I took my truck here and they told me that it would need a complete engine replacement. This job would cost me 8000 dollars. my truck was under warranty but it only covered 3000. Well some time went by cause without a truck I couldnt work to get the extra 5k. I told them my situation and they said I wouldnt have to pay storage if I got the work done there. Well aventualy the bank took it with me not working. So they didnt only charge me 2000 for storage fees when the bank took it they got a second opinion and the motor didnt need replaced . It only needed 1500 of repairs that my warranty would of fixed completely. Cause of this shop I lost my truck lost my job and lost my credit. I will be looking into legal action and would highly recommend not ever going here!

God places us in the right place at the right time!! I needed my muffler put back into my car after it fell out (in the most convenient location possible). I thought I would have to figure out where to get my vehicle towed as I live out of town. AAA recommended this shop and it happened to be right behind me. I made it to the shop safely and was greeted by a mechanic (Jacob) to provide them with my information so they could contact me. I requested an estimate before any work was done and they adhered to my request. My exchanges with the mechanic and the owner were very professional, polite, and knowledgeable. A+++ The price was fair for the work completed, convenient location, as well as speed of service. This place offers a discount for AAA members. The absolute biggest shout-out goes to Darren & the crew at Top Tech West Automotive! Long story short, my dad was getting his car fixed and suddenly passed away before he could get it fixed, let alone pay for it. 😞 The day after his passing, I called Top tech to let them know and Darren told me he would do everything in his power to help my family and I out and that included waiving the $35 storage fee (per day.) It’s been a month today so that has saved our family roughly $1000. That’s not even the best part. We decided to get my dads car fixed and called to get pricing. Tony, the receptionist, was so sincere and helpful, gave me all of the information I needed and was relieved to tell me that they decided to donate all of the labor costs, saving us hundreds of more dollars. 😭 I couldn’t help but cry and thank them for everything they’ve done. They’ve made a rough time for my family just a little bit easier. 😌They are all about giving back, so if you need your car fixed, please give them a call. ❤️

Brought in my 1990 Dodge B250 to have my fuel pump replaced, the owner was VERY accommodating to the situation and helped me get back on road to continue my traveling in no time. Sam was the primary one who worked on my vehicle and was absolutely wonderful. He kept me informed throughout the process, even took me in the back of the shop to give me a full understanding of how everything was getting done and to show me the condition of everything else underneath the van. These people are the greatest con artist in Billings. They had my car for over a month and did not work on it. They “fixed” my car and then I had to bring it back because they hadn’t attached the part correctly which caused more damaged for which they charged. They fleeced me 2,4000 and did not call to talk to ask for my approval, something I would have never approved. As a college kid I was shocked that there was no call or any update to the car and instead after I had to initiate where my car was, they gave me a massive bill a MONTH after they said they would get it fixed in 2 days. They are liars and I believe to be dishonest.

I have dealt with lots of mechanic shops and have found most of them less than fair and honest. Not so here, this was my first time doing business with Darin and Jacob and I could not be happier with the level of service of this small shop but also the personal touch. Darin the owner took the time to make me feel like I was at home and valued me as a person. He walked me through every step of the repair process made sure I understood what was going on. Sent my 4Runner in to get a 2 lift put on it and they absolutely killed it! Had some bumps along the road as the kit I ordered from Suspension Connection had wrong parts put in it after emailing a rep and asking for sure if it was the right kit for my vehicle. Wasnt a huge deal as Darin, Jacob and Sam custom made stronger, better parts. They communicated with me and showed me everything they did along the way. Would HIGHLY recommend coming here for great service and honest people.

Horrible communication. First it was they couldnt get the parts - came to get the car and they were working on it, were going to contact us when it was done. Never called us back - went in again and it had been done for several days without them contacting us. Got car back and items had been stolen from the vehicle while in their possession (not broken into) which they didnt seem to care about. Wont be back.

My fiancé and I had our engine cease while traveling through Billings Montana. Top Tech helped us like no other! When you happen to break down on the side of the highway in the middle of no where and you have your car/truck/van towed, id encourage you to have it towed here.Really nice people, we didnt book an appointment, but we needed to get fixed quick so we could be on our way. They performed a simple diagnostic on my transmission and was able to show me what went wrong.Theyre waiting room shows they have pride in Montana and pride in their work. The people that own this shop are car people, not people that own a shop chasing a huge profit. If I ever find myself in billings again, I would take my van back here, even for just a simple oil change.

The receptionist and head mechanic were absolutely the best. I’ve been around A LOT of mechanics and very few uphold the quality that they did here. Once we explained our situation to them they collaborated with us to discover the best solution and I could tell they simply had our best intentions in mind not upselling for profit when it came to our brake issues. Long story short, if we ever get stranded in Billings again I know who we are going to call haha. They went above and beyond to make it our (very stressful) situation easier to approach and solve.

I sued Darrin in court over doing additional work to vehicles that was never approved. He loves to pull apart your truck, find work that needs to be done & then threaten to leave it unassembled until you pay him the revised price ... all without communication. Judgement was in my favor & he hasnt paid a dime, which will cost you additional money to come after him or re-serve paperwork. Ive accepted I wont get what the court decided, but my advice ... pull his court history (you are entitled to see judgements) regarding lawsuits before you get any work done. Hes a piece of work. And has had years of playing the game.

I was driving through Yellowstone when my car had troubles. I had my car work done here because I don’t know the area and needed a mechanic I could trust. Like the other reviews say, the waiting area has couches which make it comfy and Darin collects food donations for the community.

Triple AAA recommended when we had our vehicle towed. We knew it was a transmission issue. It took 3.5 months to get our vehicle repaired. Thank goodness we had an extra vehicle. Owner was very difficult to work. Promised good communication and never updated us. Told me to come in and he would show me how busy he is and how many emails he sent and asked me if i wanted my hand held during this process. Simply needed my car fixed. Rate to get a rebuilt transmission after they couldnt find a replacement was $5000 for a vehicle that was worth that same amount. He never gave me a quote or got the rate approved. I hope no one has to wait 3.5 months to pay way more than expected to get horrible service like we did.

Brakes blew out on a Saturday afternoon. Owner was friendly, easy to talk to, and followed through on everything the same day. I was back to driving my pickup a few hours after. Highly recommend!

Hurts to leave such a negative review, but I have no choice... DISHONEST AND OVERCHARGES! Smile to your face, stab you in the back. Quoted $2300 for a blown head gasket, walked out paying $6000! Took over 3 weeks and still came out incomplete and charged for things they never did!. Also I was never notified of the insanely growing price. You will bring you car in for one thing and Darrin will call you later with oh we found this list suggesting you should fix everything he finds. This would be good if coming from an honest shop. Heard him doing it to others on the phone in the waiting room. Not surprised to hear many others stories of, for example my old boss, being quoted $300 for radiator repair and paying $900 when its done. I got stranded on the side of the road (In a snow storm) because they never bothered to re- connect the positive lead on my alternator. Charged for work not preformed, charged for front rotors to be resurfaced and down the road (less than 2,000 miles...) had to get them replaced. The brake shop that replaced them said they were never resurfaced, just new brake pads. They even gave me a written statement for legal purposes putting their name on the line because they were that sure! Darrin has completely blown me off after I contacted him about this. He has poorly trained apprentices doing most of the work but charges you top dollar. His excuse for ducking my calls and emails was he just had to fire someone... wonder why! Sadly we will have to waste time when we are back in MT to deal with litigation and having every repair checked by a non biased mechanic for court. Great bathroom and waiting room he built with all this stolen money though! Oh and he insists on you giving 5 star reviews and is near extortment levels about it so I would not trust some of the reviews on here.

Changing my review from a 5 star to a 2 star for multiple reasons. First off, I gave the 5 star because I was told Id get 10 dollars off my bill for a good review. That never happened. Second, we were traveling across country when our truck started overheating and because we needed to get back on the road, they charged us a much higher labor rate to expedite the repair. Third, we discovered about 500 miles later that the transmission cooler lines going into the newly replaced radiator were leaking quite a bit. Had to constantly add trans fluid until we got to our destination and were able to fix it. Ive worked in the automotive industry as a service writer in auto repair for 15 years and Ive never bumped a labor rate just to take advantage of someone because they needed it done quickly. I go out of my way to make sure the job is done right at an honest price. And to top it off, my out the door price ended up being about a hundred dollars more than my agreed upon price. But I guess I didnt have a choice because we needed to be back on the road. These guys are shady as hell.

Absolutely the best customer service!! The waiting room is nicer than my living room!!Had a breakdown on the interstate 930 on a Friday nite and the owner answered the phone and got me in for service first thing in the morning. Has a very caring attitude for his customers. Derrin worked late into the nite making sure his customers were taken care of. Thank you definitely recommend!!!

This place was absolutely fantastic! I came in with a serious problem with my catalytic converter, and they managed to replace it in just a few hours. Any other shops would have taken days to even start working on it! And, a month later, my car is still purring like a kitten. Definitely some high-quality work!They had an incredibly fair price, they provide discounts when you donate to their local church, and the people there are extremely kind! Also, they have the most comfortable waiting room ever!!!I don’t live in Billings, but I know where I’m going to stop when I’m passing through and need anything done.

They are excellent mechanics! I had another shop that I paid for work that wasnt done, and that created other problems I guess they thought I was gullible enough to keep going back. Top tech fixed all the problems and were extremely honest about what needed done, and what they were doing. I was referred by a nephew who was a mechanic here in Billings and I am glad he told me about them!

Strong work ethic and very knowledgeable but they over charge.

It is difficult to find a quality, trustworthy mechanic. It is even harder when you are in need of service thousands of miles from home. Darin not only squeezed us in last minute but provided amazing service and expertise. The price was fair and he even helped us find some local off-roading trails to play on. Darin went above and beyond when we called him weeks after service just to ask his opinion on changes we wanted to make on our jeep. To top it all off this is a Vet owned and operated business. I wish we lived closer!

My son and I were travelling from Seattle to Omaha, NE. when our truck broke down in Billings. It was the Labor Day holiday weekend so the tow truck delivered our truck to TopTech on Monday, but of course they were closed. The service we received was outstanding. They had our truck repaired and by Tuesday afternoon we were back on the road. After about an hour of travel, we received a follow up call from them to make sure we werent having any issues. Customer Service is definitely a huge part of their sucess.

Darrin was absolutely amazing! He knows how to operate this auto shop like the back of this hand. This dude gets cars in and out quick and has one of the most genuine work ethics I have ever seen. Darren had our vehicle for 9 months. First we brought it in and he said he fixed it but we had to bring it back because we had the same issue.After bringing it back because he wasnt able to fix it the first time he was careless and got our vehicle stolen by leaving the keys in it and parked outside. He tried to blame it on a handicapped person who works for him but our cameras showed he was the last one to drive it. Its nice to know he lets just anyone drive other peoples vehicles. After our vehicle was stolen he didnt call to let me know it was missing. In fact I called him to ask where it was and he said, Its in the shop. After the vehicle was recovered we mistakenly towed the vehicle back to his shop thinking he would fix it right away and feel some remorse about being negligent but instead he ended up taking 5 more months to fix our vehicle. He blatantly ignored our insurance company and failed to file an insurance claim on his end and charged us for the vandalism that was done. We called nearly each week and he had nothing but excuses and Darren eventually he told us to stop calling because he wont fix our car any faster. All in all he had our vehicle for 9 months, no urgency, no apology, no discount.

Darin and Jacob were fantastic! I realized I had zero A/C at the beginning of summer. I tried recharging the system myself, but the valves were shot. Darin got me in on a Saturday, and stayed late to get the job done. Unfortunately, a different part failed shortly thereafter. Darin and Jacob worked around my schedule to get my vehicle in and repaired. I have cold air again! Very professional, easy to get along with, and knowledgeable. Veteran/military friendly, too. My father has sworn by Top Tech for years, and I can definitely see why.

Starter went out in my wifes car. Went to a friend that botched the repair and top tech came to the rescue. Fixed the starter and a few other issues that we did not know about. Was way under there estimate and very affordable. 10 out of 10 would recommend.

The owner of the business is friendly & professional. I had a sudden problem with my vehicle one day. The next day, I brought my vehicle here for it to get fixed and it got fixed in a timely & professional manner. Plus, the price to fix it was reasonable.

I had turbo issues 1000 miles into a 2000 mile trip and they got me back on the road quicker than I could have hoped for. Great people who do whatever they can to help.

They were very nice to us during the service, very kind and professional. When we called to ask if they were open they said that they were open until 6 (it even says it on google that they are open until 6) and we arrived at 5:10. They worked for 45 minutes on an AC charge and when we got the bill is was almost 400 dollars. They allowed us to donate some money to help the local church to knock down the price. We asked why it was so high and they said that they worked after closing hours to fix our car, even though they said that they were open until 6. They charged over 300 dollars in labor because they failed to communicate their hours properly to us. Had I had known it would have been that expensive I would have delt with the hot air blowing on us for seven hours on a road trip. I honestly felt like I was cheated and taken for a ride.

Did not do specified repairs but charged for repairs that werent asked for or okd. Then wouldnt prepare bill so it could be paid. Knew how much was owed, paid the bill still wouldnt prepare bill. Didnt have time to go thru all the receipts to prepare bill, he makes an appointment for next day to give me bill. I drive half a block he calls and says come back the bill is ready. ABSOLUTELY WORST EXPERIENCE IVE EVER HAD!

I dont ever go to mechanics due to the negative stigma of getting ripped off, but Ill always recommend these guys. Theyll go out of their way for you and do what YOU need not what makes them the most money. Great quality and at a very fair price. I was dead in the water with my truck and needed to go to work and I was told exactly the problem via a cell phone picture within 15 min while others tried saying it was something else. They got me in that day and had me on the road again before I had to go back to work(which was 2 days, but a Saturday/ Sunday 2 days). Go with them if you want someone to actually care..... or find out the hard way by going with someone else.

Top Tech is amazing! I came in with multiple misfires and my check engine light throwing multiple codes. Darin got me in when it worked with my schedule and had it back in a timely manner. The staff is wonderful. My suburban runs the best it ever has. I refuse to take my vehicles to anyone else.

My wife and I are moving across the country from Wisconsin to Portland Oregon and we had a slight inconvenience with our van we found out that it had some vacuum line problems and etc. Darin at top tech automotive went above and beyond, I think I drove him a little crazy because I was a basket case waiting and calling the shop but they handled me very well and did everything over the top for me.I mean our vehicle is night and day now, highly recommend!

Very friendly and great to deal with. We were 1100 miles away from home when our chevy Malibu started leaking coolent. They were able to diagnose everything quick. They got us in and fixed us up in a few hrs to get us back on the road. If we werent 1100 miles away wed make them our go to mechanic all the time!

Heard recommendation for shop & detoured vacation 100 miles to go here. After review, manager provided verbal estimate of $1000 including parts & labor. Day 1, manager ordered & received wrong part. Day 2, manager has us order part ($450 + overnight shipping $125). Day 3, parts arrive 10am. Manager works on RV but goes to lunch. Were told wed be on road early today. After calls by asst manager to manager, learn manager had injury needing doctor & he refused to let other employees work on our RV. Late day 3, he returns at 3:30 & begins working on our vehicle until early evening. Ready at 9pm. NOW told our bill is over $1600 & $200 to be discounted. Charged overtime. SHOCKED. Taken advantage of as an out-of-towner. When back home, our local transmission shop provided estimate of same work & learn we were overcharged $500.00. 1)Informed person to remove recommendation for this shop from RV Group & recommend group avoid this shop. 2) file complaint with BBB. 3) file complaint with Google & Yelp.PRO: Allowed to stay in our RV outside shop.

While driving cross country to get back home to Oregon, my AC compressor pulley was grinding itself. Top tech was the only shop within 30 miles that was willing to even see us on the same day we called. Darin helped us out and was so nice there whole time. The whole shop was accommodating to our situation and got us back on the road as soon as they could. Darin was amazingly helpful and worked with us each step of the way. I was referred to Top Tech after my passenger light failed to come in. I came in as a first time customer the day after and was taken care of right away. They diagnosed the problem immediately including the check engine light I had on. The staff is very knowledgeable and fast. I appreciated the last minute help since they seemed busy. I have had no problems with it and they have made sure that all of my questions were addressed and they showed me all the parts they replaced and why.Darin worked with me on the cost and made sure I know and understood all the charges. Darin and the crew at Top Tech are absolutely wonderful. I have had my vehicle to them on 2 different occasions, once for a major undertaking dealing with the transfer case and just today to have the door latch replaced.Both times Darin explained in detail what was going to be done, provided a detailed estimate and answered all my questions. When I picked up my vehicle on both occasions it was sparkling clean inside and out, literally like a brand new car.I highly recommend Top Tech for all your automotive needs!

Darin and the gang are great ppl and the 3yr warranty on all repairs lets me know they stand by their work. Very flexible and even did a temporary repair so I could still work that day until the part came in. My hats are off to you.

I took my Chevrolet express in for repairs on a weekend because the recommended place was not open until Monday, first mistake. Second mistake, signing the paper allowing them to do the repairs and trusting Darren when he said Ill give you a call before we spend any of your money. I had to be the one to call to get any and all info and the only thing close to an estimate that he gave until the end was that I would be happy because it wasnt my fuel pump. They charged $366 for diagnostics which at checkout was described to me as a breakdown of $149/hr for 2.5 hrs of work! Not to mention the lowest part markup was 200% the purchase price. When i mentioned this the reply was well we could have charged you 300% thats where we make our money. You can imagine that I actually wasnt happy with not only not getting my vehicle completed over the weekend but also getting an overly priced bill for a pretty simple job. Who charges $149/hr for a domestic repair? They changed my mass air flow sensor, a battery terminal bolt, and a cracked pvc elbow. One of their technicians said the work took 2-2.5 hours. The only slightly positive thing was that they did end up coming down on the price to $635. I wish I had waited until Monday and gone to browns where the locals had suggested I go. I dont know where all these stellar reviews are coming from but that definitely wasnt my experience.

Professional, courteous, fast, affordable. After calling around, their price was absolutely fair and they were honest in their assessment. I left a little humbled by how kind the staff were and how they went above and beyond to help me out, as I traveled through the city and needed a quick fix. Treated me like family. Kept me updated in the status of my car as I waited comfortably on a large sofa in the front room. They had me on my way, and I will keep them in my list of contacts going foreword. If I lived here, I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Caused damage to my car And never acknowledged me when I asked him to cover the repairs... He boasts a good warranty and then does not come through. Do not use this company for your repairs

This was the best experience I have had with a mechanic. They were friendly, helpful, and did excellent work. They worked with me when money was tight and understood that sometime life throws you a curve ball and you need a little help. I cant recommend them enough.

Friendly Fast Service. Very clean waiting area. Staff was very friendly. We were traveling through and they got us right in and back on the road. If you donate canned food for food bank they discount your bill. Highly recommend!

This place is a God send! My family and I were on our way to our vacation in Yellowstone. A strange clicking noise start happening on our diesel. We called multiple places and even went to the dodge dealership when we discovered Top Tech Automotive. The owner was up front with us and made us feel comfortable from the moment we arrived. The mechanics did everything possible to get us off on our vacation safely. They truly made us smile. They know hospitality, they accommodated to the best of their ability. I would recommend these guys to anyone. Thank you Top Tech for everything you did to let our vacation carry on as happy and stress free as possible!

These guys were honest, knowledgeable, and very friendly. They gave us professional vehicle advise, movie advise and even some free food. When they did not have the parts to fix the problem they accurately diagnosed what we needed and charged us nothing. Would come back 10/10.

Im not one to typically write reviews, but I can not say enough good things about the service that Top Tech Automotive provided. I was traveling across country and happened to have an oil pump seal go out in my Subaru, among other things. The owner Darin was completely transparent about what he was doing, even taking me back into the shop to show me what was going on. He did a thorough job finding the problem and replacing everything needed so I could get back home safely. Darin and his crew all had great attitudes and truly seem to care about the customer.Its difficult to find an automotive shop as trusting and reliable as Top Tech Automotive. If youre in need of repairs in the Billings, MO area Top Tech is the place to go.

How do we as a community get this con man out of business?

I was Traveling from Wisconsin to Jackson Hole when my battery light came on right before Billings. I stopped here to get it checked out. Despite being extremely busy, Darin was able to look at my car and get it fixed within a few hours! These guys are absolutely awesome!

I was traveling and ran into 4wd trouble. Darrin and his crew got me in right away and got me back on the road. they are affordable and honest guys.Thanks guys
