Had a great lunch sandwich and delicious iced latte here today. The interior is so cute and I love how they support other local businesses. Big thanks to Sarah and the other baristas for their service! I will definitely be stopping by here again.

I came here once before within their first year, but theyve put in a new mural and really made the space more welcoming. Breakfast was good and well priced for a latte and a sandwich.Get the Perk-olater in the summer, it was very refreshing!

First time stopping in here. We got a linosaurus and pimento cheese sandwich. I got an iced chai with oat milk and my husband got a vanilla latte with whole milk. Everything was yummy. We will definitely make it a point to stop in again next time we travel through.

There is so much good about this place I can’t fit it in one post. They have the best chai latte around and their soups are amazing!! They also care about the community and support us immensely. When we moved into a new school building they provided us with the most delicious lunch boxes!! I might have had two... We love Perk!!🥰

Very friendly and good food too! I enjoyed an everything bagel with bacon egg and cheese. I was able to access WIFI and work on a proposal for work. I will be back!

I will literally go out of my way to get coffee here as opposed to anywhere else in the area. The coffee and breakfast sandwiches are far superior at the same or better prices than any chain. My family go at least twice a week and I’m sure they’d love to see your family as well. Great job, Perk!

A
Review №12

I love this shop! Not only is their food, tea, and coffee amazing, but the carry a ton of Gluten Free and Vegan options. Plus, they source of their item local. Great place to grab breakfast or lunch!

Great coffee. Great teas. Great food and bakery items. Great staff. You get the picture. I get The Lillian on a toasted whole wheat bagel. I also ask them to warm the tofu (trust me). They have Oatly milk which if you haven’t tried it is very delicious. I love getting their oat-chata with regular honey instead of spicy. Usually pretty busy in the mornings but such a great spot. Come here all the time.

Great neighborhood coffee place. Bagels were delicious!

A
Review №17

The coffee is great, you can tell the baristas know exactly what they are doing. The breakfast was okay, my spanakopita hand pie was dry, the scones were dry, and the bagel sandwich was just okay. Will return for the coffee but skip on breakfast items.

Tried Perk for the first time this morning and it was delicious! Ordered a Dirty Chai and Pimento Cheese Egg Puff with Everything Seasoning. The staff was also really sweet and put a lot of TLC into my drink! Great way to start the day.

Such a nice change (upgrade) to Starbucks! The latte I got was one of the best I’ve had in soooo long. I think it was called oat chai? Had cinnamon and honey. And the banana brownie was to die for. Definitely going back!P.S. they also have lots of great gluten free bakery options and oat/soy milk for those avoiding allergens.

A
Review №21

Don’t miss their house made syrups and their house specials like Perk-o-lator and OA-chata! Both great hot or iced!Love their selection of locally made items from small businesses of many varieties. Perfect spot to stop and grab a card, gift, and gift card for just about anyone and for any occasion! The menu provides lots of options for any time of day and they rotate a variety of local roasters for both drip coffee and espresso. One downside, more relevant when indoor seating potentially returns, is that the WiFi is usually spotty.

A
Review №22

Perk is a great little coffee shop hidden in a strip mall. Both their coffee and food is on point. Breakfast sandwich or walnut chip scone, you cant go wrong. They also serve local RVA coffee, including Recluse espresso! Definitely worth stopping by if you find yourself in Bon Air, or if you want to branch out from the standard RVA coffee scene.

My favorite spot ever! I always get an iced vanilla latte with oat milk. The coffee is delicious and their baked goods are insane, with plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. Its a positive, safe and inclusive space.

A
Review №27

I was thrilled when this locally owned and run coffee shop opened! Over the years I have enjoyed their gourmet coffee drinks or even a plain cup of joe. The food menu has something for all tastes and their baked goods are outstanding. The coffee shop stands alone on the above merit but for those who live in the neighborhood, Perks! Community involvement raises them above others. Perk! Is committed to giving back to the community and does so in so many different ways. They are an example of small community minded business done right.

The coffee is extremely bitter... really cute place local to me in Bon Air. Awesome staff. Id give 5 stars and visit more if the coffee were better. Apparently Im not alone. My neighbors say the same.

A

Perk has an excellent online ordering and contactless pickup system. Their coffee and baked goods are delicious, too.

A
Review №32

I highly recommend Perk! Delicious food and baked goods, drinks made just the way the customer likes them, friendly employees, and very chill atmosphere. I would also like to add that they have shown tremendous response during CoVid - putting their heart and soul into meeting the wants and needs of the customers in the safest way possible. Perk is the kind of place that makes you feel good as soon as you walk in or pull up to the curb in today’s times - like your home away from home.

A
Review №33

Visited Perk for the first time today in the world of social distancing. Read the signs on the door and menus; ordered coffee to go; it was great. There will likely be a negative review from the person in line ahead of us...according to her she had to wait 20 minutes for her sandwich (what a great problem to have right now)...maybe she’s diabetic and really needed it...and in her opinion had been treated very rudely from the start. She was incredibly irate and yelling at the staff, became enraged when they asked her to step back/wear her mask. They gave her a refund and she went on raging about how terrible it was as she got into her shiny silver Mercedes with a world peace dove personalized plate...🤔.Most of the reviews here are 4 stars so keep in mind: When you meet a jerk in the morning you met a jerk, when you meet them all day you’re probably the jerk. For Pete sake everyone take a breath and be reasonable to one another.

Good coffee. Locally owned cafe with super friendly baristas. Sandwiches and light fare suitable for breakfast or lunch. Homemade sweet treats. Chalkboard menu. Eclectic music that is not annoying. Childrens play area is small but good for kids 2 to 5. Parking is super easy. Best cafe in Bon Air!

Very nice atmosphere! Hot Chocolate was perfect for a cold day and I especially loved the kids play area for the little ones. We will definitely be returning to that wonderful cafe!

A
Review №39

I love Perk! They use local coffee. They make really great traditional coffee drinks and create their own delicious drinks. The food is really good too. Great option if you are vegan. The only downside to Perk is the size of the place. Its nice and quaintly quirky but it can be hard to find a place to sit.

A
Review №40

They had a breakfast frittata that was perfect. The customer service was great. I called at 5pm the night before to place a coffee catering order for 7am the next morning. They were super helpful and my order was waiting for me when I walked in.

A
Review №41

The staff was extremely aggressive toward my pregnant friend who walked into the shop to see the menu. She was not wearing a mask due to her medical issues. Three of the staff told her to leave, with one striding around the counter toward us. Although I purchased drinks and cookies, we felt unwelcome at an establishment with such clearly concentrated hostility.

Very nice experience here on a late Saturday morning around 1030. Crowd had cleared and service/food was exceptional. Tumeric latte is maybe one of the best things I have ever had. We will definitely return. Thanks, Perk!

.Wonderful little neighborhood café in Bon Air. Its probably the only one in the community, but its still my preferred meeting place for seeing friends. In fact, theyre more than happy to let me and my friends set up a board game and sit there binging on their coffee and food while we play - one employee even asked what I was playing and how the game was going. Its a little thing, but feeling welcome in a store you plan to spend the better part of your day in (so long as you keep buying, of course) makes this one easy to recommend to anyone in the neighborhood.

A
Review №44

Cute and friendly coffee shop with great parking. The food is fresh and delicious and the coffee is great too. They sell lots of different products to take home. There is a cute childrens play area with lots for little ones to do. Lots of seating for grown-ups and families. The staff is always polite and quick to serve customers.

A
Review №45

Bread and wrap were stale, they forgot our pour over, they served 5 others that came in after we ordered, before even starting our sandwiches, 2 people behind the counter, one didnt help serve at all, l was served potato salad without a utensil to eat it. This place used to be good, what has happened!? One good thing was Lamplighter coffee when we finally got it. We went 2p, not a busy time. Wont be back.

What a cute place! I was waiting on a breakfast catering order from Joe’s Inn and stopped in Perk. I ordered a Vanilla CaramelLatte. It was great. The staff was friendly and the pasteries and food coming out looked delicious. I’ll have to come by and try some.

Cool little place that I like to visit whenever Im in Bon Air. I have always been pleased with whatever food or drink Ive ordered.

A
Review №49

Weve now been to Perk twice and both times have had poor experiences. The setting is noisy, not a good place to get work done but it would be a good place if you had kids. It was reminiscent of a daycare. Both times the food has been abysmal. My girlfriends egg sandwich was clearly all microwaved food, you can eat something better at home. My egg omelette was disgusting, we ultimately threw out everything and went to Kroger to salvage breakfast. The one saving grace was that the drinks are decent but you can get a better everything at Crossroads up the street. Weve tried it twice and wont be back.

A great local shop in Bon Air, VA. It has a great coffee shop feel to match the amazing coffee that they serve. Staff are always incredibly friendly and helpful. Theres a small play are for kids. I havent had any of their lunch items but word of mouth has told me that its incredible. The only set back is the seating and furniture. Seating is predominantly bench style or metal chairs with somewhat shaky and squeaky tables. Id love to see a few more comfortable seats in order to grab a cup of coffee and read a book or study. BUT it doesnt set back Perk much. I wouldnt let it keep you from enjoying Perk! Its a must try when you are in the area.

A
Review №51

This little coffee shop is a great one to add to the list of places you meet with your friends. The menu is extremely limited (yet unique), as is the physical space (with art peppering the walls). However, I love that there is a place for kids to play that is walled off.

A friend and I meet for coffee and to chat a couple mornings a month so we went to several different coffee shops, large and small. Once we tried Perk that was it! Visiting different places over! We said This is our coffee shop! And the location is perfect for both of us! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!

Stopped here once with my wife and toddler. It reminds me of most small coffee shops. One big plus was they had a small sectioned off area for kids to play in with some toys and books. My kid enjoyed the play area and my wife and I were able to go out and have an actual conversation.

This is my favorite coffee shop. And just when I thought it couldnt get any better, today I had The Marge. By far the best latte of my life. Its a spin of the tumeric latte they serve and now I want it everyday. Thanks Marge for making it for me! ;) The service is always so wonderful. Its family friendly with a place for kids. I love that they make a point to welcome everyone. It just feels like community. Their coffee, even just the regular drip coffee is amazing. Oh! And their kombucha! ♡

Perk is a bon air treasure. Great coffee and they have small but really good menu of largely locally sourced food. I had a sandwich with tuna from bon air seafood. How much more bon air can you get? Oh and it was delicious.

A
Review №57

Love this place. Fresh pastries made in house, fresh hummus and soups and salad, and obviously, amazing coffee. Theres also a small place for children to play in but at the same time there are lots of tables for adults. You can get a mix of people any day of the week but no matter what the staff is always friendly and the drinks and food are always good.

Ive been hearing about this place ever since they opened and finally got the opportunity to visit not long ago. Theyve got a lovely food menu to choose from (the OHenry is to die for), and your typical tried-and-true coffee shop menu. I can only speak to the cold brew, but Id be amazed if the other drinks are any less than great.

Got to go here during a quick trip. Everyone was very friendly and both drinks I ordered (americano, oa-chata) were delicious. Ordered their vegan almond biscotti both times🤤. Also they provide a local kombucha which is pretty great. Will come back whenever I’m back in town!

A
Review №65

This was an odd experience. I stopped in on a Saturday late morning for a quick coffee & while it was understandably busy, it seemed like such a dour place. Tables were monopolized by single sitters spreading their stuff all over the place (it seemed like a small shop but they had a big toddler play area, which is an interesting choice), people were scowling, and maybe the cashier had been yelled at or something earlier because she looked at me like I was going to threaten her. I had been planning to sit and chill for a bit but I was kind of glad to get out of there.

A

Great location. Great food. The pour over was delicious. The coffee shop has an amazing area for parents to turn their kids loose and play.

A
Review №67

Perk has to be one of the friendliest and coziest coffee shop options in Richmond. It is the gem of Bon Air! Always a great selection of drip coffee. The hand pies are delicious and they have a great selection of other bites that always seem to be made with care and pride! All the esspresso drinks one can think of with decaf versions available. On top off all that an amazing play area for littles that makes every visit a fun one for everyone!

A

The breakfast cake here is to die for. coffee is reasonably priced and really good. lots of variety for all sorts of diets

A

Good food. Unique. Decaf was a bit too bitter though. And they forgot to give me my orange scone (just remembered I ordered one and never got it), which is delicious.

A
Review №70

Decent coffee.Nice prices. They have a killer Ristretto, and dont give you dirty looks when you order it with a scoop of vanilla iced cream on the side, and proceed to pour it into the cup of frozen dairy magic. The key is, to not break eye contact while you do it.You might have to train at home to get the motions to flow properly, but still, not an eyelid batted at my shenanigans. It also has a slight Christian undertone, thats not overt, but still there. So, if thats a deal breaker for you, Id go to one of the other coffee houses.Just not the one across the street. That one is downright overt.4/5

I ventured into PERK! last week. I was addressed efficiently and politely--not in a fake, my name is Tommy and Im going to be your server-kind-of-way, but like my sister might ask me on Christmas morning, would you like a cup of coffee? Interested and ready to get you one. I ordered a cappuccino and looked around as I waited. As I surveyed the creative childrens play area and what was going on all around me, I thought about how uninviting other places can be. At PERK! you can comfortably come in and have your moment no matter who you happen to be or be with. The coffee is very good. Temperature, beans, and blend were accurate and flavorful. I had an egg, turkey sausage, and havarti breakfast sandwich that was warm and pressed, delightful. Im so thankful that I grabbed a pimento cheese sandwich for lunch to-go. I could only eat half of it, but what a half (my daughter won the extra prize for her after school snack and LOVED the ham and pickles). PERK! delivers on its mission--to bring a downtown feel to Bon Air. I care about where I spend and I left feeling like I invested in a neighborhood (and scored a remarkable cup of coffee).

Their specialty drinks are eh, their muffins are great, and the atmosphere is ok. Its a hit or miss on how nice their workers are, but they work next to a Joes Inn so I cant fault them for being a little moody.
