I recently got my annual eye exam and purchased a new pair of glasses at Insights Optical. Dr. Witthoft was awesome throughout the exam process but, critically (to me), she actively sought to get to know me as a new patient as well as listened to what I hoped to achieve with new glasses. Many thanks. The glasses are working precisely as Id hoped. The staff was also terrific throughout. Ill certainly be returning and look forward to building a long term relationship with them.

Sadly I have to leave a bad review. Purchased a pair of glasses, spent over $500 after insurance, so assumed I was getting a quality, top of the line pair of glasses. Got the highest quality lenses and protection from glare and Blue Light. After finally wearing them about 30 times, one of the lenses started protruding out the front of the frames, so was no longer flush with the frame. It produced a sharp edge and even grabbed/caught my hair when I took them off and on. When my husband took them in to be fixed, as we assumed the lense was just needing pushing back in, he was told this is just how they were made. Keep in mind the other side is perfectly flush and my eyes are not bad, my prescription is low. When I called to say no, this is not acceptable, I was told it was a flaw that was missed and we can see if they can fix it. Dropped them off to be fixed. Picked them up today and nope. Not fixed. Instead now of the lense protruding out the front and creating a sharp edge, that side protrudes in, towards my face and eye. So the lab never fixed it, instead they clearly pushed that lense in so it looks fixed from the front. Its not, and I now have one side of my glasses still with a sharp edge and protruding out towards my eye. I am so disappointed, I have never spent this much on my glasses and yet have never once had this issue from my old optometry office. Never once, even when spending far less. Insights Optical prides themselves on being top of the line and high quality but the attitude both my husband and I were given by their office manager, and still to end up with flawed $500+ glasses is just unacceptable. I expected better, and as an office professional in a nearby health care office, know that patients should be treated better. So A for my exam at Insights Optical, but I would suggest you purchase glasses elsewhere.Editing to add that the office contacted me today, 10/26, and has offered to try again on fixing the lense protrusion on my glasses. I will update my review as needed, hoping they can fix the lense and make it flush with the frames like the other side is.

Wow, what a pleasant visit! Everyone was super friendly. The doctor and the entire staff were very helpful and very knowledgeable about every question I had. Thank you to all the wonderful people at Insights Optical. Hands down the most pleasant “doctor visit “ I have ever had in my entire 64 years. I had a VERY thorough eye exam, picked out my frames and was on my way home in 45 minutes. Now that ladies and gentlemen is what is known as excellent customer service! Very well done.

The staff is always friendly! I love the text notification reminders. The optometrist is always always a joy to see and very mindful of having excellent bedside manner. A very pleasant person.

Everyone in the office was helpful. Each part of exam was explained & performed professionally. I wasnt sure about seeing a new doctor in place of the original doctors. However, Dr. Whitthoft did a very thorough exam & explained each part of the exam as she did it. Then she went over a summary of her findings, showed me the photos of the inside of each eye, & explained what I was looking at & what these test results meant now & in the future. I was very impressed & think the original doctors made an excellent choice for Insights. I feel happy & comfortable having Insights & Dr. Whitthoft for my eye care now & in the future.

I have been a patient for at least15 yrs. The staff is always friendly and go out of their way to make sure the eyewear you buy looks great and meets your needs. Dr. Short provides a thorough exam and discusses all the test result with you.

The office personnel were very courteous and professional. I was told at desk that they would be able to provide medical care but did not accept my Medicare supplement and there would be no benefit towards glasses. I’m disappointed with this but do understand since I have experience with insurance billing and copayment. The Optomitrist was very thorough, knowledgeable, and kind.

Front staff is always incredibly polite, professional, and helpful. Dr. Short does a great job of explaining what is going on with your eyes and takes the time to make sure your prescription is correct. She also switched my contacts after hearing about my usage to save me both time and money.

The staff and Drs are the most friendliest bunch ever. My daughter has been in glasses since 8 months old and she doesn’t like to take em off. 🥰I would hate to go anywhere else oh and let me just say as far as the corona virus they was 100 plus on top of the cleanliness . JOB WELL DONE 👍🏼💯

This was my first appointment at Insights. The Dr. was very thorough and took time to be very precise in my prescription. The techs and office staff were very friendly and helpful in finding the right frames and completing my exam. I would recommend Insights to family and friends and look forward to getting my new glasses.

Insights Optical has a friendly staff. They are very knowledgeable about their profession. Dr. Diane Short is an excellent eye doctor. I’ve seen her son Zachary, who is also an eye doctor. They are the best and I highly recommend them.

My family and I have been going to Insights for some time. Im reviewing today because I am so impressed with the recently-brought-on Dr. Witthoft.Witthofts focus on dry eye and eye fatigue is a valuable addition to Insights. But what I most appreciated today was Witthofts willingness to answer questions, whether they were relevant to my own eyes or just asked out of curiosity. In contrast to doctors that are too busy to take unnecessary questions seriously, Witthoft was pleased with the interest in the topic, and answered them readily and expertly. Witthoft is clearly on top of the research. In addition to getting a new prescription, I actually learned useful stuff about my eyes today. Thank you Dr. Witthoft & Insights.

Quick, friendly, experienced staff! Pricing seems reasonable (insurance covers most of my visits). No complaints. I’d recommend it to everyone.

I was called and a message was left on my phone to come and pick up my contacts, I went to the office, was wearing a mask and stood 6 feet away, the girl ask if she could help me and I stated I was there to pick up contacts, She said very snooty do you have an appointment? I said I am just picking up contacts didn’t know I needed one.She then said I have 10 minutes before my next appt I guess I can help you.My whole family have been patients here for along time, We will be glad to take our business elsewhere where we are appreciated

Highly recommend! Dr. Zach Short is very kind, personable, and professional. He takes the time to explain and discuss your eye care with you. He answers questions thoroughly and in a way you can understand; he’s a wonderful optometrist. The office personnel is also very friendly and helpful. When we received the frightening news from our pediatrician that our 4 year old son had little to no vision in one eye, Insights Optical was our first call. They sensed our angst and were able to get us in quickly. Dr. Short provided us with a thorough pediatric eye exam and reassured us that his diagnosis was common and treatable. The staff then took great care in finding the perfect glasses for our son, all while making the process fun for him. I would give Insight Optical a 10 star if it was an option!

Fantastic optometry experience. I went in for a contact fitting and prescription renewal, and the service was thorough, quick and friendly. I visited Insights to get my vision checked after having some difficulty with night time driving. The examination was very informative and I was able to have all my questions answered. The staff was very helpful in picking out my first pair of glasses. Overall a very good experience.

As an adult I have never had eye problems, which makes it different when 2 out of my 3 children have a need for glasses. Both Dr Diane, Dr Zac Short and staff are great with my kids and my kids enjoy their appointments. Both Drs are very informative, patient and trustworthy.....just what one hopes for in a Dr.

I really wish optometrists would quit hiding behind the klishe “ we want to provide the highest quality care” when they continuously ask for your medical insurance card so they can charge things like digital camera images with your insurance knowing that most insurance companies will not pay. Their to lazy to look at your eyes as they were trained and take notes to reference back to at your next visit. I was ask for my medical card when I made the appointment, again when I checked in and again by the eye doctor. Really! No means no.

They were very helpful in picking out my glasses.

I went to get my eyes examined and asked the doctor while in the exam room why my eyes might be gooey all day every day. I am not a doctor so was asking to make sure it wasnt a medical issue.The response was do you have allergies? I said no, not really And the response was oh ok. Nothing more was mentioned.I got the rest of my exam, ordered my lenses and went back a week later to pick them up. They popped them into my frames and the girl said Can you see?. I wear bifocals and wasnt given a thing to look at to see if I could actually see.I gave them a few days for my eyes to adjust, which they did not. I couldnt see a thing except distance. I couldnt see anything at all except straight ahead. I went to another facility and asked if they would put my old lenses back in my frames. Thank goodness Insights did give me back my old lenses.I was able to see again and went the first chance I had back to the office and told them my lenses werent correct. I had to leave and come back yet again when the lab tech was in to talk to them.They argued that the prescription was correct and perhaps the brand of lenses they ordered was causing the issue. They said they would order new ones in the brand I wear now.I went back 4 more times and find a printed note on the door saying they were closed on the following Saturdays (with a list of days).The office hours are Monday - Saturday....except the days they decide to be closed and post in on the door.I called the office and asked for a refund. They called back and the girl was rude and stated that I needed to call to see if they were open, write down the days they are closed, and so on.Then I asked what would be done if they were not right when I finally did get there to get them and she said well thats putting the cart before the horseMore rude things were said and I am not confident at all that I will ever get my lenses corrected and can assure you I wont be back.

I have been a patient at Insights Optical for years and have always had a pleasant experience. The selection of frames is great and the doctors and staff are always helpful. My whole family now comes to Insights, including my 3 yr old daughter. Dr. Zac made her feel at ease and truly a fun and happy experience for her first eye exam. I would highly recommend Dr. Zac and Dr. Diane as a family eye care provider.

Just having moved to Bloomington, I needed to find a new eye doctor. Over the past few years I had been frustrated by the apparent fact that I would need trifocals as well as reading glasses.Plus I was constantly raising my head to see. Each year I tried a new eye doctor with the same results. But now, Insights eliminated the reading glasses. I can see my whole world with just the one pair and they are comfortable, attractive, and no more neck exercises required! Thank you Insights! The office staff were attentive, helpful, and welcoming. In 2013 during a routine pediatric exam for my infant son, the pediatrician thought he saw a problem with my sons eye. I immediately called Dr. Zac Short. He calmed my nerves from the beginning of the exam and was amazing with my son, who was less than a year old. He explained things to me about the eye in lay terms and was able to assure me things were ok right there during the exam. From that point forward I started seeing Dr. Short for my eye exams/glasses and also referred my father. In addition the staff is friendly and their eyewear selection is expansive. I couldnt be happier with Dr. Zac Short and Insights Optical!
