Cute little donut shop. We tried the “everything bagel” donut (yep, it is still a donut). It is sort of a sweet but mostly savory donut filled with cream cheese. Pretty good. We also tried the “blackbird” which was their version of the old fashioned donut. It was ok. The coffee is solid. They even offer oat milk at no extra cost.
Absolutely delicious! My personal favorite was the cherry pie Bismarck. The everything bagel drew me in, but the Bismark had me going back for a second box. The vegan Ube was above and beyond any expectation I had. Everything was delicious and the staff was extremely friendly and worked through the line with speed while also giving every customer the attention they deserved.
If I can give a negative 5 stars I would, I was really disappointed with the donuts except the everything bagel donut was okay. Just the whole Donuts looked so good but tasted so blend and tasteless. Also, its not my first time having Donuts I am a donut lover, I go all over New York and Jersey just to try the best donuts but this place I never expected it to be like this to be honest. I thought it would be one of the best places I will go to expecting all the people hyping it like its the best place in Boston especially with the prices they are charging people. although, the employees there are so sweet and polite.
Delicious donuts and fast service! this place is amazing, i got the peach (summer seasonal) and chocolate glaze donut. the chocolate donut was to die for i could eat 20 and i’m not a big “cakey” donut person. it was a perfectly flakey texture like an oreo cake almost. 10/10 would definitely recommend this place.
Extremely good donuts, fast line and great variety. The everything donut with cream cheese was extremely good and the vanilla glazed was better than any donut I’ve had before. The shop is small but since the line moves fast it’s not a problem. I will definitely come here again as soon as I can to try the other options on the menu.
5 years ago my fiance was cut off by a delivery driver at Blackbird Donuts. Since then he had refused to try them. Today was the day I finally convinced him to give them a taste. And let me tell you, he holds no grudge against them anymore. They were amazing and possibly our #1 doughnut in Boston. Word if caution, the filled donuts are to be handled with caution. They put a ton of filling inside and they got a little messy, but well worth it. The chocolate glazed was my favorite, cake donut but it melted in your mouth and a very good chocolate flavor. We also had the seasonal pomegranate which a nice refreshing tart flavor. Coconut Chai was equally as good with the chai filling bring subtle and not taking away from the coconut. But the 5 spice fig donut. O my way this incredible. On my third bite the jelly attacked me and ended up in my hair and in my pants. But it was still amazing. I could eat the filling alone for breakfast every day, wish they sold it separately! Highly recommend.
Was visiting Boston for the first time and purchased a Boston Cream donut and a coffee. The combination was so delicious I almost Boston Creamed my pants!
Went in and tried the Sallys sandwich..I got the Grilled cheese w/bacon..it was very delicious and huge which I enjoyed how a sandwich should be and not skimpy..I will definitely be trying their other sandwiches in the future..also the renovation on the store looks beautiful, nice and spacious and clean
Im upset I didnt get more. So yummy & loved the Boston creme.
I tried these donuts for the first time this morning. I was very disappointed. They all taste the same. Kind of a chalky taste. Not worth $3.25 each. Go to Kanes Donuts . Much better!
Had an everything donut. Like an everything bagel with cream cheese. Surprisingly good.
Donuts were the best I have ever had! The Boston creme inside was light and you could taste the vanilla. The everything bagel wasnt sweet and had real cream cheese. The balance in the ingredients made it worth the trip!
Good donuts good service nice little place to go to while walking around Boston
Literally the most mediocre donuts on earth. We tried a handful of different kinds - none had much taste. You’re better off at Dunkin or any convenience store.
Pretty sure Im the master of donuts by now. Literally, my life revolves around donuts. No joke. I was told by a buddy of mine that this place has fantastic donuts, but it must be an east coast thing. I was not impressed with my donut. I had the Passion Fruit Old Fashioned. Not a great flavor. We went late in the day, so there wasnt a whole lot to choose from. I didnt finish mine. My buddy got the glazed chocolate one and that was a bit better. However, the donut was a bit too doughy for me. I understand that it may have been sitting out for the most part of the day since we went so late. I know they have plenty of other flavors, but the 2 donuts that I tried did not have me weak in the knees. Also a bit pricy for these donuts. Came out to $7.42 for 2. I live in LA, where you can find donut shops in nearly every corner. Ive had some amazing $.75 donuts, and some incredible $3-5 donuts. When theyre good, its worth the price. This wasnt. Just saying.
Fantastic freshly made doughnuts! The Boston Creme Pie is not to be missed. The coffee leaves much to be desired, but whatyagonnado.
Two words: VEGAN DONUTS.The vegan donuts are AMAZING. Honestly, they should just stop making non-vegan donuts. They switch up the flavors for the vegan donuts pretty frequently, which is cool. My kids love them, btw.
Doughnuts that are carefully curated and baked with love. One of the best Boston cream Doughnuts around! Their namesake Blackbird Doughnut is a keeper too. Love em all really! Sallys fried chicken sandwich is killer as well!
I’d been wanting to try Blackbird for a few years now after constantly seeing John Mayer’s “best doughnuts in the world” instagram stories.I can’t comment on the shop or in store experience (have heard it can be quite crowded at times) as a friend picked up a few donuts for us during lunch. We ended up going with the everything bagel doughnut, the winter citrus, and a bag of the cinnamon sugar minis.Despite being the “signature” the everything bagel truly is unique. It has the spongy brioche consistency of a great doughnut paired with the toasted garlic, onion, sesame, poppy seeds and cream cheese of an everything bagel. If you’re looking for something sweet, it’s not for you, but in a savory mood, I really enjoyed it.Will definitely be back in the future to try more flavors!
Boston Creme and Apple Cider doughnuts were amazing
The donuts are great and the people are really friendly. Theyre so sweet to my 4 year old who likes to oggle donuts and place her own order. That said that have left something off my last two orders and theres no way to contact you guys about it (the phone number leads to a phone tree for 4 restaurants, then to blackbird and then to a voice mailbox where theres no response.)
Good doughnuts, worth trying once.
Delicious doughnuts which are incredibly moist, even the next day. They usually have a line so keep that in mind when planning a visit.
Wildly overpriced, mediocre donuts. I got a half dozen donuts and a coffee for $30 and it was all pretty blah.
One of my favorite donut spots in Boston. The chocolate chip cookie donut is THE BEST
Tasty doughnuts, especially as a pit stop on a nice brisk bike ride through the city. Great accompanied with a steaming hot cup of coffee.
Came here for the first time last week. Very happy with what I got! Their cold brew was very fresh, I had a slice of their pie and loved how moist it was. Full of flavor! If youre in the back Bay South end area definitely check this place out!
Had their Gallows breakfast sandwich. The price I paid was too little to have the food of the gods enter my mortal orifice. Unfortunately their frozen pink lemonade machine was down and the donuts were just ok.
Got the Blueberry cake - delicious!
I’m usually not a fan of sweets, but when you have a craving you have a craving. These donuts were creative and weren’t so sweet I felt like I was actively decaying my teeth. Already been there twice! Would definitely recommend!!
After trying some amazing doughnuts in providence, RI, I think I’m a little spoiled. Compared to other craft donuts I’ve had, I was a little underwhelmed by blackbirds. A little small for the price, and not as many innovative flavors. I think we got to try some of the more creative ones though- everything bagel and cocoa cranberry. The everything bagel donut surprisingly worked! Filled with some type of savory sour cream, it was quite tasty. Cranberry cocoa also paired nicely together but nothing id rave about. One other qualm was the size of the store front. I was hoping for a small cafe table or even standing counter to enjoy the donuts at. Keep in mind if you go during the colder months you may be eating them on the bench outside!
The best donuts Ive ever enjoyed. Most donuts are overly sugary and just hurt to eat. Not here. Blackbird does it right. Of course, the Boston Cream donut is a staple and the king of donuts. The Everything donut is an incredibly soft blanket of goodness surrounding the cream cheese inner layer. Ill never look at donuts the same.
I love a good donut, so wanted to try these guys since Id heard so much about them and how good their donuts are. To be honest, theyre not my favourite. As much as I wanted to love these, they were only average in my opinion. There is a good selection and they apparently serve good coffee (I dont drink coffee, so I cant be sure how good that is), but the donuts certainly werent anything to write home about.Having said that, the store itself is sweet; small but sweet — there’s nowhere inside to even sit. They make everything fresh and like I said above, theres a good variety that changes often. If youre craving a donut, youll scratch your itch here, but I feel there are better tasting donuts elsewhere (just being honest).
Very delicious donuts! Its worth trying every donut they offer.
Aside from having the most delicious cake donuts and some of the most exciting donut flavors (cannoli, scallion pancake, fig and honey), Blackbird is run by people who truly value and give back to the community and make our neighborhood a more positive corner of the world. Blackbird is a MUST if youre in the area, and if you arent, make a point to be because you wont be disappointed. Plus, youll be supporting good people, positive vibes, and happy bellies!
Doughnuts done right - and spelled right! ;) Interesting rotating varieties; I like that there always seems to be an interesting fruit one.- Mimis Cake Tour
Really, really delicious!
Loved it! I had the drak chocolate ginger. It was delicious. Found a parking spot right out front on a Saturday.
Looking for a wonderful departure from the boring and stale? (Yeah, you know I’m talking about you, Dunkin’!) While the doughnut selection is small, every donut is a delight, whether the cakey and light and fluffy variety. The donut sizes are only for the stout of stomach, and while you’ll pay a hefty price for each donut (about $3.00), every cent is worth the guilty bite of doughnut heaven. After tasting a Blackbird Doughnut, you’ll know, “Once you go black(bird), you never go back.” Go. Treat yourself!
Overhyped and overpriced. Not bad but wouldn’t go out of my way to get them. I tried the Blackbird, Irish Soda, and the Lemon Curd. The Lemon Curd was most okay one.
Descent donuts, a bit overpriced for the quality. Regardless of flavors, they taste almost the same and the cream inside Boston cream is not the best.
I got the Valentine’s Day naughty doughnuts and they were ok. The cream filled one was by far the best tasting. The others were on the bland side and the decorations were definitely lacking. The messages on 2 of the doughnuts were hard to read and looked rushed. Not much better than Dunkin’ Donuts honestly.
Easy to miss if youre not looking for it, Blackbird is a hole in the wall with quality donuts. The dough leans less pastry and more bread-like, which I prefer. If youre looking for a pleasant departure from Krispy Kreme, Duck Donuts, or Dunkin, definitely make the stop.
Had a Boston Cream and Chocolate Old Fashioned. Some of the best doughnuts we ever had. Better than most in NYC where we live.
Everything bagel doughnut is tasty and unique, my favorite would have to be the vanilla glaze 🍩
Cute little donut shop. The donuts were phenomenal and reasonably price for what you’re getting. I believe they’re about 350 each
Best doughnuts in Boston by far.!! I am obsessed with all cake doughnuts fluffy taste. They have a seasonal and new flavors ( worth trying)
This is a hidden gem. A must visit place. Staff was super friendly!
