I went to the Berkeley store at the suggestion of a friend and met Mohammed who is a wealth of cycling knowledge. And through his suggestions I’ve purchased 5 bikes. 2 road, 2 hybrid and a cruiser. 3 of the bikes were gifts for my family but Mohammed keeps all of the bike in perfect running condition and has become a friend through the years. So great sales and service I received from Mohammed has kept me coming back. Since COVID there has been a shortage of bikes and help but they are worth the wait.

What a delightful shopping experience! I have no clue what I am doing in the bike world but wanted to make the investment into a nice bike for my daughter for Christmas. When I inquired, they were really helpful, made suggestions, and I bought the bike at the beginning of December, they stored the bike for me so I could keep the gift a surprise.Highly recommend the store, they are welcoming, the service was great and Im so glad that I met them!

Was not very happy with the experience of ordering/purchasing bikes here. We ordered bikes in February of 2021, kept being told “they’re coming.” We asked them to give an update so that we wouldn’t be left holding the bag when summer rolled around but the updates were few and far between and only provided with my NUMEROUS calls. Eventually it got to the point that every other store was out of stock and we had no choice but to wait…One bike FINALLY arrived roughly in May (months after it was ordered and paid in full). The second bike was continuously delayed until finally 5 months later when it arrived in July.There was nothing ever really done to accommodate the issue. Never an alternative offered unless we paid much more for higher end bikes.Some of the employees were great to work with but sadly others were extremely rude and lacked any real ability to interact with customers. Some would simply just pass the issue down the line and do nothing to help. Cool that we finally have both bikes but very sad that we have missed multiple months of good weather with them. Disappointed in the way this has been handled overall, especially given the overall investment in these bikes.

I went online the night before my visit to D and D in Berkley. When I walked in the door the bike I had decided on was right there ! Jeff was my salesman. He offered me a test ride in the neighborhood behind the store. It was much nicer than just a ride in a parking lot. The seat on the bike was a bit too high. Jeff took off the reflector making the height perfect. He then installed the reflector on another part of the bike. Overall my experience at D and D was a very pleasant experience. I’m enjoying my new bike - a GIANT Liv.

As always, the best bicycle shop around! Stopped in on Memorial Day inquiring about a fix for my rear brake. Jeff took my bike to the back room where Nick, the technician, was already busy working on another bike but he graciously stopped for literally 30 seconds, adjusted my brake and then sent me on my way! Thank you D&D!! You’re absolutely the best!!

My husband and I just paid $600 for a new bicycle. We left it at the shop to get a kickstand put on and returned 20 minutes later with the truck to pick it up. When my husband, who is not white, went in to pick it up they asked he could verify information about the transaction. They claim they needed to verify that the ticket was closed out. We have been purchasing products from the store for 30 years and will never stop foot inside of there again after The Way We were treated.

This was a horrible experience. I went to this shop because they had late hours and it was close to where I live. My regular shop had closed for the day. I had a tire that kept losing air and I couldnt find where it was coming from. The mechanic told me that I needed new tires. I told him that I had bought the tires a month ago. He told me that the tires I had were only good for a ride or two. Since I really needed to get the tire fixed I purchased one tire. When I got home and inspected the original tire I found a very small wire was the culprit. The mechanic never bothered to inspect the tires. He just wanted to sell me something. I WILL NEVER USE THIS SHOP AGAIN. It was all BS with the mechanic. What a scam. I would give zero star if I could.

Purchased my first BMX bike (GT) backe in the 80s. Took my 13 year old there now 15 to buy his first mountain bike (Giant). The service was top notch. The warrenty that came with the purchase was superb.I just went in to get two of my tubes replaced (My 35 year old Stumpjumper) that was not purchased at the store. I also had one of my sons replaced.Mohamad who has been in the bike reapair business for 75 years took care of me. replace all three tubes in about 10min. The man is the real deal served our country and is a master with bike knowledge.I would recommend this store anyone looking to purchase or may need bike repiars.

Horrible customer service. Tried calling many times, only goes to voice mail, leave a message asking for a call back and you will not receive one.Why I showed up - Wanted 2 bikes/repaired tuned up.During pandemic, had to wait in line outside. Fine, makes total sense, be safe.Waited in line for over an hour (3 people in front of me) to be told they only repair bikes bought from them!!!. Since I could not talk to anyone on the phone and this is not stated on their website, I was left to waiting in line.......Seems simple enough to me, COMMUNICATE with your customers!!!Pick up a phone, update a website, talk to your customers waiting in line to set expectations. Business 101 stuff guys.....you can do better D & D.Talking specifically about the Berkley locations.

Waited in line for an hour because I needed a new tube for a flat tire. They declined to give me service because I didn’t buy my bike from them, which doesn’t make any sense to me since it’s practically impossible to buy a bike right now due to a halt on importation with regards to the pandemic, so what’s the point? You guys lost a customer.Edit: in response to the owner’s comment. I understand things have had to change since this pandemic. Regardless, it doesn’t make the least bit of sense to not service a bike because I didn’t buy it from you guys. Other shops are accepting bikes that weren’t purchased from them. And since the supply of bikes is extremely low at the moment I fail to see why you’re only going to service bikes that were bought from your store. Other places are backed up too and it’s understandable. Still doesn’t mean it’s a wise business move on your part. That’s unethical and in my humble opinion a disservice to the cycling community.

A disappointing experience. This was our first visit and would not return. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful. However, we purchased a $400 new bike rack at the register. The business then brought us a “used” bike rack (not in a box) with scratches. The employee maintained the product as new condition when confronted on its appearance. Had to get a refund.

Refused to service my bike because I didnt buy a bike from them. I moved here from minnesota last month and never have I experienced something like that. If management reads this, you should revisit that policy (and Ill revisit this review). Poor, poor decision.

I want to support them because they are my LBS but I have been let down multiple times. Online orders of in stock components are things they do not carry and never have. Plus, the guy in charge of service is awful to deal with. Two stars because the rest of the staff is nice and dont deserve to work for such a rude, angry person

He walked us through the hybrid bikes and ended up with the best fit for myself and my wife very happy with the choice we made after checking out about 4 different models ended up with the giant cypress dx 2020 model and my wife chose the liv hybrid model highly recommend to anyone wanting a high quality bike. If I could have given no stars, I would have. My fiance and I dropped off a bicycle over Labor Day weekend and the bike was promised to be done by Wednesday. The shop was closed for Labor Day, which is fine, its a holiday. However, we have been waiting a week now, and have been constantly getting told that the bike is still not done. Called Wednesday, was told that they would have it done by the end of Wednesday or Thursday before noon. That was a lie. Its now Friday, we still dont have the bike and have been getting the run around as to when it will be done. My fiance needs this bicycle to get to work. We cant drive due to medical problems. So now were both stranded, have no way to get to work, and are out a bicycle. Do not use them. They are a waste of time if you need anything done quickly.

I had an excellent experience as a first-time bike buyer. He really walked me through all of the different types of bikes in the shop, which helped me narrow down what I needed for my goals. We were able to take the time to try them on in the shop, and he patiently walked me through the different peripherals/add-ons without trying to upsell me on anything. I walked in wanting a bike without any knowledge of what I needed, and I walked out with a bike Im happy with, and for a great price.

HIGHLY recommended. Great friendly knowledgeable staff, awesome service, and arent trying to oversell me on things I dont need. Ill be a customer for life :)

I have been going to this bike shop for several years. Its nice to have a local bike shop to bringing my precious bikes in for repair. Muhammad has been wonderful mechanic in repairing my bikes and bringing them back from almost disaster., he makes the place very unique. I really appreciate the fact that Mohammed help save one of my road bikes, he actually had to pull out surgical tweezers to remove all of the shrapnel in my gear shifters,replace my warn cable lines. He was able to fix my bike with the heavy workload he had to make sure I was able to travel with my bike to make the Seagull century. I road 100 miles with no problems. He went the extra mile for service. The Sales team is always very helpful to any thing I need.

This is the best bike store in the area. They have a great selection from multiple vendors and they dont try pushing you to the expensive bikes.I test rode a couple bikes down the back streets. They were able to fix the issue on the bike I bought so I could bring it home with me in 10 minutes.Pro tip: if you go there on a really nice weekend in the middle of the day- it is going to be super busy. I went on a Monday after work and had a wonderful experience.

Mohammed rudely refused to help when a tube I just bought started to leak. Have had below average experiences in the past, but this one was the straw that broke the camels back. I will not be back

Great Service for this area! I took my Moms bike in for resale and they refused it, they told me how to handle, service and sell a bike they wouldnt even buy! They also checked out the Bike I bought for myself via Craigslist, and did too thorough an inspection, they tried to out-bid me! Awesome work being done here with a decent inventory and strong buying power!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDEDI decided to get back into bicycling, but found that the valve cap on my front tire was broken. I found this spot on Google and decided to head there over the weekend. Its a small staff, but very friendly. On the outside there is not much to see, but inside is clean and has a huge selection of bicycle accessories. Once I had a chance to ask a staff member about where I could find valve caps, he walked me over to their repair station and just handed me a few for free. I was surprised and very appreciative of the experience. I will definitely be back for accessories and repairs in the future.

I called looking for a saddle for my new bike. They told me they had a 30 day comfort guarantee that if i purchased a seat and did not like it i would be able to return it. That is great because i hate wasting money.The people inside were very nice and were happy to answer any questions i had never seeming to just want to get rid of me like some other shops.I wish i had discovered this place before buying a bike from another shop. I would have preferred to give them my business instead.

Took my bike in for a spring tune up. It was done 2 days sooner than I expected. Their mechanic is a great guy, really knows bikes. All the staff is terrific.

I have tried D&D Berkley a few times since I live nearby. Unfortunately, the owner (or manager?) is consistently condescending. The bike repair person, Muhammad, has no customer service skills either... he reacts to my question about the repair as if I had no right to understand what Im paying for. I like to feel good about where I shop, so I wont be giving D&D another chance.

The place is great. buy a bike and you get free repairs for 3 years. They have a large selection of bikes from mountain bikes to road bikes. DND also takes large amounts of money off of bikes for example my friend got a bike that’s usually $545 but they took 100 off. So the bike was just 445. The repair guy is very nice to and he knows what he’s doing when it comes to damage or broken parts.

Very helpful. Taught me how to use my bike tire air pump. As well as properly attaching my drink holder to my bike once they noticed that I had it attached by zip ties.

Dropped off two bicycles to get tuned up for the summer. After inspection, only one ended up needing a tune up. The other will get new inner tubes and some greese. This is the third year in a row that we have been here. They take the time to determine what really needs to be done rather than what you may think needs to be done.

My experience was wonderful. They had a good selection and great customer service (shoutout to Ray and Jeff for being so helpful). I got a great bike (for about 50 dollars less than at nearby bike shops) and I was helped along every step of choosing and purchasing it.

I am upset with my experience here. I feel duped by one of the mechanics (Muhammad) as he, without a doubt, sold me several wrong/unnecessary tools.Heres what happened: I had recently bought a new set of wheels for my road bike. I needed to buy and install a new cassette and chain on my bike. I came to D&D and spoke with Muhammad. I was going to have the part installed at D&D, but they werent going to be able to finish the job for a day or two so I decided to just buy the tools to do it myself (I do most of my own bike repairs).Muhammad walked me over to the wall and informed me that I would need 2 chain whips ($30 each) and a cassette tool ($10). He then pointed out the specific tools on the wall. I let him know that I was pretty sure I did not even need 1 chain whip, as I was only installing the cassette, not removing it. He assured me that I was incorrect, and I ended up buying 1 as a compromise (He said I could alternatively use 1 and an adjustable wrench).When I got home to install the cassette, I found out that he had picked out the wrong cassette tool - it didnt fit the shimano cassette that he had sold to me (you would think an experienced mechanic would know what tools are used to install something as common as a cassette). I also found out that I did not need the $30 chain whip that he had sold me, and I most certainly did not need 2.Needless to say I went to another bike shop to get the proper tools, and I do not plan to go back to D&D

Worse experience buying a bike!Pricing was good but service could be better. Girls are knowledgeable but lack follow through. I had to call multiple times before anyone answered to ask if my ordered bike was in. I was told it was ready but once in the store, I waited over 50 mins to have my new bike come out, only to be told it was damaged during construction and Id have to bring it back for him to fix it. I left the bike with them asking that it be fixed before I came back on Monday (this was a Friday) -- so no riding over the weekend for me!After waiting for a call, I finally called them. I was told the bike was ready. Went into the store, waited another 40+ minutes only to have them bring the bike out saying it cant be fixed, they jimmied it together and theyre going to order me a new bike but that I can take the damaged one home in the meantime to ride. $500 for a damaged bike?!THREE WEEKS LATER, Im calling them (again) to ask about the status of my re-ordered bike. Its in but not constructed yet, just stop in tonight and well have it ready. OK, well, it was suppose to be ready last week and Ive heard that before so Ill call again tomorrow to see if its ready yet... key words Ill call because they wont call me! It has been over a month and I still dont have a properly constructed bike. Half-hearted apologizes only go so far. Get it together, D&D!

They have a better assortment of accessories for my Electra Townie than where I actually purchased my bike at American Cycle and Fitness does.I have gotten two basket covers for my aluminum and wood basket front baskets here which you can fold them into themselves and use it as a clutch handbag. As well as getting a Trek rear basket for a Trek Dual Sport 8s which American Cycle and Fitness didnt have until much later.They have a woman display Electra Accessory tooFrom new handlebar grips in such a variety of cute styles ☺.I also picked up 2 where foldable out of the way rear side baskets in white which blends perfectly with my white seat and the back Townie rear rack over the rear tire.Plus another bike bell because since they are so many motorists that do not obey traffic laws and come at times an inch of hitting you because of them running past stop signs etc,,,Any cyclist 🚴 knows exactly what I am talking about.They also have ice ❄ cold ❄ bottledH2o on them which is very thoughtful of of them because if its a long bike trip you easily run out and water!!!!

Been trying for 3 weeks to get an adjustable stem for my mountain bikes. I bought the bikes from D&D couple years back. The first order attempt they said only one stem came in, second attempt I dropped off my bikes and they got the wrong size, but never called me. I give up.I am not going back to D&D. Looking for another bike shop that has better service and customer service.

Ive been shopping at D&D for over 10 years, 3 of my 4 bikes are bought and serviced through them. Mohammed, Ray, Riley, and the rest of the staff are incredibly helpful and willing to work out any problems or difficulties. Their prices are very competitive for local business, and they even price match Amazon. Nice!Easily my LBS of choice.

My wife and I stopped in on a rainy Saturday to take advantage of the Mothers Day sale. My wife is 53 tiny and needed a very low seat and Jeff went out of his way to accommodate her. Im 65 and needed a tall frame. Jeff hooked me up. We both bought Electra bikes and we couldnt be happier. Jeff rocks and so does Mohammed. Im glad we made the drive to this place. We absolutely love the bikes.

EDIT AS OF 8/8: Great store, great staff... Warehouse orders are hit and miss. I ordered a Warehouse bike, which is a fancy way of saying D&D doesnt have this bike, the manufacturer has this in their warehouse. Anyway, ordered a bike on the 8th, a Sunday. Was told it would take about a week, given it was Sunday, called them the following Friday just to see if it arrived early.There seemed to be some confusion regarding the order, but was told it would be in around Monday. I gave them until the 17th. I was then told D&D isnt quite sure when my bike would arrive, perhaps within the next week. I asked for them to call me when it arrives which they assured me they would. While Im not annoyed terribly by this delay, it would have been nice to have this communicated better. Id still order through them, just adjust my expectations.I also feel that they should do better to notify people of delays and backorders, I should not have to call.EDIT: it is now the 25th. No. Bike. Beyond annoying here.EDIT2: Bike arrived 21 days after ordering. While I understand this situation was caused by external factors, the fact remains, aside from Jeff @ D&D, I felt like an annoyance to the staff. Jeff was an absolute pleasure to work with and was incredibly understanding and sympathetic. He is the sole reason I will be a return customer.

Sometimes I forget what a TERRIBLE store this is... and I go in. The good news is they always REMIND me within seconds... TERRIBLE people, rude and ignorant teenagers and higher prices that the competition.Simply the WORST - stay away.

I was surprised to see the bad reviews on this store. I got my bike from the Westland location and have been going to the Berkley store a few times for tune-ups. Ive always been in and out, they do a great job on my bike and I really like the folks that work there.

Great selection of bikes as well as accessories and clothing, flats and cliped pedels and also have shoes all the employees are friendly and professional and very helpful giving you helpful advise that will fit your budget not just running to the most expensive thing in there shop like some places do love it will return again for all my accessories

I took my bike in after noticing that the brakes were not working correctly (fluid leaking). I have a warranty from their shop for five years on the bike so I did not expect to have to pay anything, but just in case I told them to call me before doing any work if it was going to cost anything.They sent the part in and kept my bike for two months (almost the entire season)! They never called, and when I finally started bothering them they finally got the bike back and told me that I owe them $100! They stated that I must have gotten into an accident, so my warranty was void. If city riding through Saugatuck breaks my mountain bike, then they should cover it. I have ridden this bike a total of 10 times and the warranty I have has been completely useless. They are supposed to tune it up each year and they have done nothing for me except make me wait while they avoid me. DO NOT GET THE WARRANTY UNLESS YOU LIKE TO PAY EXTRA.
