My experience w/ CarMax was fan-freaking-tastic. Im moving out of state for a job and needed to sell my car before the move. It was so incredibly easy to complete the appraisal online and get an offer. The offer itself was really great and honestly higher than I anticipated. I was able to schedule an appointment, go into my local CarMax, and complete the transaction all in like, 30-45 minutes. In total it probably only took me about an hour or so to sell my car. I didnt feel pressured to buy or trade in. I was able to do the transaction seamlessly. The representative at the office, Maddy, was extremely nice as well.

Viewed a BMW for 3 days online. Went into the store to see similar models. Gave the car info I looked at online to the front desk man. He confirmed the vehicle. The next day I went online to have the vehicle shipped and that EXACT car increased $1000. When I called the store they said they cannot change the price at their location. No other vehicles on the page changed. I won’t shop there again.

Ive seen a lot of disparaging feedback on the Carmax facebook page, however I take this with a grain of sand, since no one goes on Sears web site to brag about how good their Craftsman hammer is, but let the head fall off the thing and theyre screaming their lungs out. Frankly I think people just make bad choices, As for our car, its basically new (1310 miles at time of purchase), and it features one of Chryslers best engines (The 3.6L Pentastar). Everything works, the car is smooth, solid, loaded with tech features, and gets good gas mileage. Like all the other Chryslers, Dodges, jeeps and Plymouths weve owned over the years, I have no doubt that this car will last well beyond the payment book. As for the dealership, their system is fast, efficient, and open aired (No hotbox treatment). The purchase was completed in less than HALF the time that would have been required at a conventional dealership, and that suited me well. The only reason I gave them a 4 is their non negotiable pricing. In this instance the pricing was fair, but some cars might require a bit of haggling. overall I am pleased with my decision to do business with them.

We received a quote on line based on Edmonds and made an appointment online. Our sales person bought the car for the amount quoted online. It fast and easy and our sales person Kayla was great.

I reserved the car i was interested took it for a short test when i went back i filled out a loan application and within a few minutes had 3 offers.

Everything went smoothly, however, all the phone calls seem to go through a call center and you may not actually be speaking to someone AT the location you are trying to contact. This may be due to covid (working from home, etc), or just an easier way to field calls and be less burdensome to local dealership employees. Either way, it was unexpected, and there was a gap in communication when in person at the dealership. The vehicle we purchased was an excellent price, in excellent condition and located 100 miles north in a different CarMax dealership. It took 10 days to be shipped which was longer than the initial estimate. Our trade in was valued fairly and we were happy with the price. Other than those issues, it was a pleasant transaction and would work with them again.

I live in Washington, IL. I purchased a 2017 Toyota Highlander in Georgia and Carmax shipped to Bloomington, IL. I was told it would take up to two weeks and that is exactly what it took. After initiating the deal I remembered a question that I had forgotten to ask - was the previous lessee a smoker? I called my contact back and was told I could check it out when the car arrived in Bloomington. Not wanting to wait two weeks to find out that I didnt want the car, I attempted to call the dealership in Georgia. I got a different contact who immediately had someone go out to the car and check it out - no smell of smoke.When the car arrived in Bloomington, my wife and I drove the 43 miles to check it out. I popped the hood and noticed enough pine needles in the back of the engine compartment to build a couple of birds nests -- the salesperson immediately removed them. It was a rainy day when we took the car for a test drive. Everything was fine and I liked the car, except the windshield wipers didnt do a very good job. I mentioned about the wipers to the salesperson and he remarked that he had noticed that when he brought the car up for the test drive. Their shop wasnt open, so they purchased some new wipers and gave them to me to install when we got home. There was only one key fob and I was told I would have to come back (86 mile round trip) on the day when their key fob guy was there. We got a phone call on the following Monday saying we could get a new key fob at a local Toyota dealership. That was good news. A few days later when the weather had finally cleared, I was cleaning the windshield and realized that the old wipers (both were actually broken) had deeply scratched the windshield on both the passenger and driver sides. I emailed my salesperson three times to ask if Carmax would replace the windshield. I got no response. I tried calling and eventually was connected to a different salesperson. He immediately set up a purchase order to have the windshield replaced at SafeLite. I was very pleased that Carmax would cover the cost. I was later told my original salesperson had been on vacation.You tout that your cars go through a lot of inspections. I assume that includes opening the hood. I found the pine needles; I complained about the windshield wipers not working well, which your salesman was aware of; I found the scratches on the windshield; and I complained about there being a single key fob. Had I never brought any of these items up, they never would have been dealt with.Ultimately, I am pleased with the car and would consider using Carmax again but believe all of these items should have been dealt with before I ever saw the car.

Throughout my years of buying used cars. Ive had issues with inheriting other peoples car troubles when I bought used cars over the years. My wife recommended that we should go to carmax when I went to Byrider. ( Please note: Byrider has a friendly staff, but lacks a lot more in their quality for cars including their finance options. If I wouldve stayed and start with them. I would be broke for their payment options.) My Carmax specialist was Mr. Austin. He was polite, knowledgeable and explained everything very well. Mr. Austin thank you for recommending this awesome vehicle to me. Youve been a lot help. I dont recommend any other place but Carmax. Mr. Austin also taught me that my old trade in actually 3 to 4 other owners. That explains a lot to why it was road hard and put away wet. I was sort of sad for trading my vehicle in, but felt great to get something that was recommended from a professional such as Mr. Austin. Ive seen some of the reviews and have to disagree with most of them. They have plenty of inventory and if not, they are willing to have one car shipped to their location. ( thats great I might add). They have cars fitting my budget no different than any other customer out there. Thats on the person on how they build their credit, spend their money, and life variables. You cant blame anyone other than yourself. I looked at higher priced vehicles on the lot and almost walked away until my wife pointed out the vehicles credit ratings and payment listings. What made my experience even better is when Mr. Austin pointed out the car that I recently bought with no pressure. This is newest car that Ive ever bought from being 2 years old. No repairs are needed. Nothing wrong with the alignment. New tires. Great brakes, rotors. Its like flying a jet. I feel safer than my previous vehicle. Especially when winter is coming.

Reserved vehicle, test drove and said we would be back to get it the following Thursday or Friday. Showed up with a check, they would not honor the deal. Will not ever buy there again and will spread the word to not do business there.

They make everything so easy. I had a problem with my Credit Card and they helped me solve it and waited for few days without rushing me for they payment, the kept my car on hold until I solved my problem with the payment. I had a vehicle transferred to this store from Tinley Park, IL. Although you cannot control the speed of the mail (title, delivery of the car, etc) they were willing to work with me & make things work with my weird work schedule and needs.The particular car I was looking to purchase had some minor imperfections on the paint of the inside of the car. They were on it and off getting it painted to look its very best — for no additional cost. Although there was some miscommunication between the sales rep and the technician about whether the car was ready or not... within a few days the car was ready for me to take home. The only thing that I have to say negative about CarMax, they do not detail/clean the cars OR if they do, they do not clean them very well as I found two very old pieces of produce under the front seats (avocado & lime - thank god the car didn’t smell/no mess)Fast forward 3 months later. I notice there is some pealing of the paint on the grill of the car. I contact CarMax Bloomington & they were more than willing to fit me in to their schedule to get it looked at. I thought it would be a long shot but they were taking a look at what they could do. They gave me two options, replace the grill or the technician could touch it up himself. Plus they did it for free! It looks a lot better!I can say it was not a “perfect” experience, however it wouldn’t make me have a negative view of the company/store or prevent me from referring anyone to the company**there is no real room for negation in the prices which is a downfall, plus weird store hours...

These wonderful people were just that. They kept me up to date, informed and were so helpful. They even refunded what I paid to have the car shipped because there was a glitch and the title wasnt there when I went to test drive it and purchase it. $449 back for a few days inconvenience​. This is where I will go next time I buy a car.

I picked the car over the phone when the internet specialist read me the description. The moved the car from a different store to my local store a day earlier than expected. My salesman was one of the nicest person Ive ever met in sales & when a couple of glitches came with my financing they didnt give up. On CarMax!In my particular case, patience was required as it took awhile to complete the entire process. Of course the first thing was having the truck shipped across country to my state. If a person was shopping off their local CarMax lot, it would have took a lot less time.The people were friendly and professional AND gave me the best price on a trade-in, that exceeded KBBs top quote!! But, they want good trade ins, and this may not be true for every car... I utilized their financing and got a very competitive rate, quick and easy!I would highly recommend shopping with CarMax, especially if you want to find a great deal!

My experience at CarMax couldnt have been better! I had different needs, which the staff bent over backwards to meet for me. Things were also complicated by winter weather, and me driving from Peoria, but, again they were very accommodating. They even overnighted my sunglasses to me when I left them in my trade-in! Highly recommended.

The team at the local office were super friendly and helpful from the moment I walked in. They immediately owned the all aspects of the deal. The staff was very polite and professional. The building is also nice. Unfortunately I was shocked at the low ball appraisal for my car. Its a 2015 vehicle with 15k miles. Its in perfect condition. KBB said my car was worth 24k trade in and 26k private party. I was offered 19k. What a joke. I also looked at their cars while I waited and was not impressed.One star for a courteous staff.

Best car buying experience ever! I hadnt purchased a car in 7 years and really dreaded it. But we did all of our shopping on-line and searched across the country via their website. The website has everything about the car including its history. Then, when we found one in another city, had it transferred for free to Bloomington! I purchased it and decided in 24 hrs that I did not like it. No problem! They transferred ANOTHER vehicle in and traded it out without any questions or problems. They even allowed me to drive the 1st one until I had the replacement, within a week, and I am so happy! Staff was always very friendly and helpful! I would recommend Carmax to just about anyone!
