Do not waste your time going in to sell at this place. They will just pick out one thing from your big bag of branded, new or hardly used clothes (to make it look like they are serious about buying). They will make you sign up for an appointment, take your details, crumple up your neatly folded clothes while pretending to look at your bag and in short, waste a lot of your time. It’s better to just donate your clothes to other places instead!

Came out of here with a nice shirt, and happy about it. But... Yall need to rethink your pricing. Its ridiculous sometimes. I passed by a mens large plain black t-shirt that was 45$, and the collar had little cuts in it like someone got creative with their scissors. 2nd hand scissor cut plain. 45$. And then... A mens large white t-shirt with a graphic on it. 35$. But.. the collar was stained brownish from someones sweat. Like really?

The worst experience I have ever had in a thrift shop! The lady who was supposed to select my clothes did not even go through all of them… I had good quality branded clothes, many with tags! Then she asked me if I wanted to donate them to the store! Seriously?! I had a look around and the prices are unreasonable for the low quality of their products. Nothing worth to buy… I should have guessed it from the cheap/no style of the staff. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!

Most of the staff here is amazing but there is an employee with short orange hair who went out of her way to belittle me just for asking a question.Maybe she was having a bad day but she projected it out on me and ruined my day. Wow, what a let down! The guys going though my 8 bags of stuff, could care less about the items! Clearly didn’t know good inventory! I had lululemon, Toms, Nike, loft, Marc Jacobs, and many more new with tags or verrrrry gently used! They couldn’t be bothered looking at the stuff, their a/c wasn’t working and they seemed hot and bothered, about bringing in new inventory! They only took, landsend tote and gap puffer coat of course new with tags!So disappointed!

Unfortunately every time I visit Buffalo exchange, they almost never take any of the clothes/accessories that I’m willing to let go of. The super pickiness has deterred me from ever going to another Buffalo exchange. I always used to bring new things with tags/unworn and they always tell me the same lame excuses that either it’s not in season or not in style to be in the store even when I’ve brought items that can be worn throughout all seasons or those current seasons. If any items have the luck to be chosen, it’s at a super low cost that’s almost close to nothing. Not worth it. Honestly, I’ll stick to plato’s closet because they are more realistic with selling your things or goodwill/boomerang when your ready to just let them go without gaining value but more of a peace of mind.

First a guy answer and ask for my info. Put me on hold for 10 min and then a female came on the phone asking How can she help me, I explained that I was already on the line with someone and that I was waiting to get the status of my drop off. She didnt even ask me for my name. But immediately said that They didnt take the clothes and it was donated to charity 1. If she didnt ask for my name how does she knows which one was my drop off. 2. Because she didnt ask for my name and had an answer right of way, it is clear that this was robbery and discrimination at its highest. Dont recommend at all. Don’t bother trying to sell your old stuff here. They only buy new and like new high quality items. I once saw a woman walk out with a check for $128 but she had such beautiful and expensive things to sell. Some with the original price tags in them. They will be gracious to most everybody, even if they buy very little or nothing at all. My guess is that they sell some of the nicest items on eBay or to other stores. The staff are great and super friendly. One worker got upon a ladder to take a yellow top of a mannequin that I purchased for an aquaintance. It only cost $6.50. Once I bought a coach wallet there in the original box and paper for only $25. This is the perfect kind of store for Allston. It is fun, funky, with a great vibe. I hope that it remains there for decades to come.

Brought in clothing that was brand new or barely worn as well as shoes. The clerk quickly sorted through my things and reminded me they only accept whats good for fall fashion (which most of the garments were and I was mindful of). I was fine with them not being selected (which I was prepared for) it was the snooty and condescending tone of the girl in a shapeless button down that I didnt see fit for the transaction. She also added an unnecessary comment that they only accept clothing from the past 15 years (they were purchased a year ago!). About half of the things I brought in had great potential to be bought by locals. Right after I just took my things to the Goodwill down commonwealth. Save yourself the time and avoid this excuse for consignment shop.

Review №51

The only thing decent about this place is where it’s located ( thats what the 1 star is for). The out of touch staff that I have observed tohave no fashion awareness but to the Sub culture of their own make discriminating calls on whats re-sellable is very puzzling. I watched folks buy back every piece of clothing from individuals whom they seemed to have life in common with, while offering genuine conversation and a reasonable monetary exchange for each item (pertaining to store rules & practices). Contrastingly, I noticed other individuals getting offered unreasonable monetary exchange for hot button items and current trend, at times nothing at all. Often times the items are the same brand and style the store just accepted from a previous customer. As I noticed a similar item on the shelf, i overheard the girl at the register tell someone “these are simply not in”. The exchange with customer was cold, rigid and dismissive as if just to quickly move them along. The store clerk had a very oh well attitude when such observations were brought to her attention.I simply thought the store buying back items was about fashion only and not about how the buyers in the store feel about individuals personally.I have had noticed this for several years and always relinquished these observations as being partial to my experience, until i heard staffers of a competing thrift store in an entirely different town speaking overwhelmingly poorly about this Boston buffalo exchange. The staffers spoke about how the buffalo exchange staff in the store behaved, how they inconsistently appraise items, it was exactly how i have seen and experienced. I almost chimed in and interjected with my own poor experiences with them. Not sure if i was excited because i knew i wasnt crazy or that i wasnt alone in receiving in equable treatment. The arbitrary way in which they accept or deny buying back items should be done away with, a reliable system should be put in place. You never know who is watching with a close eye and what practices have created a reputation that is negatively proceeding.

I dont shop here, but I do sell a lot of cloths to them. Its a good store for what it does. Theyll give you straight up cash or store credit for your items. Of course it wont be nearly the same price as what you paid, and of course they wont want everything, but its always worth a visit before just throwing your stuff on the Goodwill bin. Unlike true consignment places like Second Time Around, you will recieve cash immediately regardless of whether they sell your item or not. Finding oarking nearby can be very tricky though.

I have sold here several times and it’s really never worth the trip. They buy very little for very little, even when i bring items trending on depop or very current name brand items. For example, I have brought in three large bags of nice trendy clothes and gotten ~$16 of credit, which would be much less in cash. They seem to almost never buy pre-90s vintage so don’t bother bringing any. I find the managers to be pretty patronizing about buying which doesn’t make it feel worth the effort. They sort of talk to you as though you would have no clue what’s in, and they are very artificially friendly while they completely waste your time going through your things. One of the managers kept complimenting the items I brought in and talking about how great my closet is as she put them back into my bag as rejects?? It feels really schmoozy and manipulative, they want you to keep making the effort of coming in and they want you to stay to shop, but they don’t want to reciprocate by taking the risk of buying anything from you or being up front when they aren’t looking to buy to begin with. On my last trip the worker told me they were pretty much full of stuff and only looking for select things only AFTER I waited in line and watched her go through all my bags and buy nothing. Why not tell us all that when we come in? When I have gotten some small bit of credit from trading, their selection is really poor and there’s very little I would want. It’s mostly very cheap UO, Gap, or other fast fashion brands, and not usually in particularly good condition. The aesthetic and styles they sell were in when I was in middle school which was quite a while ago. It’s almost as if they aren’t buying enough from people who come in to trade.... lol. I hate to be the bitter lady that writes a bad review, but I wish I hadn’t wasted the trips so hopefully this saves other people the effort.

Unfortunately, they didnt fit and were clearly marked wrong by the initial manufacturer. The new tags as well as, the Buffalo Exchange tags were still on them, which is why they were given up in the first place. These were not 32s but more like 31s. I added them to the pile of clothing to bring in on my next visit. When I went back, none of my things were desirable, so no deal.
