Beautiful hidden location...a complete waste. Most judges are extremely unprofessional, more concerned with telling jokes and having fun than considering the validity of arguments. PLEASE TAKE YOUR JOBS SERIOUSLY, the rest of us do. No parking to be found, best to use public transportation. Relieve stress after your appalling experience in traffic court by exploring the area, it is really nice.

I hope my review would help anyone new to the appeal process.I am guessing if you are reading this review, you got a ticket for some reason. For the first time offenders(as long as the ticket wont cause suspension of your license) I suggest you just pay the ticket regardless whether it is just or not because,1. All police officers in NYC are highly trained and experienced in presenting their cases in front of the judge because this is part of their weekly routine. Also they know all the judges and judges know them. Since they are human being as well, the familiarity with each other definitely help the police side regardless how hard the judge will try to be equal to both sides.2. Hiring a lawyer for your first offense generally does not make sense cause usually the lawyers flat fee is higher than what you would pay for the ticket. I guess it could make sense for serious offence, 2nd, or 3rd charges.3. More than 80% of the time the police officer will appear in court with their fellow officers. This is much higher than national average so you have very low chance of beating the case by non-appearance from the police side.4. Every driver in NYC know that it requires different set of common sense in order to drive around in Manhattan. But the judge will not consider that at all, in fact If you try to appeal to their common sense side, they might cut off your argument because they will think you have no legal argument anymore.Traffic court is not where you try to find a justice. Just find a way to minimize the damage in a quickest way.

This is a horrible place, no point wasting your time fighting for your ticket. the judge and the police they all are best buddies, they do not care if you have solid evidence to prove yourself not guilty. they are rude people and judge makes decision without even looking at the evidence provided.

This is not a nice place. Good things do not happen here. Im writing this to warn people.First of all be warned that if youve been issued a summons in 2018 and it says washington pl. theyve changed buildings. Theyre now at the Battery Pl. address posted on this page. They wont bother to update you about this so watch out.Second, all the cops show up. You will get no credit for showing up in person. I guarantee your ticketing officer will be sitting there yawning like its another day in the office, because it is for them. There were probably about 50 people scheduled for my hearing slot. Out of that 3 showed up, and 7 officers were hanging out waiting for them. The cops and judges know each other and see each other every week. Theyre buds. Youre allowed to present evidence to the judge in the form of photos, recordings, eye witness accounts, etc. If you have any of that have it prepped and ready, but also have copies because the court will keep it all at the end. Youre allowed to have a lawyer but depending on your finances or level of offense this is not a realistic option.Unless you have any hard evidence that you didnt do whatever traffic violation youre accused of doing, theyre going to charge you as guilty. They will also add a surcharge on your ticket. For example the judge told me my ticket was $50 since it was my first violation. When I got to the counter to pay it was actually $50 + an $88 surcharge. What in the heck is a surcharge? No one there will be able to tell you. As far as youre concerned surcharge means hands up give me your money.I would highly recommend paying the fine by mail if this is your first offense. It is not worth the time, energy, or disrespect to set foot in this building. Youre worth more than this.
