Amazing tour and guides are an understatement! Gianni and Luke were such a blessing and so knowledgeable about kayaking and the ins and outs of the land.Gianni is an expert in many areas and took care of each and every person with very close and careful attention. His lifesaving skills were exceptional and he applied many of his precautionary measures to each guest with extraordinary detail and love. He will keep you entertained and smiling all day, cheeks hurting with his hilarious non stop jokes.Luke saved the day as he towed a family member of ours 10 miles by kayak, due to a medical condition. He is also very knowledgeable in many areas and kept us entertained with all his facts and guiding skills.They even kept us hydrated all day and provided a delicious lunch. The importance of this was essential to everyone coming out of the trip feeling great.We were so thankful to both of them and our drivers for their amazing treatment and all their careful attention and preparation. Hands down one of the best tour guides and services we have come across.

This was our second time booking with Desert Adventures. We did the 3 day guided kayak trip this time. The trip was even better than the first. The office staff communicated often and answered all our questions. They picked us up on the Strip the morning of. After a quick safety brief, we put in just below the Hoover Dam and the adventure began. Big shout out to Luke, our guide. He pulled out all the stops. He was a wealth of information. We did numerous hikes and saw various points of interest. Besides being skilled on the water, Luke is an amazing cook!. The dinners were out of control. I highly recommend Desert Adventures for your next excursion!

We took a Black Canyon kayak adventure with Gianni and had a blast. He has great knowledge of the canyon and a great sense of humor to keep the trip lively. Definitely the break from the Vegas Strip that we needed. We look forward to more adventures next time we are in town.

Gianni Santin was our guide on our Black Canyon River trip. He was so knowledgeable about the area and just a fun, kind and thoughtful guy. It was such a pleasure to get to know him on our trip. He spent time with each paddler to help them be better at kayaking. It was so helpful to have him give us instructions after we were in the water so he could watch each of us and let us know what we needed to improve. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! Went on a one day kayak adventure with a group and it was an amazing and awesome experience!!! This is our 2nd time with this company. Gianni, our kayak tour guide, made this tour so much more fun and memorable - we hiked, checked out hot springs, shared his knowledge of the area, he took group photos of us, plus much more!! Gianni was also very helpful, super friendly, entertaining (made lots of jokes) and easy going. It was my first time in a single kayak and he showed me how to steer and paddle properly. We spent the weekend in Vegas and wanted to do some outdoor activities. We are really lucky to find this place! Our guide Gianni was excellent!!! He was accompanying us the whole day including pick-up and drop-off. He not only guided us through a very fun kayak trip back and forth between Willow Beach and Emerald Cave, but also taught our kids how to look for different types of rocks and talked about the history of the cities along the way. He took a lot of pictures for us on the river and the hiking trail. On our way back, he took us to see the big horn sheep in a park, which made a perfect ending of the day trip.The lunch was healthy. They included fruits and vegetables in addition to sandwich. Of course the chocolate cookies made the kids very happy.It’s worth every penny. We highly recommend Gianni!!

I just got back from a long weekend in Vegas and did the 9 hour Kayaking tour and it was absolutely amazing. Luke was out tour guide and was an amazing source of fun facts. He is a walking encyclopedia that made for outstanding tour. I highly recommend Luke for any of your guide tour needs, you won’t be disappointed. The scenery was stunning with views for miles. This is a must see!!

Gabe our guide was excellent, nice and professional. Pete our driver also very nice and punctual. Enjoyed the trip very much. It was a beautiful day for kayaking. Lunch was very filling, I had an awesome ham and cheese sandwich on thick multigrain bread with lettuce and tomato. Carrots and ranch dressing, apple, and oatmeal raisin cookie. We had plenty of snacks and water and Gatorade throughout the day .equipment great, they let us borrow a dry bag to put our things. Everyone else in the office and with the outfit was very nice and professional. Would definitely use them again

I have planned 5 canoe trips for my Boy Scout troop since 2016 with Desert Adventures and the staff has been very responsive and helpful every time. Their service is excellent and equipment, over 20 canoes, was always clean and in great condition. I highly recommend Desert Adventures to any large group looking for a memorable canoe adventure.

Kayak rental was simple and to the point. The ease of renting and meeting the crew to get our rental went smoothly as well. We had no issues and were able to see what we wanted in the time allotted for our rental. Our price was $75 for five hours.

Great place with good communication. I rented kayaks for a self guided trip down Black Canyon. They handle the permit and correspondence with the Hoover Dam.Reasons for 4 stars: 1) Some other rental places had steering rudders on their kayaks. We were fortunate not to have wind, but it can be an issue. It can make a difference with how long things take. 2) They handed us a paper map which did get wet. I think a laminated map would be better (and I would be willing to pay extra for the option), and I feel some better descriptions of how to find what you are looking for would be helpful. A guided tour would obviously solve that issue, but we wanted some solace and peace.I wouldnt hesitate to use them again though. I thought the price was reasonable, and like I said, communication was excellent, from booking to kayaks in the water. Really great people working here.

My husband and I did the self-guided trip* down Black Canyon Water Trail and Desert Adventures provided us with our kayaks and pick-up/drop off. They staff were very friendly and helpful! I had lots of questions to make sure we were adequately prepared to go down this river without a guide and they answered many of my questions. They had very helpful resources on the website that I utilized. Additionally, Antonio was very helpful in drop off, debriefing us in the important information required for our trip. Antonio was very knowledgeable about the Hoover Dam, so he gave us great historical information as well. Thank you for the great accomodations!!*If you are have not had previous experiences wilderness camping without easily accessible water, food, electricity, internet connection, or toilets and experienced kayaking on your own, I would recommend taking a guided package through them.

The bike tour was absolutely spectacular! The tour guides were very courteous, fun, professional and very knowledgeable about the history, the terrain and native vegetation. The tour was top rate and so worth it! Looking forward to the next tour with them.

Rented one kayak and used one of our own for an overnight trip from Hoover Dam to Willow Beach. This was our first time doing a trip like this and they gave us a few tips that were very helpful to stay cool and safe on the trip. We ended up getting to the pickup spot a few hours before our pick-up time, but their vans and trailers were at capacity. They were really nice about figuring out a way to make room for us so we werent waiting out in the sun for the next shuttle.

My wife and I rented 2 kayaks from Desert Adventures for a self guided trip down the Black Canyon on June 7th. Everyone here is absolutely amazing! We received a call from Alexis at Desert Adventures the day before our reservation warning us of 20+mph head winds the next day. We opted to keep our reservations. Antonio was our driver to the drop off location at Hoover dam and he provided us with a wealth of information and was a pleasure to talk with. The view driving down to the dam is incredible and we were lucky enough to encounter a group of male big horn sheep. The paddle down the river was absolutely stunning! We stopped at the Sauna Cave, Gold Strike Canyon, Lone Palm Canyon, Boy Scout Canyon and checked out other points of interest along the way. The constant head winds began around 9am at around 20-25mph. We arrived at Arizona hot springs around 11am. After a short hike and some lunch we headed to Emerald Cave. After exploring in and around Emerald Cave we paddled to Willow Beach arriving at 3:50. Our driver Gabriel was waiting for us and was surprised to see us arriving “early” as he told us winds were a sustained 25+mph up river all day. Both our drivers Antonio and Gabriel were awesome to talk with and were very fun, informative, and professional! I will definitely use Desert Adventures again in the future! Great adventure provided by a great company! Thank you Desert Adventures! Keep up the great work!

Then here you are.Starting a solo three day Black Canyon trip as your first overnight with a kayak is a bit nerve racking. Cool and collected staff kept my trepidation at bay with the pullout and return trip pleasant and informativeAs I was solo, provided my own kayak, and have a fishing license the cost was beyond reasonable....PLEASE DONT FORGET TO TIP THE STAFF! Seriously if youre going to risk your life in a pandemic/epidemic so I can get a burger or go on a boat trip Im going to give you everything I possibly canThe closest thing to the emotional overload I can compare this trip to would be when I flew a glider over the Napa California area.Walt Whitman couldnt accurately describe this experience, the language doesnt existAnsel Addams couldnt depict the imaginary as no camera exists that can capture the complexity of image

If you are in this area as a tourist this is the place to go for a guided tour. Me and my friend went for the Colorado kayak trip and it was absolutely amazing. Our guide David was the best. A real joy to be around all day, very knowledgeable, made the trip so much fun. So chill and relaxed, making sure to point out interesting things, not just on the river but on the shuttle home. Took photos of me and my friend together, to make sure we got the best experience. And the office staff is great as well, booking was a breeze. And the lunch they provide, top notch. I could go on and on.Honestly had no complaints about the whole experience. Will definitely come back once we are in Vegas again!

Fun, adventure in a world all unto its own!

Wife and I were guided from the Hoover Dam by Gianni. Such a trasformitive trip. His knowledge of the land and of life added so much value to our time. I look forward to bringing other family members on this same trip. Even our driver, Neil, was a pleasure to meet, eneded up we have some good friends in common. They obviously love their jobs and their banter helped start the day off with a lightheartedness that continued thru the trip.

This company is amazing! We launched from the Hoover Dam on 6/20 for what was supposed to be an overnight camping trip up to Willow Beach. The heat wave hitting Vegas right now has temps near 120 and we were worried about how we would sleep. We decided to go directly to Willow Beach and see if there was any way we could get picked up a day early. Despite a totally full load of people and kayaks, Kristen managed to get our gear packed into creative spaces and fit our 2 kayaks on to the haul. She went above and beyond normal customer service to make sure we didn’t have to sleep in the heat. We were not on the schedule to get picked up until 4 pm the next day and she got us in an air conditioned truck by 4 pm the day before. Also, an important side note is that the entire time they were trying to figure out what to do with is, they were super pleasant and we never felt like a burden- that meant the world to me. I can’t wait to come back and use this company again (during cooler days) to do my overnight! Thanks Kristin and THANK YOU Desert Adventures for saving my bucket list adventure!

We used Desert Adventures livery service for our Canoe trip down the Black Canyon National Water trail. They shuttled our canoe to Hoover Dam and picked us up at Willow Beach the next day about 11 miles down river. The drivers were on time, friendly, and professional. We had a surreal experience on the Water Trail. Whether you rent a canoe or kayak for a self guided trip or use one of the awesome guides we met along the river (shout-out to Sarah and Gabe!) this is truly awe inspiring to the same degree as Zion National Park and the Grand Canyon, and even more accessible. From the initial view of the Hoover Dam, the humbling high canyon walls surrounding you, the crystal clear emerald waters of the Colorado below the Dam, the sandy beaches along the side of the river, and the countless slot canyon hikes and massive series of hot springs, it’s hard to believe that this desert oasis exists only a short drive from Las Vegas.

The service is awesome to get a kayak dropped off at the base of the Hoover Dam. Then they picked us up and took is back to the car, down river. Great customer service!

I really wanted to get out and go hiking but its hard traveling alone. This was a very fun, relaxing experience. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable. They even provide tasty lunches. I had a wonderful day, it could not possibly have been improved in any way.

We did the 2 day canyon kayak with Brian as our guide and it was over the top in all possible ways. An easy pick up and drop off from Vegas. All gear ready, clean and in great condition.On the river we explored SO MUCH...and Brian had so much entertaining knowledge to share about every hike, natural formation and historic detail. It was incredible and made the experience so much richer.In addition to being a super guide, he is also a fantastic host. Making sure we were comfortable and having fun all the time. He makes a mean chicken dinner and then breakfast out there. And he carefully made all sorts of good celiac friendly food for me.And have no fear, whatever you run into he is prepared to tackle it. After my shoe came apart hiking he fashioned me a new one, held together better than the old.We saw so much more than expected. Loved the hiking and paddling. And when we didnt get a glimpse of the mountain sheep we were hoping to, Brian took us to a special park on our way back to Vegas where we got to see them! No experience lost at all.Will come back and see these guys again.

I went on a road trip to various national parks with my girlfriend for about a week and we decided to rent camping gear from Desert Adventures. While the staff were very friendly and helpful most of the camping gear we rented was very poor. First off the sleeping bag was gross, however the staff were understanding and gave us a refund for it. Secondly most of the gear can be bought for a cheaper price at Walmart (sleeping bag, chairs, cooler, etc.). The stove was a useful rental. To be fair desert adventures is probably more for renting kayaks and other related things than camping gear and will serve you better in that regard.

We took the day trip on the Colorado river. August 29, 2019. The river was beautiful and Tom our guide was nice. Unfortunately we had a group of 8 women in the group that made it very difficult to enjoy our trip. The guide the entire time was interested in the girls and rounding them up that we really weren’t guided or given much information. At one point they were smoking weed and our guide allowed this and there behavior. We felt very much outside of the group and very disappointed with the entire day. For how much this trip cost which is $400 for two people it was not worth it. If I had to recommend you should rent your own kayaks from willow beach harbor and make a day out of it. You can do everything they offer on this trip on your own. At a much cheaper rate. Very disappointing

Very Helpful! Took the time to teach and correct me being a first time kayak owner. Had the racks in backwards, workers there took the time to undo and secure the racks as should be without charge or embarrassment 👏 Im a Happy Camper . Will be returning to Desert Adventures for future shopping

I recently went on the Black Canyon trip, and it was the best day ever! The day was organized, and the guide (Mahan) was absolutely incredible! I would happily recommend this trip to anyone in the Vegas area as it was the highlight of my vacation. They had lunch catered by a local diner (great lunch!), and had plenty of snacks and water to supplement the rest of the trip. In addition, the views on the river were absolutely spectacular. I had such a positive experience with the tour and the company, and if I am ever in the area again, I would happily sign up for more trips!

If you’re thinking about kayaking in the area this is where you want to be! I went in October and the staff was super friendly, knowledgeable of the area, and everything was very reasonably priced. I rented a kayak for lake mead (which was beautiful!) and while returning the kayak our guide told us exactly where to see some big horn sheep that had wandered into a local neighborhood! Such an incredible experience overall that I wouldn’t have gotten anywhere else!!

Desert Adventures are real pros. They really know what they are doing! We did the full day black canyon kayak that starts at Hoover (Boulder) dam. It was a very active trip. We were catered to from the minute we met all the way to our final drop off at the end of the day. We felt like VIPs! Matthew is the most amazing guide we have ever seen! He knows Black Canyon and Lake Mojave, including the history, animals and plants. He strived to get everyone in our group to personally experience the unique natural features of the area through brief stops and short hikes. So much to see and do! He came very well prepared with flashlights for cave exploration and many small items that made the trip very special. We want to come back and see how the tour changes outside of monsoon season. We will definitely be booking this trip again with Desert Adventures!

I went on a kayaking tour with Desert Adventures this past weekend and all I can say is WOW. Their customer service is something every company needs to take a lesson from. Jessica in their office took my last minute conundrum in stride and really helped me out (another company had screwed me over). The experience was so beautiful and worth every penny, but what made it even more amazing was our tour guide Reid! Very knowledgeable, entertaining, and chill guy which made the trip perfect. I went on a Tuesday, so I didnt have to worry about a lot of people, but they did load and unload the kayaks for us in reference to the other reviews here. Even the lunch was delicious! This company advertises used Kayaks with a price listed ....I called them to ask about the kayaks...... they said yes we are selling the old inventory.. come on down and check us out! I get down there and the Kayak they had advertised for $499.00 when I got there and said Im looking at the Jackson listed for $499.00.... then he leaves comes back and says no its $900.00 ! Thats just shady! Avoid buying from them unless you like sticker shock! Thats just wrong! I guess you just cant trust anyone anymore.

No idea what company has the lowest rates. My buddy booked this tour. It was well run and good for anyone with average physical capabilities. Some companies have different types of vessels for tours. Desert Adventures has great kayaks. Thats what you want.Buy water shoes in advance if you plan to do this. Youll need them.

We did the Black Canyon trip from the Hoover Dam (non-guided). All aspects of the trip were excellent. The staff at both the drop-off and pick-up were extremely helpful and friendly. We did have to make a change in the day of our trip and although we lost our initial permit fee (this is to the park service, not the outfitter) Desert Adventures was more than willing to work with us on their end and make the change.You have plenty of time to make the trip, although for context we had a day with no wind. We hiked up Boy Scout Canyon (lots of fun) and took our time at the hot springs and had no issues making it to the take out with plenty of time. Keep an eye out for Big Horn sheep.I would highly recommend this trip as well as the folks at Desert Adventures. Its a great way to take a break from the Strip while youre in Las Vegas.

This was an amazing bike tour. Our guide was awesome. This was our first stop on our week long vacation in the Southwest and coming from WV we were totally unprepared for the heat. Our guide was very understanding and helpful during our struggles. LolThe views were amazing, and had we just went to look at everything ourselves we wouldnt have got to experience half of it. We recommend this to anyone looking for a fun way to see Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam.Thank you so much to the staff for the wonderful tour. We cant say enough how awesome it was.

I did not think they were overpriced. We rented kayaks and camped at willow beach the night before. The information they gave me got a little confused. The person on the phone told me to meet at 6:30 am but emailed me instructions saying to meet on the beach at 8am. We arrived on the beach and the guy with our kayaks had been waiting since 6:30 but was super nice about it. He was great with his instructions and told us all the cool things to see and what we could make it to with the time we had. The Black Canyon area was absolutely beautiful. We saw 3 big horn sheep including one kid sheep. Had a great time. If I were to do it again Id put in at the Hoover Dam. That way we could have made it to all the stops along the way and would have been going downstream the whole time.

Awesome guides. Theyre very easy to hang around with. They arent overly obnoxious or arrogant like some other guides. The jokes are a little cheesy but if that doesnt bother you then youre okay. The trips are really good ones. We did the Colorado river from Hoover Dam all the way down to Willow Beach. It was an awesome trip for both beginners and intermediate level adventurers. We didnt use the guides we just rented the stuff. But they did all the shuttling so that was nice. To have then drop you off at Hoover Dam you have to pay for a permit since thats federal land. Also they check your IDs to make sure youre not a terrorist or anything. But if you just wanna come up from Willow beach thats free.

The guide was friendly and knowledgeable, but the experience was marred by two things.First, the duration of the trip was shorter than we expected, given the price. The website says approx 4-5h kayaking - we estimated that it took just under 4h (but this time includes a hiking break and a lunch break).Second, I am tall and have large feet, and even though I was required to send my measurements well in advance, my assigned kayak was too small for me. Initially I was told this was normal, but later it was revealed that there were not enough large kayaks to go around, and thats why I had received a smaller one. It was hard to enjoy the beautiful scenery whilst my legs and knees were in constant discomfort, and since the issue was avoidable, I felt very disappointed.I would recommend seeing the black canyon, but think twice about using this company.

Shuttle service to and from hotel was great, water and bathroom breaks are offered for our Hoover Dam bike tour, Stunning views. Neil, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable and professional. Absolutely bringing the kids back next time for a kayak trip!

One of my favorite trips- self guided tour down the Co river. Desert Adventures was awesome, full of info, really helpful and organized. Reed, our driver, was the best: informative and fun and cute! ;)

We had the pleasure of using your service jan 4th. We had an AMAZING time. We will be back again for more fun adventures. We did a guided tour for the 12 mile kayaking trip. The weather was perfect and the water was smooth as glass. The view was beautiful and our guide was the best! Antonio was very knowledgeable about the area. He was able to discuss wildlife, Hoover dam, all about the Colorado river and so much more. We enjoyed hiking up to the hot springs and getting the chance to go swimming.

I got the Kayaking Transport tour:PROS:Stuff were on time, very friendly and informative.CONS: (Reason why I gave a Low start raiting)Equipment is really old and unsafe.I had a Bend kayaking which made my padeling very slow and I couldnt enjoy the trip as much. I got to the pick up point really late because of this reason. ( Got Charge $ for late pick up)I wish they will care more about the equipment and safety of the people renting the Kayaks.

My two boys and I went kayaking in HNL(Kailua), we had a blast, this time we decided to try kayaking on the colorado river. This time the wife decided to go with us, at first she was not too happy, just because she was not a good swimmer. At the day of kayaking JOE (the equipment Manager) picked us up at the (ARIA) hotel, everyone was excited except the wife. Joe mentioned that we were the only group that day, so the time is on us, however we had company that showed from Vienna austria that i told Joe that we may cut it short, and his was ok with, so we left the dock just about 10:30, as we start kayaking the boys struggling pedaling, and he stayed with them to show the proper way of pedaling, halfway to emerald cove, Joe suggested if it is ok for us to continue on and stopping on certain stop, and we will have a lunch on the way back to the hotel, and all of us agree, at the end of the kayaking it was unforgettable, on the way back to boulder he even stop, to show us the big horn. Joe was so professional and friendly, that alone i will never hesitate to do it again with them, he made it work to where we can meet our family from Vienna later that same afternoon, and tailored the tour to our pace. To close it up no regrets whatsoever, love this place and keep up the good work, thank you Joe and the rest of the group

This company is mediocre. They lack in customer service. They picked my group up on Saturday morning and dropped us off at the dam with our boats. We carried our own gear and our own boats. On Sunday, when they picked us up, they told us that we had to wait at least an hour before returning to the hotel parking lot. We had to wait for other kyackers to return and then wait for the boats to be packed onto the trailers and washed. This wasted 1.5 hours that we could have spent traveling back to our home cities. A better company would have set the boats up for us in advance. A better company would have had a shuttle waiting to pick us up on Sunday with a separate truck to pick up the boats. The trip itself was wonderful. Its beautiful. But that has nothing to do with the kyack rental company. They do what is convenient to them, not what is convenient to the customers .

I have used Desert Adventures twice in the past years kayaking down black canyon with just doing the launch and loved it. June 10th three of us girls where picked up to launch to go down the river again. We were instructed the day before upon confirmation of our trip that there will be slight winds. The morning we were picked up we where again told the winds where about 25 miles. We hit 50 mile hour winds, it took 3 to 4 hours to get to 4 mile markers before we had to be rescued. Now the boaters where told in the morning at willow beach about the winds from the rangers. Why doesnt Desert Adventures call in the morning to the ranger station and ask about the weather conditions. Worst experience ever and very very very dangerous. We did not experience anything but fight for our lives. Not to mention other kayakers had to be rescued as well. Its not about the money its about the safety. Thank you.

It was once in a lifetime type experience in the fact that im so out of shape i will never do it again lol

JUST FINISHED A 1 DAY DOWN COLORADO RIVER 7/18/16 THE MORNING GUY WAS AWESOME AND THE RIVER TRIP AMAZING AND COLOSSAL.THE WEATHER AFFECTED THE ARRIVAL OF PICK UP AND DESERT ADVENTURE STAFF KINDLY WAITED AND STAY APPROPRIATE WITH OUR DELAY. THE GIRLS IN THE CANOO REALLY THANK YOU ALL !

Just completed an overnight kayaking trip in the black canyon (ringbolt run) and it was superb. The guide was amazing, gear was first class, food was plenty, organization great and even the weather was a 10. I definitely recommend both the trip and the company.Ps. The little camping shop has everything one needs for the trip. I waisted my time going to bass pro the night before.

I did the overnight ringbolt run in early March 2015, and it was the highlight of my first trip to the US. I cant recommend this company enough. The guide/s had a great energy and really tailor the adventure to what you want so you get a unique groovy experience.
