Delightful modern coffee shop conveniently located in the heart of downtown Birmingham! High ceiling open space with plenty of counter and comfy chair seating to enjoy your delicious coffees and baked goods! Big selection of scrumptious pastries of the finest quality, don’t miss them!! Friendly staff and fast service set this excellent coffee shop apart, don’t miss it if you are in Birmingham!
Revelator has the best chic vibe of any coffee shop in downtown Birmingham. They have a truly unique selection of beverages and everything is super high quality. Its a great place to study or to take a first date.
I had such a great customer service experience from an amazing, hospitable and nice gentleman named Will today. He was so warm, sincere and very welcoming. Hope this spot keeps people like him regardless of gender from top to bottom always.
The past few times Ive visited Revelator downtown Ive had the honor of being in the presence of Erika and Caroline. OUTSTANDING staff. They take the time to get to know you personally in the most authentic way. So now, lets break it down.Pastries, 5/5: The cinnamon rolls hit different.Coffee, 5/5: It tastes like its crafted with care.Environment 5/5: Open, lively space. Genuinely appreciate the decor choices, and theres plenty of seating (even on a busy day). Now I will tell you, bring your down coat. Your toes might go numb.Employees 10/5: Theyve made me a loyal customer.
Good selection of coffee and baked goods! Whole bean coffee was in stock and roasted fairly close to sell date.Plenty of street parking to walk to the cafe.
Great place with great coffee. I enjoyed the environment of the shop and even as I looked up from reading it was easy admire the beauty of the location. I had a few questions about Revelators coffee and the options for pour over and the barista was very knowledgeable and helpful in describing the desired beans. I came on a late Friday afternoon and the shop was also pleasantly quiet. Not so quiet that I couldn’t have a conversation yet not so loud that I had to raise my voice to be understood or be distracted from work. Great experience.
This is a true coffee shop. Wonderful lattes, how more people go to Starbucks Ill never understand....
We checked two different outlets including their website to make sure they were open. Their website said 6 and google said 3. We got into the area at 2:30 and parked a few blocks down cause parking was full. Walked about 10 min to the door to find a sign taped on the door saying they close at 1 today. The point of all this technology around us is to use it to the fullest and post updates. So frustrating that not even their website was updated.
Super friendly staff and super tasty coffee! Will definitely visit again when Im back in town.
Coffee was ok, a little bitter. Chai latte was also ok.
My favorite coffee in Birmingham. Love the vibe too!
Delicious coffee, tea, and a great atmosphere. The Chai tea latte was one of the best Ive ever had.
I really enjoyed the coffee, it was one of my favorite out of a couple of coffee shops Ive tried. Louis was very nice we got a chance to see the art across the street.
Awesome place. Customer service was out of this world!!! Best coffee and service
Love the cozy atmosphere, staff service was great and coffee was sooo good!!
Lovely space, friendly staff and good coffee. No complaints.
Nice coffee shop. The iced coffee I had was amazing. Modern atmosphere and close parking. Id love to spend some more time inside after Covid.
Pros:I had a cup of the house coffee. Surprising strong (which is good). Barista was very nice and smiled.Cons:Typical and intentionally hipster. Everyone staring at their phones. No eye contact. Parking is sketchy. Creepy guy out front when we went. Kind of like the apple store without the bright lights. Conclusion: Good coffee for coffees sake. Take it to go.
Great coffee. Wonderful service, and a chill vibe.
Hip locale with a wide-open well designed interior and all your favorite espresso-based drinks.
So this place is awesome and Ive been meaning to review it. Its always busy when my wife and I go on the weekend, but we still receive pretty quick service. The coffee is fresh AF and theres all kinds of variety; pour overs, straight, espresso, lattes, etc. I posted a picture of my wifes latte since its more interesting than a regular cup of coffee. Definitely hit this place up if you want a laid back and modern coffee hangout. Also its close to the Pizitz Food Hall, and theres a Revelator kiosk in there too, so its a win-win.
Great coffee and lovely setting in downtown Birmingham!
Overpriced, and the bathrooms are always filthy... Once upon a time the place was super smooth and now it is very average.
I hosted my very first event here! The people were so sweet. They made sure I had everything I needed and the coffee was amazing. I definitely recommend taking time to depress here! It is very relaxing! The vibe is beautiful. Thank you so much for having me!!!!!
SOLID. Perfect latte.
Always great coffee here.
Reasonable prices for great food and service.
Im a neanderthal when it comes to most things refined so atmosphere and vibe can be lost on me. IMO this place was very nice but its not somewhere I would usually go to spend a significant amount of time. Staff were wonderful and pleasant as can be.I hate to doctor-up coffee. 9 out of 10 times I order it black unless Im trying a new place and dont feel like rolling the dice on having bad, straight coffee. That being said, I ordered a cappuccino as those can help hide coffee that is bad (first time, didnt know what to expect). This was THE best cappuccino Ive ever had and its because the coffee, was INCREDIBLE. Revelator pulls no punches and are not afraid to make a strong cappuccino. Im a fan for life.
Our barista was amazing! So awesome to get some killer got some coffee during this crazy time... they offer oat milk, etc. thank you!!!!
Absolutely delicious latte and a cool atmosphere!
Unique. The environment is not warm, relaxed, and cozy. If you like hard, industrial settings, you will like it. Beautiful. We had a pleasant coffee experience although our order was not correct. We enjoyed it anyway. The tea was amazing!
Christian M is phenomenal. Super friendly and welcoming staff, and atmosphere. You will not meet a nicer bunch of people than the staff at Revelator. And the coffee is delicious.
Was so disappointed that they had closed at 3pm even though google said they were open til 7 and facebook said they were open til 5. So getting there before 5 to be safe was still too late for a 3pm closing 😔 Would have loved to try their lattes but was only in Birmingham for 1 day.
Birmingham needed a coffee shop like this. It has the look and feel of a big city coffee shop but plenty of space to study or carry on conversation. Luis is an excellent manager, and the staff does a great job to ensure a quality experience.
We stopped at Revelator as a mid-way pitstop on our road trip. We needed caffeine and a chance to let our baby stretch his legs. I ordered an iced honey cinnamon latte and my husband ordered a drip coffee. We both really enjoyed our drinks. I often find that poorly made flavored lattes can just taste like sugary milk, but that was not the case here. I could taste the espresso coming through with just the right amount of sweetness from the honey cinnamon. The service was just as excellent. I was worried that we would annoy the staff with our squealing baby, but they were very kind and were not bothered in the slightest when we asked for hot water to heat his bottle. We will definitely be making this our spot to stop every time we stop in Birmingham. Thank you, Revelator, for giving us great coffee and an enjoyable experience while traveling with a baby!
Great coffee and a cool spot to hang out for a while.
Nice atmosphere coffee shop supports local arts as well
Revelator on 3rd is one of my go-to coffee shops. Their coffee is truly excellent. You can taste a higher level of quality here, even compared to other specialty coffee shops. It’s very close to my office so I use it as an office away from the office for meetings with clients in a more casual setting or just as a place to hide away and get work done.
Something hot but not related to coffee !Zero out of 10
Downtown location hosted an event for us and it was great!! So thankful for their willingness to share their space with our group of college students. Super helpful and great environment.
Delicious cappuccinos of top quality. I travel to Birmingham from Los Angeles and am thrilled to have the pleasure of this cafe while here.
The interior was clean and contemporary. The employees did not know what was in stock. The only available product was coffee from a machine that processed the coffee beans differently from a Mr. Coffee.
My favorite coffee in Birmingham.Revelator’s coffee has amazing flavor without being bitter and is never too hot or over bearing.Definitely don’t plan on having any private conversations at the 3rd Ave. location haha The sound travels too easily.
Super friendly staff and good coffee, matcha and tea. Prepared with love, so bring some patience and enjoy! The place is great to get some work do e or connect. ☕️🍵
Great conversation, fantastic service.
This new retail Revelator location is modern, clean and hip. The pour over bean selection changes regularly. On my last visit I had fabulous Colombian beans prepared with v60. Wonderful to discover such excellent coffee and location in downtown Birmingham.
Decent coffee. Cold brew was flavored and in a bottle. Self pour. It just wasn’t what I was expecting from a coffee shop. Very upscale place for mediocre coffee. Great service though. Staff was very kind.
If you want to find a good coffee place in Birmingham, Revelator must be high on the list. The quality of coffee served here is top notch. The staff is always friendly and quick. The atmosphere is modern and calm.
The coffee was terrible and the barista was about as pretentious as you can be about coffee. I ordered a single shot of espresso and their machine was down to be able to make it for me, even though they were making lattes and cappuccinos and other drinks for others... all of those have shots of espresso... anyway in a city with better options I would go anywhere but here.
Rev on 3rd is my absolute fav coffee house!! Their new manager is top-notch! Hes so creative within the store and so caring towards each customer! This is a must-stop shop!
If you like craft coffee and great environment definitely come here. Just experienced this coffee shop for the first time. The pour over coffee was phenomenal, the espresso drinks were descent, the environment was great for getting work done and socializing, and the employees were nice to interact with and quite enjoyable to talk to. Definitely worth checking out or making it your regular getaway/coffee destination.
LOVE the coffee. LOVE the service. LOVE the space to hang out and work. The Christians rock!!
Love this place. I stay on 3rd and this place is a hop skip away. The coffee here is in my top 3 for Birmingham. A wonderful ambiance and a kind staff. Havent had anything from here that I havent liked.
Super cool interior, service was so-so, and the coffee was good. I had opted for a pour over which was good. Many choices when it comes to whole-bean coffee bags to take home. They seem to be doing well with many locations in other states.
Ive always enjoyed the coffee and atmosphere at this place but feed the meter, its the one street you could get a parking ticket on. Customer service here is always 5 stars and so is the coffee.
Great service, great coffee. Fantastic atmosphere. Simple drink menu. The espresso isnt too strong, which is a good thing in my opinion. Cons: No food selection. Not a lot of seating. Not great for computer use because there are no outlets in the front.
The knowledge of the barista and the taste of my coffee reflects my review of 1 Star for Revelator. I asked if any of the beans on their pour over were naturally processed. The response was asking if I wanted to know if any of the beans were dark roasted. I ordered an Ethiopian pour over and the coffee wasn’t attended to throughout the process. The coffee was very sour.
Coffee was smooth. I had a Kenyan pour over that had a mild, smooth taste with a hint of chocolate under tones. The bad? Well I came in at 8ish and there were no food choices at all and was told it usually arrives around 9. Nine oclock for a coffee house is way to late. But oh they did have dirty plates where the items would go whenever they arrived. I dont know if they sold out the morning stock or the crumbs where from the previous day. But either way it was a whole case with nothing to offer but crumbs.
Decor was industrial, but still very nice. Atmosphere was....adequate...2 bartistas on duty one was pleasent the other, who took my order, was unpleasant to say the least. I assumed she was having a bad day, but I wouldnt go back to this shop because of her. Coffee was sufficient though the taste was extremely mellow. Fine place just be careful of the employees.
Stopped in for a quick latte, was delicious. Wish there was more seating up front instead of at the bar, but still had no regrets about stopping by.
Not impressed. overpriced (dont ask for an extra shot...its $2 on top of the $5 they charge for a 10 oz latte....you get that sticker shock when they ring you up. Its not on the menu.) and they never even made my drink after 20 minutes. Asked for a refund, the cashier had no idea what I ordered, spent another 10 minutes trying to find my order, and didnt know how to do issue the refund once she found it. So then she had to get the manager. Who also had to had no idea and had to figure out how to grant a refund, and who couldnt tell if the register had added the credit back to my card or not. I was offered a cash refund, then he changed his mind, and I was asked to leave my contact info and check back in 4 days. Nope. Keep the $7 and $1 tip for that hassle. They did offer a free drink for my trouble but I wont be back.
In my opinion, it is the best coffee in town. They roast it locally and distribute it to all of their locations in the southeast. You will not be getting a bunch of flavored junk or crazy sugary lattes here. This is just clean, real coffee, with a few options including in-house syrups. You can get regular brewed, pour over, or cold brew, and all taste much richer than what many people may be used to.
What a fun little nugget of a place. Very hip and modern, located very close to the theater distract of Birmingham. Most of the staff was helpful and friendly. I would have liked to have seen some different cold options.
Bring your credit or debit card. They dont take cash.I asked about three items. They were out of each, so I settled for a scone which was a bit dry and a beverage. But I am willing to go back and try again. Ill extend them credit...places can have off days. Ill try again.
Enjoyed my first time visiting and was greeted by a very helpful employee. Loved the interior and chatting with the barista while enjoying a latte. Will definitely be back to try their dairy alternative, oat milk.
Came in for the first time in a while and noticed the decor had been changed; love it —spacious and elegant.
One of the coolest places to hang out on the north side! Their menu is simple and stripped down, but these guys and girls know what theyre doing, and it shows. They spend their time learning more about coffee and how to make it correctly instead of focusing on complicated drinks, and that makes them stand out from the rest. Everyone needs a shtick, and theyve found theirs. The only thing is, last I checked, they dont have decaf! If they started carrying that, itd be five stars for sure.
This is a weekly habit of mine & my co-workers. Going to Revelator Coffee always = a nice walking meeting during the busy work day. Cool atmosphere. Wonderful and knowledgeable baristas that are always happy to help you chose (or spice up) your beverage. High quality. I always buy beans to take home for the weekend too... And since its a Birmingham home grown / home run business Id rate it 100 stars if I could!
We do work for Revelator Coffee. The place is super nice inside and the keep everything really clean... and we get to see behind the curtain. Coffees good and the staff is helpful
Very sleek modern coffee house. Great iced mocha. Parking can be tricky on a busy day but worth it.
Beautiful shop but no decaf espresso! Some of us love coffee but cant do the caffeine - so thats a real bummer. Otherwise this place is really great.
Great urban setting, good coffee, great place to meet friends.
Very trendy looking coffee bar. Not a cozy place to hang out or do some work. The poor use of space also bothered me from a design stout. About the coffee, pretty good, on par with Starbucks except costs more. Not worth the premium in my opinion. No doubt some will disagree, with but thats my opinion. With a no cash policy, it does give me some concern for the area
Scenery is cool staff is helpful, if you would like to go somewhere other than Starbucks definitely a good pick. This place also has a nice size bar for being social.
Space is beautiful! Coffee is great. Christian M. is the best!
When this location opened nearly 4 years ago, I was excited, and actually knew some of the employees from my prior coffee work experience. About a year or two later, I became disappointed with the coffee I ordered sometimes and with the overall atmosphere. But that has since changed drastically for me. I absolutely love the cold brew and the pourover is exceptional. Their tea selection, while not huge, is fabulous. The staff has had several turn arounds in the last few years. (I have lost track of the many individuals who have worked there.) Over the last year I have gotten to know many of them well (as well as many at Octane, their counterpart in the company), and they are some of the kindest people out of most coffee shops in town. Their current manager is a ray of sunshine and very kind to all his customers. Favorite place to go to get out of the office.
Good coffee but a very pleasant environment to meet and work.
This place was very upscale in decor... However, there was very little lounge-seating, especially with how quickly it got busy. Good coffee, but I wasnt particularly impressed. Long, double-sided bar with stool seating... But again, not enough lounge-seating for it to be a cozy coffee shop. Seemed a bit uptight, to me.
Excellent coffee with a great atmosphere. Service was quick and very friendly.
