Had full exhaust work done last week, great job, clean welds. The truck sounds phenomenal! Great communication, they called to verify exactly what I wanted to do instead of guessing. Fair pricing and cool people. The ladies who answer the phone and work the front are always willing to help or get answers. Will definitely be back when needed.

Gist: Gearheads is a small business that provides great service at a price lower than the competition.I called Gearheads on a Tuesday needing a new radiator, coolant reservoir, and thermostat for my 2012 Tahoe before taking a trip on Saturday. Although extremely busy, Gearheads was willing to understand my predicament and fit me in. They called me with a quote on Wednesday with an affordable quote that was well under what others had quoted me at. By Thursday, the techs at Gearheads had my car ready to go and I was able to make 200mi trip without any issue from the new parts. Overall, a great local small business which I plan on recommending in the future.

An absolutely great shop, especially if your vehicle is to tall for other shops. Mine is about 10.5 feet and heavily customized. Most places will not touch it because that. My heater stopped working while passing through and was negative temperatures. The got me in immediately and fixed the problem quick. Also, seems to be a very veteran oriented business. As a combat veteran I appreciated all the flags they had up.

I brought a vehicle in for inspection and they showed me how bad the condition was. After returning said vehicle I brought in my new vehicle and they inspected and repaired for a fraction of other shops I will not mention. I would recommend them to anyone! Honesty and integrity go a long way.

Had an appointment set at 8am on Thursday.... and it wasn’t going well. Little be said, the owner called an explained the situation and it did make things a lot better. Small communication problem on the work that had been finished. But, it was cleared up with good customer service from the boss man! 1 star to at least a 4 or 5. Respectable place to get work done! First rating was too quick! Down to earth people!

After reading Gearheads Garage reviews and ratings I figured Id found a good business to bring my ailing car to. I knew basically what was going on with my ride... but I dont try to open up cans of worms on my own anymore!The people that I spoke to over the phone and in person were very professional, accommodating and explained what they found. Which was pretty much what I figured. So that was good.The mechanic also noted another specific situation that would need to be addressed, though they left that to my decision when I may want to repair it... or not. No pressure, just honest info.So all in all maintenance applied to my vehicle was done in good time and for a very reasonable price. The cars been running fine, no hiccups.... so far pretty good.... I can recommend these guyz.

Okay so after getting a call from Viva himself and spending countless hours trying to find a mechanic that could solve my issues I brought it in to him today because he wanted to make good on his promise to fix whatever issues I was having. Not even 20 mins in his shop and my car is running the way its meant to. It had to do with ecu and my keep alive memory, it was making my engine run ruff and not properly idle. Car now reading no codes present and sounds smooth . I couldnt be happier with how professional and quick he was able to solve my issue. I will definitely return for future service to be done on my car.

I had my left front wheel bearing replaced by Gearheads about a month ago and then needed a speed sensor replaced. I didnt understand why I needed the speed sensor replaced so I went to another shop to get a second opinion. The new shop replaced my speed sensor, but my ABS light was still on and I had no traction control.I then decided to bring my car back into Gearheads to take a look. Chris was the mechanic who looked at it and was EXTREMELY nice and transparent about why my traction control wasnt working. Turns out, the OTHER shop damaged something when installing the speed sensor. Chris allowed me to go on a test drive and showed me exactly what his computer was saying. He then showed me exactly where the damage was once we went back in the garage.Chris and Shirley assured me that they would fix the problem free of charge even though the other shop damaged the original work that Gearheads did. I was immediately taken back and VERY gracious.I cant thank this team enough for working with me and being honest. I wont be going back to another shop. Gearheads is the ONLY place in town I trust. Thank you!!

I had to bring my Rabbit in for wheel bearing replacement and the staff and crew were extremely patient and knowledgeable about my VW which made me extremely comfortable and relax simply because I work on my own car so any DIYer knows how difficult it can be to release their lil baby into the hands of someone they hardly know and this great group of people understood my needs and made sure to accommodate them. Gearheads Garage came to our rescue. While visiting family in Bloomington our 2017 F-150 Lariat failed to start in 20 degree temperatures. We were returning to Virginia the next day and needed a quality mechanic to diagnose the problem and fix it. It wasn’t a dead battery which I replaced the night before; it was the starter. Gearheads fixed the truck within hours and got us back on the road. We returned home with no mechanical issues. Awesome service! Thumbs up from Virginia!

I took my 16 explorer to Gearheads to have the rear AC lines replaced. Unfortunately the factory AC lines are on nation wide back order for at least 2 months.(because fords are junk and they don’t stand behind there product) anyway they had new AC lines made and now is air working great. They were professional and very easy to work with. The first time i actually paid less than original estimate and car was finished when they said it would be done. Definitely the only shop I’ll use in the future and I highly recommend them to anybody lookin for excellent service!

Outstanding mechanic shop. I came in with my old van just to double check my motors timing, and they hooked it up. I pulled in and was pulling out fifteen minutes later. These folks do have a timing gun. They know what theyre doing with old school motors. My 95 E350 with a 351W 5.8L V8 and an E4OD transmission had 396,806.9 miles in this photo, and its still running like a champ. Thanks, yall! We love you!

Went to these guys to get brake/rotor work done. They did a fantastic job!About a week later, I was hearing a clicking sound coming from the right side of my vehicle near my wheel bearing area. I took the car back in, half expecting them to charge me to fix the problem.They didnt! One of the great mechanics, Chris I believe, even went with me for a test drive to check out what it was. He went above and beyond what Ive seen from other places. Went back to the shop, checked it out, diagnosed it, and they didnt charge. Very refreshing to see! Will be back eventually to fix this problem.Give these great guys a check when youre having car problems!

Had an exhaust leak on my 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander AWD.Competitor looked at my vehicle said I needed a new muffler as the muffler completely rotted out. Cost of new muffler was $450 to $600 for parts alone and didnt know if He could get one other than at the dealership.Strange diagnosis as noise was coming from mid vehicle not by the muffler and i could visually see my muffler and it didnt look rotted out.Called Gearheads to get a second opinion as the reviews were good. Told to bring it by now without an appointment. Had my car on hoist within 10 mins of arrival. Showed me it wasnt the muffler at all. It was a small piece of bad pipe between the catalytic converter and resonator and a bad support bracket. $125 fix and they could do it immediately. WOW just saved a minimum of $325 in parts alone not to mention the labor costs as well. Great service and price and absolutely love the AMERICAN CAN DO PRIDE AND SPIRIT this shop proudly displays. Car fixed and couldnt be happier. The only thing I didnt like was almost everyone smokes openly in the shop, which I SUPPORT IS THEIR CHOICE and 100% agree they have every right to make these decisions on what happens in their shop. However I dont and smoke and when you leave you smell like a cigarette. Smokers cant smell this but the rest of us non smokers can . Bottom line God love em all and Ill definitely be back smokers or not, but just an FYI from a regular guy who just doesnt like smelling like a cigarette. You decide if saving tons of cash and an honest repair is worth it. Easy choice for me and I definitely recommend this shop ! MERICA 🇺🇸

Glad I found this place, recently purchased an aftermarket performance exhaust for my wrx and needed help with installation. I called a couple other places in the area but their quotes were too outrageous. Came here and was given an excellent price not to mention was installed right away. All i can say is if you ever break down anywhere close to this town call these people! Taking my son to College, of course something had to happen! They took care of arranging my tow to the shop and got my car back on the road so I could make it back home. Really went out of their way and squeezed me in their schedule. Very good mechanics!

I am remiss in not posting this sooner. Had extensive front end work done on my vintage 1990 Dodge van, October of 2019. There was a little delay in ordering parts and communication but overall the quality and cost was satisfactory. I am very pleased with the results.

This was my first time coming here and I needed an oil change. Absolutely great service from everyone there!...from the boss, to all the workers. Everyone is very nice, respectful, and they know what they’re doing. They also went out of there way to inform me and do research about another issue about rodents hiding under my car. I’m very pleased with the job they did on my car and was back on the road in 20-25min. Definitely coming back

My son and I were driving a pickup truck back to MN where we live when the fuel pump went out on us. We had the truck towed to Gearheads. They worked us in that day and were very reasonable on the repair. They also checked it over to make sure it was road worthy. We are very grateful for their help.

An me not being a “car guy” they broke it down, so I could understand the repair. I have had issues with Midas in the past (one issue fixed, another pops up) and after my experience here I am sticking with Gearheads.

I brought in my 13 camaro with some mufflers for installation. These guys did a great job lining everything up and setting up the rest of the exhaust and tips so that everything looked perfect. Had an alignment done after they noticed tie rod end play and we replaced thoseViva, and the guys here did a great job on my car and I’ll definitely be back for any other work I need!

We broke down on Sat and they were the only place open. They got us back on the road Monday morning (parts stores only open Mon-Fri). Drove us to a motel, rescued my cell phone and were genuinely pleasant to work with. We highly recommend them.

Hands down the best auto repair in this part of Illinois! Customer service is amazing and the owner Viva is a genius. I took my car to two auto repair shops previously and they couldn’t find out what was wrong with my car. Viva figured out in 5 minutes. Needed new brakes/rotors and had a blown flex pipe. Gear heads has been the best mechanic shop Ive taken my cars too. Ive got a dodge pick up 3 other shops could not diagnose. It took one day at gear heads and they had it solved. Next time Im definitely calling gear heads and skipping the head ache with other shops

Ive never left a review for an automotive shop before. Ive never had an experience that warranted it. That changed today! I needed my front brakes fixed (pads and rotors) and got several quotes, some twice as much as what Gearheads quoted me. Everyone I came into contact with there was friendly. They know what theyre doing and charge you a fair price. On top of that, theyre so quick. It was the best experience Ive ever had when it comes to car repairs. I would recommend them to anyone!

Had my niece take her car there for what the dealership told her was an air compressor issue. Gearheads fixed the hoses and charged her air. No compressor problem. Thank you for your honesty and we got out of there cheaper than quoted. This is the best garage around!!!

The latest work they did for me I just picked up is on my 1971 Challenger. They removed the old 383 and put in a fresh 440, new ring and pinion, and a pistol grip 4 speed. 100% pleased. 2nd review edit: If you know about cars and dont have a problem arguing away all the extra tack ons they will try and hit you with its not a bad shop.The quality of work has been good thus far, but following my last estimate i will never be returning to the shop.Wanted to get a estimate on a timing belt replacement, nothing more nothing less. The estimate came back for just over $1k because they tried to tack on a water pump as a needed service (it is not, and was not needed at all.) The funny part about it too, is they wanted to replace the water pump cause we are there and to be proactive but they didnt plan on replacing the valve cover gasket (which while not 100% mandatory is very highly recommend and most likely will be required when doing a timing job on this vehicle).went and got all the work they said they were going to do minus the water pump for ~50% of what they quoted meBut besides the greed, and attempt to add on un-need services, the workmanship seems to be quality, and the service is always very fast.If you are on a budget, try to avoid, but if you need fast service done right and dont mind paying a premium then not a bad choice.

So far the AC recharge is doing well. They got me in when I asked, offered to pick me up when it was done, and got the work done on time. I appreciate the work ethic and very polite staff. I do most my own work but didn’t have the gear to pull the vacuum and recharge the system. I just might find more for them to do in the future !

They will dog you in prices and don’t even know what they’re doing. The only reason they have so many 5-star reviews is because they make you while staring at your phone as you do so, in order for a cheaper price. Which is still going to be extremely high.

Usually I dont leave reviews, but for this shop I definitely will. I called in and spoke to the owner, I think Viva is his name. I had a weird noise going on with my car, and he said to come on in. We went for a test drive, he put it up in the air, showed me what was wrong. He wrote my estimate, and even gave me a ride to work. Great experience, great people, and they even picked me up later on when the car was done. Thank you so much for everything Highly recommend.

How rude!!!I called for a quote on a water pump repair and they were the ONLY mechanic in town that said they HAD to replace the timing chain with my water pump. There is a tool that hold the timing chain so that I doesn’t move in the repair. Their quote was over $600 different then EVERY OTHER place in Bloomington normal, I called them all. That’s not even the part that is so irritating, they told me the quote and I POLITELY said “thank you I am going to pass”, given the difference, and Shirley just hung up on me! How unprofessional.

My son goes to school in Normal which is two hours from home. We have a mechanic near our home that typically does the maintenance and repairs on his car and luckily in the 3 1/2 years at college nothing has come up that couldnt wait.
