If you enjoy culinary adventures, the Annex Coffeehouse is a surprise you dont want to miss. Huge portions could easily feed two. The price matches the meal--well worth it. The online menu is a great way to allow Chef to introduce new dishes on a daily basis. I marked it down one star because I would prefer unambiguous descriptions for each dish as opposed to the poetically embellished descriptions I experienced on my visit.

Definitely a unique experience. The food was an artful creation of unique and unexpected flavor. The lemon and lavender doughnut was incredible. Not the typical over sweetened lemon flavor with an after taste of lavender. Subtle but distinguished. Prices can be a little high so not somewhere I would go every day, however, I will definitely return and recommend it to anyone looking for unique experience.

This place is my new jam. Killer location in an old downtown Billings building. Preserved, but with modern additions. Their cases were filled with beautiful pastries, my tea choice was the Montana fog. What a treat! Hope it is a permanent on the menu. Look forward to the summer patio. Might be my new outdoor office! 😉

My wife said I needed to write that this place is too cute and Alicia was a sweetheart. The quiche was delicious and moist, the homemade donut was on point, and the coffer and Chai was superb. We really enjoyed the vibe of this place and would highly recommend anyone to step away from the ordinary and give this place a shot. You wont be disappointed and will likely find a new favorite spot!

One of the best coffee shops! Great selection of coffee drinks, from the “usual” options to unique and seasonal flavors. Highly recommend a rosemary lavender latte! There’s always a case full of treats and baked goods, and the atmosphere is cozy but modern. Love watching the train go by, can’t wait to try the patio during the summer. Also really appreciate the easy, free parking - makes stopping by really convenient for a downtown location.

Its a good thing I dont live in Billings or Id spend all my time and money at this cute coffee shop. I walked in to the smell of fresh pretzels (LIKE WHAT?!!) and the cutest place - complete with a kids corner and outdoor patio seating. I grabbed my niece a white chocolate latte and I had an almond milk latte - both were great but I almost stole hers. The flavor was delicious! They also had freshly roasted coffee beans and syrup for purchase to make your own at home.

I ordered a ham croissant heated to go, and despite taking what seemed like forever to heat up, it was cold in the middle. I wouldnt have minded since it was delicious, but once upon a time in another place I got food poisoning from a ham croissant that had been sitting in the display for a bit and wasnt properly heated, so I take such this seriously.

The Annex has a super trendy space. If you love Instagramming, this is a must stop. Their charcoal latte sounds super cool, but it doesnt affect the flavor at all. Their pastries are by far their best strength: they make everything in house, and their attention to detail and good design is impeccable. My favorite one Ive tried is the square (yes, square) hibiscus donut.

The Annex has an urban retreat feel to it and its great for relaxing with a delicious cup of coffee. I don’t like my coffees super sweet, and they make them just right. Each coffee has just enough flavor to make me want to come back for more. I even buy their coffee beans to make lattes at home. They really care about what they make and they take pride in their craft of coffee making. They use different Montana made products which makes your experience unique as well. If you haven’t tried their scrumptious treats you are totally missing out! Their breakfast burritos are to die for, if you like croissant rolls, they have a great ham and cheese one that is worth getting too. This coffee shop is quiet enough that you can have business meetings, or coffee with friends and you won’t feel crowded. I absolutely love the Annex!

Honestly wish I would have gone to Starbucks or city brew. I thought I was going to have a great experience and instead I got a bland coffee that was so over filled I couldnt even take it to my seat without spilling it all over myself and getting all sticky. The same over filling happened with both of my friends coffees as well causing a huge mess. The cashier set the bar extremely high when explaining how exquisite there coffee is. When in all reality it was the same thing I could have made at home. There is no option of blended coffee only hot or iced. (Both extremely bland) Save yourself the hassle of going through the struggle of spilling on your self and buying a coffee you could have made at home for the same taste at way less of a cost. This place is purely for looks. The coffee and atmosphere appear to be great however once you taste the coffee itself it completely ruined the vibe of the coffee shop. Not worth the gas or the cost of buying a coffee. Unless you love bland coffee then this is the perfect option for you.

Perfect place to sit with a laptop and get some writing done with free WiFi and ample places to plug-in. Staff is friendly and helpful and even offered a free warm-up on my tea. Really adds to the quality of the experience. Set right next to the railroad tracks in a historic downtown brick building, the atmosphere is great for creative writing. Cool vibe and the coffee was nice and hot, but I was really unimpressed by the service and baked goods. The girl I interacted with was offputtingly rude. Latte tasted just like milk. Almond croissant had beautiful croissant pastry, but had an unfortunate strong taste of almond extract, was covered in an extremely sweet icing, and did not come filled with any marzipan, even though I asked if it did. The donut was heavy and even though it was fresh it tasted a bit dry and instead of tasting like the flavor it was supposed to be it just tasted like sugar. The bill was very expensive for such mediocrity. Maybe this is great for Billings?

Its unfortunate that 1 bad experience can create lasting impressions. Especially because it was my first time at the Annex and I was beyond excited to try it out! The employee working during the afternoon of 8-22-2017 was incredibly rude when I asked her a question about a drink on the menu. Now I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, everyone has bad days. But it seemed as if my business there was inconveniencing her so much. There was no greeting, no smile, and she might as well have been rolling her eyes the entire time we were conversing. Went I went to add creamer to my coffee she told me they were out. HOW IS A COFFEE PLACE OUT OF CREAM??! Isnt that the kind of thing you send someone out to get right away or borrow it from the Fieldhouse right next door? If it had been one thing or the other, I might have given this place another shot.

Really lousy baked goods. The coffee was decent but let’s be real, you can get good coffee at tons of places. The savory croissants taste terrible. It was over the top mustard. The fancy donuts are well intentioned but poorly executed (ie chai donuts. Sounds great, tastes like cardboard). I’ve been here 3 or 4 times for their pastrys and probably won’t go back for a while to see if they can fix their menu.Suggestion- stick to the basics. Some plain croissants. A normal glazed donut. A scone without 5 flavors.
