Truly such a gem! This place is filled with mid century modern furniture and features lots of cool lighting. There’s TONS of fiesta ware and a wide assortment of fun glassware/bar ware too. Not only did I pick up some amazing finds but I learned a bit too! Fred is a true expert and can share plenty of facts about certain furniture styles and eras. Prices are fair and clearly well researched. Highly recommend to anyone passing through Birmingham or local.

This place is truly a vintage treasure. This antique store is the real deal. Fred and his wife are so kind and friendly. Fred immediately welcomed my husband and I into his store welcome us into his personal “man cave!” 🤣🙌🏼 He was so kind and fun to chat with. As a fellow MCM collector there is SO MUCH GOOD STUFF! If you are looking for atomic and vintage lamps, fiesta ware, and rare pieces of vintage- this is your place. My husband and I felt at home shopping here, unlike other antique malls where you are on your toes. We can’t wait to go back!

Recently we were making a day trip to Birmingham and I called ahead to see if Avondale was open. The owner Fred engaged me from the moment we started speaking asking where I was coming from and letting me know that he would help me in anyway with restaurant recommendations, other antique stores to see, etc. it was very unusual and very welcome in this day and age. When I got to the store he remembered speaking to me and took me around the store personally. I could go on and on but it was a fantastic visit and he is definitely the perfect red carpet for antiquers.

What a great little place! We just bought a house and we’re looking for some mid century modern furniture and were referred here by a friend. The shop is wonderful with a pretty eclectic mix of everything. I could spend hours in here just digging around looking at everything. The owner, Fred, is a super nice and knowledgeable guy and gave us a good deal on some furniture and referred us to another antique place for some additional furniture we were looking for. We’ll definitely be checking back in here from time to time seeing what we can find.

This shop is a must visit if you’re a fan of mid century decor. Everything is very high quality and the shop owner is extremely friendly and knows a lot about antiques and the area. Everything seemed reasonably priced, not too high or too low. It is a small shop, but with plenty of eye catching items. Will definitely visit again if we are in Birmingham!

Very nice store. It’s small but filled with lots of great treasures, each section kinda had a little theme going which was nice. It’s very unique, you find things here that you don’t find in other places. We stayed for a while trying to look at everything but there so much that I’m sure we missed a lot. The owner is very friendly and makes you feel welcome.

We went into the store looking for a pair of vintage speakers. We didnt find the speakers, but did get a chance to speak with the owner of the store. This place is a treasure trove. The inside is FULL of stuff. Lots of furniture and great dishware. I liked the outdoor portion better as I am a DIY project kind of person and they had so much cool stuff. This is the place to start your search, whatever you might be looking for and more!

Fred(owner) loves what he does and it shows. They have many great items for the inside of your house. I. I bought an antique set of 1955 pink place settings that my wife is over the moon about. They also have a huge outdoor area, and I have a feeling this is going to be the place to go for your outdoor vintage patio furniture needs. I checked several stores and the prices on their outdoor patio furniture were the cheapest. Freds motto is higher volume and less profit margin. He would rather sell a lot more items at lower profit margins. I think its just because he likes to meet more people. Be careful though because you might find a great product to purchase, or you might buy something just because you like Fred. I have a feeling Ill be back soon.

Avondale Antiques is not just some ole junk store! Its a marvelous collection of vintage, antique, and collectable items you will not find anywhere else in as good a condition or at as good of a price as here. Always welcomed with a smiling face and more than eager to share their knowledge of the treasures within the walls of this fun store. My suggestion is this, if you find something you just cannot live without....buy it! Because chances are the next time you walk in that treasure will be gone. Dont be afraid to ask questions. the owner Fred is knowledgeable and eager to help you as anyone you will ever meet.Avondale Antiques is a bit off the beaten path from the rest of what is gong on in Avondale. But believe me its well worth the two extra blocks up 3rd Ave. South!
