This game store is one of the best I’ve ever had the pleasure of stepping in to. The moment you walk in you are greeted by multiple employees, all of which are eager to answer any questions you might have in the store. Their selection of games is also awesome: board games organized into categories to fit their type, rpgs, puzzles, toys, stuffed animals, blind boxes, dice, chess, and war hammer! Some thing I thought was really cool is that if there’s a game you can’t find, the employees are willing to check if the store can specially order it for you. They also have re-opened in person gaming, as long as you show proof of vaccination. I can’t wait to play more rpg sessions at this store, it’s so much fun. Glad to support this store!

There are not many local game stores like this left.GoB has one of the largest selections of current board, card, and other games on the West Coast as well as ample, well-maintained event space to support various gaming communities.The staff is incredibly knowledgeable about games and the industry and is courteously available to always lend assistance or talk shop.A cool place inside a cool building.

Really great!! First place Ive ever been able to find booster boxes in stock, at a really reasonable price. The Boxes i bought didnt have very many good cards but, ce la vie. Such is the will of the cards. Had some other really neat stuff too!

This was one of the best game stores I have seen in a long time. They have their games broken up into a lot of relevant categories so you should be able to find one you like. There was a little sticker shock on some of them but it was nice to see some of my old games still being sold and such a wide variety of games available.

I have been a customer of Games of Berkeley for decades. I am constantly amazed at the incredible service and variety of items available.It has been especially difficult the last year. My family has been sustained by the unprecedented efforts of front line workers and businesses who against terrifying conditions have remained ready and able to ensure that we are safe.From food and health care workers to public transportation and community service employees.But at the end of the day, whether working ourselves as essential staff or helping our community stay well prepared, we came home to each other, and Games of Berkeley was there for us. With puzzles, family games, cards, arts and crafts, educational activities, apparel and just plain fun for us all.So a huge thank you from all us to all of you.You are amazing and essential.

I was blown away by how much this store carries. Theyve got it all. From table top games to card games like Magic: The Gathering, to a bevy of dice for those with a dice addiction! Defintley will be coming back here when back in town.

An excellent selection of hobby products are available. The salespeople are very friendly and knowledgeable about the products that they sell. The store is very clean and well organized. I am very happy with the purchases that I made, and will happily return again soon.

Games of Berkely had an amazing selection of board games, card games, and (most interestingly to me) Warhammer 40,000 miniatures, books, and starter kits. The staff were fun and helpful and I just cant recommend this place enough.

Rudest employees Ive ever seen in my life. Basically had two people in their store, and my husbands mask slipped off his face instead of asking completely to put it back on the desk guy was super super rude so we decided to leave. When leaving the door the man at the front said thank you and please dont ever come back. in the middle of a pandemic you think that he would be nicer to have business. On top of that nobody even buys games anymore in a store. Could order them all on amazon. Definitely dont take your small children in there because they look at those creepy type of people. Your employee was RUDE!!! I work in health care I realize the risks!!I also have to remind people of mask wearing all day! And nobody was yelling out front, we were laughing at how rude the back was. Its no problem we donate game to a childrens shelter and were going to spend a local store to help out. We decided amazon was a better way to go.

I typically do not write reviews of stores I go to but my wonderful experience last weekend at this boardgame retailer deserves a positive review of the business. My granddaughter recently began playing the Magic card game and she wanted more cards for her birthday. I had never been inside Games of Berkeley before but I had passed by a few times. The view from the window does not do justice to the depth of the inside. But when I searched for the Magic card game in online, sure enough, Games of Berkeley, or GOB for short, popped up as a top choice. It is convenient to my home and I went on a beautiful afternoon. Upon entering I was kindly greeted by an endearing employee whose name I did not catch, but she was wearing green pants. I asked the young woman if she could help me find something for my daughter from the Magic card game and she was able to recommend another expert employee to speak with. He was a tall gentleman who was very kind and helpful, with great knowledge of the game and spoke about it with such authority. He helped me select a few packs of cards and rang me up. It was more expensive than I imagined, but I guess games are not what they used to be LOL!! I continued to walk around the store and was looking at the books in the back when I was approached by another helpful employee with ginger hair and I do not remember his name either so I am SO SORRY for the physical descriptions of the employees, but I want them to have some recognition for the pleasant way they helped me in the store. He asked if I was finding what I was looking for OKAY and I told him I had just purchased some magic card game cards for my granddaughters birthday. We talked about the books for a bit and he explained that they are for Role Playing Games which story games that do not use a board. NEAT! The little figurines were very impressive behind the glass. Then I spotted that GOB had jigsaw puzzles too. I used to do puzzles with my children when they were sick home from school and it has been AGES. I picked a few out and the red-headed employee reached the one I wanted from the top shelf. He also explained how the shelves and shelves of board games are sorted and recommended some good new games I can play with my family. I also ended up picking up a HILARIOUS! birthday card, a game called Matchi Koro and the puzzle. At one point an employee asked a man to keep his mask on and I appreciate that vigilance at the moment. I said at the beginning of this review that I do not write many reviews of businesses and that is true. But nowadays so many retail stores are dismal places where no one is helpful and people are rude to the employees! That was not the case at GOB!! Everyone was so helpful and kind and customers and employees were talking a lot. It was a very nice atmosphere in which to shop. So a big thanks to the employees and managers who are doing something RIGHT!

Great place to buy trading cards but I am slightly disappointed that some of the trading cards are very overpriced for what they go for on retail price. Case and Point the TCG Shining Fates elite Trainer Box that for retail goes for 50$ but are going for 98$ here. Again super friendly staff and the quality is up to par but I am concerned about overpricing. I understand profit might need to be made but I did want to voice my concern. Thank you

Amazing selection, the staff really know their games. The prices are fair for a brick and mortar location, and the safety precautions are solid. They even had a table for me to put my boba at so I wouldnt have to risk throwing it away, nor worry about pulling my mask down (or others for that matter) while in the store. I picked up games Ive been looking for for ages! Great selection and helpful staff for sure!

An old school game store. Used to be one of the best in the bay, but now at a newer and better location than when last I visited. They used to have gobs and gobs of role playing books from every genre including used and out of print copies but now its been condensed to a singe side of a single shelf, and that was mostly D&D 5E. (#sadtimes) They still have a super collection of board games and disk golf equipment. I kind of feel bad deducting a star for not having many RPG books, but I gotta do it.

They seem to always have what Im looking for plus many additional Temptations and all sorts of shapes sizes and play level staff is very friendly and knowledgeable been there many times always get something new

I was refused entry to the store today, i was wearing rollerblades i just wanted to pick up some card sleeves, quick two minutes in the store and im away. they refused me to enter the store, i left without any exchange of words, but with my feeling hurt so i sent games of berkeley an email asking for an apology. they didnt apologise instead they email the game stores in the area and gave them my name from the email i sent! how malicious! fortunately one of my friends works at another gamestore and i found out abut the email they sent. never met a business that petty. .. ill be buying my gamestuff elsewhere***EDIT*** the store owner claims in their response that we had a cordial exchange. Thats not true, the receptionist was loud, aggressively stepped forward and pointed at me yelling. I let the door close in his face and rolled away.

Best place to buy games!! Not only do they have a huge selection of games, but theyve been in the business for decades and can answer all your questions. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Be sure to check out the section of games from local game producers! So cool that they support local artists! They also support local gaming events and teams. I love when shops support their communities the way they do. Ill be their customer for life.

Best games store in the area. Unbeatable selection of games, miniatures and cards. Event space during the time before Covid is sweet. An added bonus is the disc golf disc selection which is highly varied including discs from less seen manufacturers such as Latitude 64 and Westside discs.

I hope you will not give this store your business, as they discriminate against children. A huskier man at the front of the store demanded I place a mask on our under-2 child, which is not recommended due to risk of suffocation. The store was empty at the time. There is nothing scientific about this point of view, and its certainly not making things easier on parents during an already difficult time.

Been coming here for years for Pokémon. I bought an ETB last month at $40, now they are charging $150 for an ETB. Those are scalper prices and honestly that is a shame for them Im sure Im not the only one that will not return after this.Also the Owner, Erik. Basically responded, saying sorry were charging soo much, go buy somewhere else. Shame...

Ahhhh whats not to love about Games of Berkeley? You can get all your gift shopping (and shopping for yourself) done in one place! Comics, RPG supplies, tons of games, beautiful dice, and more. I actually live in the South Bay now so I dont get to shop here as much as I would like, but I always have to stop in if Im in the area!

Second time here, and again 5 starts experience! Folks there are friendly and knowledgeable, and they’ve got great selection of board games and goods like miniatures, paints, brushes etc.

Super clean store with a very large variety of board/tabletop game supplies. I saw more obscure games that are typically only findable at conventions there. If you like hoard games this shop is definitely a must visit. Their magic: the gathering support is minimal so if that is super important to you be warned but they are excellent with what they focus on.

This store is super interesting and full of super cool stuff. Hours can definitely be wasted just looking at the collection of items. Id definitely recommend purchasing gifts and the likes from here rather than Amazon as you can look at the goods in person as well as support the local community.

They have miniatures, large miniatures, books, dice, rings(with d20!!!), a clearance area(always nice to check it out), disc golf gear and a lot more I dont know much about. I enjoy walking the isles and picking out new games for my family. The employees are friendly and helpful...its appreciated

The staff here are super friendly and helpful. I was able to get great advice on miniatures for a D&D campaign as well as paints and figures. They also have MTG packs, and sleeves. The best thing is the back game room!

Games of Berkeley is excellent. Ive been to many many game shops in many states and cities. This one had a large and great selection of games. There are nightly social events and the workers were friendly. Would recommend as a fellow board-gamer.

Incredible selection of games for every taste! From traditional American staples, to eclectic and obscure games from around the world, this place has it. The complimentary Minecraft wrapping paper for the sign language game we picked was just the icing on the birthday cake!!

It was amazing at its old location, but its even bigger and better now! I have never visited a better games store. They have a huge selection and the friendliest, most knowledgeable staff. Whether you want the newest, trendy tabletop game or a classic like chess, they have what youre looking for.

Biggest game store in the heart of Berkeleys college town. Hundreds of strategic, cooperative, Euro, and role playing games for all ages. They also sell many types of frisbee - from sport to golf, and also have the biggest dice collection I have ever seen in my life. If you love board games, this place will make you feel like a kid in a candy store. Consider taking Bart (Berkeley station) and walking in, as parking can be sparse.

Since there are very few game stores around, this place gets points for existing. They have a pretty good selection here. The more popular games are right up front, but there are some hidden gems in the corners. They also have a small selection of paints and brushes, which is very appreciated. Pricing is standard, not special. They also have gaming areas for people wanting to play. Ill definitely return.

Used to frequent this place often when I lived in and near Berkeley. They moved locations about 1 year ago, and wow, this current location is so much better. Their choice of games is also unparalleled compared to many other game stores that I have been to. It was great to go back and see the new store.

Comprehensive selection, almost like a library of gaming really, very kind and helpful staff, a bit of a play space towards the back for hosting events. Honestly I think they noticed I was having some anxiety and we joked around with some of the novelties which was very pleasant. Picked up quite a few items here. Competitive pricing too, especially for the area.

Theres less on the street parking available at the new location but the employees are still very helpful.Prices seem high compared to big chain store locations or the internet but they have a convenient location (where Im sure the rent isnt cheap) and most importantly youre going to find items here that you will not see in most other stores.Id like to see markers above the Isles stating whats in them, like a supermarket, but then I wouldnt get to experience the knowledgeable sales folks that are always ready to help you.
