Went it to grab an ice coffee the other day and wasnt all that impressed. The vibe of the place was like youd expect if a place was remodeling. The ice coffee wasnt bad, but it had grounds in it which was unexpected. Probably wont be going back.
It has a blend of a coffee shop and a safe house. The flavors of each product is special, and there is no relation of the fragrance to other coffee shops Ive ever tasted. And it feels like my late mom made me a nice taste of espresso and the shop has a wonderful atmosphere. What a delightful spot.
I was excited to try this place, and dont get me wrong the food and coffee was good. However, my everything bagel with cream cheese turned into an onion bagel with cream cheese, and my wifes sesame bagel with hummus turned into an everything bagel with hummus. The barista who took out order didnt seem all there and a bit confused. I just wish she asked about the bagels while making them instead of guessing. Visited 5/24/21 at 945 am.Update: Thank you for refunding my order. Rating has been updated for great customer service!
Great espresso, bagels and pastries are also good. Friendly service. Cappuccino reminded me of the coffee in Europe!
Great fresh bagels. Only giving 4 stars because of the limited seating (might be a Covid thing 😊) if it is, this place gets 5/5.
Love the atmosphere of this place. There is a beautiful outdoor seating in the back. The hours are little short. Definitely recommend for taking a friend out.
Im glad to have found this place. This place is going to be my favourite spot in this streak in Boston, as its not very far of my home.Located in almost the end of Columbus Ave, you can see from the outside inside of the bar, just going up the stairs. Youll find a high table and the bar when you enter in, every time I went there were almost no lane, as you order and they take what you have order to your table, thats awesome. The café is divided in two areas, one next to the building with some small windows, and one full of big windows, where its very nice to work with your laptop or read. The power plugs of the outer zone dont work, so keep it in mind before sitting there with your laptop.Talking about the coffee and the food, they are very good in my opinion. The coffee tastes like coffee ( I like strong coffee ), and they have also other options as Chai, Hazelnut or tea, I really recommend them too. I also like having coffee in a ceramic glass or mug, so many cafés give you paper glass although you are taking the coffee there. Also they have some pastries, muffins and bagels, just in the bar. I tried bagels ( I love bagels ) with cream cheese and there awesome. The music is not very loud, and people used to be quiet.
Every time Ive gone inside here I have regretted. its not the food which is ok I usually go for a bagel, I have a Nespresso machine at home so I havent had the coffee but seems good from the reviews. However the staff is sooooo standoffish. they ignore you even when you make direct eye contact. The staff really ruins it.
Good coffee and bagels are excellent
Need to update hours closed on sunday at 440pm rode over a mile to get coffee
This coffee shop will make you feel right at home! Excellent customer service, great coffee, and good food. I love the ambience. The way the natural light hits during the day makes it bright. Worth giving it a try! Definitely coming back!
Employee was extremely hostile and rude
Render is a cute and cozy shop. Good coffee. Bagels are yummy too! They are on the Food For All app, so its super cool to see that they are doing their part to reduce food waste. (Also, a nice way for us customers to occasionally pick up some goodies at half off 😋 which is appreciated)
Lovely place. The patio space is cute. Good vibes. A bit busy, but I could successfully secure a table. Wifi available. Good for hanging out with friends (but dont bring too many friends. Small tables)
Good coffee, good service. Only one size though.
Good enough coffee shop not far from my office. I often visit on the way to work. I can mention the excellent professional staff.
I ordered delivery and they didnt bring me everything I ordered. When I called about the problem they said I would have to come to the shop to pick up the remainder of my order, or get refunded for the part of the order that was not delivered. I found it very frustrating that they did not take ownership of the problem. That said, the coffee was great.
4.5 but I cant give half points. The atmosphere is lovely, customer service is really great, and the coffee is amazing. However the food is lacking and too expensive for not being very good at all. I mean, how do you mess up a grilled cheese??? But overall a great spot.
This coffee shop is great! The cold brew and espresso were fantastic! But along with the coffee they offer some truly fantastic bagel options. The pastry case is full of delicious things like almost croissants, yoghurt cups, and big glasses of orange juice! The staff were all so friendly and super speedy. While we sat and ate our food I could see that they really did enjoy working there. That amazing attitude permeates the atmosphere and makes for the perfect place to come and eat, drink coffee, or study. I wish our stay in Boston was longer so we could visit this coffee shop more! I highly recommend this place!
This coffee shop will make you feel right at home! Excellent customer service, great coffee, and good food. I love the ambience. The way the natural light hits during the day makes it bright. Worth giving it a try! Definitely coming back!
Great small little cafe/coffee shop. Their menu has most types of coffee options and what they dont have they make up for in quality of what they do serve. However if youre a tea person, this might not be ideal. They might have more tea options, but I didnt really see much however they might. They do brew drip coffee, and loose leaf tea as well. They have a small, but delicious breakfast and lunch menu. Im not sure if you can order anytime of the day, but the make your own breakfast sandwich is absolutely delicious. The ambiance is great; I would really want to go there when its raining sometime. They have this glass cover seating area in the back which I can imagine being surreal to sit in while drinking a hot coffee. They also have an outdoor seating area. The staff is very friendly and polite. They also have some light music playing in the background in the seating area.
Decent coffee, but no where to drink it.Ive been here a few times because the location is convenient. The espresso is alright, and the drip coffee is very tasty. Unfortunately Ive never been able to find a place to sit. The last time I went in some of the tables were just covered in the jackets of people sitting at nearby tables. Even on a slow weekday afternoon Ive had to take my coffee to go, which makes it much less enjoyable.
Food and coffee was great! Place was packed when we got in but the owner made sure we got taken care of as quickly as possible. I highly recommend it.
Small, locally run morning and lunch spot. Good selection of coffee, tea and other beverages. Some creative twists to standard fare. I had a breakfast bagel sandwich - everything bagel with fried egg, shredded potatoes and rosemary, pepper jack cheese, and ham. Very tasty. Staff is very pleasant and helpful. Would recommend.
Cold brew was good. Owner was very friendly. It would have been a much better experience if we had no interaction with the barista. You would think he was doing something important based on his attitude. Being around someone for 2 minutes should not have a person want to write a negative review.
Render is my go- to to-go spot in the neighborhood & has been over the past 8 years. The breakfast sandwich remains unbeatable. I wish, however, I could say the same of service...I don’t know what happened *gestures broadly at COVID* but the younger baristas are constantly complaining in front of guests & it’s wildly offputting. Hospitality is only special when your staffs thinks so. :/
Very nice place and great location. During summer you can have a good coffee enjoying the sun on its outside porch. Very famous for bagel, with good reason.
O. M. G!!! Small and quaint. The coffee menu is small and easy to make a good choice (each selection is delish)I dont know exactly how to describe the freshly made decadent pastries that are prepared behind a huge glass windowed kitchen for your enjoyment and peace of mind....Im hoping 5stars tells the story!
I love this kind of coz atmosphere. Staff were nice and friendly. Perfect place to start a morning.
Wonderful experience for coffee/breakfast while traveling. Had a delicious egg sandwich on seedy, whole grain bread and my husband had a yummy mini souffle/quiche with egg and bacon. Our coffees were delicious and we ate in the back room full of sunlight windows.
Drinking coffee basically feels like my full-time job most days, and I can honestly say, this is hands down THE BEST hazelnut latte of my life. Menu reads house made sauce... Indeed. It tastes like ground up hazelnuts in my perfect latte. P.S. this was my first time here, but I might just drive from Newton daily for this caffeinated treat. Thank you Render Coffee.
Great bagel sandwiches
Great craft coffee! The pour over was spectacular and Ive also tried the espresso. Im looking forward to many more stops here.
This is all about the drip and bean! If you are not here for that go to D&D down the street. This place is the PERFECT location for your morning wake up.
I love this place! Me and my husband went in and was immediately acknowledge and seated. the interior design is very much taste. The food is too die fore and the overall customer service is top notch. Highly recommended.
If you really enjoy the coffee process and how it all comes together to make a great cup of coffee this is your spot. They have a wide array of beans to choose from, styles of coffee, and inventive takes on classic offerings like a malted cold brew coffee. I wish their cold brew lived up to everything else they do so well, it’s just a little weak on flavor to me. Might be something to do with their ratio of water to concentrate, but I understand that if you make it to concentrated people will complain as well just wish the cold brew was as good as some of their other brewing methods
A little pricey, but they brew a nice cup of coffee here. I can also confirm that it always seems to be a full house here, so if youre looking for a place to meet up and hang out, this is probably not ideal unless you get there early.
Ive been trying the coffee in this area quite a bit and I stumbled upon render after looking on Google. Do cappuccinos here are the best that Ive had in the area and in my opinion are reasonably priced at $4 for the south end. You can find it cheaper elsewhere, but the quality is better here. And the bagels are excellent too. But dont buy a breakfast sandwich as its really a bad deal. Its about $7 or more for a breakfast sandwich.
A really awesome little coffee shop. Decaf cap was excellent. The seating in the back is awesome for doing some work.
Went to grab a few bagels for breakfast. Friendly staff but bagels were nothing special and limited selection. There was a DD on same corner that would have been just as good.
Wonderful little coffee shop with a great location in the South End. Loved the outdoor, back porch seating area. Malted cold brew and chicken salad sandwich were delicious!
Great coffees and teas and good food too. Sometimes hard to find a seat so dont be surprised if you have to take it to go. Full lox bagel is delicious and for a great price.
Coffee and food was excellent...goat cheese quiche, breakfast sandwich were great. Scone and muffin were a bit dry but everything else was delicious! Seating very limited...lots of wifi solo users at tables.
Great atmosphere. Amazing coffee. And the customer service was excellent. Highly recommend if youre looking for a cool place to hang out.
Mmmm delicious coffee. I went with a super basic vanilla latte (hey, it said their vanilla was homemade!) and I was not disappointed. We sat for a little bit, theres an ample amount of sitting room inside (but eventually took our coffee to go). I wish I had more to say, quality coffee at a mostly-reasonable price :).
Great coffee, but a bit expensive. Has outdoor seating around back which is great when the weather is nice! However, severe lack of outlets in the rear atrium and on the outdoor porch. I get that they dont want people staying for lever, but thats a major turn off.... +1 star if they add more outlets...
The vanilla latte I had was the BEST vanilla latte I’ve ever had. The turkey club was great as well. The only issue I have is that it is very expensive. The vanilla latte with the sandwich was approximately $15. Other than that, great place!
Render coffee is my favorite cold brew coffee in the city. Its a great place to bring a computer and work or meet partners to brainstorm or chat. It stays pretty quiet (which is nice) and they have lots of food as well as coffee offerings. The staff is very friendly and you feel welcome to sit for hours take take food/drinks to go. The service is fast and everything Ive ordered has been high quality.Great natural light inside, Id definitely recommend if you need a break from the office or a place to meet a friend (or to sit and read/work alone!).
Great cafe, delicious food made in house, excellent coffees and super friendly staff. Nice to sit outside on the patio and relax with a book or do some work.
Render has a wonderful atmosphere. The staff really cares about making quality products for their customers. They have outdoor patio seating, which is wonderful to sit on and enjoy the summer weather. Its a great place to go with friends to sit and chat.
I loved this place! it has a nice outdoor patio and lots of people working there. Its attached to a gift shop with great items.
Great coffee and selection of food/pastry items. Had their seasonal lavender vanilla latte the other day and it was on point. Their brewed coffee is also solid. Theyve got a lot of seating too, so its a good place to hang out for a moment.
Render is known for its great coffee and its notoriously high prices.Located at a prime location in the South End, Render has a wide selection of hot and cold brew coffee. They also offer sandwiches and baked goods, although Ive yet to try them. They have an area in the rear of the restaurant that makes a good study spot.
A nice place to grab a coffee and study! Theres a nice sun room in the back which is great on a warm day!
Excellent cappuccino, one of the best in Boston. Nice space, with patio out back, and a sun room for cooler weather. Has wifi. Tasty quiche. I got good service. I definitely will return - I discovered it earlier today, and already have been there twice.
This coffee shop is right around the corner from my apartment and I couldnt be happier about it. They put a lot of effort into their coffee, espresso, and food, and it shows. I love getting a latte to go before I brave the #1 Bus, or if I have a little extra time, I order one of their rosemary frittata egg sandwiches and enjoy it in the atrium. Plus the staff is super friendly and you can pay with square!
I was soooooo stoked to find this place after I studied abroad. very reminiscent of my abroad experience, all cooped up in a coffee shop! Loved the assortment of offerings they had.
This is one of my favorite cafes in Boston. They have many good options for pour overs and their beans that they use for Cortados is great. They also offer wide variety of pastries and their atmosphere is really good.
I have had some really yummy drinks here. I love their lattes and their cortados, nice and rich. The space is quite nice for studying and doing work. I have only gotten coffee but it looks like they do a decent sandwich and soup as well. A place to linger for sure.
Great staff, good coffee, a few little snacks to Nosh on if youd like something to eat... We really enjoyed grabbing a delicious cup here.
Cool space, friendly staff. Very good pour over coffee. And very good chocolate cookie to go along with it.
Some of foods are not good for me
I am a coffee snob, and this place passes muster and then some. Great coffee in a fairly roomy space with lots of tables. Conveniently just outside a T stop on my morning route, and their brew keeps me coming back.
Great pour over coffee, nice selection of Counter Culture coffees and friendly staff. All in a nice calm atmosphere. Happy to find this place on my visit to Boston.
Place gets fairly packed, seating may be hard to find. Really nice little atrium area in the back and fireplace. Parking is nearly impossible, but accessible to public transportation. Espresso products are made well.
The best espresso shots in Boston. Drip coffee and cold brew are always spectacular too.
Hands down the best espresso & coffee bar in the South End! Let me put it this way, I live in the South End and have to walk past Cafe Nero (2nd favorite), the Buttery, Cafe Appleton, Starbucks and a few more to get here and I do it every time. Great espresso, cold brew, the Quiches on point and the staff is amazing. If you really want to do it right, hit up Cafe Madeleine on your way up Columbus to grab THE BEST Chocolate Chip Cookie to enjoy along with your coffee @ Render.
Great coffee and bagels. Cozy place, but usually pretty full so its hard to find a table. Great place to study and read!
The BEST! The staff and food!! Such an inviting environment and home feel. Great espresso and vegitarian options.
Beautiful place to take a rest after walking along Massachusetts Ave on a hot day. The coffee quality is always very high, and the counter staff are always very nice
Love this place because it has a great selection of Central and South American coffees, and they have really good bagels
Great coffee, even have lovely decaf! Thank you! Great tea, food and service. Love you guys!
I had the Hazelnut latte and I couldnt understand what was the grainy feel in the latte. Turns out its actual powdered Hazelnut!! Which means every other place definitely uses syrup (: It was nutty, toasty and yummy.
