Came here to chill and chat. Food and drinks were overpriced for sure. We shared the sweet rooster sandwich and it was a bit dry. My cappuccino was alright. The best food item I really enjoyed was the Goodio chocolate (not made in house)- worthy discovery. The back patio was beautiful and spacious. Most likely not coming back for the nomnoms.

Beautiful garden with outdoor seating in the rear and good pastries from a local baker (Starter). Their coffee drinks served in ceramics get cold fast, but they accommodated me by making my drink extra hot.

Friendly service with a beautiful outdoor patio in the back and a few tables out front. Oatly milk cappuccino was great! & how can you jot adore their logo!? ^_^

Coffee is pretty good as are the small selection of available pastries. The major attraction of Cafenated is their sweet back patio, which is covered by a large, clear awning and decorated tastefully with plants and hanging planters. It is almost always packed though, and it can be hard to nab a seat. A lot of patrons like to work back there, so they will bring their laptops and camp out for hours and give you dirty looks if you talk too loudly in their presence.

GREAT COFFEE! ... and a great place to sit outside, inside (partly open during pandemic) or on the covered back patio. I had a wonderfully aromatic cup of drip brew, cream and sugar. Come enjoy the ample seating. Come back for food treats!

The coffee is good and back garden is a wonderful place to sit and talk with a friend. Almond pastry is my favorite.

We’ve been here about a six or so times now, coffee is good and the ambiance is nice. Today we grabbed some food from another restaurant and then wanted to grab a coffee from Cafenated. There was about a 15 minute wait to get coffee and then we sat outside in their outdoor seating in front. We were the only people outside enjoying a late lunch at 3 pm. After a couple minutes one of the staff came out and told us to leave, no outside food allowed. Understandable, but between the unsympathetic demand, that there was no one outside that was in need of a table, and that we were paying customers the whole experience was very off-putting. Won’t be returning.

This place is really cute and in a prime location, just off Shattuck, making it feel like a pleasantly tucked away space. The back patio is wonderful and spacious, the fried egg I had here was cooked perfectly, and I enjoy taking a bag of coffee home from this place on occasion.I only wish they had Chai for those moments when you want something other. I also wish more if their staff was friendly, rather than walking away in the middle of a transaction and hardly greeting me upon entering.

Lovely place. Beautifully decorated. Perfect for working or having coffee with a couple of friends. The porch is charming and has a very nice vibe to it. Coffee is great though the food is a bit too pricey for the portion sizes

Lively and cozy atmosphere. There was a live jazz band playing when we visited and heating outdoors since it was a bit chilly. Food was a bit bland and a tad pricey but overall was a great experience.

I stopped in here several times during a stay nearby. Really pleasant interior and garden. Excellent coffee. Hot food is very good but you need to wait a bit. Coffee service is fast. Garden is pleasant to hang out.

Great place to sit and either work or study...or just have a great cup of tea or coffee in Berkeley’s Gourmet Ghetto. They have an outdoor open seating area in the back and a few table in the front with a bike share station right outside.

Cafenated is located in a food-forward part of town and makes a great addition to the Gourmet Ghetto. The back patio area is spectacular, quiet, lush with gardens, and off the street so theres few distractions. This makes it a great spot to bring a computer and get some work done; unfortunately this means its almost always tough to find a seat, with a lot of folks getting a cup of coffee and sitting down at a table for more than a few hours. Still, if youre able to nab a spot, its peaceful and enjoyable.The coffee has great taste and is somewhat above par of the other roasters in the area and competitively priced. The times Ive gone for espresso, however, its been a bit on the over-roasted or burned side. Pastries always looks great in the box at the front and I cant wait to try their brunches.

Cozy space for productivity, great Wifi, love the back botanic garden while having lots of seats down there. Great oolong tea.

We met friends for coffee and enjoyed the beautiful outdoor patio. Coffee was delicious, will be back to eat soon!

One of the coolest Coffee shops in Berkeley. The coffee shop has a beautiful backyard garden with edible vegetables and fruits. The coffee shop has some of the coolest coffee machines for precise coffee brewing. Espressos are premium quality.

Such a cute cute spot. i wish the staff were more friendly. every single time i’ve been there, not one person has EVER greeted me with a smile. i know we wear masks currently but it’s in the service, you can just tell. a simple how can i help, a simple acknowledgment when people are on their way out. i’ve ever felt like i’ve annoyed them/wasting their time on more than one occasion. it’s the little things and it seems all they want to do is get the job done and close. i’ve kept coming back because i like the spot for working and the look and feel, cleanliness, location etc but the staff just lacks. it’s so disappointing. i find myself looking for other places before heading there and maybe pretty soon i’ll stop altogether. service is so important, i wish the staff realized that.

Very nice open air garden with an avocado tree. It has been a touchstone for my recovery from seizures as I had my first one walking their with my wife. It’s peaceful atmosphere and delicious coffee. They’ll have to wait a moment on their planned franchises but they’ll get there.

Has a nice back garden to enjoy your coffee. If you prefer decaf, they will brew up a cup for you. Breakfast sandwiches, pastries and carbonated beverages are also available.

Disappointed. My two stars are because of the outside patio and the mission; but that stop there. Aside from the beautiful space and the gorgeous well-decorated outdoor, ideal for an afternoon stop to read a book or do some work, I was very disappointed by the very expensive yet flavorless drinks.My first drink was a 煎茶 (sencha). While its your to make, the amount of leaves was insufficient for the ratio of water. I wanted to give this place another try before calling it a day and ordered an iced matcha, which is a flavorful tea.The matcha (薄茶?) was made from concentrate (Tannors tea), and this ended up being green milk (you cant taste the matcha at all). Price tag for this was $5+. My friend had the coffee, which tasted off (far too bitter and acidic to be enjoyable on its own).

TONS OF SPACE, coffee is middle of the road but Ive only had the cold brew. Hopefully the other coffee is a little better. Nicely crafted space, tons of great natural light

Our small book club meets here one afternoon a month now because the coffee is good, we love the mission, baristas are nice, and above all, we fell in love with the beautiful garden patio. I have seen hummingbirds flitting about from plant to plant every time I have been here. A little slice of heaven in the middle of stressful times.

Coffee was very good! I had a latte and it was more than decent (and I drink a lot of coffee and espresso). But I have to say that the food shined brighter than anything.. I was surprised and delighted at the quality of the prepared food. The avocado toast was toasted and seasoned perfectly, the herb frittata had a ton of flavor and was absolutely delicious. Great atmosphere, will be coming here again.

Its a nice, light-filled space to come and get reading and writing done; folks also work on their laptops and have conversations. The noise level is moderate to loud so might not be the best spot if you need absolute silence to do focused work. Seating indoors is often high in demand, but theres also seating outdoors and free blankets available to borrow.

The owner and the chef were great. The owner took his time to go over basically the entire menu with us, explaining all the items, and how items could be made vegan. They were very accommodating, and the chef even poked his head out to check on us.

A very pretty location. I got the matcha tea with almond milk, and it was extremely mediocre. Not worth the $6.

Amazing patio. Latte was markedly less bitter than the last time I was in here. It is very, very expensive, which feels worth it if you are planning to sit in the delightful garden, but I would probably get a to go cup from one of the other 400 coffee shops in the surrounding block or 2.

Not off to a great start. To summarize, incredibly long waits, limited selection, and bad-tasting coffee.I ordered a soy mocha--pretty standard fare--but they only had oat milk. Fine, but the oat milk wasnt very good. My friend ordered a decaf latte--but they said they couldnt make decaf espresso, and didnt have dairy milk, either, so she settled for a decaf coffee with some oat milk poured in. A whopping 25 minutes later (with only one other customer who came through while we waited), my drink was made... and tasted terrible. They made a latte, not a mocha, and it had all the worst flavors you dont want from a coffee (bitterness, acridity, watery) and none of the coffee flavors I love. The drink made Starbucks seem like fine dining. My friends coffee was no better. A few friends have tried them since, and report much the same: unbelievable wait times, bad tasting coffee, and on the expensive side.The staff seemed friendly, but overwhelmed (despite low traffic), and I was surprised that there wasnt anyone experienced or clearly managerial on site for a newly opened coffee shop. The site is attractive, I liked the outdoor patio--but Id need to know that theyve made some improvements before spending another $6+ on one of their drinks.

I actually believe it deserves more than 4 3 stars. I give it 4.75. It has a gorgeous outdoor patio and indoors is decorated very tastefully, and they serve excellent coffee and there tea service is done beautifully in a lovely glass teapot

Ive only been here twice since it has been Cafenated, but the venue used to be my favorite place to get a Paleo inspired meal when I used to live in Berkeley several years ago. Those owners obviously have since gone, but Mac is a very nice man and his workers seemed to do their due diligence, and I love the concept and I love the coffee. I also enjoyed avocado toast today and it was quite good. I dont come to Berkeley very often but it seems like this will be my regular haunt when I do! Got to love the succulent garden in the back.

Rarely leave reviews for places but this place was so great I feel obligated.The food was awesome, the staff couldnt have been nicer, and the atmosphere was very unique for a coffee shop. Well definitely be back

The place is beautiful, its super modern, and i love their mission behind what they do. It is beautiful, the cafe is beautiful, and people who work behind the coffee bar are the friendliest people- met Steve and he is so kind. Also gave great recommendations to coffee choices, and food choices because I always ask what is most recommended. I got the marinated olives which is fantastic- I do not regret, I wish I can eat this every day!Thanks CCC!

Ahh, what a nice place. Good coffee... Really good coffee. The cuisines is top notch and compliments the open / airy atmosphere. The garden is my favorite aspect as it is so peaceful.

None of the tables are level so your coffee bounces around and spills. The tables are also very dirty have to ask for a dish rag to clean your own table.The coffee is good. Whatever coffee you’re able to drink because it doesn’t spill out of your cup.

It was a great atmosphere, relaxing and enjoyable. We had a great time. The food and dessert were delicious. I ordered fish and rice. For dessert, we had komaj.

Great Gourmeh Ghetto location. The owners were present there and they seem to be interested in improving everything. The back yard setting is simply beautiful. The specialized Northern Iranlan food was fresh and unique. Have been there 3 times in last 30 days.

Great back patio and fast internet. In addition to coffee classics, they have excellent food options and some wine selections. Not too crowded so its a pleasure to be there for awhile.

Went here once...the coffee was middling at best and merely lukewarm (my idea of superlative coffee is Coava of Portland). But getting marketing spam from them on Xmas eve/Hanukah (when I gave my # for purposes of the receipt) reminded me how underwhelming the coffee was and inspired me to post.
