Greg is fantastic! So kind and knowledgeable. I brought a leather coach backpack in with a torn strap. He was realistic with me about expectations, and gave me options. He took the time to explain how he would do the repair and even helped me figure out what length I wanted the new strap.

Greg is awesome! I brought in my Frye boots that needed a deep cleaning, a new zipper, new bottoms soles, and some zipper stoppers. Sure, that is a lot to do for a pair of boots, but I love my Frye boots (had them for over 5 years and when you have comfortable and quality boots, you want to keep them! Greg restored them back to life and is giving me another 5+ years out of them. I just need to take better care of them myself. To bad Fyres customer service did not match Gregs.

Greg is great! He has re-heeled a number of my shoes, and when he noticed more wear on the sole he included advice about how/when to address the issues.For simple fixes (heel/toe taps) he has let me wait, and for larger jobs he let me know a realistic time for pickup. He doesnt take credit cards, but DOES accept Venmo - a lifesaver since I never have much cash on hand.Im just getting into shoes worth doing up keep on - he is a wealth of knowledge, but was open to learning about what one company recommended for shoe care, hes a real craftsman.He struggled through the pandemic and is still there doing excellent work, definitely bring in your shoes ASAP.

The owner was incredibly sweet and knowledgable. I came in near closing time and asked if he could add notches to be belt I bought on Amazon that I really liked, but was too big. I assumed it would be a quick in-and-out but he took the time to show me that there was a specially cut to the notches that made it more functional. I had used this belt for well over a year and never noticed. He took the time to make sure that the new special cut notches he made were to my liking. I not only left with a perfect fitting belt but with some knowledge that will help in future purchases. Overall 13/10 highly recommend.

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I brought in some pretty beat up loafers to Greg. Within one day he turned around my loafers and they look literally brand new. He also took the time to thoughtfully explain the process and tips to keep them looking fresh. Just so impressed with his product and service!

Excellent service, VERY pleased with my resole. I had a pair of wingtip shoes that fit me very well, but the soles were practically falling off. Greg made an assessment, gave me some options on how to approach my new soles, and I found the price for the work to be reasonable. My shoes are as good as new, and feel fantastic. Cobblery is a rare skill these days, and Greg is one of the best.

Best shoe repair experience Ive ever had -I walked into the shop hoping to get my boots repaired. Greg (the owner) took the time to go through every detail of the process with me, and explain to me what he could do, and most importantly his opinion if it was worth it or not.In the end, his expertise and advises ended up saving me hundreds of dollars potentially spent on low quality boots.Further more, he was able to highlight brands which hes personally has worked on and knows sell high quality boots that are done correctly (with goodyear welting for example), so I wont go through such an experience again.I would highly recommend Colonial Shoe Repair to anyone, from a friend, family member or even an acquaintance that happened to ask if anyone knew a good shoe repair guy. I cannot recommend Greg and Colonial Shoe Repair enough! I brought in a pair of boots to ask about getting a small scratch repaired. He fixed that beautifully, but he ALSO went above and beyond to give me tips and product recommendations on how to treat and protect my boots from future damage. He also added on a complimentary weather/longevity treatment and added on some extra heel covers to keep my boots from wearing down so much with daily wear. His advice alone (beyond the repairs) probably will help me get a whole extra year of wear out of my daily-wear boots.Greg goes above and beyond to help everyone that walks into his shop. 5 stars again and again!

Greg does excellent work every time I bring my dress shoes to him. Hes clearly passionate about shoes, always running through the options for caring for the shoes and explaining with honesty what he can and cannot do for the customer. Maybe most importantly, Greg always gives suggestions on how to better care for my shoes to ensure they last as long as possible. I highly recommend his shop.

Greg’s work is the best in Boston. He’s an incredible craftsman and refreshingly honest. Prices are always clear up front, and he’ll even let you know if you should buy a new shoe rather than putting money into a repair. Greg uses quality materials that last and can do repairs as simple as replacing heel caps or as involved as doing a full resole on a boot or Birkenstock. I’ve been taking my shoes to him for years and will keep coming back as long as I live in Boston!

Greg is excellent to work with! I had a pair of loafers that had worn clear through to the sock, and he has given them new life. They look and feel brand new, and I couldnt be happier. This shop is fantastic. I have him do all shoes I buy. I have protective Vibram heel and sole protectors put on. I have had pairs he has done 3 years ago and they are still perfect. He does a perfect job. Anything I need done I just bring to him with no worries.

I recently bought a pair of Allen Edmonds and he explained the best way to care for my shoes to ensure there longevity. I ended up getting a sole cover and taps, which he was kind enough to do in 24 hours as I was leaving town the next day. Highly recommend!

Really nice Cobbler but the $30 to stretch my shoes didnt work out for me. My patent flats were stretched but reshrunk to original size within a few days. I may come back for sole fixes. Just a bit bummed for my first visit.

I took a pair of (well-loved) leather boots in to have the rubber heal replaced, and Colonial Shoe Repair went above and beyond! Honestly, my boots look brand new, and I couldnt be happier with the services provided (and the price was very reasonable IMO). Would highly recommend.

I came into have a pair of my boots repaired. They were past the point of restoration, but instead of taking my money and putting some temporary patches on them, Gene talked to me for more than twenty minutes to explain to me every piece of damage on my shoes and future issues that would come even if he tried to repair them. It was obvious that he knows and respects the craft and also was very understanding on my sentimentalism of my shoes.Highly recommend, will definitely be back.

I couldn’t say enough good things about my experience I had here. Greg was awesome! I had a pair of dress shoes that got really destroyed after a wedding. If you have ever searched for the proper way to clean/condition/shine a brown multicolor pair of leather shoes, you will find how unhelpful the internet can be. I needed my shoes cleaned that Saturday; I waited till the last minute. I walked in and spoke to Greg, and he told me that he wouldn’t be able to get them done that day. I figured that, and was looking for any advice and materials I will need to do the job myself. Greg was extremely helpful! He showed me all the materials I would need, described in great detail what the materials were and would do, and then described in great detail instructions on what I should do. They turned out great! For something like this, reading instructions and buying things online just doesn’t get the job done. I was very happy I was able to go to this local shoe shop.

Love this place! I lived in the area for the past 2 years and didnt know it was close to me. Mens shoes have good selection and good prices. Womens is like 3 floors, while Mens is only 1 floor.. booo! :) But other than that, great!

He did a phenomenal job! I took multiple pairs of my Frye boots to him, and he did an absolutely fantastic job re-soling them, fixing the heels, and generally cleaning them up. I could not recommend him more highly.

Colonial Shoe Repair was recommended to me by a colleague. The owner Greg is very knowledgeable, fast, and produces great work. He took my relatively new Allen Edmonds and put rubber protectors and taps on the souls and I couldnt be happier with his work and how long they have lasted.

Greg took a pair of very nice, albeit very heel-worn Italian shoes and made them better than new. He replaced the rather thin leather lowers and soft heel with Boston street grade leather and heels. His prices are reasonable. I ruined a great pair of Imperials with a botched plastic bottom and Greg could have fixed them, but he said it was better to buy another pair than recraft those. His recommendation cost him money. I told all my friends at work about him and going forward, no one will repair my shoes but him.

Very impressed with Gregs work. He rebuild my Allan Edmonds and now they look and feel like a brand new pair of shoes. absolutely worth it.

Greg has the highest quality cobbler craftsmanship in Boston, he can be trusted servicing your high end shoes and can repair most everything. Greg understands shoe construction / resoling and leather care, he is one of few to offer Vibram soles. Greg will always take the time to explain the work needed or refer you to one of the items he sells in the store. I wont take my shoes anywhere else in Boston, he is expert.

I didnt know where to take my Louboutin heels to have them fixed properly, and Colonial Shoe Repair did a beyond fabulous job! They look brand spanking new! Incredible work!!

Loving shoes the way I do, I always look for a place where my favorite pair of boots, pumps, sandals and the occasional sneaker can be properly repaired.Greg, the owner, will take care of your shoes as if they were his own ( he loves shoes as much as his customers do). From your Nikes to your louboutins hell ensure, they are promptly repaired making them look as good as new. He will also ensure that the occasional tight pair of shoes one buys on a crazy sale are stretched out enough to fit your feet. Likewise, when the shoe is a bit big, hell make recommendations to make it fit just right. I highly recommend this shoe repair. One thing to keep in mind is that the entrance is on the back of summer street, right across from State Street and next to Chipotle. It can be confusing at first to find the address as listed.

Great service, extremely friendly. A bit expensive - I paid 120 to re-craft soles - but you get what you pay for.

Far better than South Station and easily worth the two block walk if youre worried about giving up your South Station convenience. I bought a pair of nice italian wingtips which even after they broke in were extremely uncomfortable and the heel had completely worn away. Greg explained exactly what hed do to fix the shoe, pointed out where they messed up in constructing it. He built the heel back up, resoled it and swapped out the inside all for a very reasonable price and now its easily my most comfortable shoe.Also, they have the BEST selection of meltonian shoe cream there compared to any other store Ive been in (yes I visit many). I cant tell you how helpful it is to see them and open them in person instead of online. Great for matching your shoe color or if youre more adventurous antiquing your shoes. Do yourself a favor, just start taking your shoes here and stop putting them in the hands of less competent folks.

$65-75 per pair for mens heel resole, double the competitors nearby. No thanks!
