot great advice from the shopkeeper l.
Cute store. Great selection of beads! Friendly people!
Jake is great!!! Always so knowledgeable, highly skilled and artistic. Hes definitely one of the friendliest merchants in Boulder- and its genuine!! The Nomad staff are wonderful, its a great time spending an hour or two creating with this inspired staff.
This has to do with jewelry repair. I had a carved bone pendent that broke. Didnt think it could be repaired. Took it here and what a fantastic job they did.
Want to see the worst customer service? Please go to Nomad. I left an expensive pedant and want the owner to braid a necklace. When I picked it up, i found there was a chip on the coral. But he said it is natural. At night, I showed that to my husband. He said the chip was not there before. So today I went back to talk to him. We sit in the jewelry store next to Nomad. I brought my own X14 magnifier and asked him nicely if he could look at it again, because i thought it is a chip. He suddenly stood up and yelled at me you are so redigulous. I do not want to talk to you. You go out of my store! It is the first time in my life seeing such kind of excellent service. When he tried to get business, he smelled to you. When you have concern, sorry, go out of the store! If you want to bring expensive stuff there, make sure you take pictures before you drop there, ask the owner to look at carefully when you hand over and confirm there is no damage on your piece. when pick it up, check it carefully. Otherwise, it is all natural!!!!I really do not know how this store could run with such kind of owner.
This is my second time in this shop. The first time I was there, the staff seemed very helpful. The second time I went with my son who wanted to make some seed bead bracelets for a friend and he had never done anything like this before. The person working the store, a taller, heavier set woman in about her 30s or 40s with hair pulled back seemed bothered that we even wasted her time to ask her for help. We had to spend twice the amount of time in the store trying to figure out what to buy. She even rolled her eyes when I asked what kind of cord to buy. We were initially going to go with elastic, but my son really wanted to do a clasp, so we had to change directions. This sales clerk was short, rude and was helpful only reluctantly. We were nervous about this whole idea and were hoping someone could show us some basics to help my son go home and finish the bracelets on his own. She was clearly not willing to help at all. It made the entire experience, one I was looking forward to with my son, somewhat miserable. I couldnt wait to get out of the store and I will never return. I will look for a bead shop somewhere else where the staff is more pleasant to work with. Only go to this shop if you are a master beader and dont need any help or advise.
The workers were very nice and helped me pick the oerfect gift
Very helpful staff to create something unique for gift ideas!
They got it all. Jake is super knowledgable to boot.
Wonderful selection, beautiful jewelry, beads, crystals and atmosphere. However, the customer service is awful! I went into the store, was probably one of three other customers, did not get acknowledged, and I had to ask someone multiple times to see something in a display case before they actually ended their conversation with their coworker and helped me. Will not be returning to do business here.
Such a cool find! The workers are extremely helpful just make sure to ask for help your first time in!
Wonderful place to spend an afternoon! This store has great energy, the staff is experienced and helpful!! There is an amazing selection of beads and findings at reasonable prices.
Dazzling selection of all things in the world beads.
They have beautiful beads.Very friendly & helpful.
For the best in Beads and Trinkets to support your creativity this is the hotspot you have got to see.
Both shops were a lot of fun and employees gave us insight on deals in the shops.
Nomad is an amazing bead shop! They offer a wide selection of beads, fabulous classes and excellent customer service! Theyre a fantastic locally owned business!!!!
It is one of my favorites! So many wonderful stones and every employee is very knowledgable and helpful!
What an amazing first time experience! Jake helped me and gave me excellant personable service. Came into the store expecting to buy a piece of string for a pendant, and Jake- the Master Beader, surprised me to let me know he could restring/re-fasten it, taking thorough time to make sure it was the correct length, so much that it was past closing time and his coworkers were waiting on him to begin a work meeting. He assured me, after my apology for keeping him late, for no worries. He really took the time and was so personable. The space has a great feel of comfort from first entry of the store. I cant wait to go back to shop for beads!
Margo helped me tie off a bracelet & a mala I was making.
Helpful staff. Actually went there for fly tying supplies... Glass beads. Huge selection. Reasonably priced and beyond friendly staff.
Fantastic selection. Knowledgeable staff. Good at designing solutions and repairs.
Very knowledgeable. Nice variety.
My first experience here was great! I parked my car with 12 minutes on the meter and ran in looking for clasps for a 1/8 braided leather necklace. I spent 5 minutes looking, overwhelmed by the sheer quantity and variety of their selection but couldnt find the clasps. Finally I asked a woman who was sitting at a table working on something for help. She got up right away and showed me right to the clasps. Again I was surprised by the selection; gun metal black, sterling silver, brushed metal, etc. I went with the gun metal to match the color of the necklace and she grabbed the matching rings that I hadnt even thought to get, but would have had to come back for once realizing this. I paid under $2 and got back to my car with 2 minutes on the meter and was very pleased with my experience. I have already been recommending this place to my friends.
Margo and another lady were a great help. 1st Class Service. Thank You!
I am so impressed with this shop. Beautiful, unique finds, reasonable prices and the sweetest most knowledgeable people.
This store carries crystals and great jewelry making resources, but I refused to spend my $ here when I learned that they sell wolf/coyote claws sourced from fur production. I was disappointed upon learning that they sell wild boar tusk also, which is sourced from meat production. Its contradictory to sell precious crystals meant for healing and hanging Buddhist imagery in the shop, but finding it acceptable to support the fur and meat industry. The owner was eating cheetos and a tuna sandwich while tending to customers. Its unfortunate, because the associates were all helpful and lovely. I wouldnt shop here if I considered myself a conscious consumer. I was ready to make a purchase, but changed my mind upon learning the information.
Amazing selection of everything we needed and great people!
We went to look at their beads and were impressed with the selection and variety.
This bead shop offer a vast array of beads and materials along with the help of smiling staff members.
This place has everything and the staff is so knowledgeable. Sparks my creativity just walking in!
Love this place for birthday parties with the ladie$! Made cute malas together made that peice of jewlery so much more memorable! 💓👋
Very fun selection of beads from literally all over the world, with knowledgeable, helpful staff and good prices.
Wow!! These people are super helpful. I drove all the way from Nebraska to get an amber necklace...they had one!!!
This is a place to spend hours. Great staff, beautiful beads, classes and much more.
Great bead selection. Friendly, helpful staff.
This place is an awesome find!!! Spent a girls day out with a friend at Nomad. I had called a few weeks before to check things out and learned that they have tables and tools you could use to work on jewelry projects right there and that if needed they could help out a bit. First of all, when we walked in we were mesmerized by the number and variety of not only beads, but all the extras, tools, and other supplies to make beautiful high quality jewelry and other related projects, and with their offering more than just a bit of help, projects that are of artisan quality. Won helped my friend design a necklace, pick out beads and a few accent bobbles, and spent the entire time we were there providing guidance, support and even hands-on help including her doing a number of finishing touches that we as novices would never had envisioned let alone executed. And then there was Kaegan - a self taught artisan known particularly for his wire wrapping jewelry. I had come in with several strands of beads I had bought at Nomad back 2 maybe even 3 years ago with the intent on recreating a multi-strand twisted necklace to replace a favorite one I had lost. Despite having the beads, a special clasp that would accommodate a number of strands, all the other basic supplies and tools I thought I needed, and some experience making jewelry, the beads sat untouched in a ziplock bag. That was until yesterday where with time specifically carved out to work on this project as a means for spend time with my friend, having access to all the right tools, and with Won and Kaegan walking me through the steps, providing tips, and Kaegan by my side helping bring the project home by providing hands-on help including ideas for a more elegant way of finishing it and attaching a different clasp than the one I had originally intended, I now have a finished wearable necklace thats more beautiful and more secure than the original. In addition, Kaegan even helped me repair a few pairs of earrings Id also been meaning to work on but hadnt quite gotten around to doing. From Won to Kaegan to Beth to Bonnie and to Jake (co-owner with whom I had initially talked to on the phone that sealed the deal for our coming in), the staff at Nomad cant be beat, their shop is amazing, and both my friend and I will be back to make more jewelry, take some of the classes and workshops they offer as well, and check out their shop next door/attached called Adorned which features handcrafted gifts and jewelry from local female artists. Thank you Nomad for a great day!
Great selection of beads, jewelry, and fittings. Helpful, knowledgable staff.
Wonderful selection, beautiful store, very friendly staff. Found what I was looking for easily and saw many many many beautiful things I didnt know I was I looking for!
Great selection and service. Namaste😇 🌻🙏🏼
Ive been shopping at Nomad for almost 20 years. Great selection of beads and I love the knowledgeable helpful staff.
Knowledgeable, helpful staff, high quality merchandise. Can be on the expensive side, but very fairly priced for the quality.
Wonderful free starter classes along with a nice selection of beads
Margot is so helpful. Be sure to stop by the free Saturday classes each week!!
Great staff, very helpful.
Awesome jewelry shop with a lot of unique finds!
Cool store, lots of beads and gems.
I bought a Buddha head bead!
Good variety of beads! Very friendly people!
Had a terrible first experience with an unfriendly staff employee (may have been the owner). I mentioned I was not very experienced with beading, she suddenly became impatient and hesitant to help. I recently stopped by again, thinking perhaps the first time around was just bad luck… but this time another employee was even more rude! Very disappointing… unfriendly and overpriced for what you get! NEVER going back.
Always polite and helpful great selection.
