I dont think you can ever spend enough time in Urban Suburban! To truly look at and see everything they have inside you would HAVE to be in the store all day! However, when you come back the very next day, you will feel like the store has all new, different inventory items from the day before!!!

My FAVORITE antique store. So much cool stuff, I just live this store. Masks are required but I noticed someone shopping without one. I stayed away from them! Do you need hand grenades in a glass box? Find them here!

This was my first visit to Urban Suburban Antique, and they have such a cute collection of antiques from a motley of sellers. I really enjoyed perusing the wares from days gone. It was such a lovely place to duck away and be transported to another time, reminiscent of years before. I did not find what I was in search of, but I will be back the next time Im in town. A must visit for any antiques lover.

What a great find this was! It is a lot larger than you would think by looking at the storefront. It goes way back and there are over 60 vendors with booths ranging from antiques to retro to contemporary styles. Prices range from reasonable to high but everything is negotiable. They have vintage cameras, record albums, collectibles, signs, books, furniture etc. If you are looking for a particular piece they probably have it. It’s fun to scout the place out and look at everything though. It’s like a museum! I recommend checking it out even if you don’t “need” anything because it’s fun to look at all the things each vendor has displayed!

The vendors at Urban Suburban keep an eclectic mix of retro finds! Furniture, glassware, records and so much more!! (Not stuffy French/English traditional antiques.) So many fun and unusual gems. Its a must for the quirky, hard-to-shop-for people on your list!!

My experience is from a couple months ago, but still stands out in my memory. This store has some great treasures, but to be honest the customer service, ruined it for me. We just moved to Birmingham from across the country and were looking to supply a whole house full of furniture. We found one piece we were in love with and purchased, but it was quite large. We asked the employees if they could help us move it, and they said “There is only two of us working today,” which I then asked “okay, can one of you help us then”. She walked away and never came back, I went up to the front desk and she was on her phone texting, and while I stood there and waited she looked up, glared at me and said “Yes?” I asked if she couldn’t help move this piece of furniture (that I dropped quite a bit of money on), did she have a dolly I could use? She was just all around rude, and she continued to keep walking by, staring, without offering any help while we were trying to move furniture. At one point, there was a crash of something from the other side of the building and she said “ honestly, we make all of our money off of people breaking things”. Turns out it was the other employee working that was shuffling things around. Eventually a kind man that owned a booth nearby offered to help us move the piece and load it into my car, and we were thankfully out of there. As someone excited to move to Birmingham, the customer service at this place, made us quickly feel unwelcome in town. Now that I know the Crestwood area and community better, it is worth mentioning, that this store is located in a great part of Birmingham, but doesn’t represent what that area of town strives to be. While, I love the piece of furniture I found and I will treasure it, when I look at it I get a ping of regret that I spent money in a store that doesnt appreciate their customers, or represent their community well.

Refused to allow me to shop because I didn’t have a mask. No mask mandates in place. Maybe more people will refuse to shop here due to their ignorance

This is an amazing find in Birmingham. The prices are great, its set up like an antique mall with booths owned by different vendors. The overall vibe is more retro /mid-century modern with definite traditional antiques as well. There is a stall with really cool records. We found some amazing deals on chairs. The staff is really helpful and friendly. If you see something you like, grab it immediately as when we went back to an aisle, the coffee table we were looking at was already gone 10 minutes later.

This is definitely the best antique mall in town. It is hip, not stuffy or redneck like the other malls. Plenty of mid-century furniture as well as groovy up-cycled items. A couple of vintage clothes dealers, very nice vintage t-shirts and womens clothes available. Amazing selection of mid century housewares too. Highly recommended.

Bought several unique items. LOVE!!I have to go back and change from a 5 star to 3. I bought a lovely chest of drawers and went to pick up. The store hours are till 5:30 p.m. so we got there at 4:45 p.m. to pick up and I was also looking for 2 gifts so my friends and I were looking around for gifts. It was raining so we were wrapping the chest in the back to keep it from getting wet and an extremely rude older lady came to the back and said, We close in 5 minutes and it was 5:17 p.m. They locked the door and we were out of the door at 5:25 pm so they closed early to get us out. I had something to buy at the counter but she was so rude, I didnt want to buy it. She needs to do this business a favor and retire because she has terrible customer service and if the vendors want to make money, she needs to go! Clay was the opposite, friendly and helpful but she really ruined our experience. I will probably go back but not if I see her there!

I love this place. Its got such a variety from upscale antiques and art to vintage Modern, to industrial and SteamPunk. Lots of seriously talented artists that creat from up-cycled, repurposed & salvaged materials. Prices arent unreasonable on most things and usually diffetent vendors are having a sale of some sort going on. My favorite booth is the aisle on the far left behind the checkout desk. Its about mid way down on the right and they have some amazing industrial items as well as girls handmade pieces. Last I was in there was a custom crate bed w cubby holes, metal artillery trunks, vintage grain sacks, linen & burlap galore...garland, pillows, purses; chalboards. The list goes on. I usually leave w my minivan full and have learned to not bring my kids w me so I can put more stuff iny vehicle and all friends must drive their own cars to meet me. Seriously, folks dont miss this one.
