This hardware store carries more than I ever think it will. I prefer to shop here first to buy locally over other chain hardware stores. You may pay a couple of dollars more but the service, knowledge, and experience their staff provides you while shopping is incomparable. Hands down will continue to shop at Bloomington Hardware before going elsewhere if needed.

I am not well-versed at all when it comes to hardware and had a horrible time with rusted bolts on a license plate. An incredibly wonderful employee I think could sense that I was quite lost, went above and beyond to help. Ive always loved Bloomington Hardware but this experience was just the icing on the cake. I sorry of grew up in hardware stores, and I really like this one! If its not simple enough to locate what I need, there is always someone to help. Even the customers are courteous and masked!

First I was like hmm.. hardware.. sounds too big for my little things I guess.. Now I always head to this place when I need to fix something. The store is well-organized with quality products. The staffs know how to help customers. They dont always offer the best price, but it still worth considering what I get from them. They listen to me and give me their best solutions - sometimes they even tell me how to solve my problem without buying anything from them!

An employee reached out to immediately upon my entrance, I explained what I needed, he went looking for what would work for my project and found the exact thing I needed. Very pleasant, very knowledgeable and also the checkout lady was very nice.

We asked for help buying a filter for out furnace and they sold us the wrong one, even though we told them the size we needed. When we came back shortly after to return it they would not accept the unused filter even though it was nearly $50 and they had told us it would definitely work. They do not stand behind their word and do not care about their customers

Bloomington Hardware has been great during COVID-19, as they are always! We appreciate that they have continued doing curbside pickup instead of in-store shopping to protect the health of their employees and the public. I messaged them on Facebook and they had excellent customer service. We needed a variety of things - potting soil, an adhesive for the dishwasher, silicone for a leaky sink - and they helped us with everything, including a video consultation on the leaky sink. Thanks so much to this local business for excellent service and care.

Bought a master mechanic countersink bit set. The product does not work as advertised. There is no way to test this without opening the package. The bit set had a half inch or more of run out right out of the package. They would not take the product back even for store credit or exchange. This is the only store that I’ve ever experienced this with. They have a strangle hold on the east side of Bloomington. I try to support this local business but they do not make it easy.

Closed on Sunday?!? Closed at 5pm on Saturday?!? Boo. Now I have to drive to Menards. Not sure why I even bother trying to shop here. Their hours are constantly changing and never convenient for people who work for a living. But at least they used to be open on Sundays.

They may not have what you need, but if they do, youll pay too much for it.Also, for reasons beyond understanding, they seasonally change their closing time (summer vs winter). I was here at 7:15 one day when they closed at 7 and was one of 4 customers who showed up to unexpectedly find out they were closed.

Well this is quite surprising, and I’ll keep it short as well as keep the current crisis situation in mind, however, I HAD been coming here for a LONG time until today when I pulled up, I noticed they were doing pickup orders only, they advertised to call it in. So as I pull in I see one other customer picking up there items, normal right? I park in there driveway and call, and I ask if I could pickup a small part for around 7$ to fix my kitchen sink, (They are advertising they close at 6, and this is at 440 Im on the phone), it would have taken less then 10 minutes or the whole transaction, but instead I’m told, “yes we have the part you need, but no you can’t pick it up today we aren’t accepting anymore orders,” those exact words. The store doesn’t close for over another hour and I could visibly see workers leaning around doing nothing. I don’t know if this would bother anyone else but I will never go back, I felt very disrespected by the attendants attitude and employees work ethic. Over something so small to...Seems like a clubby place to buy items that are over priced anyways. I try to support local but they are the definition of entitlement where it’s not necessary.

This store has a wealth of various hardware products, which is fantastic, but they also sell local goods like jams and jellies, and these are a great treat as well. I enjoy shopping here simply to look through the wide variety of items available. The actual hardware products are reasonably priced and the staff are friendly and helpful.

I understand that Bloomington Hardware has changed ownership. I went in to purchase chickenwire. The shelf price said $12.99. When I went to the cash register, it rang up at $17.99. I raised the discrepancy with the clerk, took him back to show him the shelf where I found the advertised price. We compared the bar code numbers and indeed it was listed as $12.99. The clerk called over the store manager who refused to honor the advertised and listed shelf price. In addition, he was rather rude. Needless to say, I did not purchase the chicken wire. Although I like to shop local, I don’t think this behavior is very local. I will go elsewhere.

Great service and impressive selection for such a small store. Part of the Tru-value co-op, but still locally owned and run. More expensive than the big chains, but worth keeping them around because of exceptional service and proximity.

I like to shop in Bloomington True Value Hardware Store whenever possible. Even though their prices are a little higher than the big, corporate, box stores. You will always get good, friendly service from them. Real easy to get in and out, too.

If youre into DIY this is a great place to go. They have experienced staff that are extremely helpful and will make sure youre getting the right products for the job. Prices are right and quality is excellent.

I dont know about the negative reviews others wrote about this place, but the time I spent there was outstanding! ! The staff was very customer service friendly and helpful. I told them what I was looking for and they knew exactly where it was. They helped me until I had what I wanted, paid for it and out the door. Highly recommend this place for novice do it yourselfers!

This place used to be wonderful. Maybe a little pricey for some things but worth it for the convenience. Im not sure what has changed but my last several trips have been horrible. Long lines, poor help, etc.. Unfortunately I think I have to head over to Bear Hardware until I hear they have things figured out or there is new management. Bummer.

All the employees were very kind and helpful except for one lady who micromanaged my checkout process. I was buying a lot of lightbulbs, so I had each kind of lightbulb I was buying laid out and letting the cashier know how many of each I was buying so she could scan it accordingly. The employee who stepped in made the poor cashier start all over and made her scan every single item individually, which made the process take 15 minutes, when it could have taken 5. The lady told me I probably didnt know exactly how many of each thing I was buying, which was quite frankly insulting because I had a list. It really soured my experience of the business and stressed me out :(

Terrible prices. Awful customer service. I needed to swap out a deadbolt. When I bought the original deadbolt, I asked the cashier if I could bring it right back if it didnt fit. She told me thats fine, but to try to keep the packaging in order. So I took very good care of the package while unboxing it. I found the deadbolt wasnt the right type (needed a very specific type) and brought it back less than an hour after I bought it with everything seated as it was when I bought it. The manager handling my return grinned when he realized I forgot the tiny 1 page instruction manual and said he wouldnt issue me a refund because the product needed to be in sellable condition. Ill be on my way back to the store for a third time today and cant guarantee they wont find something else to nitpick.I support local businesses and dont want to see them die, but this kind of behavior is a quick way to get replaced by Amazon. Just this week, I returned a very expensive computer monitor to Amazon without the cables, the box, or the manual and got all of my money back before I even shipped the thing. Save your time and money and if you cant wait for something to come on Amazon, shop anywhere else in town.

A great place, not corporate at all with a wonderful staff always there to help you, guide you in anything you are trying to accomplish from big to small project regardless of your level of expertise. Another important aspect: its right there, close to Kroger on College Mall and unless you want, really want to drive to the other side of town to other harware retailers this Bloomington Hardware is the place to go!

I was initially a little shocked at the past negative reviews. At the same time, this is the only hardware store on the east side / Kroger area and I do not like having to travel across town to go shop at Kleindorfers even if it is my favorite. I actually have good experiences here at Bloomington Hardware. The staff are usually friendly and while the store is indeed small, it has mostly something from every category.

The staff here is excellent! They are extremely knowledgeable & helpful - especially for those of us who are not handy around the house. I find the prices a little higher than other places, but I think its well worth it not to get lost, ignored, & completely frustrated in a large store. Its the only hardware store on the east side of town, & I hope it stays that way.

Small business that is hard to work with. Wont take returns without a receipt. Staff not very knowledgeable either. Better off to go to Lowes

Love going to Bloomington Hardware True Values small town atmosphere but great selection of merchandise with friendly super knowledgeable staff. Stuff can be a bit more expensive than in alienating big box stores but staff will solve so many of your problems + you get a free tutorial anytime you have a question that shopping there is a real deal. Cant imagine life without the support and help I get there. Been shopping there for 37 years, and get the same lovely experience each time.
