After accidentally discovering the Oxygen pillow while house-sitting for some smart friends, I bought one a couple months ago, and I’m thrilled with it. The fitting process was easy and thorough, the reps were extremely kind and helpful, and even though I have obstructive sleep apnea, I’ve slept drastically better since owning this pillow. It proved to be even more useful in another unexpected scenario though– I recently underwent surgery to remove a brain tumor recurrence, and sleeping on this pillow was a game-changer compared to my first surgery six years ago. The way it’s designed allows for less pressure on the side and back of the skull, and as such, made my post-surgical recovery process and experience far more safe, pleasant, and comfortable. They have multiple densities and thicknesses to choose from, and help you find the perfect fit for your body. I highly recommend visiting this shop if youre looking for some relief for OSA, or if youve recently had surgery (or another condition) that makes it hard to sleep. Or, you just want the most comfortable pillow you could own. I was reluctant to spend the money at first... but a couple months later I feel its one of the best investments Ive ever made in my quality of life. Now my partner wants one too... and she doesnt have OSA or a recent surgery. She just loves how unbelievably comfy it is. I dont normally write product reviews, but I felt compelled in this case. I ordered a bed that was made in Vermont from European Sleep Works. Karina got the approval of the manufacturer to modify their specific bed height measurements. It took 20 weeks for the bed to be made and shipped from the east coast. Unfortunately, the manufacturer forgot to include some of the hardware.However, I was extremely impressed with European Sleep Works Manager, Steve. His creative and timely customer service resolution was to use parts from their store floor model for my bed. Their team arrived the following day and put together my beautiful bed!Problems happen from time to time, but its the genuine care for the customer and problem resolution that demonstrate the quality of a company. European Sleep Works is almost an hour from my home, but I will return for future purchases because of the excellent customer service they provided.

My partner and I have enjoyed a great European Sleep Works mattress and foundation for many years and didnt think twice about revisiting the Berkeley showroom for our new replacement.We appreciate that they are a small local, environmentally concerned company employing folks who create each mattress from scratch in their Richmond manufacturing site.At the showroom we were expertly advised by Katrina about models that would fit our needs and after laying on several alternatives chose one to be delivered.About 60 days after delivery we called Katrina to say that it did not satisfy us and supplied photos of the main objection. She offered to send a team for a tune up’ hoping to solve the issue.The problem persisted and we then agreed to revisit the showroom to select an alternative which we are now delighted with.Katrina handled the entire process very professionally and with her expert counsel now have the best product for our needs.We highly recommend European Sleep Works when looking for a great sleep knowing you will purchase from an excellent local company with outstanding employees who stand by their word.Gaby & Michael

We purchased a Nordic II bed with an Adjustable Bed Frame about 16 months ago. The control box that controls the remote control broke and we called European Sleep Works to help us diagnose the problem and ultimately fantastic. Karina and Steven were fantastic to work with; cooperative, knowledgeable, professional and supportive. I also was calling the manufacturer of the Adjustable Frame (Reverie) and it was definitely more challenging dealing with them (long delays in customer service response).Ultimately European Sleep WOrk sent their technicians out to our house within 3 days and they took apart the bed, tested the control box, identified the problem, installed new control boxes and then reset up the bed so that the remote control devices worked for each side of the bed. Their customer service was outstanding and is a key reason why i strongly recommend European Sleep Works to customers looking for great, comfortable beds and an opportunity to work with a local company that really stands behind their products. THis is the second bed that i have bought from Sleep Works (and the first bed has lasted 12 years and is still going strong).

Best mattress I ever got. When I travel, I miss my bed. Its fantastic: firm on the bottom, but soft on top. I feel like a proper adult now.

We have had a European Sleep Works mattress for over a year and it has been fantastic! Our old mattress left me creaky and stiff when I woke up in the morning but ever since I made this purchase Ive had no more aches in the morning. It doesnt sag or get lumpy. Its tough to sleep on anything else now! You also dont have to worry about breathing in whatever the heck a lot of other mattresses off gas because the materials are high quality and natural. I love it and highly recommend.

After the Santa Rosa fires, after losing everything, we landed in a furnished rental home...with everything we needed BUT a bed. Landlord let us lie down on their European Sleep Works bed just before they moved it out. Granted we were tired and stressed but this bed was beyond comfortable! We spent a whole day driving to Berkeley and choosing a mattress. Best purchase we’ve made - and still loving it two years later.

Simply the best bedding store in the Bay Area! We bought our current very comfortable & green Cal King mattress here 3 years ago, along with a solid cherry wood dresser for Teresa. Stopped in over Thanksgiving to pick up a flat but supportive pillow for Tess, and they had exactly what she wanted, and helped her choose the correct firmness. The in-store assistance is always spectacular, and the products are excellent!

We splurged on a queen mattress just two years ago at the recommendation of my husbands chiropractor. The bed has been very comfortable, however, it has developed a mildew/mold problem and has started making us sick. We live in a foggy neighborhood in San Francisco where moisture is an ongoing battle, but we have never had a problem with a mattress getting mildew/mold before. Our previous mattress was a cheap pillow-top mattress (so not particularly moisture resistant) that we had for 6 years, including 3 years in the same room that the ESW mattress is in, without ever having a problem. Despite having a 10 year warranty, they of course do not cover mildew/mold. If you live in a foggy place, save your money and find a cheaper mattress elsewhere that wont make you sick.

We just purchased our second mattress in 10 years from ESW. We had an easy and professional experience. The delivery guys were great, very cautious given current climate.

I decided to give this place a try because I heard good things about them from a friend. I liked that they are a local shop thats not part of a larger chain. The store is actually pretty enjoyable to visit, I tried several different mattresses and even a few pillows. The manager helped me find the perfect mattress for my tastes, comfortable but firm. He explained how the flexible slats can easily adjust the firmness of a mattress anytime you like. I got to see all the layers of coils and foam that go into the mattress as well. Several years later I am still loving my mattress. Theres really no substitute for quality engineered mattress. They say you should never worry about spending money on things that keep you off the ground: shoes, tires, and mattresses. I really do believe that if you buy it nice you dont have to buy it twice. Really glad I went with this friendly local shop. The Oxygen pillows are pretty great too... my chronic neck stiffness that I learned to live with is now all but gone.

This is a great place! I have their mattress and oxygen pillows. My mother, who has a traumatic brain injury always gets headaches from sleeping. So, I encouraged her to try an oxygen pillow and its been amazing. She still gets headaches, but not from sleeping! Her pillow is 7 or 8 years old now so, so when I replaced mine, she replaced hers as well. We both love them!I happened to call the store during the COVID lockdown and they were able to show me product details via Facetime.This is a great place and their products are solid.

We bought our bed from European Sleep Works 14 years ago. It has been a love affair in comfort for both of us all these years. We have moved several times and our bed traveled well.The individual slat system gives each of us our perfect firm/soft and give. Bought an Oxygen pillow there about 7 years ago. I love it. I have been using it every day.Its so worn out, the poor thing.Going to buy another one today.Will be driving 46 miles to buy a pillow!!! I must really like it.I remember the staff being very helpful in helping me pick the correct thickness pillow for my sleep style.

This is an interesting fact. Years ago we bought a queen size European Sleep works mattress at European Sleep Works. We absolutely love the feel of the mattress. but for years we didnt think as to why the queen sheets were always too big. I tried for years to find the right fitting bottom sheet, but no luck.The other day, in sheer desperation, I decided to measure my queen mattress and found out that it measured 57 by 79 inches. A queen mattresss dimensions are 60x80. What the heck? Mystery solved,I do not understand that we were sold this size size mattress masqueraded as a queen. 3 inches narrower and 1 inch shorter is a lot smaller. And no fitted sheet fits snug.I had actually gone in twice to Berkeley Sleep Works to see if they could recommend a company that has fitted sheets in this size. The answer was a solid no. Not I am sorry we dont know. Simply no. Bad service all around, in my opinion.

I LOVE my Oxygen Pillow from Sleep Works!!! I got my first one in 2011 or before and theyre the only pillows I buy anymore. Now that I know my size, I can just easily call them and they have my size and address in file and can ship it to me when I need a new pillow. My shoulders arent as muscular anymore so I called them about a year ago to have them ship a pillow 1 size thinner than I previously had, and it works perfectly!!! Since they have spool many sizes mixed with firmness-es to choose from you definitely need to go in at least your first visit and plan to spend some time choosing the correct combination for you, but once you find that magic combo, youll never go back to stuffing pillows that shift and get dents and lumps. Ive purchased a total of 3 from them in the past 7 or 8 years and every time I put my head on my pillow I still think God, I LOVE my pillow!!! so much so that I called them out if the blue to ask the date of my original purchase just to write this review before bed tonight lol!!!

The beds are well made and super comfortable. They take care to source the highest quality components and are very environmentally friendly. Also, their customer service is amazing. Not only are they incredibly knowledgeable about the mattress industry (suppliers, chemicals, etc.) but they are willing to help you find other stores if something doesnt work for you.

Im very pleased with the mattress I purchased after researching much online and at a big name mattress warehouse store. I liked the option to pick up my twin mattress myself, and also the chance to find a natural material pillow that will help with my excema and neck pain (still working with staff to find the best fitness and height). The service, quality, and flexibility/working with me makes these products worth the investment.

I love this place and their products. I am a massage therapist and have recommended their mattresses. We have 3 size beds in various levels of firmness. Our son has a twin, daughter has a full and we have a Cal King. Their mattresses are unusual in that the top cover unzips to reveal the inner workings. Over the years weve replaced the top layer of the 3 inch foam on the Cal King, saving us a lot of money. The inner springs were still in great shape. But ohhhh..you have to sleep on it to fully appreciate it. I did not want to get up out of bed the first time! They are a bit pricey but so worth it because you wont be looking for a replacement even after 10 years! Sweet dreams!!

A high end place that sells bed and pillows. Supposedly the staff here are non commissioned so theres no pressure. I came here to buy a pillow that ended up costing over $140 that was supposed to be good for the head and neck. The sales lady had me try on a few different ones and made the recommendation on the size and firmness, Sadly after four weeks my head never got use to it as its something of a unique design that not everyones head can get use to.

I was suffering from hip pain, seeing doctor after doctor with no relief in sight. Then decided to give a new mattress a try. Visited European Sleep Works and pulled the trigger on a new mattress. Its helped tremendously! A+++ I look forward to climbing in bed every night! Love it!

LOVE LOVE LOVE! I have a Cal-King ESW thats about 10 years old now and it remains super comfortable. My primary motivation was the latex that doesnt off-gas scary stuff. I also have the latex EDW pillow and its baseline comfort was marvelous - - and then I had a cervical fracture, and I credit the pillow with reduction of the pain level in my neck.

Bought my NORDUC II HD mattress with PILLOW TOPPER 18 months ago and it has become the one of the best investments Ive ever made. We have had $6000.00 plus mattresses from other top of the line name brand mattress makers and this is by far the best most comfortable mattress we have ever owned. Besides the awefull toxic off-gassing from those other manufactures, the comfort of those matresses was significantly, less than the custom mattress we got from EUROPEAN SLEEP WORKS. We also got the FLEXABLE SLAT SYSTEM, which allows for even creater customization of your matress comfort. An absolute must have! Today I finally purchased my OXYGEN PILLOW and decided to get the SLEEP WEDGE with it. Took a nap as sookn as I got home and WOW, I never thjought that these 2 items could make this perfect mattress even better! Only wanted a quick nap and woke up 2 hours later in the same position! Cant wait to go to bed tonight!If you think this mattress cost a lot, look at the warranty. If you think it cost more than your current mattress, think about that mosy people spend 33% or more of your life in bed. How do your bad nights sleep affect the other 2/3 of your life?All my wife and I can say is that the customer service was exceptional, second to none, and the service is the best, and best off all... NO MORE SLEEPLESS TOSSING AND TURNING at night!

What a difference a good mattress makes!Amy was awesome and spent time to go around trying out the different mattress options with me while analyzing my sleep position. Apparently Im a natural side sleeper who has frustratingly evolved into a stomach sleeper due to the horrible mattress I was sleeping on. I always insisted a firm mattress was best for me until I worked with Amy and realized how many problems this was creating. Ordered a mattress, wood slat suspension, mattress cover, and the super pillow.Two weeks later, the delivery guys showed up and set up everything and hauled away the old sack-of-flour I was sleeping on. I threw on some new Egyptian cotton sheets, and within the first week I slept right through my alarm clock twice--my bed is just too comfortable now!Im so glad I didnt head down the Sealy/Serta/whatever path... the quality here is far better.

BLISS!First of all, not only are the staff not salesmen pushing to make this weeks quota, they are nice, friendly people you would probably be happy talking to in any social situation; smart, funny, friendly people who do a good job listening to what you want and asking questions that yield helpful information about what is going to get you the best nights sleep.The product itself is fabulous. This is our second bed from ESW, the one that just got removed was 14 years old. Fourteen years ago I waxed poetic and gave tours of the new mattress and five friends went and got one for themselves. I can see that process is about to start all over again. I LOVE this bed! Its that perfect combination of excellent support with blissfully cushioned cradling at the end of a long day. I have to say, I think climbing into bed is better than a glass of wine or a seving of ice cream after a busy day of work and family - fewer calories and divided by day, probably a lot cheaper too. There is nothing so wonderful as an item which is well designed and superbly executes its function. An ESW bed is exactly that.Go ahead, go in and test drive some of their mattresses. The feel really good in the store, but once you have one in your house, and youve put on your jammies and there is no one else around -- its just heaven!

I have had a great experience buying an Alpine mattress from European Sleepworks. It has been a process for me in finding out what is most comfortable to sleep on. For years i had been sleeping on mattresses that were too firm and so at European Sleepworks with some helpful guidance from the staff there, i went the other direction and bought the soft Alpine mattress. What i love about their mattress system, is the flexibility. I opted not to go for the flexible slat system and what i ended up with is a solid slat base, soft coil and firm latex combination. I couldnt be happier. It is the right balance for my body. What separates European Sleepworks from other mattress stores, is that they understand that it is not just the mattress that you are sleeping on, but the pillow as well. It really is a marriage of those two parts that gives you the best option for a proper alignment of your body. The staff is very helpful, friendly and unassuming. They all have a strong knowledge base and they balance it well by giving suggestions and then allowing you to spend some time by yourself on the mattress to see if it is really speaking to you. It is a nice atmosphere in the store. It exudes quality. The variety of combinations of mattresses and pillows, the flexible slat system or the solid slat frame, means that anyone should be able to find a bed that he/she will enjoy. The materials are all natural, which I think is another asset in getting good sleep. A special shout out to Steven, the G.M. of European Sleepworks. He went the extra mile for me and has made me a completely satisfied customer.

Highest Honors for a great experience with European Sleepworks!I recently bought a latex bed from European Sleepworks, and sadly, it didnt work out for me. However, you can really tell the most about a company by how they handle things when it doesnt work out!From the very beginning, with all of the sales staff, especially Patricia, I felt such great care. I went to almost every bed store in the greater Bay Area, and at European Sleepworks, I felt that these were the most fantastic, rocket scientist consultants to help me choose a bed, guiding me in determining which firmness provided the best alignment for my spine--something that no other bed company sales reps even asked me about!In spite of the care in choosing my bed, the latex just didnt work out for me.European Sleepworks patiently consulted with me as we considered various options, firmer or softer for this layer or that layer as well as ways to make the mattress work for me, which I really wanted! They are awesome at analyzing and assessing the subtle mechanics of how one sleeps.In the end, after lots of consulting, we had to accept that it just wasnt going to work. European Sleepworks honored their policy of returns in such an elegant way--I am a completely satisfied customer and would recommend them without hesitation to anyone looking for the best quality latex beds!!Delete review

My review is a little different than the others. We live out of state, so we never visited the showroom or tried our ESW bed before we received it. I wanted to share my experience, because when we were looking to buy I couldnt find a review from anyone in our situation. We knew we wanted a bed that was free from off gassing and more natural than conventional mattresses, and were drawn to ESW and its positive reviews. The price was also comparable/less than other organic mattresses we were looking at. I called in and talked to Katy in the ESW store. She was very helpful at listening to what we were looking for and then making recommendations (she explained why she recommended the Alpine C firmness for us/our situation over the others), and also explaining the shipping costs/procedures (but we saved bc no sales tax as we were out of state). Then was the long wait (its always hard waiting when youre excited!). Now, she said it could be 4-5 weeks, and I think it arrived in a little less than 4. That was a nice surprise. The bed itself is wonderful. Its firm without being hard. It actually cradles your body, but is still supportive. My husband woke up without back pain for the first time in 3 months! We have nothing but good things to say about ESW - the bed and the service, so if youre out of town but are thinking about ordering one, I would definitely say to do it!
