Great family-owned business! I was thrilled to walk in bare-faced without being looked at like a three-headed demon. Really nice to smell the fresh lumber and hardware store, instead of my own breath. Only wish more NY businesses would be more like Belnap! Support local!
If you’re not old and or white don’t go there, their from the 60s and are terrible people
I would never go to lows as long as belnap lumber is open. Great place for all your lumber
Belknap has the best lumber & best ppl ever! 💜
The service was great, but I was upset that none of the employees were wearing masks. When I asked about it I was told that they were not required to, didnt feel it was necessary and they would put on a mask if anyone was offended. This is not about me being offended, its about the safety of the staff and customers. I shouldnt have to ask.
They called when my product had arrived when to pick up. Great costumer service
Have shopped Belknap Lumber since 1974 great place to buy good quality items but, today tried to search on google to see it they carried an item I need but no such service I assume, as everything was a phone # to call, I am busy dont have time to make calls and drive to each vendor to see if they carry what I need... Need to have so you can view inventory of what carried to be customer friendly.
Very helpful. Great selection! Somewhat pricey, but their wood cannot be obtained anywhere else. Definately much higher grade stock than the big box stores.
Our contractor recommended Belknap. Its was pretty easy to find. Lots of stuff to look at in the show room. Friendly staff. I like doing business with companies that have been in the area for a long time.
I have always had a good buying experience at Belknaps. The quality of the lumber is far superior to anything you can get at Home Depot or Lowes and you dont have to inspect every board like you have to do at those stores. Last year we purchased cabinets for a fireplace replacement project and found the merchandise to be top quality with excellent sales support in that department.
My contractor wanted to go to Lowes or Home Depot - I went along with him, but after walking around a giant warehouse store I asked him why we didnt go to a real lumber yard and told him lets leave and go to Belknap Lumber. We walked in talked to a counter clerk who answered all of my questions and provided all the products (a storm door, ceiling tiles, wood trim and exterior siding products) I needed for my renovation and we walked out the door 15 minutes later. Its a great feeling to know you are supporting a local business invested in our community with knowledgeable staff who can answer all your questions.Everyone wins when you shop at Belknap Lumber
Looking for siding options and the salesman was very helpful and found us some other products that we might use instead.
My family have bought from Belnap for years. The prices and quality are both better than the big box places. We built out house using there lumber, just last year finally finished off the kitchen with everything from them. Family own, family run, so the money stays in the area.
They have an amazing array of doors, windows, decks, siding, Kitchen displays and lots of brochures and literature to supplement their selection.
Ridiculous!! Ordered lumber at the register. Get out to the yard and they dont have it!! Go back in change the order, then proceed to wait for someone to help. Been here for over an hour.
Doesnt even deserve a star at all... Im a Licensed Contractor and today was my first time here, checking out the prices for a job I have lined up...Let me just say, these people are very prejudice. If youre not old and white, they treat you like youre stupid. Not friendly at all, very condescending and patrionizing group of people here. Theyll try to charge you more because they feel you dont know what youre doing or talking about. Rude and unhelpful. You couldnt pay me to spend money here. First and last visit ever. Thank you for wasting my time!
I decided to write a review because I feel its a tragedy to allow this business to continue with a single review, and a bad one at that.I honestly dont know what store the former reviewer went to, because my experience could not have been any more different.I mean, they are human beings, so you do have to take some kind of initiative to engage them and let them know if you need help. Its a small store, not a huge chain like Lowes, so the employees are there for more than following you around. That said, Im a mid-twenties chick who dresses cleanly, but blatantly casual. You would never look at me and expect me to pay thousands for something. I went into Belknap Lumber after being treated poorly at Lowes. They were not at all rude. I walked up to the counter and told the gentleman that I was going to be building a bed frame for a water bed, and I would need specific sized wood (2x10), as well as some guidance. I had plans ready to show the wood shop manager, to whom I was directed.Allan was AMAZING! He was a busy guy, so you have to extend some minor patience as he deals with all the work he has to do and tends with contractors coming in and out of the shop. But he will give you his undivided attention, help you figure out exactly what you need and make sure he knows exactly what it is youre trying to accomplish so that he can cut it properly.Back to the shop to pay for the wood, Joe was also absolutely awesome! He helped me find all the accessories I needed to put the frame together - screws, sand paper, stain, brackets, etc. He also made sure that if there was any scrap wood that fit my needs, to use that instead to save me some money. He went through my check list with me and even mentioned some things that I would need but hadnt thought of.And after all that amazing service, I only paid $150 or so, after shop time for cutting the wood, the materials, and delivery. So, they knew I was not a big ticket customer. They still went above and beyond.
True experts in everything that they do.
Very disappointed in the service here. I went with my husbandto look at some paneling. Neither of the 2 men at the counter lookedup for over a minute. One of them showed us where to lookand when we went back to the desk, neither looked up at usto ask if they could help us. We walked out without either of themsaying a word to us.We are well dressed, normal looking people.I guess bc we werent buying abig ticket item this time around, it wasnt worth their time.Theyve lost our business forever- decking, kitchen, railings.Well give someone else our money.
We have used Belknap Lumber for years. Whenever we had a problem they were there to help.
Professionals for professionals!!!!
