Mike and his team are in one word...FANTASTIC.My daughter had an accident in town and needed a new radiator. Mike and his team were more than fair, provided exceptional service and turned the car around quickly so that my daughter could leave town for a family event. We have used Mike before but I am always shocked but then reminded of just how awesome this business is. They epitomize customer service, fairness and professionalism. We had a car that wouldn’t turn over, thought it was the starter. Called North Main and they had it towed, diagnosed (needed battery only), and repaired in less than 24 hours - after being told by a couple of other local repairs shops that it would be several weeks before they could even look at it. Top notch customer service.

Brought my truck in to replace a very rusted and corroded starter that I couldnt get off myself. The actual cost was under what they quoted and it was done the next day! They even installed my own part I brought in for no extra charge. The new starter was not working right initially, but they took it back in and worked on it after hours and fixed a coincidental issue at no charge.

I just payed over 200 dollars for my exhaust to be changed and I still have the old one on it and now it evens worse hanging off scraping the bottom of my car messing it up I’ve had the most basic work needed done to my car and this man mike has been working on it for almost 3 months now I regret I didn’t take it somewhere else because they wasted so much of my time and money and I was nothing but nice and tried to pay them for there time. Eventually in the past week I got upset because my car should’ve been fixed months ago literally the only good experience I had with them was the first one where they just changed my oil because they said that’s all that was wrong with it.. people don’t waste your time nor money.

I went to get my purge valve replaced and the next week my car stalled on the highway. I made a new appointment at Campus Automotive and today they told me that they did not even replace my purge valve when I paid for them to replace my purge valve.

He did a great job with my inspection sticker, did oil change, plus did a great job with brakes, excellent service, very please!

I had the most incredible experience at this repair shop. I was traveling from out of town and my car broke down. I am unfamiliar with the area and my car has been having issues while on the road. I had a lot of anxiety about the whole situation, and if I would be able to get it looked at at a reasonable price. I also am only in town for a day so I wouldnt have had time to leave it somewhere and I was very panicked on what to do. I was referred here by a local and Mike fit me right in even though he was trying to close up early. He was so honest and straightforward about the situation and didnt charge me anything since he didnt see anything warranting a major repair. This was a situation that could have been monopolized on so easily but Mike did the total opposite and went way above and beyond to help me out without benefitting at all. He was just a kind person who cared about helping out as best he could before profiting off of the situation. This is a rare thing to experience especially in a business and auto repair shop setting, and I appreciated it tremendously. I was worried when I saw a few negative reviews, but Mike was really a good human before anything else and it was a wonderful thing to experience in a difficult, anxiety ridden situation. I was in a minor pinch today and these guys REALLY helped me out. Got out of work at 5:30 with a flat tire and no one was open. I called them just to check and they were able to service me even though wThey closed at 5 but happened to be in late and they patched my tire in less than 30 minutes. They were amazingly sweet and well priced. Highly recommend.

I absolutely recommend this place(ask for Mike) to anyone. After being turned away twice at other shops, Mike greeted me with a smile even tho it was late in the afternoon. I had trouble starting my car and explained everything to Mike. He was so helpful and explained to me that my battery was bad. He took the time to test it and make sure everything looked right. I had a bad experience at M&M and he showed me what great customer service looks like. I was having a bad time until I visited this shop, I really appreciated Mike helping me figure out what I should do not for the profit but as a kind human.

Took my Wrangler here to get a heater core replaced which cost me about $500, which was expected. They did perfectly fine with that, but when I picked up my Jeep, only my drivers side speaker was working. I took it back and they said that my right side speaker was bad so they replaced it, which I appreciated. However all of my speakers, drivers side, passengers side, middle console, and my two speakers for the roof of my Jeep, were working PERFECT when I dropped my car off, and now suddenly they arent. I assumed a few wires were just disconnected because I put in my radio myself about a year ago and everything has been working great since. Now suddenly your telling me my speakers have gone bad the SECOND I drop it off for you guys to replace my heater core? Yeah right. Im grateful they replaced my heater core, but Im never going back if Im going to be guaranteed that theyre just going to mess up another part of my car. Im only taking my Jeep to my home mechanic now. Do the job right or dont do it at all.

I found my battery dead and the vehicle could not be started. The tow truck towed my car to their store, the person checked my vehicle said my alternator is bad and needed to be replaced, and asked for over 370 dollars for replacing. As to battery, they said that they can only check the battery when it is charged, so I needed to replace alternator first then I can know what else needed to be replaced.Then I decided to pay extra money towing the car to the other store, guess what, only battery was bad, alternator was good and is still good now, works pretty well, functional. At last all I spent was 150 dollars on getting a new battery (changing battery doesnt need any labor hour).I asked the person who replaced the battery for me: would be hard for knowing if an alternator is good or bad? The person just said: no, it is easy to see.I am very happy about the decision I made that day, even though that cost me extra 70 dollars of towing service. I cant imagine how much money I would spend if I stayed in this store.Anyway, I am just sharing the experience, I dont want to think the worst of the people.

Misdiagnosed my vehicle’s AC system, costing me over $150 for another shop to fix. North Main wanted $400 to replace a part that the other shop said was working perfectly fine. In fact, nothing was needed at all. Not only did they misdiagnose my car and try to charge me $400 to replace a working part, they also took out all the coolant from my AC and didn’t put it back, hence the $150 I had to pay to the other shop. In all fairness, I called back North Main to ask about the discrepancy. They said the other shop couldn’t find the issue because they had just replaced the coolant, and that the AC would for sure stop working in a few days unless I paid them $400 to replace the part. One week later and it’s working fine. Not sure if they’re lying or genuinely don’t know what they’re doing, but I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt. Either way, go somewhere else.

My daughter took the car to school this year and of course a issue developed. Being a car guy I like to do my own work so Im pickey who works on it. North Main Auto looked at car and did a temporary fix, it worked and no charge. Unfortunately I didnt get to work on it and same issue developed again. I said to go ahead and fix it all the way. Assume price on repair!!! Very nice on the phone and it seems they care, you just dont get that anymore. Im sure Ill be back. Great place.

If I could give a lower rating I would. These people are con artists. Took my vehicle in for inspection, oil change, and to have snow tires put on. Not only was their staff rude, they didnt put my snow tires on after I asked 3 times. They tried to tell me I needed to replace my rack and pinion. After doing some research (which I found I had none of the issues one would have if they had a back rack and pinion) I sought a second opinion to which I was told there was absolutely nothing wrong with my car and, voila, my car passed inspection. North Main Auto is nothing but a bunch of crooks.

Always fair. They are willing to repair broken parts instead of replace them when it is cost effective.

I needed to get my car inspected so I gave these guys a call after a friend recommended them. The man on the phone was very friendly and said I could come right in. He gave me a ~45 minute ETA and my car was done about 20 minutes later. He asked if I do my own maintenance (I do) and he gave me a few things to track that he noticed during the inspection. He didnt try to sell me on any service and offered his input down the road. Very friendly local, non-commercial shop that I would happily return to.

My car was a total mess, the inside would get wet whenever it rained, my headlight was fogged up on the inside, and my brake pads sounded like they needed to be replaced. My car ended up here multiple times and Mike was so helpful and got everything done for me for so much cheaper than I expected! I could not recommend this place more highly!!

Needed a state inspection and waited until 3 days before it was due (smart). Called 2 other places who said it would be a few days before they could fit me in. I called North Main Auto Repair and to my surprise they said I could bring my car in right away. Was in and out in less than 10 minutes. The employees were nice and the service was quick. Were from Wi and could of gotten screwed down here.WE DID NOT here at north main auto repair. Originally they thought we needed a rear wheel hub assembly replacement at $350. Once the owner Mike took the tire off he had seen 2 caliper bolts were missing. Replaced them right away and called us to pick up the van. This could of easily went the wrong way with some shops and we would of been out $350. Honesty is priceless! Thank You Mike and the crew over there!

Got reamed by these guys. Take your business to a small independent shop if a fair price is important to you. This place caters to college kids with their daddys credit cards, because the prices are unbelievably high for simple repairs like fuel pumps etc. When a place charges separately for a diagnosis, you should know what youre in for. Never again.

My roommate took her vehicle here for an inspection. They failed her car and told her that she needed a new muffler for $250. When she asked for a breakdown of prices they were unable to give her one. She took it to Prices Fork for a second opinion and they said that the only way a car can be failed for a muffler is if it is leaking. They told her that he muffler was not and passed her with no problems. In short, North Main Auto tried to scam my roommate out of $250. Do NOT take your vehicle here.

Excellent service! There was a nail in one of my cars tires yesterday morning and I had to be at work at 8:30 am. One of the guys at NMAR was incredibly helpful/nice, fixed my tire and made sure I was out of there by 8:10 am so I wouldnt be late to work. Moreover, he didnt charge me because the warning light wouldnt go out. He said to bring the car back and pay once the light turned off, which it did eventually. Id totally recommend this place

Great customer service. However, be aware with brush washes. It caused a few scratches across my car. Also did not receive the advertised $2 off discount along with my student discount which was given to other reviews Ive read. Nice people, because of scratches may wash myself for future.

Honestly I couldnt say enough great things about this shop. As a girl on a budget who knows nothing about cars I know from experience and many years later that this shop does what you need at the best price anywhere in town. Ask for Mike and he will do everything he can for you. I dropped my car off without even telling him one night and got a call first thing the next morning about what was wrong with it and the prices of parts. This place is the only place you want to take your car.

They fed me some BS about my brake pads needing replaced so I could pass inspection. The guy said it was down to metal on metal and even said he could hear them when I pulled in. It had passed inspection in WV less than a week before so I knew they were fine. Took it to Hokie Honda and sure enough it passed without any problems. He was clearly trying to sell me services I didnt need.

This shop has integrity. I highly recommend it. They made a mistake while working on my car, but they took full responsibility for it. They funded the fix at another shop (because I was out of the state) and offered to compensate me for my time. Ill be going back.

Held my car for a week for a failed inspection assured me it would be done by that Friday come to find out they cant even get the parts they failed me for after assuring Id be good to go by that Friday. Very unprofessional and I dont reccomend them.

Went for state inspection and they told me I will need to change brakes. Brakes were just ab year old with 5000 miles on them but they insisted they were worn off. Then they charged me 150$ and only changed brake pad of right tyre. I knew they were over selling me because I was in a hurry so I just got it done. Will never go again.

Woke up to a flat tire and read the raving reviews on here about this place so I gave them a call. They said to bring it right in so after switching out for the donut I brought it over and was out within 15 minutes. Cost me $12 to to patch, remount and refill the tire. Awesome! Will return!

Ive been going here for a couple of years. Its true that they are much less expensive than other places. They also do generally good work most of the time.My only two problems were: One time when I asked them to replace my rear brake pads with some pads I had already purchased. However, I needed to get my entire calipers replaced, which already came with pads (according to them). They replaced the calipers and then forgot to give me back the pads I had given them that they hadnt used.The second problem was that, a few weeks after that, I noticed that two lug nuts on that particular tire were missing. I cant prove that it was their fault, but they were the last ones who messed with that tire. Luckily, no harm came of it.Otherwise, theyve been pretty good.

I left my car here to adjust my parking brake. Two hours later when I came back, the guy said he had adjusted it and charged $25 for it. But the problem is still there and actually nothing changed!!!! The parking brake still cannot halt the car even on a slight slope when shift lever on Neutral, just exactly the same as before I put my car here. The guy explained that he cannot adjust it further or else the brake pad will keep friction with the brake rotor, which means he cannot fix my problem and still charged $25 for it. $25 for diagnose? I rate it one star because I spent $25 here for nothing!

Waited til the last day for my safety inspection and luckily they had time to do it right on the spot. Took about 15 minutes and checked out fine. Perhaps the shortest time Ive ever waited.

1st experience: Had a flat tire, rolled my way there without calling, was patched and filled tire in 15 minutes for $20.2nd Experience: Scheduled an oil change was finished in two hours also ~$20ish3rd Experience: Car would not start, thought my life was over, fixed multiple components of my engine within 4 hours (it wouldve taken multiple days at another shop) for a fair price. Absolutely love this place they do not rip off college kids at all

I have been to this place many times because I don’t know other places, each time they fix an issue in my car, they destroy some other things, last time I went there, I asked for an issue that he did fix a few weeks ago, and he told me that I’m lier that the car is not the same! Then I gave him the receipt! He is not respectful and he is so expensive comparing to other outos I found!

My car broke down and left me stranded, I had my car towed here because it was the closest auto shop. I had to call several times to get updates on my car, and when I did I felt like I was the most inconvenient person ever. Finally they told me what was wrong with my car, a problem that would cost me $1,100 I did research and this seemed like the right price. That being said, I was unaware that this issue was actually covered under federal emissions laws because of the age of my vehicle and the amount of miles. I found this out when I had to take my car in to another shop for another reason. Sadly, I am unable to get my money back because I did not have the work done at the dealer. If these guys knew cars and and were honest people they would have also let me know my options, instead, they took advantage of me and did the work anyway. I feel robbed and I would never trust them again!

Failed Va state inspection for no reason by saying that the brakes needed to be replaced. Asked for rejection sticker but the old man (Leslie I believe) was more interested in selling me the maintenance than the sticker. Waited for more than 20 mins to provide me the rejection sticker after making several calls around. I had to aggressively tell him to give me the car back.Guess what - car passed state inspection at another shop.

Do not go here, especially as a female. I went for an inspection and got told some crap that my car would not pass just because the wipers were banged up even though they were still clearing the windshield. I told them that their is no reason that my car should not pass because of that and that I would like to take my car somewhere else, but they had already replaced my wipers and put the new inception sticker on. I ended up paying 35 dollars for an inspection and new wipers, which is too much, it would of been cheaper to get an inspection somewhere else and replace my wipers myself if there was something actually wrong with them

This auto service is very unreliable. They changed the tires on my car and forgot to tighten the bolts so we almost had a severe accident and could have been killed. I give them a zero out of 5.

The owner is rude. Thinks he is fixing the car for free and doing customer a favor. He goes crazy when customer demands an explanation but would waste no time in charging your credit card.

Really honest mechanics and they will not charge you just to look and see what the issue is. Down side is its a small business and you almost always will need to be able to drop off your car or have and appointment plus there isnt a shuttle service.
