I started seeing Michelle around 3-4 years ago. I had just moved to the US as a college student. I wasn’t sure who I could trust with my hair so I’d gone about 6 months without a cut. My hair in the meantime had gotten very oily and dry (an awful combination). I had wash my hair basically everyday because it would get oily so quickly. With Michelle’s guidance and scalp balancing regimen, I was able to regain and improve my hair’s/scalp’s health and strength. I am grateful for her expertise and care. I even convinced my mother and then my brother to start seeing her. We are all now her devoted clients! I live in New York now and when I get the chance to visit, I always try to get an appointment with her.This past visit, I decided to be adventurous and get a dark red balayage. She did an incredible job with the process and expertly maintained the health and shine of my hair. I thank my lucky stars to have someone like Michelle and Aluna Salon Spa. I highly recommend!

Definitely on the expensive/luxury side, but you can just tell they use very high quality products (smelled natural). Also it got expensive because my hair is very long... Liliya was my stylist and she was extremely thorough with everything and the result is magic! I will come back

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE -Poor Value - Not professional - Not on timeMy first time having a Brazilian Blowout. I didnt know that Brazilian blowout process would cause chemical fumes. The thing is that they even didnt tell me about it when they know it was my first time having this hair treatment service. My eyes felt like burning and the chemical fumes almost made me dizzy. Then they started to open the window and told me to close my eyes to avoid the chemical fumes (they should of told me about this at first). The service itself should be done in a well ventilated area of the salon and should provide a gas mask to prevent clients breathing the chemical fumes. I concern how it effects my health as well as the hairstylists health in the long term.I want to wash my hair to get rid of the chemical smell but the hairstylist told me to wait 4 days to wash my hair. Though most places say that you can wash your hair immediately after a Brazilian Blowout. This made me wonder if they provided me a keratin treatment (which is cheaper) but charged me a higher price and told me it was Brazilian blowout while its not. I want to wash my hair to get rid of the smell but at the same time Im afraid it would wash off the treatment chemical too (I spent $400 on it so...)Also I called and ask how much the service cost. But they up charged me $50 more when Im there.The whole process and final result doesnt worth $400 at all. But the worst thing is that now Im having nose and throat irritation + eye stinging.TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE AT ALUNA!

The most awful experience of haircut! The hairdresser cut my hair so it looks like a dog ripped it off :( on a top of that she cut much more if what I asked her too, so I cannot even fix it now. And at the end she said - that’s what you wanted. I’m absolutely shocked about the unprofessionalism of their stuff. Please don’t go there just for the « cheap price »

The ambience of Aluna salon is really lovely and my overall haircut/blowout experience was pleasant. Relaxing wash with head massage. However, my hair looked like it was cut by my 3 year old niece. It wasn’t until I got home that I noticed how incredibly uneven the length and layers were. My husband noticed too which says a lot. I didn’t contact them or attempt to have it fixed so I can’t speak to how they would’ve handled this issue.

Had an amazing experience with Olivia (@thepaintedhair on Instagram). She was very communicative and explained every step of the way. She was very clean with her work and my hair came out beautifully! I showed pictures of what I wanted to get done and she was able to perform it to the best of her abilities. My hair was previously colored by someone else and was a mess but Olivia was able to transform me into a new person honestly. I walked in with an appointment blindly and left with two scheduled future appointments with her. I definitely recommend going to see Olivia for cut and especially color!

I made an appointment here due to a Groupon coupon I purchased. They told me 2 pm for my appointment. The morning of my appointment they called and asked if I could push my appointment back to 2:30. I responded sure, no problem. Then, at 2:10 I was walking to the appointment which started in 20 minutes, and I get a call from them. They tell me they have to reschedule my appointment, it had been too busy that day. They actually called me, their client, 20 minutes prior to the appointment they gave me after already pushing it back, to tell me they were canceling the appointment on me. Super poor customer service. They asked me to reschedule, but I ended up canceling the Groupon coupon. Not giving such bad customer service my money.

A truly talented stylist, Liliya Grigoryeva’s skill is the definition of perfection when it comes to haircutting and coloring, especially using balayage that enhances a lovely natural look. I’ve been getting compliments as a result of her work for the past 8 years! I have had family members and friends who cannot believe how great (and lasting) her haircuts are!! They are now clients of Liliya’s as well. I get the best, most meticulous haircut from Liliya, and as I have aged, the style has changed, but Liliya works with me, so the new changes are flattering. I have never had a stylist take so much time to make sure she got the cut and blowout perfectly. Liliya obviously takes great pride in her work, and she will help you with subtle changes in makeup that truly help the aging face!!! She is passionate about her art.Aluna has fantastic services and restorative products; I love the atmosphere, nothing but a good afternoon with a little coffee or tea to help you relax even more. This is the only salon that I trust to deal with my hair properly.

The salon is clean with a great view of Newbury St. I received a mens haircut from Michelle, who was absolutely wonderful! One of the best haircuts I have received. Decided to try out this salon on rec from a friend who had an awesome experience here. I used a Groupon for my first visit and could not be happier! Chelsey is amazing and works absolute magic; she spent a full 2 hours on my hair to give it life and shape back. Not only is she so friendly and sweet, she is incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to ask me all about my hair and how I manage it so she could give me the best advice on how to change my habits/products/etc. I couldn’t have asked for a better stylist! I will definitely be going back and I will be happy to pay full price (and that’s saying a lot from a college student on a budget!!).

I have been going to Michelle for almost 10 years- and I would not go see anyone else ! When I’ve had to see someone else during this time period it is never half as good. She gives the best men’s haircut, is so accommodating and flexible, and one of the kindest people. Good barbers are hard to come by. Ive changed barbers countless times from either poor cuts, unprofessional behaviour or misunderstanding simple instructions (how short back and sides is understood as a grade 2 all over is baffling). Went here for the first time just the other day. Marco is skillful and knowledgeable. I was pleased to discover that he prefers to take his time in his craft per customer rather than rush haircuts for more business. Whilst waiting for my beard trim and haircut, I noticed how talented Maria is too. Ill be returning for sure.

Had a lovely experience at Aluna Salon last weekend. I had purchased a Groupon for a Brazilian Wax and 60 minute facial. I was greeted by a friendly, engaging staff member at the front desk - even though the phones were ringing and he was clearly very busy, he still managed to greet me in a warm way. Shortly after I arrived, I went in for my wax with Lucy. She was marvelous! Thorough, charming and made me feel very comfortable. I have super sensitive skin and have been getting waxes for years (with/without strips, soy, hard, you name it!) but I had never seen the wax they used. I was pleasantly surprised. Super moisturizing and very minimal irritation day of. Overall a great experience, and Im looking forward to going back for my facial.

I having been going for 6 years to have my hair done with facials every 3 to 4 months. Best place I have ever gone to. Very satisfied.

Quality does not match price. Went in looking for natural highlights. Came out frosty blonde with hard roots. Not the look I had expressed to my stylist. Disappointed to say the least.

NEVER GO HERE.I went into the salon for an easy cut and some highlights. I also came in with three different photos of the style I wanted and seeing as it was an expensive place I figured they would be able to easily do a simple cut when I had multiple examples to show the stylist. The stylist started cutting my hair, and after noticing she was not doing what we discussed/I had showed her, I interrupted her to make sure she knew what I wanted. She proceeded to ignore my multiple corrections. She then did not let me see the final cut but instead immediately dried/styled simultaneously without showing me or asking if I liked the final cut. I walked out hating the style but thought it might be better once I washed it only to find out that it now looks like I took a pair of scissors and just chopped at my hair. The whole time it felt like she didnt care at all, only wanted to finish up and go home. Once I complained the salon said the would fix it free of charge, but would not return my money. I am so upset that the thought of returning to this absolute sham of a salon makes too angry. As I clearly do not trust the salon to deliver quality as promised, I now have to spend more time and money to get this fixed.

Aluna salon is a very beautiful salon, everyone was so nice when I came in the place was so cleaned and they offered me coffee or water!! Lilya did my hair and I loved it. I highly recommend this place and definitely will be going back!!

My experience at Aluna Salon this evening far surpassed my expectations. I had made an appointment last minute for a cut and blowout. I had only been to this salon once a year prior (had my hair cut with Diego, also an amazing experience). The salon is so clean and well decorated inside. All the staff are friendly and inviting. My appointment was with Liliya, who made sure to listen to my every request in addition to giving a very professional opinion about the length and layers I should have. I have incredibly long hair and I wanted to keep it that way, just wanted to clean up the extremely dead ends and make my hair healthy again. I have had hair stylists in the past ignore what I wanted and cut off WAY more. Not Liliya— she listened to all my requests and did exactly what I wanted. She’s so meticulous, a real perfectionist. I left Aluna with shiny happy healthy hair, I will definitely be returning. Thank you Liliya!!!

Worst Brazilian waxing experience Ive ever had. The aesthetician was not sanitary, double dipped the entire time and used only one spatula for the entire wax. I have no idea if the pot of wax was even fresh and only used for just me. Moved back and forth between front and back areas using the same spatula. Re-waxed the very delicate inner areas 3-4 times, and there was still hair there somehow.Worst part was that she ran out of the cotton strips about halfway through. Her boss apparently told her to make do with what they had so she used ALUMINUM FOIL from the hair salon to wax me. I told her this was uncomfortable so she left and magically came back with more cotton strips.It was painful, unsanitary, and I left with patches of hair and insane irritation. Several bumps and ingrown hairs afterwards. Spend the extra money and go anywhere else.The manager I spoke to is helping me with a refund.

I never realized how important trust is in a stylist until I came to this salon...The Good: Salon is very clean and well organized. I got offered something to drink (water, tea) twice.The Bad:First Strike: When the stylist was ready for me (15 mins late), she immediately lead me to the cutting station. I began to wonder if the groupons didnt come with a wash. She asked me how much I wanted my hair cut and was to the point, and within a MINUTE of meeting me, she cut off 4 inches of hair WHILE IT WAS DRY (2 inches more than I wanted).I immediately became so uncomfortable with the haircut and how it was being done, but the damage was already done so I had to anxiously wait for it to be over, nervous about what might come next. After cutting off too much hair right at one go, she lead me to wash my hair. Strange but fine.Second Strike: When the stylist was going to do the final touches, she didnt take note to how my hair was parted, and immediately parted it down the center (who does that anymore??). A good stylist should take note, and if they didnt take note- they should ask before cutting! I had to stop her and make her part it on the side, but she didnt seem to care or to be sorry.Third Strike: The stylist had me STAND while she did the finishing touches on my hair. Not to be lazy, but they have the chairs that increase in height for a reason. Whats the point of going to a salon if they make YOU rotate your body to cut your hair?Fourth Strike: My hair was in my face the whole time. She didnt seem to have a high attention to detail when she was cutting my hair, and most of the appointment was drying my hair. While cutting my hair, she did everything at one go, but when drying my hair, she did it in pieces, clipping my hair on the top of my head, but she did not wrap it in a way that kept it neat; as a result, it became very knotty and she was TUGGING at my knot to try to get it out, rather than being careful to take it out.She didnt say much the whole time, and I tried my best to be friendly despite being uncomfortable. At the end, she offered me a shampoo that she thinks I should try (aka buy). NO THANK YOU.

I did not have a good experience using the Groupon. Just like the previous clients below, Aluna charges extra for basic services like a gloss treatment when you get your hair dyed. I was shocked to pay an extra $35 instead of the flat fee of my Groupon. And they told me that they were doing me a favour with that price! I will not be returning there.

I purchased for the second time a Groupon (89$ for partial highlights) since I am used to use coupons for anything. They let me in and once the let me sit, Chelsey tells me very rudely that it wasnt possible to use my Groupon for the second time. I asked her why (hoping she would have made an exception since Ive already bought the Groupon the previous time) and she answered me EXTREMELY rude that: well, I wouldnt make any money if everybody would keep on using Groupons for their haircuts. Also if people would keep on showing up with Groupons to their hair salon nobody would make any money. Groupons are for trying a place only once, then you usually pay the full price.... I felt like a miserable person, when Iam actually not.Now, just letting you know: I am also not that used to leave negative reviews but this is the second time that this unfortunate thing happens since the first time I used my Groupon I received pretty much the same treatment (she was extremely pushy in making me doing EXTRA products that I never asked for/ at the end she was trying to sell me a hair cream I never asked for / she was keeping on asking me to leave her a positive review or to promote her with my friends) but in that occasion I didnt leave any reviews.When I am happy with a service I always tip and ( as it actually was going to happen) I like to become a regular customer: too bad you lost another customer for your attitude. Counting the days until this place closes, we dont need these kind of establishments on Groupon!

My cousin and I each purchased a Groupon for full highlights at this salon. We scheduled a Saturday for us to both go and have a girls day. On the day of our appointment, we arrived 20 minutes early (our appointment was at 2pm). The girl at the front desk stared at us and asked us which one of us made the appointment (it was my cousin). She then proceeds to tell us that they tried calling her and left a message. My cousin checked her phone and saw that the stylist called at noon..2 hours before the appointment (we were already on our way) to say she was sick and couldnt go to the salon. The receptionist than asks if we want to reschedule. We said No. Funny that you need a 24hour cancellation policy but stylists can cancel 2 hours before. The receptionist then leaves to talk to someone, comes back and says we will have to wait a while to be seen because my cousins stylist is behind on a client (the one who supposedly wasnt going in). I then say that my cousin can have my stylist and that I would like a refund. The receptionist leaves and comes back to say we will be seen in 20 minutes. At 2:45 I am seen by my stylist. The stylist who was supposed to see my cousin comes over and says that shes running behind and doesnt know what to do and then awkwardly stares at my cousin. My stylist then says that he will do both of our hairs. So he alternates between working with me and my cousin. We left the salon at 8. We left starving and pissed that we didnt receive the service we were expecting (per their website). Perhaps they dont treat Groupon customers the same. Dyego did his absolute best and I give him 5 stars. However, the salon itself left much to be desired. We will not be returning.

I went in to get an ombre/balayage done. Aluna ignored what I said I wanted and gave me something WILDLY different from what I described and the photos Id brought in. When I became upset and reiterated what Id wanted, she told me that looks funny. I said it looks great in the photos, and its what I want, not this horrible patchy bleach job she did. We ending up fighting and she eventually said she would fix it. It looks marginally better but it is still lightyears from what I had wanted. The kicker to this is she charged me twice without telling me beforehand that that would be the case. If I had known it would double the price, I wouldve just left and dyed it all my natural color again. I might end up doing that anyway.

People are rude. Maybe ok if you want to book a massage next year but not anytime soon. Had a horrible time trying to book a massage I got for a gift. Finally get and appointment for a week and a half later for them to cancel it the night before and then are booked out for another week and a half. I purchased a Groupon deal for a half head of highlights, cut and blow dry. I love the cut and color I ended up with and the service was great. I would give 5 stars but I cant shake the feeling of frustration that I was charged an extra $45 for the gloss/color that I, and anyone, would need if they had dark hair and were getting highlights/foils. I think the salon needs to be much clearer on Groupon that you will need to pay more on top of your voucher. For me, my hair was lightened / stripped of color which would enable the highlighted color to be added. I was then informed that this gloss over the hair stripped of color was $45 extra. So if I didnt have an extra $45 I would have been left with hair stripped of color - apparently that is all the Groupon deal offers when they say highlights. I have actually never heard of a price being quoted for highlights that doesnt include the color that goes on once your hair is stripped and left that bronze/orange color so this review is just to make others aware of purchasing a Groupon on a budget, not to deter anyone from attending the salon with clearly very experienced and friendly staff!

I totally recommend this salon, I got my Balayage done with Tiago and Gina and I couldnt be more happier with the results and customer service excellence provided by Aluna Salon & Spa . Im definitely come back either for a cut or color again.

The whole experience was great. The front desk was very organized and Tiago did such a wonderful job on my highlights. My hair was very damaged due to coloring procedures and my highlights were literally yellow, it just looked way too fake. I walked out with the most natural blonde highlights Ive ever had. Ive been to great hair salons before but none of them can be compared to Aluna Salon and the service Tiago offered me. I am happy I finally found a hairstylist that is honest (he will tell you if your hair can handle that platinum blonde everybody wants), professional and polite. The manager, Diego, was also very friendly and professional. I am definitely going back for maintenance and I highly recommend Aluna Salon Spa.

Never never go here again!!!!it is really bad and bad attitude. They charge a lot of money and do the worst!keeping adding a lot of money.
