Virtual Really taken to the next step! The Void is a store front in The Mall Of American that offers a few different VR experiences. (These change)Upon arriving each member fills out a profile/waiver. Next, groups of people (in my case 4 of us) are taken to room to watch a short video based on the experience you chose. We chose the Marvel Avengers experience, so it was an introduction to a new Iron Man and Black Panther suit. After the intro video you will be fitted with the VR gear, given some in instructions and taken to what looks like an elevator. You are then instructed to close your VR visor and the fun begins. The whole things last about 30 minutes from start to finish and it’s was a lot of fun.Lockers with locks are provided so no worries about your coat, purse, or other personal items.
The VOID was amazing overall! Its incredibly realistic, and at one point I was genuinely afraid of falling into lava... Its a little overpriced, but worth the experience if youve got a fun group you want to go with, or if youre looking for an extra special event. Of note, the vests are not made for smaller people! Im 53, and had to sinch the vest as small as it would go and it was still a little loose. So if youre a smaller adult or if you have a child youre going with, perhaps reconsider since this is such an expensive experience.
It was cool, but Id say $2/minute is pretty steep. $20 would be a more reasonable price. We were told it would be about a 30 min experience, but I think that included watching the intro, getting briefed, etc because the course was only a 10-15 min endeavor. I dont regret doing it, but I wouldnt go out of my way to do it again, either. Id say if you have the $30 to blow, go for it... But if youre choosing between that and an unlimited ride pass (like I was), Id skip it.
This is worth every penny. The staff are all great and welcoming. Ive been twice and will continue to go. I own a PSVR and its fine, just not the same! Both times we have had a guy with long hair name starts with an S. Hes been fantastic. Very humorous and helpful. I highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for something different and fun to do.
The experience was amazing! The augmented reality gear was lightweight and comfortable. My family had a blast. I would rate 5 stars but their check in process needs work - we checked in, filled out the waivers and ended up waiting 30 minutes past out scheduled time only to find that we werent added to the queue.
So worth it. Ive been a few times and Id definitely love to go more!
My family of four had a great time doing the Star Wars experience. Although it might seem kind of pricey $36 a person for under 30 minutes of fun, it was great entertainment for my two preteen boys to enjoy. (Min age is 10 yrs to play). VR has come a long way from when I was young. Supposedly The Avengers version is twice as long. Certain scenarios are only available on certain days you might want to call ahead and check availability
Just a warning to anyone else who has missing limbs or is an amputee- the VR programming will not work well for you..I have my four fingers amputated on my left hand and when I went to do the Avengers experience where you wear an Iron Man/Black Panther suit, the programming did not register my fingers so I was unable to use my left hand the entire time. It made it a little challenging to have a good time and took away from the overall experience.Overall, I was impressed by the technology and it was a cool concept and theme, but hopefully in the future they will make it to where everyone can enjoy it even if they arent built like everyone else.
Very fun, weve been twice (Avengers and Jumanji) and its been entertaining both times. The technology is pretty cool and the staff was very friendly. We had Simmons (I hope that was his name...) As our guide both times. He was great, very funny and helpful. We will be back again.
The VR tech was impressive, exceeding my expectation in every way. Our in-game avatars matched our movement quite closely, to the point where we could reach out and touch each other without feeling weird. I never felt disoriented or off balance, and at all times I felt totally immersed. I played the Star Wars experienced, and it was well worth the cost and is something I think everyone should experience at least once in their life. All the staff were informative and friendly and made me feel welcomed to return.
Great experience! Jumanji even though i thought to be under my excitement level it turned out to be awesome. Can see suitable for many ages. Good value for the time of the experience. I will be back.
Purchased Jumanji package for 9 year old children (they have a height requirement). They LOVED it. It was a great adventure, not too scary. They also refunded the tickets for the children who could not attend due to illness. There was no party room but otherwise I highly recommend the experience.
They told me that they had us at 3:30 pm but we ended up waiting an extra 20 minutes standing and they ended up telling us that they couldnt get us in due to technical issues! One other thing is that youll get paired with other random people who are waiting. Which means the queue doesnt really make sense if youre going to be paired with random people who just paid at the same time your appointment was. Please dont waste your time here like how our group did
The experience was amazing. Our guide was funny, sweet, amazing, and very efficient. We did the Jumanji experience and it felt like you were in the movie. Very fun and I recommend for young adults.
First time VR experience and it was amazing. Very interactive, great with friends and even random people! Wish there were more than 2 options to choose from but overall I had a great time!
Truly hard to describe. Its not inexpensive, so whether the $30+ per person for 15 minutes is worth it will be, as with most things, completely subjective. With that said, the experience is...transformative. please note we have younger kids and one did not like the experience (too scary) and the backpacks contain all the hardware needed for the AI, so theyre pretty heavy (though didnt prevent our kids from participating, just an FYI that theyre heavier than they look).
I went with my girlfriend and my best friend to your Avengers experience at MOA. I will for sure stop by again for another experience. Your staff explained the experience rules very well and got us into our experience in a timely manner. Prices are very reasonable and the experience was a blast! Keep up the good work!
This was one of the coolest experiences Ive had. This was my first time at the mall and so I had a lot of questions. Lucy and Andrea were so helpful in explaining everything and so I pulled the trigger on both Nicodemus and Star Wars. BOTH WAS SO COOL! Nicodemus was like being inside a real movie. Star Wars was a like being in the movie but interactive like a game as well. So cool. Anyways, thank you Andrea / Lucy for such a great experience!
This place is the start of what we will see in the future. Amazing experience. Really looking forward to more scenarios
Just ran through the Star Wars experience with my son (13) - and had a blast.Staff were awesome, the technology was impressive and the story was engaging. Definitely recommend it.Was it a bit expensive for the amount of time inside? Maybe. Certainly felt worth it, though...
This place is AWESOME. We did the Jumanji one and it was one of the coolest experience of my life. You will love it and it is so reasonably priced considering how fun it is.
Employees are so friendly. Such a fun experience. Been there twice already. Really recommend it!
Tried the Star Wars experience and it was really cool but WAY overpriced for what you get. They say the experience lasts for 30 minutes but that is from end to end (paying, intro video, fitting and finally playing). Total actual game time is only about 10 mins of which you pay almost $40 for plus the sound cut out and there were glitches with position so it really kills the immersion. I really dont like the deception with time. The staff was nice but for the price it wasnt worth it.
The experience is amazing, but the price is steep. $35 for about fifteen minutes in the Star Wars game. That being said it is probably worth it, would definitely be worth it if there was ever a sale.
I would have given it a 1 star, but in the end my family enjoyed themselves. The reason I am giving this a 2 star is due the horrible check-in system. Knowing it would be busy on a Saturday we stopped in a few days prior and booked a slot. We also showed up 15 minutes early to check in and and sign the waiver information. We then waited 40 minutes past our scheduled time because the staff hadnt marked our family down as checked in.Something needs to change with this system because it is stressing out paying customers and clearly the staff as well. Customer service was lacking in every single staff member. I would love to bring my family back but the cost and poor service just isnt worth it.
Interesting experience to try. Customer service is very poor at best. Please think about putting up a monitor with who is up and coming up party groups.
I enjoyed this experience with my 11 year old daughter and it was so much fun. I cant wait to go back.
I had such a fun time! The whole time I thought I was in space and I could feel the heat on me and it all felt so real! I would highly recommend this and I would totally do it again.
Total rip-off! I seriously think these 2 prior reviews here are planted/bogus. We paid $50 x 5 kids (with a coupon!) and they were done in 20 minutes and just mildly impressed. The Escape Room, XD Ride and Nickelodeon Universe rides are far and away better deals.
My bf and I booked the Jumanji experience because the other experiences were sold out. Once we checked-in we were only informed to fill out the waiver and wait in line. Three things annoyed me - first of all, there were no seating available in the waiting line. Youre literally lining up outside of the store into the mall. I feel that if youre going to have customers wait for more than 10 minutes, then please provide seating. Secondly, there were only two groups in front of us. The day we went, the VOID was having technical difficulties and no one bothered to inform us why our wait was one hour long. Third, we were then paired with another random couple who was at the back of the line, only to be split up when the room was available, and having to decide which couple would go first. The worker didnt communicate anything to my bf or me. I was annoyed because we had the earlier appointment and priority obviously because we were already at the head of the line. The game visual and experience was fine; however the 15 minutes experience was not worth the wait nor money. I told my bf, our Oculus quest provided better visual quality than the VOID. Its an okay experience, but be weary of any technical difficulties the day youre going and the wait.
Really incredible technology on display here. It’s essentially a backpack that contains a powerful computer which powers a VR headset. Everything is new and feels really well made. The experience itself is really immersive, you feel very present in the scenes you’re experiencing. It’s hard to describe beyond that, but the feeling is pretty profound. I can’t wait to see Fourier applications of this technology.
Super awesome. Highly recommend it. It is worth every penny. We did the Star Wars one and man you can feel the heat from the lava planet we were on. (Mustafar) Planning on doing the Avengers next! You walk through a small controlled arena with your VR headset and vest on so its interactive to the max.
My experience was mid August of 2019. 2 stars because the check-in process was laughable. The employee did not know how to count cash lol he had to recount literally 4 times and lost track multiple times. I was on vacay so I didnt mind but I mean really, can you count? I had never seen someone struggle with that situation. He looked competent, but apparently was not. The employees were slow at getting their tasks complete. The experience was fun, but overpriced for the amount of time you are allowed in there. No seating for waiting, be prepared. Better management and employees would make this establishment a must go see if it was ran correctly, people would rave about it. Otherwise, I think people are going to sum up The VOID as decent experience but the check-in and employees are weigh down the good and makes the cost not worth it.
This place is amazing best VR experience Ive ever had!!! I got a chance to go during the Beta testing and it was totally worth it I would gladly do the same simulation over and over again!! Definitely worth the cost.
Definitely try the star wars experience, as someone who has a vr set up at home I was expecting to not be that impressed but the hand tracking is really solid and the overall experience had me giggling the whole time. My only real complaint is that it went by too fast.
What a fantastic experience. There were times during the experience where I was fully immersed in what was going on around me. Highly recommended.
Awesome experience. Kind of spendy for the time provided but understandably so with the technology offered. Will go again.
Really immersive and fun. Have done Dreamscape in LA before and actually preferred this a bit more since you could interact more and shoot during the mission (we did the Avengers one). Felt like we were a part of the movies!
I have never done VR before. What a blast. We did the Star Wars episode. I recommend it for all ages, yes Grandma too.
Taps all of your senses besides taste, this and some great cuisine made for an unforgettable Valentines day.. We do think it should go longer for the price though..45 minutes for Jumanji but a blast non-the-uless.
This was SO much fun. However, it was expensive and there were lots of glitches the software. I would do it again, but its not perfect.
First time through this with my son and his friends. The kids had a fun time with the 17 minute VR experience. Seemed that was all OK. But the front desk staff was VERY rude. Not helpful at all and the waiver process needs a ton of improvement.Update to this review. I had emailed my feedback to the Void customer care site. Don from the Void emailed me back very promptly. Apologized for my experience and promised to update the waiver system and to go back to staff with more training. He also gave me 4 free vouchers for a return trip. VERY impressed and as result ive uppped my 3 star rating to a 5. With someone in charge like that, I have no doubt the Void will continue to do well to serve its patrons.
Great VR experience with high fidelity, immersive sound and enough tactile feedback to keep you from falling out of the illusion. The staff were excellent at helping get guests situated and engaged in the experiences. Definitely recommended.
Always wanted to try this experience as I saw the ads on Instagram. And yesterday got to experience both the Star Wars and Jumanji experience. Having little experience with stationary VR this was active and immersive. One of the coolest experiences that I am still raving about. The Star Wars was great. As soon as you put the gear on and the instructor lets you loose with a team consisting 4 people, you go on this cool active experience and guns blasting. You ride in a ship, walk along metal planks and shoot creatures and storm troopers.Jumanji was my favorite one. I was Kevin hart who could hear animals talk yet others didn’t. Every character had their own specialty. It was a team exercise. Walking along cliffs and fighting it was great experience.
This place is a really immersive experience and I would highly recommend going, whether youre alone or with a group of friends. I highly recommend the guide Lucy who is the coolest.
Lucy was so helpful and made the experience such a blast! I highly recommend stopping by and going through this, it was so much fun and unlike anything I’ve ever done.
Pretty cool experience. Gets you excited for what VR could be in the future.
Amazing felt like I was there in the vr and would go again a million more times.
I came here with some friends for a birthday and my device kept going black. Once midway through the Jumanji event, and twice more at launch. I kept asking them to just refund me my money as I was no long interested. They kept insisting to restart my device, until finally just giving me a new set altogether. All in all, I spent more time resetting, and switching devices than I did actually running the simulation. No refund, discount, or any form of apologies were given.
So first I want to say something that is NOT clear on their website and we wouldve loved to know ahead of time. The groups are 4 at a time. We were very disappointed to find this out when our group of 6 showed up all booked for what we thought was the same time slot. The employee who checked us in really couldnt care less and half made it sound like it was our fault for not reading something on the website. I checked while we waited and nope, doesnt say it anywhere during booking. Real bad start to our event. We did both Star Wars and Jumanji. Star Wars was much like the Oculus experience where its an on rails interactive movie. Cool for fans Im sure but as I have an Oculus Quest with the Star Wars experiences on it I wasnt wowd but maybe partially because Ive done something like it before. I will say its nice that they add 4D effects. Id say this is a go for die hard Star Wars fans but its V E R Y short (probably about 10 mins actually in game time) so if you dont love Star Wars Id recommend passing especially at the retail price of $35pp.Jumanji was more fun and you play as the characters from the movies and its more interactive and entertaining. If you have to pick between these two Id do jumanji. If you havent experimented much with VR tech, and dont have a different opportunity to, then go for it. Im interested in trying some of the other ones but dont know if Ill bother.
I had a set appointment time for the Jumanji game with my niece and nephew. We waited 45 minutes past this appointment time, with absolutely no reassurance as to when we’d be starting. Needless to say it was a huge disappointment, even for the wait.
Had a really fun time with Avengers: Damage Control. Jake was an awesome guide.
Pretty wack, for the price of four of their 20 minute experiences you could literally buy a PlayStation virtual reality headset and get countless hours of better quality gaming than this. Kicking myself for spending $50 for this.
We went here on a whim, booking a reservation the same day we were in the Mall. It was my special someones birthday and she wanted to do the Star Wars experience, but it was booked out, so we signed up for Jumanji. After showing up, we found that the place was pretty busy. It was during the holidays, so that was understandable. After waiting a while for our reservation to start, we were given an apology that things were running late and taking a bit longer than expected. Not a big deal.I somewhat jokingly said (figured it was worth a shot) that if they wanted to, they could sneak us into the line for the Star Wars reservations as it was my GFs birthday and that was our first choice anyway. To my surprise, they took me seriously. After a few more minutes, the host came back and said they would sneak us in the line for Stars Wars, and even though it was more expensive than Jumanji, we didnt need to pay anything extra. To our delights we are suiting up for Star Wars!I wont give away too much about the simulation story-line....that isnt necessary for the review. The experience was unbelievable. Ive done VR before, but nothing like this where the entire VR experience is also overlaying real life doors, walkways, and an interactive environment. It was surprising to reach out to things in the VR world, and actually touch a physical button or doorway as well with your hand that is part of the VR world overlay. When told to pick up a blaster, it was weird to reach out and actually have some sort of physical blaster in my hand that was the same shape and feel as the VR one I was seeing. The gear is also such that its extremely immersive. Not only with the sounds around you, but that all of your team is micd up and you can hear them all clearly. When walking out onto a platform above lava, we all got a little bit of vertigo, but quickly overcame it. Still, that little bit of fear walking along narrow platforms above lava never disappeared which made the experience that much more real. Even the suits were taptic. Meaning, they vibrated in different locations where you were taking hits from incoming fire. Even your back....yes...my GF laughingly shot me in the back with her blaster to see if was working. ;)The entire experience was superb and instantly hooked the both of us into coming back again. Thank you for making my GFs birthday special!
SO fun! The Star Wars experience was a blast, but the price was just a little steep for the length, but it was still incredible
We went to the Star wars one. Really great experience, but a little short for the price when the half hour block includes the briefing and suit up.
Wow! Did not expect that. If its your first time just ask one of the employees to go through with you. You wont regret it. I did the star wars one. I will most likely go again today.
Great to do with kids. A little short though.
Jumanji was awesome! Although I regret not pressing “cake”. Would I actually get cake?
Did not expect to have as much fun at this place as we did. Sure it cost a bit to get in, but woah. Once your in its unexplainable.
The experience is great but it is super short. It only lasted 15 minutes.
Highly recommend. One of a kind experience!
Cool VR (Virtual Reality) experience. There are different games to choose from. I played the Nicademus steampunk/horror one with 3 friends. You choose your avatar before starting (which is how your friends will see you in-game) then you watch a quick video to intro the feel and objectives. Then you suit up, with a headset and vest/chestpiece, then head into the game space. The Nicademus game was a mixture of exploration in a steampunk exhibit and some simple puzzle solving. There are some in-game manipulatives and environment items to interact with. Walking through spiderwebs was eerie. Several jump-scares left me paranoid like going through a haunted house.Regarding the cost, even if you shell out thousands for a VR system yourself, you still wont get the spacial experience or the tactile effects of heat, wind, and body feedback that the VOID provides. The different games can have different pricing, and prices for different times of day/days of week. Plan ahead to save some $. Keep an eye out for coupons like this months buy-three get one free. Our outfitter, Jake, was great. For my first time in VR, the 15-20 min felt like a good length of time, esp for a horror game. I was a bit loopy for a few minutes after walking out. A great experience of what VR can do, and it will be interesting to watch as the VOID evolves.
We did Jumanji and had a great time
My 10 year old loved it!
I HAD SO MUCH FUN!!
Book ahead, on weekends you may still experience a wait with a booking.
Amazing Experience
Loved it!
Worth a go!
