The price of the books and other materials were abit expensive, I guess thats due to the the expensive area around. Staff are preety much experienced and they know well enough about the store. Parking is soo much trouble in this area, walk-ins is a best deal you can make.

I love this place! These people are very passionate and work tirelessly to bring well-curated, relevant and hard to find books to the world. Just learned that the bookstore closed permanently due to COVID-19. UPB was one of my favorite bookstores in Berkeley because of its unique focus on scholarly and academic books. Book stores are a tough business to run these days, but they are institutions that I hope will stand the test of time, especially the ones like UPB which are so unique. Its closure marks yet another event that makes the university town less interesting. :(

They have an amazingly diverse selection of books, both new and used, including lots of local and independently published titles. Super pleased with the inventory and availability of innovative works - but the used books are priced really preciously [about double what youd expect]. New titles are offered at cover - and you wont find any discounts, unless youre shopping the dollar racks out front. Ive heard they occasionally do a half-off sale on used books, which would be great to catch. Besides price? Everything is great - staff, stock, and environment are all great. Parking is insane in this area, so walk-ins are best!

This is a lovely bookstore, and the place to go for stuff published by university and college presses in the US and abroad. Good selection of many academic titles and other, including periodicals. Next door is a very nice cafe and classical music store. They have a loyalty program one can sign up for, a coupon for every so many dollars spent. Nice folks to boot.

University Press is an excellent book shop. Berkeley used to be a paradise for book stores, and one by one, they have fallen by the wayside, due to high rents, online competition, dumb mistakes, or the increasing functional illiteracy of the general population.But University Press survives and still does a great job of stocking a terrific selection. I hope they keep it up.

Loved the room in the back with used books and a huge table with chairs. picked up a few books (they were having a 50% off used books sale while I was there) that I havent seen elsewhere, for about 2$ each

With so few bookstores left in the Bay Area, its refreshing to go to one that carries titles you wont find at a Barnes and Noble.

This bookstore has both new and used books, and a large selection of both. You wont find any bargains here, but the quality is excellent and the range is deep and wide.

The selection of university press books-- from any university press-- is fantastic, and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly.
