I will never come back to this location they made me and my Husband feeling so uncomfortable they had the secret shoppers around like we was going to steal something I will never come back to that store for nothing I see why it’s no business come in there foreal and I will contact customer service in the morning warning if you are black they will follow you around….. and that’s my honest opinion

Love this place so much! Many more book choices then B&N and i saw so much HP merchandising and halloween merchandise. I cant wait to go back. Love it. The only thing it is lacking is a coffee shop but hey, its a book store. A GREAT one with great prices.

I wish the website offered a way to search for a book to avoid having to call the store. Also, I don’t know how the store receives their books but more diverse/updated selections would be great; seems to be the same selection of books every time I go to the store. Other than that, great store/staff.

This is one of my favorite places to shop. I love to go in with a few hours and just browse. I found some awesome deals totally on accident. It has a great selection.

Do not take your books or DVDs here to sell. Not worth the hassle. The guys buying the items are rude. They do not give you any details of what they purchased and why youre getting the offered price. I took over 50 dvds and 15 books and they offered me $5.55 for all but 10 dvds... I will never give them business again.

Great for finding used books, movies, and games. However, selling books or movies isnt great. My partner took 20-30 books, that were like new, and was only offered, almost $17 in store credit, or $9 in cash...thats honestly really disappointing. Maybe corporate should rethink the buy back process. Otherwise staff is great and always really helpful at this store.Update: turned some old movies and games in, that I know they didnt look at. Some of them were in really good condition, but was told we didnt get anything, because of condition wasted 3 hours. Buyback is a scam.

Todd in the buying books section almost had me turning and leaving. I had debated which location of this chain to try first. While I found the rest of the staff quite friendly and easy to ask questions, Todd needs a mega dose of customer service and needs to slack off on the lemons. Selection-wise, I found the store a bit bewildering. If you wander in, please allot plenty of time to peruse the shelves. Youll need it!

AWESOME place, has everything a book, music, &movie lover could ever want! Even have a large Lego area& other kids items, as well as all sorts of electronics; from phones, cameras to gaming controllers!!! I definitely recommend this place for unusual finds, however pricing is a bit high for used items and overly priced for new items! Thats the only downfall:/Most all of the new items they carry can be purchased online or at other retailers for the same or even lower prices... They sell new books at the suggested retail price, yet the store is advertised as a discount store.Aside from the pricing downfall, its a great store for ALL AGES! Parents can browse as kids (Id say 7-8yo& up)... can sit in the little movie area& either watch a new released movie or play with the toys that are in the area! Bored spouses, friends, etc. can sit back& relax in several of the sitting areas...which are actually comfortable, unlike BAM& others, who only have metal benches!

There isnt much negative to say about this place. Been coming here for years. You can find something here for you no matter what you like. Its such an awesome store and you can easily lose track of time just looking at everything. Can find some rare stuff in here too, I got a 1972 pressing of Black Sabbaths Masters of Reality and 1 of the 3000 pressings of the Halo CE soundtrack. Definitely make a trip here if youre in the area.

My gf and I stock up on books here. You can find almost anything, and old paperbacks are almost always less than five bucks. Theres also a ton of new stuff, music, gifts, and games. Staff is great. Its always a highlight of our weekend when we go.

Really cool place with so many throwback items. Some of the prices are much higher than they should be on a lot of items but you can also find some very good deals if you take a good look around. If you are looking for vinyl records they have a huge selection.

They seemed to have cut down on certain categories like gardening and diy, which is what I was looking for. I didnt find a thing I was interested in this trip.

Its a good time.Unique and specific toys, collectables, books, and more. We drive an hour at least every other week to see the new stuff! We love it.

I was having trouble locating the research book I needed so I began looking for an associate to help me find it. The first employee I asked just pointed towards the back of the store and said Its that way. Great. so of course I didnt find it when I went that way SMFH. The next employee I asked for help informed me that the book I needed was right over there by those chairs. Needless to say, I still didnt find the book I needed. It took me over 45 minutes to find ONE book because neither one of the gentlemen I asked would HELP me. One of them should have taken two minutes out of his super-busy evening [sarcasm] to actually SHOW me where the book was - not point me in any ole direction just so that he wouldnt have to be bothered with me any longer. The ONLY reason I am giving this place two stars instead of one is because of how friendly and helpful the young lady who checked me out was.

It had a lot of cool movie memerobelia. My daughter took 2 bind of books. She thought she was gonna get more than 6 bucks for them. Lol she is 15 and I told her, welcome to the real world where, you give a lot and get a little. Haha 😄 anyway its double almost if you get the store credit. It was actually a pretty neat store!

This place has a huge selection and lots of cool stuff. But the staff levels are pitiful. There is almost no one on the floor to ask questions of and we waited in line for 20 minutes to purchase or items. And the line was longer when we started when we left and they only had 2 registers open.

I have been in the Birmingham location three times. All three have tried to sell them books and had negative outcomes. Try to sell a hot selling item. The lady said they already have ONE in stock. Do they only carry ONE of each item. Three times . no more for me. Sorry 2nd & Charles Im done.

Its a unique place to go and by that I mean fun in a different way then most book stores.

I love to bring in the books Im done with and get a little compensation for them and then get more books!

2nd & Charles is a great used bookstore, but it is a lot more than books. The staff is always helpful. I have bought a lot of books as well as other stuff from there. I highly recommend it.

They had the books i wanted. well organized. was worried the books would be overshadowed by the other inventory, but the stores huge, so everything has plenty of room.

Really enjoy this store. They always have the rare records that Im looking for, as well as a variety of books from which to choose. I only gave them four stars, because I was looking for an incense holder & they didnt have one, despite selling incense. Everything else is two thumbs up...

We tried to sell them a literal truck load of books from my father-in-laws estate. He just had a stroke and had to go into a care facility and we really needed his house cleaned out asap. So we just loaded all the books into the bed of my truck and hauled them over there. The lady told us we had to sort through every book to weed out ones with any sort of damage because they wouldnt buy those. I guess for them to sell USED books they have to be brand new.So basically she wanted us to go through them so they wouldnt have to do THEIR JOB and sort them. I swear they are worse than gamestop.Too bad for them. I was so p!ss3d off that I just donated them to the thrift store. If anyone is looking for some old books from late 1800s to early 1900s go check the Centerpoint thrift store.

Terrible customer service. The games are higher than ebay prices. Super smash bros on Wii is more valuable that Wii U and they had the Wii U version prived at %40+ I asked to open up a cartridge so I could see circuit board to tell if it was real or fake. They said that brings down the value, it absolutely does not. Also if someone says that to you dont buy it because its likely a reproduction. I did find a DS game that was $1 less than ebay prices.

It is like a Gamestop meets a bookstore on a steroids. It has movies, games, books, etc. Great place and it is has a great selection. Would recommend.

2nd & Charles has way more than just old, used books, CDs and DVDs. Being a huge Disney fan I was able to find new Disney Parks merchandise slightly discounted from the prices you would pay in the parks. The prices are as low as I would have hoped but it is nice that there is a place locally where I can find Disney merchandise.

This place is heaven if youre a geek or nerd. I went in to check it out. Next thing I knew 2 hours had passed.

I am giving this store 3 stars because they do indeed have a wide variety of items. I went there for books. While they had a ton of books the prices were still high. Especially for being a USED book store. If I wanted to pay $10-$15 a book I’d go to Walmart, target or even books a million because they constantly have sales going on.

I absolutely love this store! They have so many new and used books at great prices. They also have vinyl records and movies! They also have many different kinds of yours and collectibles for all ages. This is a must stop if you are in the area!!!

The gold standard of used media stores!

My mother has an accent, and the employees at this store refuse to put in the absolute minimal effort into helping her. I have to come drop off her book donations for her because she has never had a single quality experience at this location; the employees are rude. Youre offering $1 for a hard back thats barely a year old, and on top of that youre being rude to an elderly immigrant woman? Its despicable.

Bought a guitar there. Its in good condition. Dont expect very much for trade-ins though for many things youd be better off selling online or in a pawn shop.

I always find the most interesting things here...Love all the quirks and products available. Good deals everywhere! Only negative: alot of third parties are used in the buy back process which decreases the offers made to you. I usually do better with resales elsewhere. Book prices are good. Tuere seem to be less books now than there were several years ago. Also the Vinyl prices are pretty high when compared to Amazon/eBay etc. Expect them to run $5 to $10 dollars more than elsewhere

Extensive collections of the typical used games/books/media found at any retailer of this type, although extra-heavy on serious religious works. Vinyl focus is impressive, however, as is the deep Funko collection. Perhaps reading the customer base, former Disney Parks merchandise one might typically find exiled to the Orlando outlets has begun making its way north into their product mix. If theres a glaring deficiency, its in the rather puny audiobook selection (and, relatedly, non-existent classic-radio and full-cast drama materials).

The store seems roomier and more comfortable now. I love the minor changes. As always the staff today were amazing. Asking for assistance never feels like you are bothering the staff like it often does at certain huge chains.

I came to trade amd recieved horrible customer service. I was at the counter waiting for my buyback offer and the woman looked up and acknowledged my presence not once but twice and went back to work on her computer until another family came and proceeded to help them and the family behind them and ignore me. Very rude.

Love this place. Best book store ever

Since theyve opened, theyve gotten really choosy about what they take, so when you bring in books you end up taking half back with you. Just the same, the staff at the sell counter are always a bit off, like theyre annoyed that youre bringing them books, and Ive experienced that passive-aggressive environment 3-4 times (maybe the job sucks, maybe I just came in on bad days, but its worth noting). They barely give you any cash back, but thats to be expected, its better than nothing, though I do wish the receipt for it was itemized. Selling experience as a whole is not great.The price on used books is generally pretty decent, some really good deals, some overpriced stuff, but on anything new youre definitely paying the brick and mortar tax of 10-15% more than online, minimum.Good place to find used books or find common required reading for classes, but everything else the store does is accomplished better at other places.
