Thank you, Willie, for your great work! My Redwing boots are resoled and look brand new again! It would have been $100 plus shipping if I went with Redwing authentic service but Willie had exactly the same Vibram soles Redwing would have put. I paid $78. So, I saved on service and shipping. He also does welt construction repair. I will be going back to him when my Wolverine boots need a repair as well. Highly recommend Willie Shoe Repair!
Ive taken all my familys shoes and boots to Willies shop for years. He is an expert shoe cobbler, and does outstanding work each and every time. Would highly, highly recommend!
After trying multiple shoe repair locations, I will only go to Willie’s. He always makes my shoes look like new and charges very reasonable prices. Sometimes my shoes have even lost their shape, and Willie reinforces them and gives them structure again, still at very competitive rates. I highly recommend Willie’s. His shop is tucked away at the back entrance to the Wildwood Shopping Center and down the steps to a basement retail space.
BEWARE!!!! I normally do not write reviews but this experience has compelled me to inform others. This cobbler, Willie, is not ethical in the least bit. If I could give him 0 stars I would. I asked him if he could repair the heel on a single shoe and to add tips and soles. He said he could do this. When I went to pick up my shoes, the photos describe what I received in return. He literally destroyed BOTH heels! My shoes look WORSE after he worked on them. To add insult to injury he painted the soles a hideous shade of green that was not there before. I tried to reason with him and he acknowledged he should have waited for me to determine if the paint matched and that he actually could NOT fix the heel. Despite this he stubbornly defended his sloppy, poor work and bad choices. I dont see how you can operate a business and brazenly refuse to refund a customer for your mistakes! This guy is not professional at all. He is unreasonable. He also tried to tell me that he works on shoes over $12,000 ( insert eye roll) and designer shoes, what does this have to do with anything with quality craftsmanship and customer service? The pictures says it all. If you want to entrust this person with your valuable soles, youve been warned.
Great service, reasonable prices and quality repair. Highly recommend!
I brought in two pairs of cowboy boots I thought were a lost cause (one was extremely tight & narrow, and the other’s leather was torn up across the ankle).Willie did a beautiful job patching & refurbishing the torn boots, and he stretched the small ones multiple times— until they were perfect! Willie is a true craftsman, and I’ll definitely be back for any future shoe/leather repairs :)
Over the past five years, I have used Willies Shoe Repair for keeping my Birkenstocks in tip-top shape annually. Most recently, I delivered an oil-splattered pair of Uggs (dont cook in Uggs) to Willie, and he managed to get oil stains off of the suede. He was communicative, responsive, and he managed my expectations well -- and I was so pleased with the result!
Quick and professional! My shoes needed a small repair and they were returned to me in beautiful condition for a reasonable price! I will come back here if I ever need shoe repairs.
I cant say enough about this shop, the owner has consistently been able to clean and adjust a variety of shoes Ive brought him over the years. Hes also generous with his knowledge and on more than one occasion has given me quick tips instead of taking the shoes and charging me for a service. He even does small jobs like quick shoe stretching free of charge. Seriously, cant recommend him enough.
Good experience.
Willie is fantastic. He altered a bag so I could have a longer strap and it looked like it came that way. I was so impressed and will absolutely use him again. I highly recommend.
Reasonable pricing, great work, convenient location, flexible schedule and friendly staff
Beware. I asked to have broken zipper pulls replaced on a horn case. He tore into the case a bit with screwdriver and declared it a “difficult job”. $40 for each zipper he wanted, $80 total. And it could take two weeks or more! I asked if I could buy the zipper pulls from him and try repair myself but he refused. So I left and ordered zipper repair kit online for about $20. A bit tricky, but I replaced them myself in under an hour. Works great! YouTube has decent how-to videos. And I have a set of various size zipper parts and tools now for the future zipper problems.I posted this factual review once before but the text was removed. I guess Willie doesn’t want you to know how he handles jobs he really doesn’t care to take.
I brought a pair of boots to Willie’s thinking nothing could be done, but he completely brought them back to life (seriously, like new!) for a fraction of the cost of a new pair. I’ll be returning with many more pairs in the future. What a nice guy!
Wonderful shop! Was able to accommodate a quick turnaround job within an hour. Friendly and courteous. Ill be back.
Theyre very nice, but couldnt fix vegan leather shoes. Found a store in NY that did to perfection!
It excites me whenever I find a local business that offers great customer service and quality work. I had my shoes resoled and a zipper fixed on my wifes handbag. The work was perfect and it did not break the bank. BEST place to get cobbler work done in the area.
Outstanding Service. After a Southern Maryland shoe repair shop botched a boot repair and failed to adequately stretch my boots, I found Willies. I took three pairs of boots in for servicing. The repairs were completed as promised and on the date promised. I am totally satisfied. Additionally while discussing the services desired, a customer entered the establishment for heel repairs and polishing -that task was completed in minutes and the customer on his way. IMPRESSIVE!!!I will patronize this establishment again and again. Thank you.
Just an update. Had a pair of shoes resoled by Willie. Same high quality, reasonqbly priced, ane great service...as Ive come to expect in over 7 years of shoe repair experience with him. And during my pick up, he is fixing a squeak noise found on the pair I worn for my pick up. Willie is truly a craftsman in the old school manner of great quality and service. You will not go wrong going to him!Once again, Im pleased to write another excellent review for Willies Shoe Repair. Ive been going to this cobbler for years. I have never been disappointed with their quality of work and customer service. And they back up their repairs. For instance, I had a squeak if develop after having a sole replacement. Willie assured me it would be resolved to my satisfaction. And he did, as promised and on time. I like that Willie offers a consistent, high quality, dependable, timely and friendly service. And if something should ever be amiss (which is rare), he follows through to fix it without excuses, whining, etc. If you want a hassle free shoe service (and more, he repairs leather goods and makes keys too), Willies is your place!
This place is a goldmine! I took three pairs of my girlfriends pumps to get repaired and the total was around $30.1st pair - Back of the heal was scratched after she accidentally put the heel through a sewer grate (thank you DC). They filled in the scratch which was pretty deep, and then somehow recreated the layered wood pattern on the heel.2nd pair - replaced bottom of a worn out heel. Didnt even take them 15 minutes to do this, and they even shined and cleaned the outside of the shoe!3rd pair - The heel was worn down to the metal piece that holds the little rubber/plastic bit that touches the pavement. The exterior of the heel was scratched up because of this and looked horrible. I actually thought they could not be fixed. Two days later, all is good, and the shoes looked great.Needless to say, these guys are awesome, quick and extremely nice. I will be back there for all my shoe needs in DC.
Gave me inserts that brought to life really worn down dress shoes that I didn’t want to throw out. Took care of walking shoes and is currently repairing basketball shoes that Under Armour didn’t want to do anything with when I didn’t have a receipt for $20 per item. He can do inserts on the same day if you need them.
The quality of repair is excellent-you will save money coming here rather than going and buying a new pair! The turn over is FAST, next day its been for me. The ONLY negative thing is the parking especially at lunch time, as its packed with restaurant parking. So go before or after the rush. This FAR BEATS dropping your shoes off at the dry cleaning company- you go right to the source!
We had a terrific experience with Willies Shoe Repair. Willie handled a complicated baseball glove relacing on short notice, and could not have been more courteous and helpful. The work was top-notch, and the pricing was very reasonable. We certainly will be back.
Excellent advice and service, my favorite boots look brand new. Im planning on bringing a few other items in the near future. This was my first time to this location and I had to search a little around the chaotic Wildwood shopping center. Hes tucked away around the back, so parking shouldnt be an issue.
This guy does amazing work. I lived in Germantown and now in So. Maryland and I still will brave the beltway to take my shoes to Willies.
It’s not my first time to have my shoes repaired by them, but I got disappointed for the first time. It was made clear by them that my shoes were going to be ready this morning but when I went to pick them up, they had forgotten about it.
Willies Shoe Repair does more than shoes. They do luggage including guitar cases. Willie himself took my dilapidated vintage 80s Peavey Razer case that was literally splitting at all seams, had torn tolex, needed a latch replaced and turned it into new.And he did it in an extremely quick turnaround and only charged me the estimate though it was clear the restoral work was laborious and worthy of a higher price tag.Ive been to all the Bethesda shoe repair shops and Willies is hands-down thebest Ive dealt with. They will get all my future business and just to mention, Willies is tucked behind Wildwood Shopping Center right on the end of the Grosvenor Lane entrance (before Old Georgetown Rd).
Great service Great people and fixed my shoes up. Doesnt take advantage of you.
Such a kind little guy that works here!
Fixed my shoes.
