I have gotten 4 tattoos at Speakeasy and each time has been amazing! Its super clean, everyone is seriously nice and extremely talented. Steve has done all 4 of my tattoos and I would recommend him to anyone! He has done such an incredible job each time.

Speakeasy is everything you want in a tattoo shop. Clean, inviting, friendly staff, and seriously talented artists. Honestly perfect if you’re covered or if it’s your first tattoo. The team there will work with you to create something you’ll love. I highly recommend Dave and Logan for sure! Boone is lucky to have this place

I got my first tattoo done here this week by Dave and I was so happy with the result. The only issue I had was having to sit there for over an hour before someone acknowledge me (even though multiple artist saw me before). Dave was very polite when he came out. He wanted to take his time with his appointments which I completely respect. He was straightforward with me about what to expect and made me feel very comfortable. Daves area was very clean as well. I am absolutely in love with my new piece and show it off to every person I can.

Made an appointment months ago and I got the dates mixed up. I requested a Saturday and they responded with a date so I just remembered it as that Saturday. They have a computer appointment system but cant figure out automatic appointment reminders? They also dont bother to call if youve missed your appointment. It just tells me they dont care about the people theyre tattooing, just pocketing as many missed appointment fees that they can. This was a special tattoo and they were aware but they couldnt even accommodate a small tattoo.

Went and got my first tattoo and was obviously a little nervous. Logan was great and helped me turn a simple idea into something really special. He was also really good at easing the nerves and helping me feel comfortable. Great first experience would definitely go back.

A little missed communication between parties in the beginning, but all was explained in a very professional manner and all worked out. This being my fiancées first tattoo the situation was special experience for her and the artist really hit the mark on her tattoo. He wasn’t heavy handed and tattoos don’t feel the best, he took his time and made it as painless as possible. Great staff from the person up front to the artist in the back.

I was not present but my 18 year old daughter went with the idea that she was going to get a large snake on her arm as her first tattoo. Let me say as someone who has tattoos that I love mine.They told her no! Thank you so much for expressing that this was not a good idea for a first tattoo! Suggested something smaller and less visual for a first tattoo. Such professionals! Thank you for not just taking a naive, emotional young womans money but instead looking out for her!My next tattoo will be with you guys for sure!

I came with a red bird on branch, not really pleased with it. Mark redid it. Brought it to life. Added his own touch and I loved it.

I just got a tattoo done at Speakeasy yesterday by Dave. I went in slightly hesitant because I was reading the negative reviews but I must say, I did not experience anything negative on my visit. Everyone there was nice and polite. My artist, Dave, took time doing my stencil correctly and we even had some things happen like me smudging the stencil and he reassured me it was okay and fixed the issue and I ended up with a beautiful tattoo that I am in love with. The pricing was expensive in general but I would say its about right for a tattoo shop, it is what I expected. Thanks to all the employees!

I got my first from Steve close to a week ago. It was my first tattoo and with the covid guidelines and not being allowed to have anyone else in the room, I was super nervous. Steve was awesome, he walked me through it and was just a super nice guy to talk to. It was a great first experience. Cant wait to go back.

Got a tattoo done here last week by Logan, was an amazing experience and Logan took my idea and made it come to life even better than I could have imagined. Clean place, had a great time and very professional too. Definitely will be returning.

Logan is badass and does great work, I got a big piece on my arm by him quite a while back. I had a bad experience today, however, with Dave. Just came in with my partner to get her a simple text tattoo. We were having trouble getting the stencil to be straight and then for deciding where to place the tattoo when the initial placing wasnt working. Granted, we were having some difficulties getting started and finding common ground, but we were being entirely polite and respectful. Dave, on the other hand, was very disrespectful and arrogant. He was impatient and sarcastic, sharply exhaling and snapping at us frequently and complaining when he had to go make a new stencil, mocking the idea of a text tattoo ever being simple. We decided to leave, even offering to pay $30 for his time (which he declined). As we were leaving, my partner offered again to pay him for his time, but he insisted again that there was no need, and that he wasnt upset with us; he seemed completely oblivious to his mounting condescension over the course of this experience. If he was growing impatient and deciding he didnt want to go through with this tattoo, he could have respectfully told us that he was not interested in finishing this work. Instead, he acted quite childish and made us very uncomfortable. We do not recommend him at all. The only reason I gave two stars instead of one is because Logan is good and the guy at the desk seemed nice enough.

These guys are the real deal! all the artist are exactly what an artist is. been going there for 2 years now and am a loyal customer all the way! extremely clean and extremely professional. Greg the owner will not let you leave with a bad tattoo neither will any of the other artist. Nicole is very organized with times, dates and making sure communication between the customer and the shop is super clear. you definitely wont be disappointed by anyone at the shop!

I recently got tattooed by Alex and it was an amazing experience. The tattoo turned out beautiful, and Alex was extremely kind. All of the staff was very friendly, and the shop itself was exceptional. I definitely plan on coming back to get more!

I always suggest if someone is wanting amazing work that here is the place to go. Almost all of my art work is from here. I have had wonderful experiences here and fully plan on any future pieces I get to be from them. If youre having bad customer service, I cant imagine what youre doing wrong aside from being rude to the staff. I wouldnt expect to walk in and immediately get a piece, they are busy, but well worth any wait. I love this place!

I went to Speak Easy on April 9th to get matching tattoos with my mom for my birthday. We saw Logan and each of us got a sunflower on our arm. And oh my goodness he did such an amazing job. I have never had customer service done so well by someone before. They both look incredible. He blended my moms colors together beautifully and it looks amazing. I am so happy and pleased with Logan’s job, and I will definitely be going back for my next one!

The family and I have all had tattoos done here at Speakeasy when we are in town. We have all been above pleased with our results. We came in as a family of five to have the same tattoo on each of us and they were very accommodating. They did touch up on an old tattoo for me as well that had been done in another state. Love the staff!

As a first-timer of getting a tattoo, I was super nervous. Im terrified of blood and needles, so I was terrified of the tattoo process. I had been wanting a tattoo for a really long time though, and finally decided to just get it. The tattoo artists at Speakeasy made it such a positive experience. Steve was my artist, and he was so kind, patient, and fun. He explained everything to me and talked me through it. I absolutely love my new tattoo! With such a talented and wonderful staff, I would highly recommend Speakeasy.

I love these guys. i have been lucky enough to have been inked by three different artist in this shop over the years and just keep coming back because they are the best i have found in town or around. the only problem is that they cant give me more skin to get ink. i would recommend them to anyone and everyone . they have fixed a lot of work that i got done other places and i havent had to get any of there work fixed . the staff is great and very personable .oh yeah they wont put your tat on someone else later which is one of the reasons i go there because i like my original work and dont want my work on someone else later i mean who would but its good to know that u can stay original. anyway go check them out and i think u will be happy i sure am.

I went to this place because a lot of friends recommended it, as it probably is the best place *IN BOONE*. When I went there with my family, two of the employees were incredibly rude to my family and I. Which I did not find appeasing at all. I decided to go ahead and discuss my tattoo idea with the artist and when I brought in my artwork as a reference he proceed to call it very unprofessional and said he would have to rework the whole thing, which I understand but there are much better ways to word that as it was just a reference. Later one of the employees, Alex and I, were emailing back and forth. I wasn’t willing to pay the amount given as I had a budget and asked if he could work with me on it. He pretty much ignored that whole email and suggested I get a different tattoo. I obviously only wanted a tattoo on my body that I would appreciate and did not want the other. Before hand I did want that tattoo but realized my art was more personal to me. Alex emailed me back after me asking for a real number on the tattoo that I wanted and he proceed to tell me,“you changed your mind twice in two days, wanted your deposit back, and now want to possibly change even more things?this is not the way to go about getting a good tattoo.im not into working with people that are unsure of what they want.”It’s not about what he wanted it’s the customer and he should’ve been more considerate toward my ideas, opinions, and as it would be my first tattoo, my nervousness. Personally I will not be going here as I want an environment where I feel welcome and with an artist and shop willing to work with me to get exactly what I want.

All the artists are very talented and will help you figure out exactly what you want.Everyone who works there is super friendly and make you feel welcome.If you are going for your first tattoo then they will walk you through the process step by step and make sure you are comfortable.

This past Friday the 13th I was tattooed by Logan, I brought him an idea I had and an image and he totally transformed it into something even better than I imagined. Logan was super nice and very talented, and I was really impressed by the cleanliness, far better than anything I’ve experienced before. My tattoo is healing great so far and I already have some new ideas in the works and will absolutely be going back to him this fall! I have gotten 5 tattoos at speakesy, and all of them were an excellent experience. Until now. Be warned, that when they say, “your deposit can be moved if needed,” they dont actually mean that, and now I am out $100. As a result of a military obligation I requested a rescheduling, and was told that the artist I had in mind was booked out until the summer. I requested a reschedule with a different artist, and was told “yeah that works” and got the new artists email and everything. No problem. But then I get a call later saying, “yeah sorry we will need a new deposit for that to happen.” So I am essentially out $100 because of something I cant control. I have had great experiences with speakeasy until now. Incredibly unprofessional, and they do not care about their customers. I was told “these things happen in life and they will probably happen again. Sorry, I have another client to handle right now. Goodbye.” So be weary when you schedule an appointment that a reschedule will be an absolute pain in your a$$ and will probably cost you more money.

I got my first tattoo with logan back a could months ago and it was great. He was great too. The staff upfront was so nice also. But the way Alex talked to me was not okay and because of this experience I won’t ever go back. I don’t recommend going to him at all cost. So rude

Great experience with Logan Issacson, he did a diamond with mountains and a tree (see picture) which I am super satisfied with. Walked in on a Friday and made an appointment for the following day, Saturday and was helped from there. $60 deposit for the appointment and the tattoo ended up costing $160, and I tipped on top of the $30. So, $190 in total for an awesome tattoo. The cleanliness and order of the shop is great, every time my artist switched out needles or poured more ink or anything that may contaminate, he switched gloves. I would highly recommend Speakeasy Tattoo and I would go to them again for my next. They also have tons of mountainy tattoo ideas in the lobby that really help to inspire your own tattoo, if you dont know what you want already.

Walked in with a friend a few months ago. She was looking for somewhere to get a piercing needle to pierce her ear herself and decided to ask some of the workers here. Piercing is not a smart thing to do outside of a professional shop but we did not know that at the time. Unfortunately the workers at Speakeasy (one of them a larger bearded dude) had no respectful way of conveying that message to her and instead yelled at my friend and called her an idiot. I was told this is one of the best places to get tattoos in Boone, but after that experience and after reading multiple other similar reviews of rude customer service experiences I will never let them put ink in my skin. Ill always look at the tattoo and be reminded of the ass holes that drew it instead of its significance.

This is my favorite place to get tattooed. I have been coming to speakeasy since 2009 and am more than satisfied with the work they put out. Everyone at the shop is professional and very friendly.I appreciate everything that speakeasy has and continues to do for me.

Walked in and inquired about an eyebrow piercing and was directed to a different shop due to them not having a piercer. That was great and the lady at the desk was awesome. I then asked about 3D tattoos as Ive been thinking about getting one for my calf and was met with flippant dismissive remarks from the 2 artists there and then subsequently ignored till I walked out. Definitely will not be back.

Speakeasy honestly cares about the customer, and understands that a tattoo is something someone wears forever. Greg is amazing and did an awesome cover up for me and is just a genuinely great guy. The shop is super clean and professional.

Had my first tattoo done here this past weekend as a walk-in! The only thing I felt nervous about was being treated differently because Im a newbie to this, BUT the staff there were so great and welcoming! Taka was the artist and I am so happy with how my little piece turned out! Thanks guys! :)

Got a couple tooth fillers and swans with my mother on a trip. This was one of my favorite shops in terms of people, by far. Everyone was helpful, present, and Logan Isaacson was a total badass and totally kind. The other people in the shop were all friendly and made conversation with just about everyone. The options are limited in that part of the state, but the area is lucky to have such a rad little spot.

I walked in on Sunday afternoon and the staff began getting me set up right away. Very clean and professional studio with very friendly staff. Excellent pricing and was all in all a very pleasant tattoo experience!

Place was dirty, staff was rude, tried to talk me out of what I wanted. Tattoo skills were subpar. I could do better with a stick and poke. I’ve gotten plenty of tattoos in my life and this is not a place I would recommend.

Hope their tattooing skills are better than their people skills. Staff was rude. Sucked the fun right out of the experience, that in result, was VERY short. The entire staff seemed to be annoyed and displeased on our arrival, as well as disgusted with our tattoo idea. Not to mention it was very obvious they purposely jacked up the pricing of our tattoos, as if they were trying to scare off our business or assumed we wouldn’t tip. I understand you pay for what you get with tattoos, I’ve had no problem doing so in the past, but the initiative here is was obvious. We felt very judged and disregarded overall. Needless to say, I (we) cannot recommend this location.

Incredible experience with Greg, Nicole and Parker at Speakeasy Tattoo Company in Boone. I had been waiting almost ten years to find a new artist when I strolled into Speakeasy last year. Right off the bat, I noticed the shop was clean, well kept, had friendly/knowledgeable staff, and a willingness to please the client.I have been back four times to have Greg work on my sleeves and I wont go anywhere else. Greg specializes in Japanese artwork, but also does great cover-ups as well. Greg has several wonderful staff tattoo artists, and brings in guest artists to keep the style creative in the shop.If you just want a plain old tattoo that you will have covered up in less than a year, go down the street. If you want an investment in permanent artwork, go to Speakeasy Tattoo Company in Boone, NC.Nuff said...

I went here for my friends first tattoo and i was very disappointed. The tattoo itself was beautiful which is why I gave this place two stars instead of none, but the tattoo artist (Alex) was very rude. My friend was nervous and instead of being nice, Alex was very passive aggressive which made the experience very bad. Overall, I do recommend this place but just don’t get a tattoo from Alex. Lol f alex

I have gotten multiple tattoos here and the staff is always helpful and timely. They do charge a little more, but it’s always worth it for the quality on something as permanent as this.

Im giving these guys 2 stars and Ill explain why.... I went in to receive a tat ..the moment I walked in, I was amazed. The owner Greg treated me with respect. Had a soft tone in his voice and answered my questions effectively with a smile. I met with the gentleman who would be doing my tat and we discussed an acceptable price range and scheduled me for later that day. So I waited. 4 hours for the next available appointment. ONLY TO BE SENT HOME when my time slot had finally arrived. The gentleman came out and politely said that he needed time to draw my tat and perfect it. I agreed, rescheduled for 2 days later and left. When I came back for my appointment, customer service had done a complete 360. The gentleman who was doing my tat.. hadnt started drawing it until I got there. NO-ONE else waiting but me, but it still took an hour after my scheduled appointment time to be seen. When I mentioned that I had to be gone by a certain time, 2 employees, one being the owners wife and the other Oscar, over the course of time that I was there, confronted me about being 15 minutes late for my appointment (Even tho I called and let them know ahead of time because of construction) remember, I was the only customer in the building and it was mid day. But anyways. They both said that I basically had no room to talk about how long they were making me wait because I was 15 minutes late. So after having been confronted, belittled, and disrespected I was beginning to feel disgruntled. FINALLY the tat guy Oscar came out and placed a piece of paper on my arm asking how I liked it. Then he went and stood behind the counter for a good 10 more minutes.and the owners wife FINALLY relayed the message to him saying that I needed to be gone by a certain time. I planned to give them 2 hours to write 2 words on my arm. It took him all of 45 minutes to complete my tat. But lied to me 3 times about pricing, timing, and taking 2 days to perfect my rough draft. He in fact drew my tat while I sat there for an hour more than I had already waited 2 days ago. So a total of 5 hours wasted because of false information. Everyone seemed to care about me as a customer of their establishment before I gave the non refundable 100$$ deposit the first day.. But upon coming back, CUSTOMER SERVICE went from a 10 to a 4. I instantly felt like an outcast the second day. I would have left if I knew I could get my deposit back. I am 85% SATISFIED with how my tat turned out, but I did argue with the tat guy before he put the tat on my arm. HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY and CONSISTENT CUSTOMER SERVICE IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST. I originally told these guys I would spread the word about their excellent people skills, the first day I was there.Unfortunately, I NOW RETRACT THAT STATEMENT. This was gonna be my new tat spot. It takes me an hour, one way, to even get to this shop, and I researched a couple different places before I chose which one to go to. But i liked the way this shop looked and felt on the inside. ALL FUNGSHWAIED and such. I can say, overall I feel let down. And probably WONT be sending my friends here. I worked in customer service for 10 years. IT NEEDS TO BE CONSISTENT. Hold your tongue and maintain honesty and professionalism to ensure repeat customers and referrals. sincerely disappointed customer. i hate to have to say any of this. I thought I had finally found my forever shop. p.s.Oscar really does do great work! I just wish he would have been honest when he said he needed a day or two to perfect my rough draft lettering. I would have saved time and gas and energy.
