They have a great supply of products, the only negative I can say is, if pool parts are not in stock & need to be ordered, there is no timeframe on when it will arrive, so you probably will be waiting longer than you would expect. Besides that, great store.
Their staff lack experience for pool parts. Even when I tell them the exact part I am looking for they seem lost. I have called on a number of occasions about different parts and each time they are lost.
We have been using Hollywood Pools for several years and used Alabama Pool (acquired by Hollywood) for many years. Currently our pool maintenance is performed by Larry Bolden of Hollywood. He is very knowledgeable, efficient, professional, and strives to make sure our pool and pool equipment stay in great shape. We appreciate having Larry providing this service.
Chris helped us with pool repairs. Our project consisted of gunite repair, acid wash, installing overflow & refill. From day one he was professional and very knowledgeable. He returned phone calls and answered questions. His crews arrived on the day he said they would and completed the project ahead of schedule. Dale & Tommy came out after the pool was refilled to get us up and running. Dale & Tommy were awesome, they were so kind and hard working. Hollywood Pools has a great team. I highly recommend them. We have used other pool companies in the past and had bad experiences. Hollywood will definitely be my go to!
Have only bought parts for pool equipment from them. They keep a good level of inventory and usually have what I need.
Called to ask a Question the person who answered the phone really needs to Learn some phone skillsUgh what a joke
Chris & Rusty and their teams helped complete redo our pool. Chris and Rusty are tie if the kindest hard working guys out there. They were diligent, communicative, helpful, and fast! I am so thankful to have worked with these two guys!
Have been a Hollywood customer for over twenty years. went today to have a water test done. there were around 15-20 people in the store at least 5 were staff . no one was wearing a mask! NOT ONE. so that was the last trip to Hollywood. I hear Leslies staff wear masks and have a sign asking customers to do the same
We bought a new Sundance Optima spa from Hollywood Pool and Spas in 2002. It has been fabulous for 18 years and has required only two service calls. The two service calls were very professional and reasonably priced. We are very pleased and will be back when we need a new spa.
Great customer service
I wish ALL service experiences were this Great And Easy!! Tommy and Mike Covered all they did.. explained clearly and concisely, friendly and professional! I will ask for them from now on!! 👍👍👍
I have a 36x18 gunite pool for which I had three different contractors come give me quotes to resurface. Hollywood pools was not the cheapest by any means, but they also werent the most expensive (the highest priced company wanted to chip out all the old plaster down to the gunite, which is unnecessary if using Diamond Brite). The cheapest quote had me a little sketched out because of some things that contractor had missed in his quote, like sand-blasting. Also, as an IT consultant and contractor myself, I have spent a lot of time in my career cleaning up after lowest bidders. This was a big job, very complex, with a LOT that can go wrong (from structural and plumbing issues, to mother nature), and no matter who does it, this sort of thing is expensive! So I chose Hollywood Pools. One thing I had read about these sorts of refinishing jobs is that often the company you pay isnt the one whos actually doing the job. They completely sub out to another contractor usually. I wasnt so keen on that, but figured that was just the nature of the business. Turns out, thats not how Hollywood does things. Their man in charge of this, Chris Caldwell, is a third generation pool builder and refinisher. He knows his craft. They use a couple different contractors for some of the grunt work (like the main sand-blasting), but the important parts are done by Chris and his team. When the work was done, I filled up the pool. As with any big and complex job it would be unusual not to run into some sort of issue (no matter who does the work). And sure enough, I found that my pool was leaking (spoiler: not a workmanship problem, the new plaster didnt flow into a gunite flaw at the light where the old plaster mostly had). It had always lost about 1/4 per day. Now it was losing 1.5 (in mid-October). Its at this point where you find out if you picked the right company to do the job. I have no problem with issues arising, thats to be expected with big jobs. There are just far too many variables to account for every one of them. Its how the company or contractor handle the issues that matters. I assumed I was probably going to have to call someone, go back and forth, argue, deal with the usual headaches. Umm...nope. I didnt even have to call anyone.I was verifying my suspicion that it was leaking and mentioned that to the young guy that came by to brush the pool, just so he wouldnt disturb the bucket I was using to measure. I didnt expect him to do anything because I was only about 75% sure myself at that point that it was leaking. Next thing I know, a senior staff member was out there checking the leak. I talked to him for a few minutes, told him what I was seeing, then he checked a number of things, checked my marks, and then left. The very next day there was another member of the team scuba diving in my pool checking for the leak. It was a hard leak to find and it took a few days of him trying things, then testing, trying some more, then testing until he found the culprit. I never had to call anyone...not a manager, not Chris, not anyone. I didnt get an extra bill, I didnt even have to argue with anyone. They just fixed it. They pulled out all the stops and worked on it until it was done. The team took full ownership of the problem and I didnt have to worry about a thing! Now the pool is sealed up tighter than its ever been (they also found an unrelated leak on the pump during this process).I work in a service industry, and I have to say that Ive rarely seen a team anywhere that takes ownership like these guys did, and is more trustworthy. Their customer service was beyond compare, and a model for other teams in any industry. Its now been a little over a month since they did the initial job and I can run my vacuum (you cant use wheeled vacuums in the pool for 30 days or you get streaks in the surface while it cures). The pool looks fantastic and I couldnt be happier. They took all worries out of this, making it pretty effortless for me. I would use them again without hesitation!
Pool ownership...meh. It is great to have in the summer, dont get me wrong. Kids love it. My wife and I mysteriously become very popular with our friends. It is refreshing on those 95 degree days in August. BUT, maintenance!!!! My family and I have lived in our current home since 2011, and we hired Hollywood Pools & Spa as our third pool maintenance company. The first company continuously left our gates open for our dogs to escape. The second company was not reliable with weekly service, so we gave Hollywood a shot. Larry Bolding and Hollywood Pools have honestly exceeded our expectations. They show up when they say they will, fix what they say they will, basically, they keep their promises. I have been very pleased with them for the four months I have been using them and would highly recommend their services to any pool owners looking for reliable, dependable, friendly, and competent service. Larry, who handles our regular maintenance, has been fantastic and is professional and friendly. Give them a shot!
Update: Since my last post, the management has really been very responsive and has tried to fix things. Will wait to see how the hot tub holds up before updating my review further.I bought the most expensive Sundance Hot Tub available at the time from them in Nov 2017. Soon after I bought the hot tub, I noticed the water did not stay in the pool and called them. They have now sent out their service person a few times over to replace the lights inside the tub but the problem has never gone away. I have NEVER been able to use my brand new hot tub since I bought it. I have been calling Hollywood Pool and Spa every week, but I have not had a resolution to the problem. As per Mark, who is the current manager of the store, Sundance has failed to resolve the problem and he has been calling Sundance every other day for the last 3 months. At this point, I dont even know who to trust as my last few calls to Hollywood Pools have been picked up by the staff who have told that Mark is not around and then I never got any callback. Not sure who to blame but I am stuck with a $13,000 giant non-working hot tub!!
I apologize for my previous review. Mark took care of it and called to make things right. Services need to improve however and hopefully we are going in the right direction. Thanks mark.
I have used Hollywood Pools for around 2 1/2 years now. In that time I have had a couple different techs service my pool and have always been pleased. I have had two problems come up over that time both issues were solved in a timely manor. My current tech Jared is definitely an asset for Hollywood. He is always friendly, willing to answer questions, If he doesnt know the answer he tells me, he doesnt know and has an answer for it the following week. Which is refreshing to hear an honest answer from a honest and hard working employees these days. I have no problem recommending HP to my family and friends.

Drove over from Anniston, pulled up 10 minutes before closing on a Friday. The way I was treated you would have thought they were just opening. Not rushed, super friendly, courteous and knowledgeable. Checked my water sample, they took their time explaining what I needed and why. Set me up with a “plan”. Will be back!!Thanks so much,Randy
Great service and good prices!
Hollywood Pools has done a nice job maintaining our pool for over 15 years. Larry Bolding does a good job with the weekly maintenance. Bill Branch inside the office is very knowledgeable and helpful with the mechanical systems, and service management. I recommend this company, they are reputable.
Tommy provided Great service and very professional!
Larry Bolding has serviced our pool for several years now. He always does a great job and our dogs love him! I would recommend him and the whole team at Hollywood Pools!
Its cold out! And Larry Bolding still keep our pool nice and clean. Nice guy and goes the extra mile. Thanks larry keep it up!
Bought some expensive patio furniture for my screened porch. Spent over four thousand dollars two years ago. Followed the instructions by the sales person on how to take care of the fabric. Needless to say we cannot clean or remove the mold and mildew after a number of attempts to remove it. At the time of purchase was told to Scotch-guard before we used it. Now told the treatment caused a breakdown in the fabric and is the reason for my inability to probably clean the fabric. ( I wonder what Scotch-guard will say to that) I lose because now the salesperson is saying that was never said. Was told to find someone who makes covers for the cushions or buy new ones. Just want you want to hear after spending thousands of dollars. Shop around before you consider a purchase from this establishment. I will not recommend them to friends or family or anyone.
Hollywood Pools and Spas has been my service provider for many years. I particularly like working with Larry Bolding. He is courteous, delivers consistent service and notifies me promptly if there is an issue I need to be aware of. He does an outstanding job!
We have used Hollywood Pool and Spas since 2004 for service and repairs. They always work with us when we have special events and adjust schedules to accommodate our needs. Larry Bolding was our serviceman for 5+ years, and was always professional and went above and beyond to help us with any pool problems! I would definitely recommend them for your pool services.
Great service very helpful. Thanks
My pool maintenance person is Greg Hassler and he is the best Ive ever had in all the years Ive owned my pool. Plus, Hollywood Pools is very professional and are always on top of equipment that needs replacing to keep my pool in perfect condition. Greg Hassler and Hollywood Pools are the best team to maintain a pool to 100% satisfaction.
These guys offer a wide range of home and pool products They are very friendly, and I would highly recommend you visit one of their stores in Birmingham.
Go by and see Billy Branch and he can take care of all your pool and spa needs. These guys are great and do a fantastic job.
Quality outdoor furniture, not cheap, but seems very well made. Helpful staff.
Our pool is serviced by Jared Jones at Hollywood Pools and Spa. He has been phenomenal, the pool is always taken care and he is always informative.
Excellent service, and they do so much more than just pools. Good folks here.
Very courteous staff. Today, just had water tested.
Their work is terrible! They replastered our commercial pool (early spring 2016) and within a year it began to break up/chip away on the bottom of the pool. I notified them (summer 2017), they said we can patch/repair the spots before opening the pool for next (2018) season. The pool (22,500 gallon) had to be drained for repairs. They came and patched (charged me) and we refilled the pool. Now (2 months later) we have 2 new places that are chipping away in the bottom of the deep end. Also, they retiled around the top of the pool and that grout is cracking and falling into the pool. The grout in the corners had broken away, they re-grouted this when they patched the spots in the bottom of the pool this year (2018) and it is already cracking. They also charged me to fix this. This equates to terrible workmanship & service.
Great products and service. Product quality best in market.
Nice friendly people!! Can buy grills to spa to swimming pools here.
Their store is well stocked but do not use their pool service for your pool. Had difficulty even getting their manager over their services to call us back. They did one service and told us we could get out and cjesn the algae from the pool!!! Thats why we called them in the first place!!! Secondly we agreed on $50 per service (including chemicals!!!). I get a bill for one week (since we cancelled after their poor performance) and it was for almost $78!!! They said they had to use an expensive chemical to treat the pool. What about chemicals included did they not understand??? Nice store but service is terrible!!!
Always there for me only pool place that allows me to use as needed as opposed to signing contract
Great selection
The ineptitude, inability to communicate effectively to me or between their departments, lack of care, and some dishonesty to boot, I will not recommend or use again.
They carry a full line of Green Egg grills and accessories... Huge place, but I only go as far as the grills...
The pest control service I used is in the same place just in a side room.
Very helpful
Wildwood crossing!!
