Love this place. Neighbourhood store so prices are slightly higher than cheaper stop and shops. Veggie selections are great for greens but otherwise only popular American veggies. Great to get party condiments and accessories. Fairly easy to find parking for 15-20 mins on Columbus but may not be easy on Fri and sat nights (as parking is filed up with restaurant folks).
Its convenient and prices are less expensive than a convenient store. However, the staff is a bunch of desperate men. One of them asked me if I had a boyfriend. Another gave me grief for not saying hello to him on the street as if we know each other. (What a creep.) Half of them dont like to bag groceries. I used to go here all the time because its convenient, but the men give me anxiety, so now, Id rather walk farther to Whole Foods or CVS to get what I need just to avoid the borderline harassment while grocery shopping. 🙄 So, if youre a guy, this store will do because theyll leave you alone, but if youre a young, female BIPOC, dont even bother.
Posted hours are false. Everything is overpriced and the service is awful. I’ve bought products that turned out to be coated in mold, I’m never going back to this embarrassment of a store ever again.
I get Ethiopian and Eritrean foods here. Its very clean. Lots ofreally good fresh frit. I suggest feeling in to see what they have that you might like. I enjoy the store. Its like a mini deli.
This grocery store is very stylish against the background of the rest, it is clear that they put their soul into it. Regarding the assortment, everything you need is here, and what a beautiful display of goods here. Overall, I really liked this store, very nice.
I like the store good stuff but the bald guy who is cashier in the morning he’s so lazy! Everything you ask he answer “Take a look yourself should be there” and he don’t even move to help also he hate to give bags! I usually buy more than 4 items sure I need a bag
Prices are not posted for most store items. Predatory practice, results in an unpleasant surprise at checkout.
Fresh finds and wonderful people.
I love fresh fruits so much that for me it is a tragedy if they are not. This store is always the freshest fruits and vegetables, which is why I drop by every day.
Its not bad, albeit expensive for meat and cheese here. They sell products from nicer spice vendors for reasonable prices, though they come in silly containers. I stained my hands yellow the other day. The beef I grabbed already appeared a little old when I copped it and it surely turned brown quickly, but no worries. Store of friendly people that maximizes the space it has to work with.
Extremely helpful to have in the neighborhood!
I love this market. The prices are reasonable for being a corner market in an expensive neighborhood. I get anything from firewood to cold cuts here and the owners and workers are great, hardworking people.
Beautiful, clean, and well-organized store! They have everything!
Outrageously expensive overall. Consistently treated rudely by the guy at the deli when asking for something listed on their menu but that they are apparently out of or dont sell anymore (has happened every time Ive been there). Like I should have known... this place is very conveniently located to where I live but I will not be going back no matter what.
Its fine- its got the basics; not good for a big shopping trip but fine for picking up odds and ends to complete dinner. convenient location for those on Columbus Avenue
Not a piece of injera left, no worries, this shop carries this yummy bread and more! Check it out!
This is a place that was dedicated to African food and spices when I first visited it over 10 years ago. The shelves were packed with all kinds of spices and exotic goods from Ethiopia and other parts of Africa. Now fast forward to the present and this is a very clean grocery store that carries a few Ethiopian spices, fresh injira bread and regular produce. I go the primarily for the injira bread!
Best neighborhood market in town. They have everything you need in a pinch and then some. Proprietors are super nice and have owned and operated for 20+ years. A real gem in the neighborhood.
Wonderful people
Chees, Salami and bread, good products👌
Some of the best shopkeepers in the city remind me of the way the neighborhood used to be
Very very friendly good hours being an early bird I love I can go at 6 a.m. and get cilantro for my egg white omelette silly what important I love the South End Food Emporium great customer service very friendly very clean and I love my word very Swanky their Swanky love them love them
I must say in this grocery I didnt find what I was looking for, they have lots of fruits, vegetables and cooked food, but not so fresh in my opinion.Staff is not the most friendly one, but its ok. I think Im not going to come back here as it didnt meet my expectations
Good range. Prices not present on lots of items so it was surprisingly expensive on payment.
For years ive gone here for subs made by great guy Bernard. The owner of this establishment made the sub 1day was not correct (hots&raw onionsFORGOT LETTUCE) this 3rd time but sub so good no biggie right! WRONG the owner said you complain you dont come back i dont care my store my rules you no come backMISS U BERNARD SUCH YUMMY SUBS..
Great staff and great prices.
Great neighborhood convenience store and incredibly nice people.
Only place I can find berbere in the Boston area.
Found what I was looking for (berbere spice/rad al hanout) but the selections are limited. Then injira bread can also be found here so that was a highlight.
Good for a quick groceries shop. A little bit expensive, but you know, its Boston.
Good Injera.
Ethiopian run restaurant. Good place for injera and Ethiopian spices
Great neighborhood market. Nice produce and essentials.
I go there specifically for injera and other Ethiopian food when Im in Boston. Very helpful employees and good quality food!
Good store to get customer service and good stuff
Used to be a dirty corner store. They renovated, is pretty nice now.
The owner and the cashier seem nice (emphasis on seem), but the white/Italian?guy that works there seems racist, within 5 minutes of browsing into the store, he kept hounding me “ what do you need, what do you need?” in a rude way, Again and again even though there are other white customers in the store he didn’t bother with this question, I’m Ethiopian and wanted to get Injera, I’m not their target demographic I guess.
Great food and produce best sandwiches in Boston
INJERA AND BERBERE SPICE
I needed some sumac and they had it. Aint nothing wrong with this place.
Lots of selection for a smallish store, staff has been very friendly every time Ive gone.
Place is experienced.
Too expensive. Too much reliance on boars head and not enough on local or variety.
Found a cockroach in my sub ....
