Just ordered my daughters wedding dress from this store and the experience was exceptional! They have a fantastic selection, the store is very nicely decorated, and Rachel, our consultant, was fabulous! The whole experience was first class. Rachel did a great job getting the whole wedding party involved, she was very patient and fun and, most importantly, my daughter has a perfect experience. As the mom I was also very pleased with the cost of the dress, their selection really accommodated a wide range of budgets which was great. I highly recommend them!
I had a great experience trying on bridal gowns at La Belle Vie! I found several that I liked that were all in my budget (below $1800). The consultant I worked with was nice and helped me in and out of all the gowns. My only negative point, and my reason for 4 stars instead of 5, is that the plus size section is extremely small compared to the rest of the store. I was definitely disappointed when I walked in and saw it. I still managed to find a few that I loved, but would have liked to see more.
Avoid getting alterations done at La Belle Vie at all costs — because it will cost you not only overcharged pricing, but also very likely the quality of your dress. La Belle Vie does have pretty dresses, but their seamstress, Ally, is in no sewing shape to alter wedding, bridesmaid or Mother of the Bride dresses. Her so-called *Oh-So-Elegant* branding should really be named *Oh-So-Disastrous*. Ally is either completely incompetent or downright lazy, and the bridal shop owner turns a blind eye to how her wedding seamstress is taking shortcut after shortcut to alter gowns. Ally doesn’t care that it’s your wedding day. She doesn’t have work done for your appointments, and lies that requests you’ve had are complete. I know because I am petite and asked for certain alterations, such as bringing up the bust. My second seamstress, who initially labeled my dress as *ruined* verified she hadn’t followed through, among other things. If I hadn’t nearly begged Ally to finish my dress 2 weeks before my wedding, I would have walked down the aisle in an ill-fitting carpet bag. My dress was in such terrible shape that my dad suggested I hold my bouquet in front of my gown for EVERY picture. My mom’s dress was also beyond repair because of Ally. Less than 2 weeks before my wedding, we were both scrambling to mend my dress and find my mom a completely new Mother of the Bride gown. I was extremely blessed to find a talented new seamstress who saved my beautiful gown, but we never should have had to go through such uncalled drama in an already stress-prone time.
Beautiful atmosphere and decent dress selection, but I thought the customer service was lacking. Went there recently to look at wedding dresses. It was my first time trying on dresses, so I wasnt completely sure how various types/silhouettes would look on my body vs photos on a designers website. Picked out 5 or 6 dresses to start with the consultant (I think her name was Hayley?), but once I started to try them on, there was not much in the way of asking questions to really help narrow down my style or help find something else in the store Id like better. There were no other customers in the store either.Sweet girl and was very helpful getting in and out of the dresses, just didnt seem like she knew the stock very well.
I ordered my wedding dress, paid for it, everything was great. They called me two weeks later to tell me that actually the dress I purchased had been discontinued. I came back in and ended up purchasing the sample dress, and we negotiated a price and they agreed to have the dress dry cleaned. There was no actual apology given when I returned. MONTHS later, they were still telling me it was still at the cleaners. Three months after purchase, I was able to pick it up. There was no receipt available to show it got dry cleaned, so Im not sure it actually was.
I love this place! They had exactly what I was looking for, and the staff was friendly and honest. They truly want you to look your best on your special day and I appreciated that so much!! I highly recommend going here. In my book they are the best place to find a wedding dress, they may be small but they had quite the selection!
Great place! Its a bit small, but for where it is located it has a pretty good selection! I wanted a dress that I couldnt find anywhere but was able to try dresses on that had different bits from the dress. I am definitely going to be ordering my wedding dress through them!
I went there for my very first wedding dress shopping experience and I didnt know what to expect but the crew in there made it perfect! I felt comfortable and welcome and never overwhelmed. They have a great atmosphere and even better staff!
While my daughter and I did find a gorgeous dress here for her wedding, the alterations with Ally (La Bell Vies seamstress) were horrendous and caused us more stress than we could ever have imagined! More than once when we turned up for an appointment, the work hadnt been complete. My daughter came from Chicago for these appointments and once Ally met us at the door to let us know she hadnt had time to work on her dress! Two weeks before the wedding, the wedding dress still had lumps around the waist and Ally told us to make sure to steam them out before the wedding! (Later we discovered Ally had taken shortcuts and sewn all three layers at once, which caused this problem.) This is when we called it quits, and found an outstanding seamstress in Skokie who did an amazing job with repairs! Not only would Ally not refund our money, but the owner (Betsy) distanced herself from the seamstress... said she was independent of her shop! This is outrageous! The owner allows the seamstress to WORK FROM HER SHOP, which to us means she should stand behind her alterations. Also I had my dress altered with Ally, and it was totally ruined. Two weeks before my daughters wedding, I was scrambling to find a new dress! Only because we found such a wonderful seamstress in Skokie were we both able to have such gorgeous dresses for this momentous occasion! AVOID THIS BRIDAL SHOP! The owner does not stand behind the work of her seamstress!
The shop itself had great selection. I found a gorgeous dress. But their recommended seamstress, Ali (Alexandra Cantrill), on the other hand, was not. She should not continue to be recommended. Learn from my mistake and take your dress elsewhere for alterations. She took in too much on the sides and ruined the shape of the dress, I couldnt sit down, I had bulges of fabric under my arms where she took it in instead of the hour glass shape it had before she touched it. When I told her I couldnt sit down, she told me thats just how it is and to scrunch it up at the hips every time I sit. I politely said I wanted to take it to get a second opinion. When I decided to take it to someone my friend recommended, who has 25 years experience, she was appalled. First, the taking in the sides that she did was a quick job. It was not done correctly. Then, Ali had it pinned to hem, but thank God it was never done. She was going to chop off the part that shaped the bottom of the dress. Also, the bustle she was going to do was not the correct one for the style of my dress. It would have ruined the look of all the layers. This tells me she is very inexperienced. I have tried to google her, nothing. No facebook page, nothing. As far as I can tell she was a consultant of theirs until a few months ago. Also, she charged me $350 compared to $130 from my independent seamstress with 25 years experience. The shop then continued to recommend her to all my girls as they picked up their dresses. I had already talked to them all and explained what was going on. I had picked up my dress at 3:30 on the 6th. After I left, one of my bridesmaids came in to pick up hers and waited at the front counter for somebody to help her for several minutes, long enough to see a note to another employee that said Good luck at 3:30!, meaning they expected a confrontation with me of some sort. (Which I again was nothing but polite.) Leaving a note like that in public view was unprofessional and unnecessary. I had every right to pick up a dress I paid for in full plus pre-paid for alterations not yet completed. If there was anything confrontational, it was coming from the employee or the store that didnt want to lose their share of the alteration charges.
La Belle Vie has an excellent selection of beautiful gowns. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I had a wonderful experience and found the perfect dress!
Rachel was great, super helpful for a bridesmaid, who waits till the last minute to get a dress!
Beautiful dresses, reasonable.
