We have had the WORST experience with closets by design. I had a designer come out to our new construction on 4/5/21. We told the builder not to install anything in the closets, pantry or laundry room because we were promised installation in June. We moved in on May 18. There was no communication about an installation date throughout the month of June. I had to call constantly. They finally set up our appointment for august 2. I was told they would arrive between 8 and 10. They finally arrived at 12:20. Again, no communication about a late arrival. I had to call! They did not finish the job on that day. I had to call to see when they would return. The master closet was not measured correctly and had to be redone on one side. The baseboards were ripped out and we will have to repaint this area. I could’ve gotten the builder to leave off the baseboards if I would’ve known this. The laundry room cabinet was not installed how it was supposed to be and the measurement was again wrong. They were scheduled to come out a third time at 9am on a Saturday. They arrived at 11:30-again no call about being delayed. They were supposed to call the 4th time they came out when they were on the way. We are still trying to move stuff from storage into our home. We just happened to pass them on the road and had to turn around and return home because they did not call to let us know. They quality of the laundry room doors is awful. And they messed up the walls during installation. I need more baskets for the slatwall in the pantry but cannot get anyone to CALL ME BACK! I just want to be done! We are so disappointed in this project. I would not recommend this company. (The workers who came out were polite but again the communication is horrible!)

Our closet hasn’t even been installed and I already give them a one star. The lack of communication has been appalling for over four months now. Our designer left and after numerous attempts to contact her for weeks with no reply, I called the home office to discover she left. Now, everything she told us that was “manager approved” just sign the contract - is void. I feel rushed to sign a contract and make partial payment so they would not fulfill what we were told. We asked for weeks to be called and still no contact. They have now cancelled our install date, which we have had for months, with less than 3 weeks notice - which requires us to cancel our flooring/painter appointments to prep for the new closets. This has been a nightmare project - we just want to cancel. If communication matters to you, this is not the right company to do business with.

Had closets designed, only down side is they didn’t fix the trim they pulled off the wall. Everything else was smooth and professional.

The closet turned out great and makes a major impact for our master bedroom.

The design was courteous and professional. The wait was four months for delivery and installation. The first installers were not able to bring the countertop and crown pieces but in two weeks another team arrived and finished the job quite well. The one thing that stood out was their politeness and professional attitudes. I would give them a rating of 8 out of 10.

We had a great experience from start to finish. The installation was done on time. The installers were super nice, did a great job, and cleaned up when they were done. We highly recommend Closets by Design.

What I liked about this business the quality and look of the design. The manager was very responsive to my needs and addressed all of my questions and concerns. When it was time for installation the installer was punctual and eager to do a good job. I was thrilled with the outcome and I love the quality of the work.

I have a sizable closet but it did not use the space efficiently. The custom design allows me to use more of my closet space. The installation went smoothly- a mistake was made on some of my pieces but the installers figured out a solution quickly. The worked quickly and efficiently . It was a completely pleasant experience.

I absolutely love my new master closet. Janet was the designer and she was very detailed and planned it out perfectly. She was able to match my cabinets in the house as well as the brushed nickel pulls. The installation was moved up which made me super happy. Stevie was the installer. Stevie went over and beyond in building the cabinets onsite. I couldn’t be happier. I highly recommend their service.

My husband and I wanted to take our master bedroom in our new house to the next level. We also hate the wire shelving that is so prevalent in closets. We found Closet by Design through the local ads with a 40% off plus free installation. Scheduled a consultation and someone came out to look at our space and give us a quote. The service was fantastic for that part. She worked with us and tried to give us exactly what we wanted but for a more reasonable price than the original quote. They are very expensive even with the promotion.Fast forward to installation day. We were told they would remove our old shelving and patch the holes (but we would need to paint) - okay whatever. It took them from 10am to about 6:30pm same day. It was a big project.Overall we are very happy! However, how much it costs we expected them to have taken more care of our walls, floors, and patch the holes better than they did. Luckily our clothes and things cover most of it.. but was slightly disappointed with the installation.

The closet look great. The only issue is when they removed the floor trim and left unfinished around the wall bottoms.

Overall, positive. There were some hiccups that totally annoyed me though. I was given an install date, but 5 days before, they called to confirm my install on a different day... like pretending they didnt know it was changed. Then, there was a problem with the pre-assembly, and they put it off still another day. That time they were scheduled to show up between 10am-noon, and only tried to contact me about changing the date at 9:30am. Fortunately, I am semi-retired and work from home, so we were able to be available.The installers were very good. The installation was smooth and the results made it worthwhile.The only other hitch is that I ordered 2 additional shelves over the phone. I was told that the pegs to hold up the shelves would be sent by mail immediately, and the shelves would be mailed. That was over a week ago and no sign of either item yet. I could have walked them down the 120 miles by now.My overall assessment is that they do a good job of designing custom closets, the materials are good, the installation is good but the scheduling and responsiveness with information concerning scheduling leaves a lot to be desired. (I know that there are delays in getting materials presently for so many things, but the cavalier attitude and general lack of responsiveness are even more of an issue because of this).

I scheduled a consultation and nobody ever showed up. I called the office, and they told me that someone would call ASAP to tell me why they didn’t show up. Nobody ever called. No apologies, no nothing...Use one of the other multiple businesses that do closet design.

They installed a custom closet design and I absolutely love it!!! It has so much space for my clothes and extra shelves to keep things very organized and clean. Thank you so much to Kelly for helping with the design to best suit our needs and to junior for doing a great job on the installation side!!

Our designer, Kelly, was amazing! She took time to get an idea of what I had in mind, our available space and added her expertise suggestions to obtain the perfect layout for our space. We scheduled the installation date with the appropriate person while she was in our home. I scheduled it for my off day, Wednesday, approx 3 mths out. The day before our scheduled date I get a confirmation voicemail that they would be doing the installation not on our scheduled day but the next day. So, instead of rescheduling for another week out I took off work to get this long awaited project done. We provided a clean slate for installation. All the demo was done, walls painted…ready to go. Everything was installed with the exception of a portion of our countertop. The installer said he would be back the following day to complete the install. After several phone calls, the countertop was finally installed 3 weeks later. There were several Sheetrock touch ups to be done, a couple of dings to our floors and a pieced together countertop that is not the quality that was expected. We had previously used Closets by Design for our master closet in Daphne, AL with great results. Sadly, This Huntsville, AL project did not meet our expectations in quality and installation for a $4,200 pantry. I would rate the design and designer a 5 star. My overall rating is a 3 because it is way better than our wire shelving, but we probably could have bought and installed the cabinets ourselves with the same results at a much better lprice point.

I absolutely love my new closets. Our installer did a fantastic job, practiced very good Covid rules, was professional, on time, and cleaned up very well. Cant wait to get Pam out to do more closets in our home.

The installation team was very good. Communication about their schedule could have been better, but that was a minor issue.

They installed a custom closet. Worked with me nicely to get the appropriate amount of space and it looks like I hoped. Its not going to be in any home and garden magazines due to the material but its very functional and was less expensive. They have been booked solid so be sure to plan for your first available installation date

My installer, Joe, was awesome! He respected my home, he was responsive, and he exceeded my expectations.

I used the Closets by Design team to renovate my master bedroom closet. The designer, Lisa, worked with me to define how much space I needed for hanging clothes, drawers, and shelves. She seemed to be very experienced at creating functional designs, and she exceeded my expectations with the efficiency of the final layout. I wouldnt call my closet small, but it was insufficiently arranged to adequately store clothes for two working professionals. Lisa presented design options that alleviated the shortfall in storage. I actually enjoy going in my closet now. The installer was efficient at bringing Lisas design to fruition. He had the entire closet completed in about 6 hours.

Love my new closet, install date was 3 + mos afterI ordered so if you want it done quick, that’s probably not going to happen BUT the installers were professional, courteous and did a great job!

Im very pleased with the reach-in closet they built for my daughters room. They made fantastic use of the space in an old house where closets were built as a bit of an afterthought. Excellent value for a great product!

They designed our office space exactly how we imagined. They were quick to come out for the consultation and design. They worked within our budget. The only thing that was a drawback was how backed up they were. We had to wait a few months installation, even being on a cancellation list

I love my closet. I had a mishap with the railing in my closet and needed emergency installation. A neighbor told me about Closet by Design and the sale. For the third of the price I received a more functional space to hold my out of control spending habit.

Titi was amazing to work with. She was patient while we were figuring out what I needed as well as the space I had. Install turned out great. I have been recommending her non stop. The craftsmanship was great and I love the wood smell.

Overall, we are satisfied with the finished product, which was shelves and cabinets intended to appear as built-ins on either side of our fireplace. The quality of the product is very much IKEA like. What was not great about our experience was the lack of communication by CBD. We had to follow up multiple times to find out our installation date initially, which we were then told we would be called by CBD to confirm installation schedule during the week of installation. We were never called by CBD confirming our installation schedule and were scrambling the afternoon before installation day trying to get information. Prior to installation, It took several days for us to see the plans as they were sent by mail (it’s 2020 people!) Our designer missed a fireplace gas starter during estimating/design and had the cabinets ending right at the center of the starter - no good. We let the designer know of the issue, and was told they would reach out to the installation team. Again, we had to reach out days later to find out any information on this issue and never heard anything until the installer showed up and said he would take care of it. The installer left sawdust in the shelves from drilling that we had to clean up. For what we paid for the shelves, we definitely didn’t expect to be vacuuming sawdust left behind. It is evident that what you pay for is the dog and pony show at the initial in-home visit.

Our new closet is awesome! Everyone from the estimator to the installer made sure we got exactly what we wanted. Such an easy process. No high pressure sales, very friendly staff. Would definitely use them again!

I am absolutely in love with my closet now. Way more self space, all my shoes are off the floor and made a not so huge closet exactly what was needed using the full space of the closet instead of just one rack.

Excellent craftsmanship and customer service. My two specialists were extremely attentive and professional. I designed my closet and they built my vision right before my eyes. I Love It!

They were helpful with the designs. The installer was here all day both days, even working late to get the job done.

Design rep was a no-show to our meeting. Called the office for over an hour and no one picked up or called back. Called the corporate office and they werent able to get ahold of anyone or provide any help either. If you have the patience to be stood up, give them a shot. If you are needing a reliable group, not so sure this is your stop.

Excellent customer service and the workmanship on the closet design was very well done. Very happy with the results.
