Aside from the their warm friendliness, this family knows their spirits, wines etc. I feel like I’m walking into a friend’s house when I drop in to pick up wine after work. There isn’t a bad bottle of wine in the shop and they stock quality bottles at any price range. They’ve always brought in something when I asked for it, as well. Customer for life.

Excellent selection of alcohol. They do special select bourbon bottles (special release editions, select barrels). Great customer service online and in person. Come check it out!! Owned by two brothers!

This store, owners, and their matriarch are all top notch! I thoroughly enjoy the conversation as much as the product. Its great knowing that old style service is alive and well in metro Detroit!

It used to be my go to place for liquor but they are still requiring that you wear a mask. Thats crazy...even Dr Fauci says we dont need one. I just tried ML across the street and they a great selection and lower prices then Kakos.

Went a half hour out of my way to check out the bourbon selection here. Hours said it opened at 11. Says the same on the door. Waited 10 minutes and tried calling. Not a professional place.

Joey and Giovanni are the best! They learn your flavor preferences and always have a spot on suggestion for you. They will go the extra mile to find your unusual requests. Kakos Market is an institution in my area. I have been going to the family-owned Kakos Market since I moved here 12 years ago. Joe and G are the best. Both super helpful, friendly and extraordinarily knowledgeable with every product in their store. They always remember you here and will always have what you are looking for. They have redone the store of the years and it is better than ever. Kakos is always fully stocked with the staples and Joe and G are superb at recommending a perfect wine, spirit or beer if you are buying a gift or are looking for something new. Love this place and cannot speak highly enough of Kakos!

Posted hours on door and online for Saturday is that it opens at 11am. That was a lie and caused an inconvenience to plans, taking me out of the way and adding 30+ minutes due to traffic and closed roads with no reward or benefit. Unprofessional to not be open when posted hours say you should be.

Wonderful team here. Knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Have bought a few aged tequilas here that were fantastic. Was searching for some very small boutique California wineries, and even though Kakos did not carry, they kindly directed me to some stores in the area that might.

Joe and Giovanni are the best. Stayed open an extra 30 minutes for me and were very helpful (like always!). They are knowledgeable and appreciative. Good people who run a great business!

The two brothers who own this store are such sweethearts. They’re friendly, informed, and super helpful. Joe patiently walked around the store with me, giving me the run down on all their stuff when I was looking for holiday gifts for my clients. He also had someone carry everything out to my car for me. It’s the best liquor store to go to in Birmingham.

Wow. I thought these reviews were a little over the top for a liquor store... But I called because I am looking for what is apparently a very hard to find whisky. While Kakos does not currently have what Im looking for, I was able to speak with one of the owners on the phone and he really was as knowledgeable and helpful as a lot of these other reviews mention. With just the level of service I received over the phone, I give them 5 stars.

GLUTEN FREE !!!! These guys are fantastic! They know their stuff on every type of drink imaginable and they are the nicest people ever! If you’re reading this because of the “GLUTEN FREE” intro then here’s the reason I put it. They know their gluten free beers, who can have which ones and which GF beer actually taste good. If you have any issues with gluten and you love beer this is the place you need to go! And as they always say when you’re walking out: God Bless!!!

Best liquor store in town. Always love visiting Giovanni and Joseph (and their mom) to talk about spirits. They know what they are talking about and are always quick to share an opinion. There are other very good, more styled liquor stores around, but none of them carry the knowledge base and charm of Kakos. Do yourself a favor the next time you are in and ask them to suggest something for you that youve never tried. After a short conversation youll walk out with a bottle of something special, and a smile.

Not only should you come here for the selection but for the service as well. The owners are great guys and can answer any question at all in regards to spirits. The remodel on the outside of the building is fantastic too!

Take the time to speak to these owners--they are kind, lovely people who know their business, whether you want an easy summer brew or a complex winter whisky.

The owners are *always* friendly, and very knowledgeable. They will do their best to get what you are looking for, and also carry many small and special runs. They often have in store tastings, usually on Fridays throughout the year.

This is a really nice family owned store. The same family has owned it since at least the mid 80s, which is as far as I can remember. They just renovated the place and it looks beautiful inside and out. They have an excellent upperscale selection. If you want to try something new ask about Cachaca (said like Ca Sha Sa).

Im from an area north of the detroit area, and I suppose Ive never seen a real liquor stire before kakos. They have an unreal selection of liquor. Ive found things other places that they dont have here, but they have a lot. Every kind of bitters for cocktails, a big selection of everything I looked for. And who i assume is the manager was very helpful and polite. It made my trip into town!
