Not only were we able to rent affordable instruments, Virginia put us in touch with one of South Floridas best string teachers to teach our kids. Then, when my son was ready for orchestra, she spent time explaining the different options in the area. Most importantly, when it was time to purchase a violin, Virginia created a monthly payment plan for me without charging interest. Breaking up the payments was the only way I was able to pay for the instrument and she didnt charge extra for this service. Amazing!

I am currently renting a violin (standard) for myself and a 15 viola (advanced) for my daughter and both instruments are quite enjoyable. Both Mr. and Mrs. Barnes are kind and extremely professional. I recently purchased a set of viola strings from Barnesviolins and appreciated the questions Tim and Virginia asked me to make sure they recommended strings that would produce the sound I was looking for. It is the first time I have ever had a string shop ask me questions before recommending strings! I only wish I lived closer so I could use Barnesviolins for all of my viola needs (repairs, adjustments, etc.)

I’ve been playing violin 40 years, over 20 professionally, and I would never give anyone else in south Florida my business, period. Tim and Virginia, aside from being incredible human beings, are exceptional at their work. Their prices are fair, their selection is great. If they don’t have it, they can get it, and quickly. Both are skilled instructors and well respected in the community down here. I’ve been personally dealing with Tim for the better part of 20 years, and I have nothing but praise for him, his ethics, his attention to detail and customer service. Could I save 2 bucks by ordering on amazon? Maybe. Would I? No way. It’s worth it to stop by a store where they know your name, feels like a true family, and where you know without a doubt you’ll get the best quality, best price and best service there is to be had in the area. If you haven’t seen these wonderful people yet, do yourself a big favor and stop by to see them. You won’t be disappointed.

Last week, I came over to look for a cello to bring to college as I prepared for an audition for the orchestra that was approaching ever so quickly. My daughter is an Ensign, stationed in Japan on the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan. While on deployment, she asked me to send her violin to her on the ship.
